  1. Thanks! Now busy with designing a track. I think I'll put some white plates on it and some bridges with radar dishes... anyone some other nice suggestions?
  2. If Classic Space is introduced again with the same colour scheme, a lot of persons would like to have the old original sets too. Demand gets higher so prices will go up to...
  3. I hope TLG sees something in a reboot of the classic space themes mentioned above but I believe that the kids of these days need more "action" (conflict) in the themes and Classic Space is a bit too soft for that. Don't get me wrong: I love Classic Space and I don't like the current space sets at all but the kids of today are competely different from the kids 25 years ago. Unfortunately...
  4. I've built in the pneumatics but I'm not sure about the result. It's a bit "full"... First car: airtank and pump. I tried a compressor but it wasn't strong enough to open the doors within. 10 seconds: it took around 30 seconds. With the air in the tank, I can open and close the doors twice. The second car contains the motor, lineair actuator and valve. The third car contains the IR receiver and battery.
  5. De body of the train has been finished! Coupling between the cars: Next challenge: opening the doors with a remote control using pneumatics
  6. Nice work! Did you steal my monorail-look-alike-train-idea?
  7. That could be an idea; I'll need to have a look at that how it looks!
  8. I agree with JopieK: Germany is less expensive for new sets. But I think there are quite a lot Bricklink stores located in the Netherlands, taken in account the size of the country. And that drives down the prices of the parts.
  9. Impressive... 50cm long model, very nice job! can't wait to see the real thing!
  10. Yes, I really like the contrast of the trans dark blue (that isn't available in LDD) and the white bricks too... When It's finished there will be a video with the monorail and some other space sets! Looking forward shooting it! One little problem: the little cars between the cars contain 4 wheels each side and because of that it cannot make curve. I can remove two wheels but that looks a bit weird so I need to come up with something for this...
  11. Still doubting about that one: I ordered also trans-red parts :)
  12. Unfortunately I don't have much time these weeks, but here is a start: And the doors: I'm working on a system that will open the doors automatically using pneumatic cilinders...
  13. There were 4 seperate lines and regulaors. On the two longest tracks (bridge) were 3 trains in total, making a total of 5 trains running. More trains would need a longer layout :)
  14. Yeah, lights, pff... I had this big 400W construction lamp that I normally use when shooting a video. Otherwise there's too less light in the room and the image becomes all fuzzy. But the construction lamp failed so I decided to use a just newly received LED strip that I had ordered for a walk-in closet in the bedroom. But it turns out that the shitty thing didn't work very well: it was flickering constantly. But that was the only thing I had. Seeing the video's afterwards it could have been done without it though...
  15. My girlfriend was away for a day so I called a friend of mine: Me: "Girlfiend's out: lego trains?" He: "Cool!" At least, it went something like that! We decided to move some furniture out of the living room and install a huge layout with all the lego (train) sets I have. It was quite fun, we had some problems with the bridge: the trains came down to fast but we solved it and everything ran pretty smooth. I hope you'll enjoy the video :)
  16. Why is it that TLG is selling just complete trains and not additional cars like during the 12V and 9V era? As a kid I drooled always on the catalogs with the additional stuff for my train (that I never got though). The kids of these days don't want that stuff anymore?? Can't imagine...
  17. The 12V system has by far the most traction. I recently built a ramp for a 9V track system. I had to use 14 tracksegments to get to a height of 12 bricks. Once I cleared this problem, another problem emerged: when the train is going down it picks up quite some speed so you need to keep that in mind too (unless you want to regulate the speed down every loop). I actually needed at least 16 segments of track that was going down: otherwise it was too steep and the train would derail in a curve. So keep that in mind too.. If you don't have the space to make a nice up moving ramp, you don't have it either for going down. So you'll have to come up with a braking system aswell... So I'd go with Dundarach's first option: try to get rid of the ramp...
  18. Interesting to know. If you've tested it, please post here your findings...
  19. This sounds more something like an EU-thing: they're always busy with these kinds of things instead of the real European problems (but that's another discussion)
  20. 12V was the best with the remote options and I had a lot of it. But I switched to 9V rails instead. Why? Every time I broke down a track (I don't have the luxury of an attic where I can leave the track laying around (yet)) a lot of sleepers broke because they were 25 years old. The 9V system is MUCH stronger so I sold the 12V stuff (kept something for nostalgic reasons). Best decision ever. But I agree with the switch points: that was one stupid mistake of TLG. And I still wonder why the hell they switched back to batteries: parents will have to buy tonnes of batteries or a very expensive batterybox...
  21. This was the first thing that came up in my mind too: I think you'll have a problem at switches and I'm not sure how the cars look on a curved track... Nice design though, but I'd go for a few studs less...
  22. Speechless... Amazing job, well done!
  23. Thanks! I indeed looked at some old spaceships (which are the best imo).. Hmm, I like the idea but I'm not sure if it fits somewhere in the design, got any suggestions? BTW: It just popped up in my head that I've made a huge mistake! The carriages are fixed with eachother! The bogies can turn now, but the carriages not so this won't work in curves I'll find a solution...
  24. Yes, seats are coming too. Just ordered everything: I needed 15 Bricklink orders to get all the parts needed
  25. Ah yeah I was already thinking: "there's missing something here... "! Thanks for the tip, something like this looks nice, doesn't it?
