Figs are absolutely gorgeous. I need to get a Luna, just for that head. Endless Steampunk possibilities! :3 Bellatrix's hair was nailed dead-on, and all the figs are looking absolutely terrific. Now I want the burrow pretty bad, for the Dark Red and the gorgeous figs.

I was about to say that this was an over-exaggeration. Then I remembered the beast playsets and the even better titans. Now I agree.

All the helmets got really weird. Especially Surge's. Bulk's got this random horn smack dab in front of his face too. Von Nebula still looks silly. Box background is the best part. ._. Spike parts will have some use though, might have to bricklink them. Rotor is... Keet? I got less interested. ;-; And for the love that is common sense, I hope that face gets holes or something. If it's Orange, I'll be getting for sure though. Furno bike still looks okay. It looks like they took a Technic bike, slapped on Bionicle parts and an Av-toran. $30 is not appealing, so I'll wait for a parts list and instructions. Box art is amazing. Whoever did it needs to get promoted. And do every box art. Forever. Corroder still looks silly with all those weapons. Xplode is so short, like a chibi. Thunder looks better, but what's with his mass of black legs? Meltdown is suffering the same with a black torso and black upper legs. Just a blob of black and then yellow extensions. :s So looks like I'll be getting Rotor, Meltdown and one of the smaller sets. I'd get Stringer, but his arm is really annoying me.

Will be getting the small set for sure. I don't have a fleshie Harry or a Dobby, and the Lucius looks like he has a nice suit. Also the trans orange parts [name of them escapes me] and a broom. :D The Quidditch set is definitely a new turn for Lego, jacking up the figs, and lowering the parts. I'll still get it. New Draco haiiiir. Burrow has a nice assortment of figs, and some decent parts, especially all the Dark Red. It has the crazy design, and playability. Also a new owl mold! With print on the face! The hut looks fine to me. Printed parts [i assume, and hope, seeing it's licensed], Sand Green, etc. etc. I can't believe it's 400+ parts though... how? It looks exactly the same as the old one [4754]. ._. Also Ron haiiiiir Train looks gorgeous. I like the design, and there's an invisiblity cloak [possibly stolen from Beleville?] and Luna! I wish she was in a cheaper set though. =/ Castle is spiffy. Exclusive minifigs galore, decorated rooms, like the Great Hall and the Divination Room. Neato.

4841 Hogwarts Express Train Discussion
The Alchemyst replied to Chromeknight's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Remember that this set is still targeted to the kids, and with the car you add playability and more connection to the actual story. -
Perfect. Mr. T could use more of a scowl, but I'm not sure if you can find a face like that. Like others said, the hair is really simple but works well. I really like the torsos as well, I'm surprised Mola Ram's fits.

- Poof - Reviving this topic to let you guys know they have Black Fedoras at the Lego Shop in Downtown. Turns out, according to someone working there, I could take any 15 pieces. So I took 6 Fedoras, a couple hair pieces and heads. Also the Castle and Pirates coin banks are going for $4.98! And both Indy Magnet Sets are going for $3.98. And Vintage Minifig Collection 1 for $4.98! 4x4 Brick Magnet Sets are going cheap as well. [-TA-]

Latest updates on LEGO set sales
The Alchemyst replied to gylman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Any idea on what sets they were and the final prices? -
Realized the name, but totally didn't make the sound connection. Look at his torso. I thought those were fans. They could be speakers. And his weapon has the sound wave thing going on at the top. Call me slow, but whoa, I find those hidden parts awesome. I just thought he had some sonic weapon, didn't make the sound-element connection. :P

Also, <3 Sand Blue. Made with fusion for all you Bionicle haters, used some KKII parts since I had that Sand blue set. Sand blue sockets from 2 copies of a Bionicle set. Lego needs to make more Sand Blue pieces. I love this color to bits.\ Flickr Gallery. Yes, some pics suck. Started out as some sort of tinkering robot WIP Pic That's really all I got. Story is in the flickr set. [-TA-]

Her books were terrible for Bionicle though. I remember so many errors.

I hate how they're angled. But then again, that way they have some special uses. I wish they made both.

Little vignette: Pulp Fiction!
The Alchemyst replied to Captain'Spaulding's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Very well done. I think it would go in here. It's spot on, and I really like how you got the gun to cover up the elastic band. Colors of the torso are inverted, but then again, I don't think there's a more fitting torso. Then again, I'm don't know many torsos. :P -
Looks like the stuff they had at the UK toyfair. They had pretty much the same thing for a Harry Potter Games set.

Pillow fights. Playful, fun and part of cultures throughout the world. Except Lego Culture. Why? For this reason right here. This is why you don't see Minifigs having pillow fights It's as simple as that. [-TA-]

Find someone who would like to trade a Protocol droid for Mola Ram [Nearly same value on Bricklink] or something else?
-
I would have never expected prizes like this. This is just amazing. Thanks so much Copmike!!

I'll grab one of the small sets for the nifty leg armor, and looks like none of the larger sets. At least not until they go on sale. ._. Sure they have nice recolors, but they look pretty bad, although that might just be the pisspoor posing. Corroder's weaps are oversized, 4 triconnectors in a canister sets are <3 though. And if those blades prove to be useful, those too. But then again, I'd just bricklink them. ._. Xplode has some as well, but also has gaps in his armor? Mata Red recolors are nice, 2nd best of the 4 Meltdown canister pics: Yellow Metru leeegs, Yellow Ankle guaaards Thunder. Eh. That's all there is. Eh. Drop ship looks well designed. If I get it, I won't use the stickers though. Furno bike: Orange Onua Shieeeeld. Also Oragne Bohrok faceplate. Also some orange piece near the seat. Von Nebula: Exclusive mask and funky Xplode armor. Other than that, hes's full of pure black and he sucks. His weapon has some nice Tridax recolors Rotor: Eh, I need some Orange Mata Feet, and he has Orange Inika armor and a pretty sweet mask, as long as there are holes in it in the final product. :P And I still think those weird pieces on Corroder, Thunder and a couple of bigger sets are some sort of launchers.

Lego and Bionicle are treated differently. I.e. size of pieces and number of new molds. I mean, so new molds and pieces with more plastic equate to more cost, and if the cost was the same across system and Bionicle, that means less pieces. Also, I mean, if you're going to talk about the sets categorized as impulse in system, they cost $3.50, and if price per parts really matters in these cases to you, it's pretty bad. Also, there are draws in the same regard, mostly the fig, and in Bionicle, like Omi said, it's the recolors/new parts. And what makes them "low quality", other than personal taste?
-
Eh, I liked how no one liked him. That way I picked him up for $2. Oh and simple response to those pics: Voyatoran, Mahritoran, New mold count: 0 Av-toran: Ranged from 7-8 I believe, including new hand/feet molds.
-
Hee. Someone remind me to scan my drawings of new Masks and mask powers I made when I was like... 8. I know I have it somewhere. Favorite Mask? Miru by far.
-
Didn't you see BFA's post? It's not the piece per price ratio, more than the cost per price. It costs more to make new molds. There's also costs in making bigger pieces, and not so geometric detailed one as well. If you want more pieces, it'd turn to stuff like Mahritoran. Less new molds, and more smaller pieces. Which kind of defeats the purpose of selling the sets to the target audience.
-
Technically it's "over", but what you say is right. And mold costs; I remember reading there was something about the size of the mold that made baseplates difficult. And that bike pic looks great. I want to see more concept art rather than the set pics. :P And to all Vexorian has been saying: No part is useless, you're just not finding a way to use it. I mean really, I've seen some nifty uses for the Av-toran torso and limbs. How pose-ibility without sacrificing simplicity? Limbs in strange angles? Try running or putting an action pose without them. They're marketed for the younger side of the age-range, for roleplaying and such. Recently they even have some more incentives to buy for MOCers. So am I not getting your point, or is it that Lego should ditch the easy stuff for the, you know, little kids and make more complicated stuff with less new molds? I'm frankly happy with the new molds and stuff. I get to be choosy and save money.

Latest updates on LEGO set sales
The Alchemyst replied to gylman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
3.98? !! THey had them at $7.98 before, but at that price, that's a steal, even for the crappy quality. I might have to pick up two, if they're still in stock. -
Truth. Although there are urges when you have 5 of a set and you need to finish it, but that may be just me. @_@ Blaze's Blades remind me awfully of Skrall blades. And the oversized-ness and how he holds them reminds me of Gresh Star. Oh and maybe possible that Natalie's weapons are two pieces? Green blade has an axle to silver hilt? If so, that'd be wonderful.
