  1. Why do so many people think a LOTR set cannot make it as an Ideas project? I mean, they are releasing a Big Bang Theory set for crying out loud. Anything is possible, My Friends!
  2. Thanks for those links. I have supported most of them, but I will look through and support the others I missed. They all look great!
  3. ...So many comments about the Lego Ideas Minas Tirith set that has been gaining steam. It's not a matter of if it gets 10,000 votes to be considered. It's a matter of when. When I last checked, it's support was at 8,632 votes. It's already getting Lego's attention by staying on the front page of the site. At it's current pace, it very well could hit 10,000 votes by the end of the month. It's pretty much guaranteed at this point that this project will get to review. Regardless of how you feel about the project, that alone should be encouraging to all Lord of The Rings fans. I've shown the project to non-Lego collectors, but who are big Lord of the Rings fans, and they are very interested in purchasing it, if it does become a set. The idea here is to convince Lego that there is enough support and interest in this theme to make it worth the effort for Lego. I believe there is. I always thought that this set would be perfect for a Lego UCS set, and that would not take up much shelf space. One argument has always been that it was not worth it to Lego to keep the Lord of the Rings license to develop 1 set (if in fact they are discontinuing the production of all other LOTR sets). But lets consider some of the other Lego Ideas projects that have passed review and become official sets (Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Minecraft, etc) Minnecraft was so successful that a new Lego theme was created, and from what i've seen the Back to the Future and Ghostbusters sets have sold well. These sets all required a license in order to sell them and they are just one set in the theme....the exception of course being Minecraft. In the end, if you want Lord of the Rings to continue, support the project, and support other Lord of the Rings projects. Even if it does not pass review, it is still getting Lego's attention, and if they see other Lego Lord of the Rings projects get that kind of support, that too will send a strong message to Lego.
  4. I'm quite sure it's a better value then the Ewok Village. In the US, the Sandcrawler will retail for $50 more, but will have around 1,300 more pieces. I know some pieces are larger and smaller then others, but it's definitely a much bigger set then the Ewok Village. The only thing selling th Ewok Village IMO is the minifigs.

    INFERNO

Dude, did you just say "Everything is Awesome"?! LOL
  6. vote for both then,. :) ...they will both eventually get made more then likely.
  7. Everyone go support it now! Time is almost up!
  8. Yeh, you're right. I'm sure there will alway be a space them. . And what you said about the colors...very good point. Another thing is it is not marketed or hyped neary as much as Chima and Nijago. They had a chance to make it alot better. It has alot of potential. When I first saw it, I thought, "Lego Starship Troopers"... lol.... and thought they were drawing inspiration from that, but don't think so.
  9. Well, that's too bad if that is the case. I really like the Galaxy Squad theme. I know many people will disagre with me, but I find it more interesting then some of the other space themes. The vehicles/spacecrafts look more detailed and interesting then past space themes, IMO. Even the mini-figs look more detailed. no offense to any Chima or Ninjago fans, but I like this theme better. It has a lot of possibilities if they continued to develop it. But apparenly that isnt going to happen. :(
  10. Why does everyone think this theme is over?
  11. where are you located? it's still not working for me! ok it's up now!!
  12. i know, i had 20 lots in my cart when it went down. I hope it saved my activity!
  13. no offense, but sounds like a load of BS to me. I've tried on my home network which runs off a NC server, and my work network which runs off a server in Pittsburgh, PA. I still get a message saying the site is down.
  14. Does anyone know if Bricklink is still down for the migration??? I've been trying to log in since early this morning when it kicked me out.
  15. Has US pricing been confirmed? I'm mostly interested in the train set.
  16. Hey Kevin, First of all, congratulations on what appears to be an awesome trip in the making! Unfortunately, CA sales tax is not pretty. Los Angeles is 9%, I believe. Anaheim and San Diego is 8%. I actually lived in Anaheim for about 15 years. Don't let the taxes deter you as California also has quite a selection, due to the "touristy" nature of the state. You should be able to find a deal somewhere and probably a better selection then in a lot of areas. I'm not sure of any Lego events, but look online and see what comes up. Good luck and have a good trip!
  17. i gotcha! They should just give us 2 of everything!
  18. Well, i did say "may". It really just depends on his maturity level. Right now, he's not doing much building. He just destroys things. He does like playing with mini-figs, but just isn't very good at the building part. He enjoys tearing it all down more then anything else. So, when I say protect my investment, I really just mean, I want to keep them all together and prefer not to have 5 year old, grimy fingers all over them. Hopefully, one day he will grow up a little. I would like to at least show them to him one day. For right now, he does have his own Lego toys.
  19. Here's my take on it: I respect the argument that Lego bricks were "made to be played with" and so you should just let your kids play with them. That being said, I have quite a bit of money invested in them. My philosophy is that once something reaches beyond a certain price point (only you can decide what that is), it is no longer a toy. I've found that many of us are collector's or enthusiasts, not children. Another example that's quite comparable: I remember when the Lord of the Rings films came out and the Toybiz toys were very popular. If you have seen these action figures, you would agree that the level of detail was much better than most action figures being released today. Today, that collection is worth several thousand dollars. To me, they are not toys, they are an investment. I feel the same way about some of the Lego sets I have acquired. Also, lets keep in mind that many of the higher priced sets really were not intended for small children anyway. When it's labeled 16+, I think it's safe to say that it was never intended for a child. These are grown-up toys! So, here's my compromise, I have bought a few sets for my 5 year old son, but the rest is off limits. I have a spare bedroom upstairs that has been designated as the Lego room and he does not go in there. One day, when he is old enough, I'll think about letting him go in there, but for now, I'm protecting my investment.
  20. some of these posts remind me that every set I've done always has extra pieces left over when completed. Why is that?
  21. WOW! Lucky you. I wish I still had my old sets!
  22. Thanks for the link, Brick Dr....That looks like a good place to start! thank you Brickington! I actually have that set, but I need more pieces for the kind of scale I'm wanting to do this on, so looking for an economical way to achieve that.
  23. i agree. Also, the more standardized a piece is should help keep the price down as production would be higher.
  24. Hi Everyone! I am new here and trying to get started. I have a vision for building a medieval type village. The problem I've come across with Lego bricks is that I'm searching for certain bricks in specific colors and that seems hard to do unless you buy the individual bricks, which could get expensive. Any ideas? Are there any sets that come with alot of greys, greens, and browns? This is what I would need and I would need quite a lot of them. I'm planning to do something on a large scale, and the first step is to make sure I have enough bricks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
