The Batmobile vs Joker's Mobile Disco Truck
Righteous Squid replied to Righteous Squid's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks Again. With the Joker still on the loose things can only get crazier. Batman vs Joker at The Crazy Clown coming soon(ish). Perhaps if you had read my introduction you wouldn't be so confident... :skull: But seriously , now that I have uncovered your little secret and laid out my credentials perhaps I can persuade you to forget about flick fire missiles and big rubber missile shooters. Actual laughing gas functionality is the way forward. Just think of the play possibilities. -
Lego have gone too far in changing the cemetery set. Not only have they robbed Batbrick of his Robin cycle but they now are including only one guy with the skull painted on his face. There goes my plan to get two sets so I could have four henchmen for Scarecrow. No way am I getting four of these sets and One henchman just isn't enough. This has moved from my must-have list to my maybe list. On the other hand the boat chase scene has moved up my list of priorities (I hadn't noticed the dark tan before)
-
I was able to iron out a small structural problem in redoing it so thanks for prompting me to do it. I still have a couple of tings I want to do to finish it of completely though. I had to 'borrow' a lot of slopes from the Batmobile and other models to do this but at least I had taken my photos first so they can be restored when I get more. Will do (Check back next year, I might have posted it by then)

The Scarecrow's Fear Harvester vs The BatGlider
Righteous Squid replied to Righteous Squid's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sorry I felt terrible it had taken so long. I don't like to make excuses but I have a full time job lecturing, a full time family (two kids aged 6 and nine months), a part time PhD, and a slow internet to contend with. I actually had the pictures taken along with Joker van and uploaded to Brickshelf within a matter of days but haven't been able to find the time to post. Still semester is finished in about two weeks - then theres just the marking to get out of the way. They are still together and some over a year old now - apart from the occassional piece 'borrowed' from some models to complete another (I think my yellow car is the only model shown so far that has been substantially deconstructed, in that case for Penguin's duck so I'm not too sad)- I'm working on building up a Gotham over time and now plan to graduate to buildings. I imagine the process of collecting enough bricks will be slow. -
The Batmobile vs Joker's Mobile Disco Truck
Righteous Squid replied to Righteous Squid's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm quite fond of the pop-up guns. I had to get rid of the ugly lego shooter but wanted some element of functionality. These are inspired by the pop up machine guns on the Burton Batmobile of course. Yes, indeed, we need more Baman models. Why should Star Wars, City and Pirates have the limelight to themselves? Maybe if we show our commitment to Lego Batman we will shame Lego back into releasing more sets. Thanks I liked the missiles/cannons on the Joker's copter so I decided to keep them as a feature of the truck. Joker fits comfortably at the controls in the back of the truck when the top is down. Thanks again. Not sure why you'd be so keen to include flick fire missiles (you're not an employee of Lego's design team by any chance? ) but I don't think they would then fit down into the body. Well next time I get an invite I'll be sure to attend and let you know. By the grins on everyones faces it must by good. -
That quite a collection you have there with some great characters. I'm somewhat envious of the number of fleshies you have aquired. I feel like petitioning Lego to completely change to fleshies but I imagine I might be hung drawn and quartered if I dared do that outside of the Licensed forum. Look forward to seeing more on Arkham.

The Scarecrow's Fear Harvester vs The BatGlider
Righteous Squid replied to Righteous Squid's topic in LEGO Licensed
Once again thanks. Until I saw your MOC I hadn’t worked out what I was going to do for the Scarecrow that would do him justice (he is my favorite Batman villain after all, no offence intended to your good self of course). I really liked the biplane but it just didn’t seem to fit in my vision of Gotham, and it wasn't scary enough. Sorry for the wait but I can now reveal the special secret technique for creating a scarecrow hat – nothing so barbaric as chewing – it took me a good year or so to teach my son not to chew Lego and was not about to undo all that effort. Ingredients: One Johnny thunder hat (I never did like them and have too many). Under no circumstances attempt this with a fedora or I will petition to have you banned from Eurobricks for gross indecency. Step one: Mangle your Johnny Thunder hat with some wire cutters or similar. Do not worry if you make a mistake just mangle another one… Step two: Put the mangled hat on scarecrows head. Simple as that. Thanks guys. Thanks Batbrick. The harvester is my favorite creation yet. I was once again amazed at what I was able to build with a limited supply of brown and tan that I thought were only odds and ends. As I started to add all the chains and blades I was worried I was getting carried away but I am pleased with the final result. The wheels on the front used for the harvester blades are from the Skeleton Prison Carriage. I had bought four as parts packs and Army builders and didn’t know what I was going to do with so many wheels. As always feel free to copy my ideas and designs (you don’t even need to ask). You caught me out there. I cheated for the sake of the story – I needed a low tech vehicle for Batman in this one and just built it quickly. I actually used these pieces for the different wing positions: However, thoroughly chastened by your request I went back to the drawing board and came up with a working design which is also much more satisfying and actually very effective once you get Batman’s hands in the right position. It works with either the old binocular piece or the Star Wars one. My son loves it. With the hinge you can of course use two black pieces. I just used grey and black for clarity in the photos. Thanks. I rather enjoyed parodying these Batman conventions. And I particularly enjoyed torturing the professor in this one. Thanks. I’m not sure why it looks a bit blurred. It looks very clear and crisp on the picture before I upload it. Thanks. Thanks In Batman Begins he is afraid of Bats but if I recall he overcomes that fear. I don’t remember him being afraid of bats in any of the other iterations of Batman I have encountered. -
Well it is always a pleasure to torture the professor for your entertainment. I'm not sure how much more he can take though. He's not gay, he just has an unnatural and unhealthy obsession with artificial hair replacement products which seems to be spiralling out of control. Still, at least he hasn't tried dabbling in facial hair to compensate ... not yet anyway thanks Sorry, no croc spray Thanks for the detailed comments Batbrick. They are greatly appreciated. I’m quite pleased with this boat as I was trying to use up the hull that had been sitting for a year doing nothing, and a box full of random white pieces. I was amazed at what I was able to build with them. I do like the little bit of dark green here except for the weird piece on the side (again trying to use up random pieces). I hope to upgrade this once I come into possession of more white slopes. Sadly dark green pieces of a suitable shape are hard to come by and I haven’t got enough of a selection. The joker card is an invitation for a confrontation still to come – now posted. Windows are one thing I don’t have enough of, except for the massive windshields that you see in the middle of the boat and on Killer Croc’s boat which I have to many of. Partly due to the misguided purchase of the Mobile Devastator. The step up to the dining area from the kitchen is for the purposes of play. Its difficult to put the figures into the seats lower down. As with all my MOCs this is built for my son to play with. He wanted this to be a Star Wars ship until I put in the kitchen, dining area, TV lounge and bedroom, then he loved it and had a lot of fun playing with it. Unlike the Robin Speedboat there is a lot of space under the canopy for storing things. Killer could even sleep in there. Unlike other models where camera angle and lighting carefully chosen can show them at their best, I found that no matter how I took the pictures it seemed to take away from how sleek it looks in the brick. It does need decals (something like the official Croc Boat) or some dark green to give it a lift though. Maybe some time in the future I will experiment with doing decals. This model was made over a year ago with a very limited selection of Lego – the official Batboat and Batwing were disassembled to build my own with just a few additional pieces. I have tried to upgrade following your comments. As with all my MOCs I will continue to adjust as I obtain alternative pieces. Although I really didn’t like the official Batboat at first it did grow on me. I liked the miniboat idea so kept it and the engines and wings. The rest is closer to my own idea of the Batboat. I may in the future eliminate the engines and batwings altogether but this will do for now… Let me know what you think of the upgrade. Thanks – I really liked the original so didn’t feel the need to do much with it, but I had to do something! No Problem. Go ahead and make one of your own. Killer Croc needs a swamp hut (are there actually any swamps near Gotham? ) I had a bigger hut in mind – one on stilts with a collapsing platform and a crocodile cage trap. Sadly I didn’t have enough Brown bricks. There were more rickety planks on the roof too but I ‘borrowed’ them for the floor of Gotham City Bank and forgot to replace them for the photos. I also had a stool and a table and lamp in the hut at one stage but it is too small for interior play and so they eventually made there way onto other things. Thanks. Maybe in the future I will build a sewer home for Killer. Mostly River chase pieces I think and maybe a few from the Dwarf Mine – I don’t actually own Jungle Cutter and sadly don’t own enough Dark Green.

The Professor is on his way to Gotham's hippest party, Personal invite in hand and brand new wig on head. As he puts on his best Saturday Night Fever strut one thing is on his mind, he's going to get down, party and have a good time... Yeeeaaahhh! Its the Jest for Laughs FM Mobile Disco Shack. Gotham's trendiest new Radio Station is on the air and hitting the streets... Everyone is here, everyone hip and funky that is... The crowd cheers as the rocking laser light extend... The music starts pumping and the crowd goes wild. The professor is an instant hit with the ladies as he throws some funky shapes. The truck starts to belch out green dry ice... ...hold on who is the DJ at the controls? Thats not dry ice... but it seems to be pretty funny - the crowd falls about laughing... Oh dear party goers looks like a party pooping gatecrasher has arrived. The lazers swivel toward the Batmobile ... they pack more punch than a harmless light show... The Batmobile has a sting of its own... Oh no ... bouncing Joker bombs... ...clatter harmlessly of the Batmobile's armoured shell... The Batmobile swings across to force the Disco Truck of the road... But the Mobile Disco Shack is more than a truck... So long Batman - looks like the bad guys win this time... The professor doesn't seem too bothered. Looks like he's finally found a hairstyle he can be happy with... To be continued... The Batmobile is eight wide and fits better with the current city scale. It is built, I think, mostly with parts from the official Batmobile (grey parts replaced with Black equivalent). This was built over a year ago and was what started my Batman MOCing. I had to do it because the official Batmobile was too big. At first I tried simply modding it but after two attempts I just disassembled it and started from scratch. It is a cross between the Tim Burton Batmobile and the Batmobile represented by the UCS set. Feel free to comment ...

Excellent work I especially like Manbat (look forward to seeing him with wings) and the Mad Hatter. Shame Lego didn't release them.

It was Halloween and the Professor was on his way to a party using an extra special wig as a costume. Suddenly two girls ran towards him screaming. For just a moment he thought they were excited to see him, but he then realized that they were totally terrified – they were running from something. The Professor’s heart sank to the pit of his stomach – Something terrible must be coming and he was wearing his favorite wig. Then a man, hopefully in a Halloween costume ran past. ‘Phew’ thought the professor, it’s a false alarm. When he turned the corner, however, he realized that the man had been running in terror too. Fortunately Batman was above testing his new glider and spotted the Harvester… He immediately dove into action… The scarecrow’s crow attacked, knocking Batman from the harvester… “His eyes, my pretties, peck out his eyes!” screamed the Scaraecrow… As Batman shrugged of the crows Scarecrow swung his scythe. Batman rolled just in time… “I fear I cannot let you do this Scarecrow” said Batman forcing the Scarecrow towards the spinning blades of his Fear Harvester… “No Batman, I fear that you must,” said the Scarecrow taking a canister of fear gas from his bag … “My fear harvester will harvest the fear of Gotham, extracting the ‘fearamones’ of the terrified people from the air and turning it into a potent toxin that will bring this city to its knees…” laughed the Scarecrow, “Let me introduce you to my eight legged friends, with the toxin coursing through your body they will stimulate the deepest fears of your subconscious…” “Arrrrghh… Nooo…get off me…” screamed Batman flapping his arms at the imaginary spiders that swarmed over him. “Noooo… Mother…Father….” “And now, your time has come to meet the reaper!” Scarecrow raised his scythe over the helpless Batman… Was this the end for Batman? …thankfully not, here comes one bird not afraid of the Scarecrow. In the meantime the professor was trapped in a nightmare of his own… Many thanks to the penguin for his inspiring MOC and his permission to use the wonderful idea… Enjoy and do feel free to comment…

The professor woke up happy. A good friend had allowed him to borrow his yacht for the week. He made himself some breakfast: Watched a little TV: And thought for a moment about ordering Pizza: But no, he had something else to do first… …in the privacy of his cabin he tried on his brand new wig. Suddenly the cabin darkened as strange reptilian man appeared at the hatch: As the professor fainted the crocodile man took a case from the cupboard and left: …Killer Croc was, however, being followed… As he came to the swamplands Killer Croc switched from his speedboat to the swampboat he had stashed. But he wasn’t going to get away so easily; Batman had a few tricks up his own sleeve… Killer Croc reached his swamphut, but Batman was still on his tail… Killer Croc grinned and whistled: his friends would slow the Batman down while he escaped… But Batman wasn’t deterred by the raging reptiles… But was he too late as Killer roared away in his pick-up? Batman reaches into his never-ending bag of tricks and pulls out a ‘buzz-bat-a-rang’… Cutting off Killer’s escape… Sadly, noone was there to save the professor more heartache… Enjoy , and feel free to comment…

I spent the afternoon photographing my scarecrow and killer croc mocs. I was just about to upload them when I discovered my account was empty and I couldn't add folders. It said there was a server problem. It seems the files are still there but not the folders. On the login pages it says 'x files in 0 folders'. ?

Penguin's Yellow Duck vs Robin's Speedboat
Righteous Squid replied to Righteous Squid's topic in LEGO Licensed
Darn, I forgot to add the pictures of Robin's speedboat with alternate windscreen. Better? -
My preferred idea would be an abattoir and meat packing factory but its more likely I will do a cyro lab if I can get the space police sets (sadly there probably will be no restaurant). thanks. 'Icy' there is 'snow' end to the terrible puns that can ensue from a Mr Freeze MOC Its all MOC made with Lego Thanks - I do have a few more up my sleeve. I'm not finished with the professor just yet.

Nice. Excellent use of the cockpit. I image this at the beginning of a Batman film, the camera following Batman down as he plunges into the crashing waves beneath...
-
Your best work yet, IMHO (don't know how I missed this earlier). I love the Scarecrow's harvester - hilarious If you don't mind I might try and do my own smaller scarecrow harvester in the future. I also especially like the Mayor and your own new outfit. Ras Al' Ghul is fantastic - Lego should release this. thanks.

Penguin's Yellow Duck vs Robin's Speedboat
Righteous Squid replied to Righteous Squid's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks. It’s not my favorite car that I have made, so it’s nice to know that it still has charm for others. Thanks. Though I do like the submarine I was meaning to suggest the yellow duck in the thread for Batman sets we would like to see, but it became obvious that there not going to be any more sets produced so I decided to set about making my own. Elsewhere I posted my Bat Mech that I would loved to have had in a set with Bane, a collapsible wall, a lamppost and a phone-box (Inspired by my son’s favorite episode of ‘The Batman’). Let’s hope in the future someone decides to produce a more child friendly Batman film and gives Lego a reason to reacquire the license. Thanks. It’s nice to build for Robin, even though I have very little in the way of green, red and yellow (it annoys me that the hull is mostly grey), since I can be a little bit more extravagant and over the top than in my Batman designs. Thanks. The speedboat does float quite well in fact, though perhaps it sits a little lw at the back due to the weight of the engine. I may try to fix that sometime. Thanks, I honestly didn’t think it would turn out as well as it did. I think you are right about the canopy on Robin’s speedboat. I built it after building one for Killer Croc along similar design (Which I hope to post soon), but had to add the slopes under it to get a good colour scheme. I was intending to try out the curved windscreen from the Speed Racer cars once I have received them (I work in Africa so it will be the summer before someone can bring them). In the meantime you prompted me to try another windscreen which I hadn’t tried because they were all in use. Pictures of construction are at the end of my post. Sorry I took so long getting the pictures of the duck’s construction posted (I’m working toward a thesis deadline and am terribly behind). Some of the choices in construction are due to the limited pieces available (I hate Lego yellow so I tend not to buy any predominantly yellow sets. I’m hoping the warmer yellow from the penguin sub will become more common). If you have any suggestions for improvement please let me know. Originally I had wanted the wings to raise to reveal cannons but I’m not sure whether that could be achieved on the same scale. I certainly don’t have the right pieces, though I may experiment with non-yellow pieces when I find the time. Thanks. I had actually intended to purchase the Assault Tiger to get yellow pieces but it was sold out when I went online to order. I’m glad it was now as I decided to try and see what I could make with the limited selection of yellow pieces I had available and it resulted in a much more compact and sleeker version than I had planned. I had to take apart my yellow car to do it but it was worth it. Thanks. I’m not a fan of the Batman Returns penguin as a character either. I watched it just a couple of months ago after not having seen it for years and he still spoils the film with his over the top freakery. I do however love the yellow duck and I think it fits with my own preferred concept of the penguin’s character as someone who is extremely eccentric rather than a freak. I think stylewise it also fits better with the cartoony feel of Lego Gotham than with the film version. Have fun Up next: The professor enjoys a break on a friend’s yacht: will he have found the perfect wig? Killer Croc goes crazy in a speed boat, a pick up truck and a swamp boat. Batman pursues in the Batboat. Still to come – the long awaited Joker’s disco truck vs the Batmobile. Newly added – Two Face bank heist. -
The Sword of Ungar Scribbs: Backstory: For several years Ungar Scribbs was the most sought after and highly paid bounty hunter in Tatooine. He was renowned for the messy and inventive ways that he found to kill his targets. He himself came to a messy end, however, when it was discovered that he was not a bounty hunter but a conman. His 'targets' were elaborate inventions of his fevered imagination, designed to cause maximum annoyance to as many wealthy and powerful people as possible [George Lucas, while researching on Tatooine heard about these characters and decided to adapt and use one of them when writing the Phantom Menace]. He became greedy and was eventually taking out several contracts on the same character. His secret was eventually discovered as the kind of people (and aliens) who hired him moved in the same circles (and liked to compare notes on how many people they had had killed last week). He recieved a jackpot of thirty-five contracts for one particular character, one named 'Yar Yar Zincz'. He was given a particular time and place to make the kill 'to make a statement'. Had he been less greedy he may have suspected a trap since the thirty-five contracts all made the same demand. He mounted his trusty custom speeder, that he rather pretensiously called 'The Sword of Ungar Scribbs', and set of for location. As he flew he began to feel a little queasy. Something was wrong. As he flew down a narrow enclosed canyon he found his body was beginning to vibrate at terrific speed. Too late he realised that his 'sword' had been tampered with so that the speeder vibrated at a very precise frequency that, when the effect was amplified by the confines of the canyon, meant that all the molecules of his body simply flew apart. Ungar Scribbs would have appreciated the most unusual and messy explosion that ensued. No. of Pieces: 84 (If I have counted correctly) Brickshelf Gallery: Right side: Left side: Front: Back: Top:

I just love the faces on the badguys in the cemetry set. Perfect for henchmen for The Scarecrow

For a while now I've been wanting Lego to do a B-movie style robot - (like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow) and just last week I was just watching Mars Attacks and though that I would just love it if Lego released a set just like the Mech suit used by the martians. I guess someone was watching Mars Attacks too because Dr Inferno's robo-suit is just the kind of thing I wanted. This has moved to the top of my lists of must-haves. Hmm ... maybe Lego are monitoring my brainwaves I'm so excited about this set I have to say more. Another thing I really wanted Lego to make was a bus. 'Why a bus?' do you ask? For giant mechs to smash up of course (something like when the mech in Mars Attacks smashs up the trailers in the trailer park). I would have prefered one in white and green but yellow will do. With the civilians in Robo attack, City Corner and the Camper Van there is a lot of mayhem fun to be had. Now lets see what other ideas I can beam into Lego's head... Is that a barbeque I smell? I really must get to bed - Goodnight

My thoughts exactly. Remember in the UK one of the major retailers of Lego, Woolworths, went under at the end of last year. They were the only store I knew of out of about 10 major toy retailers I know in my area that carried last years exo-force line. I don't know of any chain that carries all themes and all sets. It's entirely possible that Lego had lined up UK release of SPIII with Woolworths. Its more probable that stores are being more cautious and selective about which themes and sets they will stock in the current economic climate and they just don't want to take a chance on SPIII because MM didn't sell as well or becasue they already have Star Wars. Lets just wait and see before we send TLC hate mail... It has just occured to me that though this seems like a reasonable explaination it doesn't explain why TLC wouldn't be presenting at a trade fair in the UK to attract potential retailers to this theme. So maybe it is the decision of TLC after all. Send hate mail! Send hate mail! Send it now. Only kidding, if it is delayed until 2010 it might mean I can actually afford to get the other sets I want... on the other hand that might make 2010 a difficult year if they keep releasing quality sets - oh dear its getting complicated ... maybe TLC needs to make 2010 a year of poor quality sets so those of us with smaller Lego budgets can catch up...

Very Nice. I especially like the detailed roof and the revolving doors. They really make this design stand out. Are you going to make your design modular so that you can extend it?

The professor was doing well in his new job. THe dangers of scientific research were too much for him so he had chosen a safer career path - he had become a dealer in diamonds and precious stones. He was on his way now to close his biggest deal yet. He was feeling good. He was trying out his new wig, and felt quite the distinguished gentleman. Suddenly, out of nowhere, he was held up by two armed penguins. Who could the shadowy villan behind this sinister crime be? Why, it's the penguin, with his army of robotic penguins, making his escape on his giant yellow duck. All is not lost, here comes Robin in his speedboat, perhaps the Penguin should speak to his boat-dealer. Perhaps he would get away quicker if he paddled... The Penguin's dastardly robotic penguins attack... ... but are blasted to pieces by Robin's jets. Likewise the Yellow duck is blasted by Robin's cannon's. The penguin's plans have been foiled but he is at least glad he always keeps his brolly handy. Sadly for the professor Robin arrived too late to save his wig: Shots without figures: The Big Yellow Duck is of course inspired by 'Batman Returns' Enjoy

The Batwing vs Gotham SWAT Gunship (MOCs)
Righteous Squid replied to Righteous Squid's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks VBBN, The time machine truck started out life as Dino 2010 set 7296 4WD Trapper. I truely was shocked at the size of it and immediately set about reducing it to minifigure scale. After two atttempts it was down to eight wide but was still a bit big. Eventually I just stripped it right down and started from scratch, managing to make it six wide. Initially I had the wheels flush with the sides but it just looked silly so I set them out to eight wide again and it looks great with the rest of my vehicles.
