EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread
Thrash replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Here’s a picture of a layout I was thinking about. Each one of the small squares would be a 16x16 base, and then the bigger squares would be 32x32. The two tilted structures you see in the middle would be 16x32…I was thinking those could be a church and something else. To keep the castle symmetrical, we could make all four of the corner towers be the same (5=13=21=29). Then we could have the guardhouse be at location 1, and the other three big bases could be reserved for other large structures (stables, mess hall for the soldiers, etc.). And of course, the keep would be at location 33. Obviously, there is a lot of room in the center of the castle for whatever we want to put in there. Also, there are so many slots on the outer walls that we’ll probably have room left over after adding the best entry of each type. Maybe at the end we could have a wildcard competition of some sort so that all of the best runners up can get in the castle too. Also, I think that we should just stick with the wall design that’s been posted in the first post. It seems to have worked fine for all three of the submissions so far… Let me know what you guys think! ~Thrash -

I'm excited to see the layout for the castle... ~Thrash -
Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys! Sounds to me like the bottom floor is good as is, the cannon ball needs to be changed from a helmet on the second floor, and the top floor has a lot of problems. It's interesting that that's the case...originally my idea was just to have the top floor. I thought that the pirate flying through the air towards the guard would make for a really neat scene. Then when I was building I thought, "Hey, it might be cool if I added some action on the floors below." Good thing I added the floors below, or this MOC would have really fallen flat... As for the bandana on the soldier on the second floor...the only reason I did that was to cover up the back of his face. I really like the front of that face...but it has the stupid double printing so it looks stupid if you use a regular hat. I might just have to put a yellow decal over the back of his head to cover up the smiley face. I'll be back at home with my Lego collection sometime this weekend, so be sure to check back for updates Saturday or Sunday! ~Thrash

Thanks for the comments guys! Hahaha, I like your comment about the dwarf woman Cagri. I figured that since we've never seen dwarven women, it would be fair for me to make them be sexy and scantily clad. Also Cagri, i took a lot of inspiration from the blacksmith shop you posted a little earlier in this topic. I liked what you had so much that it inspired me to make my own! The bucket of water with the sword in it and the design for the upstairs fire place are both similar to what you had... ~Thrash

Vig. 26a Here's my first entry for the PTV contest small division. It's a scene with Pirates launching a surprise attack on an Imperial fort one morning. Overview: Before the guard on the roof knew what was going on, a pirate was hurtling towards him off of a ship. He quickly tried to blow his horn to alert everyone one... But he was too late. A cannon ball came sailing through the side of the fort... And through the soldier working the cannon... Meanwhile, on the bottom floor, pirates had attacked from land as well and reached the Governor's daughter. Luckily, she had put a barrel and treasure chest in front of the door to block them from getting her... But one had already snuck in to her room and was hiding on the ceiling! Does the Governor's daughter survive the attack?! Guess you'll have to wait until my Medium division entry to find out... Thanks for looking! Oh yea, I was wondering if a Mod could tell me if it's ok that a few bricks on my entry go outside the 8x8 limit. I figured that since it was just in a few spots and I didn't do any major overlapping it wouldn't be a big deal. ~Thrash

Here's my try at the Blacksmith's shop. Front: Back: Close-up of the front of the shop: Top-down view of the shop: The upstairs complete with a female dwarf (that looks suspiciously like a shorter slave version of princess Leia): One last kind of blurry shot of the upstairs: I hope that it met all of the requirements. If it doesn't, or if there's anything you think I could change to make it better, let me know! ~Thrash

I'd like to join the build. I made a blacksmith shop today that fits the criteria. I'll try to get the pictures up in the blacksmith's shop thread as soon as I have them ready. ~Thrash -
Here's another. I think it's the pirate female from the big new ship coming out. And then I assume they're counting the two girls from the new Medieval Market as 2 more... ~Thrash

I think that this is a list of all the new items coming out. In addition to these, they've also split up the packs of items like the Greek Armor set. Arabian Helmet Centurion Helmet Dwarven Helmet Gladiator Helmet Legionary Helmet Space Marine Helmet Turban Gladius Khopesh Megagun Pilum Spiked Mace Trident Space Marine Armor Gladiator Mask Segmented Pualdrons Scutum Commander Crest Space Marine Visor For some reason I haven't really been able to find pictures of these from Brickworld, but I could find a picture of Trident. Also, the Khopesh can be found in the following picture in one of the bins at the bottom left. The list I made of the new items came from looking at brickforge's new store: http://www.brickforge.com/store/home.php

Hahaha...I guess I should have known this would turn into a discussion about troll boobs, physics, and political correctness. Imperialshadows had a good idea to just change the skin to yellow and lose the buckle...so here is a nice peasant lady decal: Also, I changed the chain on the belt to match the official lego trolls a little better, so here's that new decal: Sir Dano, I'll see what I can come up with for a female troll in battle gear...expect that later today or this week. ~Thrash

Thanks for all the comments guys! In case anyone needs the decal of the regular trolls, here are some decals I made earlier today: EDIT: I also updated my custom troll design to be more consistent with the official troll designs: Also, be sure to check out the new Troll Lady I made to go with the White Troll! ~Thrash

Here is a troll lady I designed the other day. On the left is the troll lady with regular decal paper, on the right is the troll lady with some new clear decals I got. There were a few problems with the clear one, but I'm really pleased with the way the face came out. Here are the decals I used. They were made with a combination of Microsoft Word and Paint. As always, feel free to use these decals, just be sure to give me credit! ~Thrash

No problem. I assume you plan on printing it out and putting it on a minifig...I can't wait to see how it turns out! Be sure to post a picture for me once you have the figure made! Just curious...what helmet do you plan on using for the fig? ~Thrash

Here you go Sir Dano, I made your decal. I think it turned out kind of boring, but there you go. Next time I recommend choosing a torso with more interesting details or more vibrant colors so that the decal turns out a bit more exciting. Link. ~Thrash
-
Sir Dano requested someone make a decal of this: So here it is: I feel like it would have been better if there had been more details or color in the picture, but I tried to stay as close to the actual thing as possible. ~Thrash

Khorne, I made the Dwarf shield decal for you. Hopefully I can finish the others soon. It can be found here. ~Thrash
-
Khorne requested that someone make the Dwarf, Elf, and Skeleton shield decals, so here is the Dwarf one. If you're looking to print it, I think you wanna make it about .63" by .63" Hopefully I can get the Elf and the skeleton one done soon. Does anyone know what color the elf shield should be, or should I just take a guess? ~Thrash
-
Absolutely...also, here is the regular troll face in sand green and white in case you need either without the scar. Hope that helps!
-
Thanks for the comments guys, I'm glad you like it! VBBN, here is the torso in sand green:

Here's a custom troll I made the other day. I used paint to make these two decals: If you wanna use the decals, feel free, just give me credit. ~Thrash

Ever since LEGO seemed to be taking ideas from Lord of the Rings I've thought that it would be awesome if they did some guys like the easterlings. Those giant elephants that they ride on would be so awesome to have.

This set is now on LEGO S@H for the US.

I'm actually working on making a program in Excel 07 right now (might convert it to Access 07) where there is a list of all the lego weapons, armor, and helmets. Then there is another list of characters with inventory where you can select weapons, armor, and helmets from the other list. Then, there is a final page where it predicts who would win in a 1 vs 1 fight and what damage is done depending on the dice roll. I'm not quite finished indexing all the weapons quite yet, but if anyone wants to take a look at it and has Microsoft Excel, let me know and I'll post a copy of it.

Yea, good point guys. The old skeletons with the new faces are a little shady. Guess it is fake.

I was scanning the recent folders on brickshelf and came across this: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2713456 It looks like Lego's finally giving us a Greek line!
