  1. I've taken a good look at the 6990 and I tried some things to make the train look more like it. I think it looks pretty great and stills spacey now :)
  2. How about this door design: Yellow plate is a tile so the door opens in two parts :)
  3. Good thoughts but I already looked into that and I couldn't find something suitable. Most panels/windscreens/wedges don't fit the shape of the train to make a nice door. But I've came up with a few things; I'll work it out this evening in LDD when I'm home again :)
  4. Hmm, thanks. That could be a nice option! I'll try to work it out in LDD tomorrow. But I have to be carefull that the train doesn't look too much like the 4561, as it is (in my opinion) one of the ugliest trains TLG has produced so far But it has some spacey looks indeed. I'm still struggling with the doors. I can't come up with a hinge-based solution (to get rid of the regular train doors). I want the doors to open like sliding doors or like gull wing doors but I can't come up with a good idea. Does someone have a good suggestion?
  5. Already saw the vid on YT, really nice job! I like all the details you've put into it!
  6. It maybe looks a bit less real but more spacey.. I don't know, but I had the same feeling...
  7. Yes, I saw the trans-black windows too... I've made also a version without doors. What do you think? With or without doors??
  8. Added a carriage and some extra spacey features. This is definitely going to be something I think! Too bad that the train door windows don't come in transparent dark blue... I'm convinced, I'm going to build this!
  9. Thanks for the advices, I found the parts in the extended mode indeed. Current design now: This looks indeed better than the HE nose, which makes the train even one stud higher, using the current windscreen. To give it a more spacey look, I've added some trans orange thingies. What do you all think of this?
  10. Cool thanks!is this part also available in LDD? I couldn't find such a part in LDD last night...
  11. Oh that's a great idea! Working on it in LDD, I'll let you know!
  12. Good idea Neonic and Ronenson! I've updated the Bricklink order with that wedge. Now there are two possibilities: use one wedge or two wedges: The problem with two wedges: how do I make it fit nicely to the bottom plate? As far as I know there isn't a wedge plate that goes from 6 studs to 4 studs in 2 studs with. Any suggestions??
  13. Patience... The first parts have been bricklinked I just thought about it and I don't think blue would be the right colour: the Futuron set don't have blue in them either. But a stripe would be nice. The possibilities are a bit limited because of the horizontal bar under the windows (which I quite like). I've worked out two possibilities: I think I prefer the left. What do you think?
  14. Just got some more "professional" storage. Before I used cardboard boxes...
  15. I couldn't find those boxes in LDD... What do you think about the angle above the door and the windscreen? Is there a way to smoothen it a bit more?
  16. Wow thanks, I didn't know that part! Then it would look something like this: But I'm a bit worried about this angle: it seems it's a bit "open". I could raise the windscreen by one plate, but that means that the roof has to rise to which makes the whole thing a bit "bulky" perhaps. Any suggestions??
  17. So I tried something in LDD, it's one of the first (serious) things that I've designed in LDD. Bare with me: I couldn't find all the parts (like the train wheels). LDD doesn't have dark trans blue as colour either so I had to choose light trans blue. I made one basic model and a bit advanced model: What do you think? I guess I like the bars on the second one. Does anyone have some ideas how to make it a bit more "spacy"?
  18. I thought about blue+trans yellow also. And although I like classic space a lot, I think the futuron colours would look better on this train. Maybe because it then still is a "normal" train instead of a space train. I don't know why. But that's also something I can find out with LDD. I'll let you know!
  19. yes...
  20. Yes thought about LDD. Maybe I'll make a model in it to see how it looks!
  21. 160 Euro on Bricklink. For that price you've got one that's a bit yellowed...
  22. Yes, I used both types, close to the motor (as far as possible with train motors), etc.
  23. Every selfrespecting Lego fan (AFOL's at least) knows the epic 6990 Futuron Monorail: As a kid I always wanted one and obviously never got one. I still want one but I think it's quite expensive and I'm more into trains. So I came up with the idea to combine the looks of the beauty above with the (also vintage) 7745 passenger train: So a 7745 in the colours of the 6990. A white train with trans dark blue windows. The train windows could be replaced by 4x3 trans dark blue panels. With some extra features one could design a nice train. What are your thoughts of it? I'm seriously considering to build it. The only thing that holds me back is the fact that it will need around 20 Bricklink orders and around 200 Euro to build it.. if you have good motivations and ideas, maybe I'll take the jump and order the whole shabang :)
  24. Yes.. I tried capacitors, LC networks, the whole shabang ;)
  25. Thank you all for the nice comments, glad you like it! Then I can finally lean back and relax I had these micro motors laying around but indeed: they are quite expensive these days. One could use technic M-motors too, but their speed is something like 10x faster so you need to gear them down which results in (even) a bigger housing for the bars. I tried to fit the sensors on the sleepers between the rails but the sensors were just too high. I think they would fit if you raise the track by only one plate so it's doable. I wanted to change the sensors as these sensors don't work very well, if I've found sensors that work more secure (less sensitive to electrical noise) I'll try to fit them between the rails. I'll post my findings here (takes a while tough: sensors are still at dealextreme warehouse )
