Thanks for the pictures, but can't say I'm too impressed with the set. I plan on getting practically every one of the 2010 sets, except for this one. Just bought the motorized one around Christmas and am quite happy with that one. It's not perfect, but I think it looks a whole lot better than this new one. Decent selection of minifigs though, and it could be an interesting play set if it does open out.

I really like the AT-RT, and I'd love to see them releasing it as a seperate set, perhaps with Mace Windu. The other Lego series' pretty much all come with smaller sets that cost between £2-5. Great if they'd do that with Star Wars to make it easier to get some of those rare minifigs.. but that's exactly why they're never going to do that.
-
Even just judging by the pictures, I'd say it's the cheaper plastic.

Exactly what I thought, his arms are done in kind of a strange way, they look a little odd. But great with his lightsabers, and either way he's a huge improvement over the old one. But it is disappointing he doesn't come with the cape.
-
Definitely not one from the pirate tank, it does look like the one that was with Bane in that episode. The two commando's look pretty cool, and it's nice that we get an assassin droid and a pirate, but I'm disappointed they didn't do Aurra Sing.

The new Grievous looks really great. Still can't see him from a particularly good angle, but he looks a lot better than the old one. Not sure I like how they've done his multiple arms, but he'll at least look good with the two. The Aayla Secura looks really impressive too, I really like the amount of detail they've put onto her mold. Makes me wish they did a Clone Wars Kit Fisto. Interesting that they gave Boba a face, I'm sure some EU fans will be mad about his human apperance, but again he looks great, along with Bossk and the carbonated Han. Really love the Wampa too. I guess Plo Koon's starfighter isn't the most popular set, but I like those little designs and it should look good alongside Anakins and Ahsoka's. I do hope they do more of them in the future.. perhaps Mace Windu's? I like the colour scheme for his little droid.

I have no problem with them including the main characters in the sets more commonly. The turbo tank does come with the two main characters.. but it also makes sense to throw in one of the villians and a supporting character too, that way the kids actually have someone to make the Jedi fight against. Getting three heroes isn't very much fun on its own is it? It's exactly the same type of thing we saw with sets like the Gunship, which came with Obi-wan, Cody, Plo-koon as an extra cameo and Asajj Ventress for the bad guy. To me this makes perfect sense for a large play set. Cad Bane is also (presumably) coming with the Cad Bane speeder set this year, so people who are unwilling to splash out on the large turbo tank will be able to get him with that set, along with the heroes who are all dotted around some smaller sets too, such as Anakin with the freco bike. As for the collectors like myself, it's just nice to be able to finally get some of these characters. Aayla Secura may not have appeared with a turbo tank in the series, but she did in the movies.. so it does make some sense. And I was simply playing mod. Didn't mean to directly attack you, but this isn't the place to discuss prices. And if you disliked my comment about how much other countries are having to pay, perhaps you can understand how redundant your own comments on the matter were. :)

Remember, this is a Clone Wars set. Both Cad Bane and Aayla Secura have featured prominantly in the series, Cad Bane inparticular has been more or less then main villian in season 2, and while Aayla Secura has only appeared in a couple of episodes, she's already a hugely popular character and has been requested for quite some time. Regardless, you still get Anakin and Ahsoka in the set, along with two clones. I like the idea of throwing in a few lesser known characters along with the sets to make them more interesting. Would you also complain about the addition of Admiral Ackbar, Wedge or General Veers in other sets? It's these guys that make the sets more fun, It'd be very boring if Lego just stuck to the really well known characters in every single set. I already have more Han and Luke's than I know what to do with. And don't get me started on R2. I also have to take this oppertunity to say stop complaining about the prices. Yes, it's $120. It's also double that amount in most countries outside of the US. Get over it. Where I live, I fully expect to pay the equivalent of $150-180. So boo-hoo. I honestly can't stress enough how little everyone else cares that you're having to pay $10-20 more than you might like for it.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
Penitent Tangent replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in Culture & Multimedia
This was rumoured for a while, and frankly you'd have to be brain dead not to have seen it coming. Still, really looking forward to it. Even if all the Lego games have been largely similar, they're still immensly enjoyable. Wonder how closely they'll stick to the actual episodes from the series, or if they'll just take the characters and do whatever with them. I felt the Batman game was far poorer than the others, mainly because it lacked any clear structure to be based on.. -
Just looked like a regular clone, and these sets looked pretty final.
-
Haha. The guy in the video talks exactly like Neil Goldman from Family Guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVDojV_Gk1c But all of the sets look a lot better here, clearly much closer to being finalised. I'm going to have no money by the end of the year.. Originally wasn't planning on getting the Slave 1, but it is just a very nice looking ship.
-
Not impressed by the Aayla Secura, no problem with it being a CW minifig, but the head just looks off. The fact it doesn't match the version we saw in the last pictures with the brown head band though means it may still just be a prototype. Everything else looks really great though. A little disappointed we haven't seen Greivous.
-
Not sure why we've seen so many complaints here about Cad Bane smiling, it definitely suits him.
-
Can't please everyone. I personally would have been disappointed if she'd just been a more plain mini-fig. I'm still a little disappointed that Barriss Offee looks so out of place in my little Jedi collection.
-
Without trying to play mod.. none of these price discussions should be here, there's a seperate topic for that stuff. Having it here just clutters the discussion. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19837

This was just a space suit, minus the helmet. She wore it because they were out in space for a little bit.. But this is along the lines what I was talking about before, I think it'd be nice to see more of these different cotumes getting used. We've already seen Anakin in his snow gear, so I'd like to see things like that continue. Just to keep it fresh if they're going to be used in multiple sets each year.
-
Even though the show has dealt with some rather adult themes.. I really don't think going to get into Ahsoka going through puberty. Like I said before, the torso print on the prelim picture does look a bit odd, and I'd love to see them change up the costumes. But I don't think they're going to radically change anything in the TV show, and even if they do, all these sets seem to revolve around first season/early happenings. If Ahsoka does mature somewhat towards the end of season 2/season 3, I don't think we'd see any Lego reflect that until much later.
-
Could someone post a screencap from this episode? I don't recall her wearing different clothes from normal, but he minifig definitely does look different from the current one. Of course they're prelim images, but that doesn't explain why she'd have a different torso when we already have plenty of Ahsoka minifigs already. I really hope they have done this though. If they are going to keep including her and Anakin in sets, giving them different costumes would help a lot.
-
The sets are definitely more expensive now, but the new Grievous fighter does come with much more minifigs than the 2007 version did, not to mention a drastically improved Greivous himself. And once again, you guys in the US still have it better than everyone else in the world, some of us are paying more than double what you are already. How does $30 for the Swampspeeder become £30? Currency conversion doesn't work just by changing the symbols.
-
Prices there don't seem too bad.. nothing on the level of the swampseeder at least. The Slave 1, Turbo Tank and Shuttle where always going to be pretty expensive sets. Wampa Cave, Greivous and Plo Koon's Starfighter seem reasonable.
-
Yeah, I do like that they seem to be going for some more in-between sets this year. Plo Koon's and Greivous' starfighters, despite being from the CW line, could easily be from either, the inclusion of Nahdar Vebb with Greivous is the only thing that point to it being a CW set.
-
I personally don't mind either way, I quite like the Clone Wars sets, a lot of the CW faces give the minifigs a lot of personality and are very cute. But some of them definitely go too far, the Anakin is a little too creepy and the eyes are often too big. But I'm fine either way, I could care less if it's a CW set or a perquel set or whatever. I just got my Barriss Offee and she looks great beside Ahsoka and the other CW minifigs.

Surprised it took anyone so long to say something like this! Episodes 7, 8 and 9 were spoken of a very long time ago, but it's since been said they're not going to happen. If they did, they certainly wouldn't be done when Lucas is so old.. the main focus now is the Clone Wars, and the Live Action TV series. I can't pretend to know what else is planned, but I don't see why he'd ever do those movies. Lucas doesn't acknowledge the majority of the expanded universe, so the movies would only serve to overwrite a lot of the established lore and annoy the fans. The reason he's sticking to the Clone Wars era, and the gaps between III-IV is because it's largely untouched by the fandom. (not to mention much more interesting) Sorry to drag this more and more off-topic, but I felt that needed to be addressed. Let's hope not. The last thing we need is more pointless Vulture droids to bump up the price. But the picture of the box didn't show one, although it's a prelim, if they were planning on including one, I'm sure they could have thrown one in. They even had basic/unpainted versions of the wampa and Aayla, I'm sure they would have had a vulture lying around to use as a stand in. I also have to agree with Zzz. If Rockinkurt is actually working for Lego, he's risking a lot by posting on here. While leaks like this may not be uncommon, there's only so many people working at the company that he could possible be, and eventually he's going to be found out.
-
This is what I was thinking as well, but couldn't quite remember which episode it was from. Was positive he did have some kind of speeder in one episode though, and I doubt they would have labeled it as a speeder if they meant his ship. More likely it's because the SW line has seen an explosion of popularity, certainly here in the UK where the sets are near impossible to find in stores. That's why we had that Sky News report that showed off some of the 2010 sets.
-
Oh wow, I've been waiting for a Jedi Luke in a cheaper set forever. Not sure how keen I'd be on another shuttle set though, we just had that Mace Windu one and now we're getting Palpatines as well.
