  1. I love the OT as much as the next guy, but again.. we currently have a very popular TV series running, which is introducing a lot of new characters, vehicles and locations. It makes much more sense to release sets based on those things rather then the 20+ year old movies that have already been done to death. Especially when we see so many complaints about remakes of old sets.. what else is there left to do? Personally, I'd love to see a new system scale Millennium Falcon and Sail Barge, but I'm sure they'll come. Eventually.
  2. Mandalore existed before the EU, it just wasn't fleshed out. The fact George Lucas wanted to take it in a different direction than what the fans thought it should have been isn't his fault. Although, in my opinion, it definitely seems their building up to Mandalore reverting to a more war like civilization. Either by Satine turning evil or by Deathwatch taking control, but I expect to see some kind of story like this for the season finale.. But my point was that Vos (other than his basic appearance) was completely an EU creation. So saying "Hey look EU fans, it's Vos!" and then completely changing him wouldn't make much sense. Anyway, I somewhat enjoyed the new episode. Wasn't particularly exciting and felt more like filler than anything else, but it had a very different tone from the past few episodes and I think it's good to change things up every now and again. It had some really cool set pieces. Bane didn't come off as incompetent, which I was worried would happen and the build up for the next episode was good. Pretty average in all, but at least better than those two Mandalore episodes.
  3. This is the same type of message any manufacturer will give you.. they aren't going to tell you "don't bother buying a Turbo Tank, etc, for Christmas, because you can just wait and get the magnets". They want you to buy the expensive sets before announcing cheaper alternatives. Whoever's operating the phones also isn't going to be aware of plans to release new sets. But I'd be willing to bet we see Bane and Aayla in magnet sets by next year
  4. This is where things begin to get touchy. I don't care about the EU at all.. as has been discussed before, the EU is essentially fanfiction that can be overwritten at any point by Lucas or the writers of this show. I don't care if they changed what the EU has said previously about Greedo or Aurra Sing because all of that was just EXPANDED fiction. Non canon. But Vos is a character that directly comes from the EU, so he's obviously there to appeal to the EU fans, so changing what's already established about his character would be a very bizarre move and there'd be no reason to use him over a completely brand new character. So it'll be interesting to see what they do with him.. It may draw in some of the EU fans who've been completely against the show up until now but could very easily make them hate it even more right away too.
  5. I have to disagree with you on "episode quality". While everything after the first two wasn't particularly good, there has been a noticeable increase in the quality of animation, how the characters act and the diversity and graphics of the models.. Obi-wan has clearly been improved, he looks a lot more detailed than he did in previous seasons, we've seen robes on characters like Shaak-ti and there's been a lot less duplicated characters popping up. I also think "Assassin" has redeemed the season after a luckluster run of episodes, so hopefully they can keep up more of that sort of quality.
  6. Her head tails are definitely bigger, as well as her more human qualities. I'd guess this is simply for one episode set further down the timeline.. but that would be a shame, I'd definitely be in favour of keeping an older version of her in the show, she looks a lot better and it might finally make people realize she's not the same annoying kid who was in the movie. Also worth pointing out that the new action figure leaks also show Obi-wan with his episode III attire. (still with the clone gloves though.) This definitely shows we're moving closer to the Episode III time, but again.. could simply be for a one off episode.
  7. How exactly did you get it for this price? I'm not sure I'd still go for it, but it's at least more reasonable than what the standard price is in the UK.. though I'd be shocked if you aren't hit by import tax ontop of it.
  8. Surprised to see this episode getting so little attention, personally, I think it was easily the best episode of the season so far. One of the best they've ever done, actually. Once again, it showed Ahsoka acting a lot more mature than what people give her credit for and while it wasn't the most action packed episode, it dealt with the character relationships perfectly. Aurra Sing makes a really great villain as well.. Episode was only let down by having Zirro. :P
  9. I'm sure we'll see Vos in a later set, he still hasn't appeared in the CW series yet.. and although he obviously will in this series, I guess they want to hold off until he actually has made an appearence. Until then, Shaak Ti and Luminara, etc, make more sense to be included. I'm really happy we're finally getting a new Rex minifig, missed out on him with the AT-TE and he's one of the main characters! Overall, I'm more impressed with these sets than I thought I would be. I still think the Halo and the Jedi shuttle are pretty poor designs, but the rest of them look great and those two are helped by their very unique minifigs.
  10. Yep, they've already said her Jedi backstory is being completely disregarded for being mind numblingly generic. Whenever there's a popular character in the EU they ALWAYS have to become more important and ALWAYS have some kind of Jedi history. It's tedious, and not cool. She's a much more interesting character just being the awesome Bounty Hunter rather than another fallen Jedi. I do agree that changing some things in the CW have been uncessesary, but this is one point I definitely agree with the producers. Make her a Jedi and you turn her into an almost exact clone of Asajj Ventress, what's the point?
  11. The episode was better than the last one, but yeah.. still not particularly interesting. I do get the feeling they're just trying to set up Mandalore and the characters there for something later in the series though. Likely a big battle with Death Watch, so I can forgive them for these two dull episodes if it has a decent pay off down the road. The next episode also starts the Ahsoka visions/Night sisters plot, so things should get better from here. I did like Ahsoka's development in this episode though, once again showed her growing up a little and how far she's come from the happy-go-lucky Mary Su from the movie. I'm surprised a lot of fans are completely unwilling to forgive her. The only point I agree with here is that her costume definitely seemed a little inappropriate for teaching. She may as well have been wearing a bikini. When the series originally started, the animation was pretty bad and they didn't really have the budget to do anything like robes. But now we've seen everything improve so much and characters like Shaak-ti who DO wear robes, it'd be nice to see them update her look a little. Might help to push the fact that she's a little more grown up now too.
  12. Not particularly wowed by any of the new sets, but it'll at least be interesting to see what minifigs they come with. That seems to be the focus with the 2011 sets we have seen, as well as the new Harry Potter sets. I would really love a new Qui-Gon minifig.
  13. Like I said, I loved a lot of the background details and the setting, but the actual plot was just dull and although it's nice to see some strong female characters, it's getting a bit ridiculous to have a senator getting into situations like this all the time not to mention the duchess. Maybe the two of them should put together a team of people who don't suck and are actually trustworthy?
  14. I normally defend the show, but after watching the recent episode I'm tempted to say: "worst episode ever". But I do think there was a lot of good animation and background details that put it just above some of the earlier episodes. Also seemed they tried to somewhat appease the EU fans who were upset about the change to the Mandaloreans. The planet isn't quite the utopia we were lead to believe and Satine herself even showed signs of being a pretty nasty person underneath. I liked that they fleshed her character out a bit and didn't just go the easy route by having her interacting with Obi-wan or Death Watch again.
  15. Not surprised about the rumoured Mace Windu starfighter and I don't doubt it for a second. The instant I saw it in that episode, I figured they'd turn it into a set. They're popular sets, probably because they come with nice characters, a little spaceship and they're cheap. So if they're selling well, of course they're going to do more and Mace's looks different enough (being white) from the rest to bother making a set of. So I'm not bothered that we're getting another one, but I am looking forward to when the show decides to switch over to the Eta-2 model starfighters.
  16. Chuchi has a very big fanbase, consdering she's only had one fairly minor role thus far. And the love interest thing was just a joke, as the two are teamed up in this episode and a romance plot involving Ahsoka has been hinted at. Though I must say a relationship like that for Ahsoka would be far more interesting than the inevitable Anakin-esque teen boy for her to pine over. But it's obviously not something they'd ever do.
  17. Nobodies mentioned Chuchi's appearence in the next episode yet? She was a hugely popular character, for all of the 2 minutes she's been on in the past and her inclusion here, being teamed up with Ahsoka seems to be pure fan service. (especially as Ashley Eckstien mentioned a possible Ahsoka love interest in an interview. )
  18. Apologies if this has been mentioned, but I thought it was rather cool.. Also, be warned of the slight spoilers for season 3. It was mentioned on one of the Cartoon Network videos that because of Ahsoka's size, and her tendancy to use a reverse grip with her lightsaber, Anakin has been teaching her new techniques to better defend herself, by using a new weapon. Seems she's going to be adopting a very piratey fighting stance, similar to Vyse from Skies of Arcadia. I also think the Secret Apprentice should be taking notes. Holding two lightsabers backwards is not only very stupid looking, it's also completely useless! This is at least a real stance that would be useful in a fight!
  19. As someone who isn't at all a fan of the EU, I have to say I really enjoyed the Mandalore episodes and I think their new depiction makes a lot of sense. For a planet and race of people who've been completely focused on war for so long, I think it makes sense that their leaders and politicians would eventually try to reverse this image, and thus the planet would gradually turn towards peace rather than war. Although obviously there was still a (rather large) segment of the population that believed otherwise, and that's why we have Death Watch. I felt this made the mandaloreans far more interesting and less two dimensional than how they've been represented in the past. I can understand why many fans of the EU are upset that their books and stories have essentially been completely overwritten.. But I don't know why that comes as such a surprise. Lucas has always said he doesn't consider any of these canon and so their basically side stories or "what if" scenarios. Filoni is at least trying to leave room for many of the EU elements to still be possible alongside TCW, and I think even that is something the EU fans should be very grateful for. More on topic with the actual episode.. Again, I really did like it a lot. I do agree that the Satine character was a little over the top at times, she really introduced a whole new level of character depth to Obi-wan, and I'd have to highlight the moment when he admits that he would have left the order if she asked him to. Plus it's always fun having a character that can match wits with him, some of the exchanges between them were rather amusing.
  20. Obviously as the game is still in beta there's quite a few problems.. However, I've run into quite a serious one. I'm unable to equip any of the itmes required for a particular quest, which prevents me from completing it and going any further into the game. I've tried everything, right down to trashing the items, but now I just don't have them at all, and there seems to be no way to restart the quest. Has anyone else expierenced this? I tried to email the support team, but all I've gotten back is a generic automated "this is a beta.." reply.
  21. Definitely wrong. Look back at the Aayla Secure prelims, etc. The Quinlan is very obviously just using Hermoine's hair and Boba Fett's face with a yellow sticker over it. You can be pretty sure the final version won't look like that, and ditto for the wonky looking Shaak Ti and Tin. Like I said a few pages back, seems like a waste of time discussing these when the final versions are going to look much better. The sets themselves likely won't change much, if at all.. But these figs will.
  22. I'm pretty sure we'll see the Eta-2's in the CW shortly. They actually flat out destroyed Anakins starfighter in one of the later episodes in CW Season 2, and I thought they'd use that as an excuse to bring in a newer one, at least for him. Oddly, he just received an identical one, which seemed like a missed oppertunity. But still, I'm sure they'll show up, especially now that we're moving towards the Phase II troopers, etc. I don't think I've really said anything about the new sets so far.. the new minifigures look okay, but people really need to remember their preliminaries. There's no real point of judging them at the moment because the finished versions will not look like these ones which have obviously been quickly cobbled together, particularly Quinlan Vos - who again is just using generic minifig hair and Boba's face with a sticker over it.
  23. Her Jedi backstory has been abandoned for the Clone Wars. The lead producer felt it made her too similar to Ventress, plus he didn't like the style of the EU giving any remotely cool character a Jedi backstory and a lightsaber. (you'd be hard pushed to find any EU character where this isn't the case). So instead, she's now officially just an awesome bounty hunter. Which in my opinion, was 100% the right move.
  24. Okay, we should definitely take this to a different thread now, but just to point out: The season 1 minifigs sold out so quickly because Lego severely underestimated the popularity. They really never expected them to have such mainstream appeal. I'm quite sure seasons 2 and 3 won't suffer from shortages. It's definitely something I'd love to see as well. Megablocks have already copied the idea of random minifigs but with the Halo liscence attached, which I'd have been extremely interested in, if they weren't megablocks.
  25. Just to back that up a little more.. Jedi News' source has always been 100% correct in the past. I see no reason to doubt this list.
