  1. Guys, sorry for the delay in replying. The first effort I accidently deleted when I was trying to preview so I wrote the reply on Word only to forget I hadn't posted it. Still, better late than never, eh? The Slopes with the Artic logo came with a bucket of old Lego I was given. There were plain ones I was going to use but my son insisted on using the ones with the logo. Since I was building it primarily for him I could only oblige. I had meant to airbrush them out for the photos but forgot, sorry! At first the mixer struck me as being a fairly useless piece. I then thought of doing a giant insect mech for Mr Freeze with the mixer as a snow spewing thorax. However I didn’t have enough pieces for six legs and it didn’t quite fit with my concept of Mr Freeze. Thanks Batbrick - It works in much the same way that it does on the cement mixer set but is connected to the wheel so it turns as the WMF rolls. Thanks computerbug - Maybe next time you should read the whole thread instead of the first two posts If you have read it all and are still confused let me know and I’ll explain further. Guys, sorry for the delay in replying. The first effort I accidently deleted when I was trying to preview It is called ‘Artic industries’ isn’t it? Anyway as I indicated before it was thrown together from leftovers as an exercise in using some pieces I wouldn’t normally use. Thanks hewkii9 – The snowplow parts are the mudguards for the trailer in coastguard set 7726: Matalandi’s review - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...834&hl=7737 Brickset - http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=7726-1
  2. I did indeed get one, (the sub I mean), and I was pleasently surprised - it is indeed better than expected, a sweet little machine, and one of the few Lego Batman sets I have that I like without altering it, even with the shooty thing. I expect I will MOD it at some point though.
  3. This is my MOD of the alternative model for Exo-force Grand Titan (my favorite Exo Mech). I changed the cissy looking feet, added weapon, enclosed the cockpit and added a back.
  4. We Batman fans are forced to be creative this year but it looks like Lego won't lose out for dropping the line. Like the Space Police theme the Indy line has come up trumps for us, (but with the advantage of having fleshies). I'll be avoiding the fighter plane set as there is nothing here I can use but the rest are all on my list. The bad guys in the cemetery battle and ToD sets will be used with modded Space Police bad guy ships to create a street gang. The Venice Chase has lots of suits for city officals/citizens etc. as well as a couple more boats for Gotham harbour. (wish the fez's were 2/3 brick height instead of 1, though I can understand why Lego did it). ToD is just a sweet set (and we shall pay dearly for it I'm sure) - Willie will be used as a waitress in the Asian resturant/Triad hang out that I'm planning with the two Golden Sentai Towers I have ordered - who knows I might even incorporate the tracks into my Batcave for a more rapid transit system... Lego Batman is not dead, just wearing a good disguise.
  5. I have never been particularly fond of the Space theme (I'm understating this so as not to offend any of the more rabid, avid fans) but I'm loving this. Lot's of style, lots of useful pieces, good colour scheme and cool aliens. The GE has a wealth of pieces that I can use to make a proper lab for Mr Freeze, as will the rest of the police ships. The bad guys ships should be easy enough to Mod to fit my Gotham, with pieces left over for the Batcave, and my son can use the aliens as extras for his sparsely populated Sail Barge. Looks like I'm going Lego space for the first time.
  6. The picture don't show us everything we would like to see but the bridge sure is a thing of beauty and a surefire all time classic. The Troll fortress, while still not what I had anticipated, is also marvelous and I should have a lot of fun 'fixing' it up as only a troll knows how. I hope, however futile it might be to do so, that the abscence of the chariot means Lego are going back to the drawing board on that one.
  7. King's Chariot - Already have two kings but since they decided to put skellies in the drawbridge set I guess I may still get this for trolls. The chariot looks dreadful but has useful pieces. Anyone know what the silver blob at the front is? looks like a cartoon crocodile head to me - Haven't seen anything like it so far. Drawbridge - best set of the castle range so far. Beautifully designed structure with lots of useful pieces, nice minifigure selection - another jester yeaah!!! (now I can copy Penguin and have two henchmen for Joker). The knight looks to me like he is pearl gold not yellow - (arms and legs a different shade to the face) - only minus - I already have enough skellies - need trolls. Mountain Fortress - my first reaction was that it wasn't what I was looking for (something with more wood and closer to the viking fortress than this perhaps)- but having though about it a bit more it certainly seems to have potential. I strongly suspect that the the camera angle and layout don't do the set justice and it will look better when we can see it from all angles. It looks like it is hinged so it can be arranged either as a straight facade or folded back so it is enclosed like castle seige. I like the main tower especially but I don't like the big fire pieces. Overall - nothing wrong with it that can't be fixed.
  8. Oh my - meesa sure is liken deese sets I was sceptical when it was said Echo base would be a trench - but this works much better than I imagined and will look really well with the first Echo Base. It would be nice to have gotten Luke, another taun-taun and a Wampa but I guess Lego is saving those for later since they will want to get their money's worth from the mould. The Endor Bunker is looking good and the only figure I have so far from this is chewie. I'm sure that the interior will yield at least some nice details to make this really special.
  9. Great work. You've really highlighted the untapped potential of this licence. So many great sets and minifigures that could have been... I look forward to seeing the finished arena. What about airbending? Maybe the pneumatic pumps on the Mars Mission Base could prove useful there. I don't have any myself but they might be worth investigating if they're powerful enough. Who knows maybe you could even add water for waterbending?
  10. I'm glad I could amuse you. However, some things aren't laughing matters. I have been trying to make a serious point about the plight of those who are folliclly challenged. These people need our help in overcoming a debilitating social stigma with, as yet, no adequate way of countering the effects of hairloss. Instead of help and understanding they more often encounter rejection and ridicule. They are forced to resort to embarrassingly inadequate and costly measures to try and disguise their affliction. A charitable trust has been established whose aim is to find more effective ways of dealing with the problem of baldness and hairloss. We need your support. Please donate to BALHD (Beautiful Alternatives to Lousy Hairpiece Designs) Thanks Penguin. I tend to agree with you about sci-fi in Batman. I don't like too much of it either. For that reason your comment has inspired me to reconsider my design and I have changed the gunship from the science-fictiony design to a more familiar helicopter design. (I originally designed it to see what I could do with the Aquaraiders angler fish pieces and didn't have a lot of pieces to hand.) I'm quite pleased with thresults and it now fits better with my vision of Gotham. Thanks. I also wasn't entirely happy with the shape of the wings on my Batwing, (this was one of my first MOCs). In the photos they didn't look as good as they did in the plastic. I've used some more recently acquired pieces to get a better wing shape without making it too big, (I originally redesigned it because it was too big for my son to play with). I have a couple more pieces in mind for a better shape but don't have enough of them yet. Happy New Year!
  11. Your Gotham is obviously the place to be. I can't believe I passed up on the oppurtunity to get the Speed Racer sets half price. Nor can I believe that it never occured to me that the castle jester was perfect for Joker's henchmen. Anyway, in a couple of days time 'Santa Claus' is going to bring me your penguin submarine. What a shame you haven't seen fit to include your entire entourage.
  12. I like what you have done with Two-face's van, the batboat and the patpod (even though I'm not a big fan of it). I'm especially pleased to see your scarecrow MOC's. He's my favorite villan and I'm getting his crop-duster for Christmas (not sure of its modding possibilities yet). I want to do a few MOC's for him myself but don't have enough brown - (I have been checking out the possibility of getting Harry Potter Shrieking Shack set to give a foundation for a Scarecrow fear factory) - probably be a while before I gather the right pieces. Your cart fits very nicely with the character. There is one potential problem though - Given the range of veichles Batman has poor scarecrow wouldn't stand a chance. I suggest you get rid of your Batmobile etc and give Batman something like this: Imagine the fun to be had... Great job greating villans too - its nice to see the individual touch that others bring to their lego gotham. Your Scarecrow MOC has also reminded me of one of my favorite Gotham characters - the ragman - If only Lego would release a set with a dark green hood and cape.
  13. Its been a quiet day in Gotham. At Gotham police HQ the SWAT team are taking a break: Suddenly they slump to the ground, sleeping darts in their backs. Their Gunship is now free for the taking... Which is exactly what the Time Ninja does... 'So long suckers!' Meanwhile the professor is at his new job. Today he is doing a test run on the time machine he and his collegues have been building. Based on his recalculations from the faulty work of some past would be time traveller he only has to reach the speed of 88.4628735 mph to be catapulted back into the past. First he has to find a deserted road. Up in the sky the Time Ninja has spotted his target. He has come from the future to destroy the time machine and prevent the professor from unravelling the space-time continuum. Fortunately for the professor Batman just happens to be taking the BAtwing for a test run and once again is on hand to save the day. The Time Ninja returns fire... ...and the Batwing takes a hit. Its only minor damage but the Batman must take the gunship out quickly. Time to deploy the cannons... Job done... ...Gotham is safe as Batman rules the skies. Unfortunatly the time machine was hit by the gunfire and has malfunctioned. The professor's wig has also mysteriously disappeared. Wherever could it be?
  14. Once again the citizens of Gotham are fleeing in terror. What could be causing such mischief and mayhem? Why, its Mr Freeze in his WMF - Weapon of Mass Frostification: The WMF spews snow onto the streets of Gotham. Dreaming of a white Christmas are you? Be careful what you wish for! All is not lost. Batman races to the rescue. The technology recovered from Firefly has proved useful: Mr Freeze fires the ice cannon... ...straight into the stream of snow... ...creating a swirling ice blizzard as he cranks up the snow generator to full blast. Looks like a frontal assault is out of the question Batman. As Batman approaches from the rear Mr Freeze aims his freeze ray to ice the Bat. As the freeze ray meets jets of flame a cloud of steam is created. Leaving Batman free to fry the cooling system on the WMF. Looks like Mr Freeze's plans have been put on ice. Sorry for the delay in getting the WMF up. Friends of my son somehow managed to get into my study while I was out and 'disassembled' it; then my wife took the camera to the same friends birthday party on the afternoon I had scheduled to take the pics. The WMF is built mainly from the cement mixer and the coast guard truck with trailer and boat. Obviously the pics can't show it but the snow generator cylinder is rigged to rotate as the WMF drives along. Up next - The Batwing v Gotham City SWAT gunship. (and the professor has a new car and a new wig)
  15. Sadly not everyone who hears about this will know its source. A couple of weeks ago someone who would never dream of reading the Sun told me about 'Osama bin Lego'. She though it was actually a toy made by Lego themselves. I can image that some people who hear this without knowing the facts might end up boycotting Lego products.
  16. Why does Lego city need so many policemen when there aren't really enough citizens for them to police? Lego take note: The only reason I won't buy this set is because I won't waste my money on another policeman.
  17. Scarecrow is not only my favorite Batman villan, but also my favorite Lego Batman minifigure. He has the best face print and I just love the scary glow in the dark head. The one disappointment is the hat. Could have been a new mould, or made in dark brown at least.
  18. I haven't posted Robin's cycle before. It was created specially for the story because I'm saving my other Bat vehciles for other confrontations. I had wanted to create a cycle for Robin the same in design as Batman's but with a different colour scheme (one matching the official Lego Robin colour scheme) but I didn't have the right parts. I decided I would see what I could make with the green, yellow and red parts I had. I quite liked the result and have tried to alter the Batbike as closely as I can to Robin's cycle. Here is the result: I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I had thought about that. I guess the freeze ray freezes the water beside the boat and is so extremely cold that the freezing spreads and the ice closes up behind the boat. I guess it would really make more sense to have the freeze ray at the back, but it looks better at the front. I don't know it its some sort of twisted morbid curiosity, or dying brain cells, but I feel I really need to see Batman and Robin again. I've forgotten what it was like exactly. "Surely," I sometimes think, "it couldn't have been that bad" ... The DNA helix came with Spiderman set 4851: The origins. Its a set that is a great parts pack with some nice minifgures and accesories and which provided quite a few pieces for Mr Freezes lab. Victor's wife is in fact Mary Jane Parker. (cue ominous rumbling as the Marvel and DC universes collide causing all kinds of mayhem and catastophe, possibly melting the minds of some very particular comics fans).
  19. Thanks for the nice clear pictures, Guss. Its certainly looking good so far.
  20. Just wondering, is anyone going to show pictures? I got the castle one for my son, so I'm interested to see what is in this one.
  21. I have to say the arch is the weakest of the sets. It only gets better from here. I got this calander for my six year old son. He has been so excited about it, scrutinising every detail of the box including the inventory where he was thrilled to discover he was getting an apple and a carrot. On the 1st he complained that there weren't enough minifigures in the set. I thought, 'Oh dear! what is he going to say when he gets the arch tomorrow?' On the second when he opened it and built it he said, 'Wow, that's so cool!" Just goes to show...
  22. Apologies if you read this earlier – I accidentally hit the wrong keys or something and posted before I had finished: Well there are bound to be some similarities with Lego artic due to the icy nature of the whole thing, but I think can appreciate what you mean. This MOC was made from leftover blue and white pieces I had no other use for and is designed for my six year old to play with. It is therefore more cartoony and incomplete than I would have preferred. If I had access to whatever pieces I wanted I would have Freezes lab in a cold storage room under an abattoir. With the new cows Lego is releasing next year that is certainly a more appealing option. Noone said revenge has to be rational. Human beings have a tendency to try and cast blame and responsibility wherever they can. Observe the hatred directed against the professor as the story continues and ultimately against Gotham, and indeed the whole Cosmos. Freeze may have turned his wife into an icy beast but he didn't cause the accident that put her in a critical condition in the firstplace. Hope you're not disappointed. Thanks for the defense Batbrick. When I read the comics back in the late eighties/early nineties I don't remember reading any stories about Mr Freeze, so I am undoubtedly influenced by the unfortunate Batman Forever film and what I have picked up when my son has been watching the cartoons. So for me the cartoony feel fits with my exposure to different representations of Mr Freeze, and also the colour scheme of the Lego minifigure itself. Indeed, its all a bit of silliness and fun to make the presentation of my MOCs more enjoyable. I'm not aiming to create high literature, change the DC universe or create a Batman encyclopedia. Apologies to those my sense of humour bypasses. Thanks. Although its not what I would have created myself given the resources I posted it because I did think that this MOC had some charm and some nice ideas for developing a Mr Freeze lab. Hopefully in the future as I collect more of the right kind of bricks I can make it more polished and complete.I have edited the pictures and in the following pictures have tried to make use of the blending tool not only to cover up messy background, but also to help the story a bit more (also in my 'Welcome to Gotham thread where I used it to some create smoke effects). Sadly I don't have time to do every picture or edit as thoroughly as I would like. Thanks. I would love to do the same for other villains. I have a small swamp shack for Killer Croc but want to make a bigger base for him. I'm collecting pieces to make a fear factory for my favorite villan Scarecrow. I have the big red disc from the Scorpion Palace set that would make a great red nose for Jokers clown house but the rest is a long way off. I want to do a penguin base inspired by the Batman Returns film complete with yellow duck. I want to do a whole street of Gotham too if I ever get the chance. At the moment though I'm concentrating on vehicles. Anyway, on to the next installment: The Professor was driving home from work in his new car... ... and in his new wig. The professor had given up on developing new fireproof materials and had taken up a position heading up research into better antifreeze that could be used in building structure s and roads. He had also treated his wig with flame retardant chemicals. Suddenly out of nowhere he was zapped with a freezing cold icy wave. Unknown to the professor there has been an industrial accident on the antifreeze project before he had been brought on board. The same industrial accident that had left Mrs Freeze in critical condition. Fortunately for the Professor the Dynamic Duo had been patrolling nearby: As the dynamic duo sped to help the professor they recieved a call informing them that a boat on Gotham River was freezing the river, the boats in it and the buildings along the banks: Robin sped of towards the river leaving Batman to pursue Mr Freeze: Launching himself off the docks Robin deployed jetski mode on his bike allowing him to get close to Freeze’s goons and take them out: Meanwhile Batman was almost gaining on Mr Freeze: Freeze fired his freeze ray at the road and Batman skidded on the ice allowing Mr Freeze to give him the slip: Sadly for the professor the fire retardant chemicals in his wig had reacted with the freeze ray. This would take some serious surgery to remove: The three wheeler is a bit of a monster (which may upset some), but that’s kind of the point (the bike being a monster that is, not the upsetting people) and I think it gives it character that fits with Mr Freeze (or my concept of Mr Freeze at least). Sometime I might to make a smaller version just for the challenge. The boat is largely constructed from a bucket of random old Lego I obtained which included the parts for the boat hull. Since they were blue I just had to make a boat for Freeze. It’s not quite as originally designed since my son complained that he couldn’t fit men in the cabin so I had to redesign to make the top hinged. I particularly like the freeze ray. Coming soon – The Snow-maker, Mr Freeze’s weapon of mass frostification.
  23. Here are some more of my Batman MOCs, this time Mr Freeze, beginning with his base. Welcome to Artic Industries, a research company specializing in advanced cyrogenics and frozen peas (to pay the bills) Just don't mention what you see to any animal rights activists. Unfortunatly things are not going well. Aside from having had ther assets frozen the wife of head researcher victor Freeze is in critical condition following an accident involving liquid nitrogen, antifreeze and some garden peas. Victor is working against the clock to save her However, DNA sequencing is presenting big problems And the results are't always pretty: With time running out, victor has no choice but to attempt one final experiment. He must use a human subject, himself. He reasons that it doesn't work they'll both be dead. He can't live without her: But halfway through the experiment there is a power surge: The results are tragic. Neither Freeze nor his wife have died but both have tragically been altered. Perhaps he should have been more careful to clean the remains of his other experimental subjects out of the machine. Mr Freeze must get his revenge. But first a cup of ice tea Up next: Mr Freeze's three wheeled bike:
  24. Very Nice. Love all the hatches and the heavy look. By coincidence I was logging on to start uploading my freeze stuff and was womdering whether I should start a new topic. I guess I'll follow your example.
  25. The idea of this set is nice and the driver Babloo is very cool. However the use of cloth as a harness for the buggy is a complete disaster. It might look nice when carefully arranged but it really doesn't work as a toy to be played with. That and the fact the elephant isn't that well done brings it down from excellent to average.
