What about Mantax? I just thought of him. Cool character, cool set... he wasn't a nobody, either, unlike Vezok and Gresh.
-
Yeah, that's right. As much as I would like a Bohrok Star, I don't think it would work at all with the Avtoran torso...
-
It happened a lot with the Phantoka and mini-me Avtoran masks. === I now have four of the six Stars... a few thoughts on them for those considering purchasing them... Piraka: Nice little set. The face is similar enough to Vezok's to be a remake, but unique enough to be that of Nektann. In terms of MOCing parts, this guy isn't so great. The feet and body you probably have a bazillion of already. The limbs are in a new color, but I don't see those on MOCs very much. The Golden Armor piece is cool, I can see it being useful. The head also has a lot of nice connections and some personality. If you're a collector/displayer, Piraka looks very cool indeed. If you want a Stars for parts only, pass him up. Takanuva: Looks pretty cool, I guess. Quite bland on the whole. Mask looks very out of place being silver. I get why they didn't use gold, I'm okay with that, but they had to recolor the mask anyway, why not make it white? Regardless, a decent set for pieces of for just setting on the shelf. The new feet are fantastic and he comes with a couple of those new armor pieces, one white, one gold. White Nuva shoulders only came in a hockey set before this, methinks, so the pieces were pretty rare before now. The Avtoran head looks awful, but I'll get over it, I guess. The mask just isn't long enough... Tahu: Bland. Poorly organized colors. Pass him up unless you want nostalgia (but then why not just buy the original Tahu for the same price off Bricklink, or something?) or if you like to MOC. Lots of nice parts in this set. Two red armor pieces, an orange armor piece, recolored firesword, feet, and two Hau. I find Tahu looks much better if you take off his should armor pieces (they just weren't made to be shoulder armor, and it shows) and make his chest plate red. Makes the colors look much more... I dunno, cohesive. The layers are weird on this set. As is the green head. Orange would be better, methinks, but I haven't tried it out yet. Some black would really help this set as well, as it's all bright colors and it's kind of eye searing. The superbent arms don't work on this guy, IMO. They look fine on Rahkshi and Gresh 'cause the weapons they're holding. But it doesn't look good on Tahu. We know Lego knows this, since they bent his arms on the packaging and all the promo pics. >_> Speaking of pre-bent limbs, I thought we beat those for canister sets back in '03? Now we have both the Stars and the main line of Hero Factory using pre-bent Avtoran limbs. Way to take a step back in the evolutionary process, Lego. Gresh: Gresh is my favorite Star. No long head, perfect colors, a healthy amount of recolors and the new armor mold looks nice to boot (I think it would match Vastus rather well). There isn't much I can say about Gresh, except, buy him. Even if you already have the big one, I think minigresh actually looks better. Though I don't have biggresh in hand to compare. === What would you guys ideal Stars line-up be? Mine would be... Tahu Mata (I just wish they did him better...) Rahkshi (yellow) Zaktan (since they never revealed Nektann's element before the set came out, they could just call the Zaktan Star Nektann. Zaktan was just so much cooler, not to mention more important, than Vezok.) Hahli Mahri (we need a female in this group. And Hahli is awesome.) Takanuva (with a white mask. Takanuva is probably the most important individual in the Bionicle saga, except perhaps Mata Nui. Perhaps.) Dunno about slot six. It'd be the black set. Maybe Skrall. Maybe Oohnorak (sp?). I like the Gresh set a lot, but it seems strange to reintroduce him so soon. Especially since Skrall is also included. I wouldn't include Skrall at all in my dream Stars lineup but for the fact that 2010 will be on Bara Magna, and it makes sense to have the Skrall come back as villains.

Krahka, definitely. She had a lot of development and was believable in the way she went about it, as well. It didn't seem rushed or forced as you gradually saw her change from a monster to hero over the course of the story... I wish she was featured more, but at the same time I don't, because she's perfect the way she is and she might be mangled if they used her more. =P "You six are Toa, dealing with the Rahi inside. Maybe she's a Rahi who discovered a little Toa inside." - Pouks

Oh, that's what you meant. Sorry, I misinterpreted. There is a simple solution: Make a petition and force Lego to make a pink Bionicle! Jk, jk. Though that would be totally awesome. But still jk about the petition thing.
-
It looks silly on Hoothoot too. XP Well, maybe there isn't room for two with that kind of foot, but maybe you could try something different?
-
Hey now, I'm an "MOCist" and I would absolutely LOVE pink to be the color of Psionics. I've desired pink in Bionicle for years... I don't think the target audience would like it, but the sets are ending anyway, so eh. Purple would be fantastic, too, since Earth doesn't seem to use it anymore.
-
Very cute! Lots of clever parts usage here. My only complaint is that it appears to have only one foot. =P

I feel silly about correcting a Lego employee that helped design this set, but the Piraka were originally released in 2006, not 2005. Also, those grey feet were first released in Kirop, the black impulse from 2008. Great pictures as always, Front. This has made me certain: Nektann will be the first Star I pick up. He looks great. Even though he's a tribute to Vezok, he still looks unique. Edit: According to Bricklink, both the arms and the legs are unique to this set in dark blue...

Did anyone like the old/early Bionicles?
Bundalings replied to knuclear200x's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I loved the designs of the early masks (I like the current ones too, but in a different way, and less so), and while the sets themselves had nice ideas and were unique, they weren't as fun to play with as the current ones, and a lot of them didn't look as good either, despite the amazing Kanohi of 2001. -

Because Smeag likes to crush hopes and dreams. I agree with him in one way, though. The likelihood of this set ever existing is extreme low. Like, 0.000001% chance at best. Not saying I don't want this set, I really do, but inspiring false hopes is no good. I know Lego loves us, but I don't know if they'd make a giant set with a very small market just for us. =P -
Now that we have some good pics, I think Nektann will be my first Stars purchase. Seems fitting, I usually seem to get the blue set first. He just has a lot of personality, I guess. I would love Tahu and Taka but for their awful heads, but I'll probably get them both anyway. The Rahkshi's head/back piece is unappealing. I've never favored the Skrall design. I'd rather just spend a few extra dollars and get the big Gresh. So that just leaves "Piraka"... Not to say I won't get the others later, they just don't stand out to me as must-haves right now.
-
There are a lucky few that have the Avohkii in new gold... Bah. I want to like Tahu but I cannot get over that head. It's green and makes him hunched.
-
ewsick. I knew in my heart that the Stars used Avtoran heads, but... I was hoping against hope that I would never see those pieces again. As to Bionicle ending, woot. I'm happy, actually. Bionicle has just gotten too big. It would work if the story was not dependent on toys, but as it is, there are too many locations and characters to write about and not enough space to do it in. Greg tries to fix it with the serials, but it ends up being super rushed. It's time to put the line down, IMO. Not to say I won't miss it. As to a new line coming, I hope it's good. My hopes are for unique sets, with refreshing color schemes. And interesting locations. And stuff. Basically, I want Throwbots to come back and bring a plot. Yeah, not gonna happen. But I can dream... ~Bunda

LaughinMan has him, but he only has this attachment up since Brickshelf is spazzing. I don't even know if non-premier members can see attachments on BZP.
-
I did indeed. It's a pity we won't get a name for the yellow Rahkshi, but I guess it's better than them giving it a scrap name that doesn't fit.
-
They're Toaraga's. I hope he'll post some pics of completed Nektann and Rahkshi soon... I wonder if we'll get a name for the heat vision Rahkshi?
-
Oh good. Nektann doesn't have a Vezok harpoon. ~Bunda

"SCREEEEECH RAWR RAWR SCREEEEEEEECH" Are any other serials confirmed, other than the blog? ~Bunda

Prototype is not really the right word... test is more accurate. They were testing how colors would work when fused in the same piece. Very solid creation, especially given how limited your current part selection is. ~Bunda

Looks great. The hands confuse me, though. They look like Bionicle pieces while the rest of it looks like... Mata Nui. ~Bunda

First when it seemed like Bionicle was ending I was like wheeeeeeeeeeee. Don't get me wrong, I love Bionicle. That's why I want it to end... it's just a convoluted mess. Bara Magna was promising, then it just made things even more muddled. Now it sounds like it isn't ending, and I'm like waaaaht sadface. Oh well, I guess we'll see what goes down next year. Hopefully an actual reboot, instead of what happened to Bara Magna. ~Bunda
-
That would be great. But only if it was System. I don't want another Titan Mata Nui. o_o ~Bunda

Standing completely straight and rigid? Nice ideas in the comic, but very rushed. ~Bunda
