While I agree with you to an extent and hate seeing people who hoard as many sets as they can for pure resell intentions we have no idea why this person was buying 4 sets. I have two kids who both want the same sets a lot of times should I not be able to purchase two 41999 sets so that each of my kids can have one? What if I wanted to use the blue parts for mocs buying multiple sets is really the only way to go about it. This guy could have been buying 2 for himself and 2 for his friend or maybe he had 3 friends that had to work. I agree it sucks when people go out and clear shelves to profit from it and others can't get a set to enjoy and honestly this is probably what this customer was doing if I had to guess but there are some people who buy multiple sets for good reasons. While I would have understood if I could only buy one I also like to have the option to get one for each of my kids or one for me and one for my kids to share.

I don't think you can go by the order numbers. My order number is Y422403XXX and I placed my order at 11:55 EST so that would not make sense given that both of you seem to have ordered before me.

My order which I placed at 11:55pm Eastern time last night has just went from in process to shipped if that helps anyone who was ordering in that time frame.

I would go with a combination of the Sopwith Camel (excellent set and build) and either Arkham or Palace Cinema. I would then pick up the Jango Fett droid set and or the BTTF set as well which should put you right around your $300 mark. As for Arkham or the Cinema it really comes down to minifigs as both are great sets and fun builds but the figs put AA over the top a bit. I am more of a modular builder and wish AA was more of a full building but it is still an excellent set especially if you are a fan of superheros at all. I am a SW fan and get my fair share of SW sets but in my opinion if you are trying to get the most bang for your buck I would choose any of the exclusive sets you listed over the over priced Barge or imo lackluster duel on geonesis set. Town Hall and VW Van are both great sets and the only two on your list that I don't have yet but plan to get. You could easily sub those two in and I don't think it would be a bad decision but as for me I have continually put those two sets off for one reason or another and managed to buy all the others and not had any second thoughts.

I have both and as much as I really like the Palace Cinema I would choose the Haunted House over it every time. Both sets have really good builds and look great in their own right but for my money the Haunted House is just the better of the two.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Futureâ„¢ Time Machine
shaggysanchez replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I agree to an extent I mean at least we have a reason for the why the hood looks so bad. The other side of the argument though is why did this version (BTTF2) and the other version (BTTF1) have to suffer such an ugly hood so that you could add parts to the Delorian from BTTF3? I have to think that they could have had a non stepped hood in those versions and still made a way to add parts to make the BTTF3 version of the car with the equipment on the hood. Obviously I don't know how it is all constructed and will look into once I get the set but it seems they could have put a couple studded pieces in the center and an extra piece on the front outside of the hood to attach tiles across the hood and make it all even. I will be getting the set as I have always planned to do but as I had said earlier I just expected more from the set once the Lego designers got their hands on it. -

What a letdown of a set that was on my must buy list. I will most likely still pick one up just because I love BTTF but I will now have to see the price and get a look at it in person before buying. I had planned to buy one regardless of price and possibly three so that I could moc the other two to match whichever movie they didn't base the set on. I am think one is my max at this point. I was never crazy about the original model but I saw plenty of potential in it. I never dreamed that Lego would make it look worse. I like that they added in some details but I really thought they would add a windshield just polish it up a bit. I can't even understand what they were thinking with that hood no part of the delorian has a stepped hood no idea how that was thought to be the best option. I can live without figs of Marty and Doc but it would be a real shame to not include them since they were a part of the set that was voted on and passed their review process. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
shaggysanchez replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I also don't see the need for a Wayne Manor. I am not saying I would not take one but unless they made a new batcave that could be attached to it then I don't see how it could be a great super heroes set. I feel like it would just be a nicer version of the Haunted House set with some details that lend themselves to Bruce Wayne/ Batman. Now if they wanted to do something similar to Jabba's Palace/ Rancor Pit sets but on a larger scale I would be all for that. I think this is the only way that a Wayne Manor works is having one set be the house and a second set be a new batcave that could be attached below it. The issue with that though is Wayne Manor would still just be a big mansion with not much going on with it and to do both sets right I would think you would need to be in the $300 - $400 price range for the two combined. The other issue with a Wayne Manor is what figs would you include? If it is a large scale set like people want than it would need a lot of figs but I can't see any reason to put villians in a Wayne Manor set. Don't get me wrong I am all for more large scale superhero sets both DC and Marvel. I love the Arkham set it was a great build that looks great and has enough play features for my kids. I wish they could have bumped it up to $200 and added some more to it but I am ok with it as is and I think it might have been more of a test to see just how much people would spend on the superhero sets. I just don't know that Wayne Manor will be the set that gets people to drop that type of money on a set. -
If you are close to a Lego store and become friendly with the staff they will sometimes give you a heads up on things as well. The manager at my local store told me back in April that once his stock of Fire Brigades were gone he would not be getting anymore in stock. I don't think they can tell you exactly when something will go away for good as I am not sure they even know 100% for certain either but these little things do help. He is also good about pointing out sets I might want to get before others if I am interested in them.

Leoparder - I can't speak for 8109 as I do not have that set but I do have 42000 and I love it. It was a good build and a very large nice looking model when complete.

I honestly dont get all the to expensive talk. It is a star wars set they are always a bit more than a similar sized set. I just spent $200 on a 1500 pcs x-wing with one fig so giving $50 more for close to 500 more pcs and 16 extra minifigs seems like a bargain to me.

If you plan to buy both eventually I would go with Pet Shop first just because it is the oldest. I love both sets and they both have aspects that make them more appealing than the other. The Pet Shop is obviously smaller of the two but I feel it has a much more interesting build than town hall and that is not to take away from the build of town hall just that you get a bit more variety with Pet Shop. There really isn't a bad choice when it comes to which modular to buy to be honest so I think it really comes down to which one you find more interesting as they are all excellent in their own ways and great builds.

Review: The Lone Ranger 79108 - Stagecoach Escape
shaggysanchez replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great review. I finally got around to picking this set up the other day and it was every bit as impressive as I had thought it would be. The 29.99 price in the US is great considering the size of the set and the amount of amazing figs included. I did get lucky and had an extra brown cowboy hat and an extra red bandana in my first bag which was a nice bonus.- 39 replies

I picked up the 12.99 (70400) and 19.99 (70401) sets tonight at my local lego store was surprised to see them on the shelves already. I had mixed feelings about the new line after looking at the pics but after building the two smallest sets I have to say I was quite impressed. I look forward to getting the rest of the wave now after building these first two. Could they improve the sets here and there sure but I am pretty sure that I can find faults with just about any theme if I try. I think this Castle theme is geared more towards the kids and in my experience that is true as my two kids loved them.

MOC wip Haunted house need help/advice
shaggysanchez replied to Fuppylodders's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I was also thinking of hinging it the same way the LegoDr recommended but my thought was a bit different to help make it easier with the roof sections on the side. In a house that large it is not uncommon to see multiple fire places. I know it would change your design up a bit but you could put a fire place with chimney on each end of the house giving you the ability to put the hinges in them. Then you could have it open where the current chimney is located. This would also mean you would need to change the side door but you could move that to the rear of the house or possibly even have enough room to squeeze it in next to the new chimney but it might be a little cramped like that. With that said I really like what you have done with the 2 haunted houses and love the conservatory in the rear. -
While I know that this is by no means any type of definite sign that it is about to go but a few weeks ago I was in my local Lego store and was looking to pick up an extra Fire Brigade since I knew it would most likely be retiring sooner than later. When I could not find any on the shelves I asked the manager who I have built up a pretty good relationship with and he informed me they were out and would not be getting anymore back in. I had him order one for me so that I could get one and I am glad I did as I have not seen it in stock at the store since that day. The Fire Brigade is my favorite modular so I would obviously recommend it to anyone trying to decide which modular to buy. Not only is it a great build and great looking building when completed it is also an excellent parts pack for the price. Also to anyone on the fence about the Fire Brigade before I bought it I was not that impressed with it at all but after getting it I loved it.

While there is a large markup in discontinued Star Wars sets I don't think they are any different than any other theme out there once a set is retired. Have you ever looked at the prices of Cafe Corner or Green Grocer they are in line with the type of mark up that the Falcon has. Buying any set that is out of production or even a particular part for that matter is just like anything else more expensive than when it was readily available. It isn't because of mini figs, theme, or even the particular set (although there are a few iconic sets that are a bit crazy looking at you Falcon) its all about supply and demand. The re-sellers have something that you want and they know they are the only way you can get it so they can determine the price. It is no different than anything else that isn't produced anymore from a classic car to Jordan shoes.

In my opinion it is worth every penny. I had reservations about spending $400 on it at first as I saw it more as a play set than a collectible like the UCS Falcon but once I started building it I was hooked. I should mention that I used a 10% coupon when I bought mine and also got it during double VIP so those two things helped but I would pay full price for it right now without any VIP points and still feel that it was worth it. The figs are older but it doesn't take away anything from the set if you ask me.

I think in the US it is clear the B-Wing was not selling as well as they would have hoped or as well as it does overseas since it got such a large discount. It is not like they do this to all sets all of the time. There was no discount on the Super Star Destroyer, Death Star, or R2-D2 this year for May 4th promotion and I would guess that it might be because R2-D2 especially and the other 2 sell better than the B-Wing in the US. I know none of this is scientific and just my opinion but I always see kids and adults alike looking at those 3 sets and I rarely see anyone paying much attention to the B-Wing at my local store. I think it was not as popular of a set as others at least here in the US and with the $200 price it pushed people to buy other sets instead. I think that with the X-Wing coming out they needed more shelf space in stores and with all of the stores having large stock of the B-Wing this was the best way to not only clear out old inventory. As someone who buys a lot of Lego I am glad they do discounts like this at times as it makes it easier for me when there is a set I am on the fence about buying. I did not take advantage of the B-Wing sale just because I was never crazy about the set and put the $100 towards a set I really wanted. I don't think you can hold out and not buy sets though in the fear of them going on sale because some sets might not ever get much of a discount before they go away.
-
I went to my store with intentions to buy R2D2 and the B-Wing because of the great price. Once I saw the X-Wing in person sitting there next to the B-Wing though it was really no contest. I knew the price of the B-Wing was great but I have never been crazy about the set so I put that money towards the X-Wing. I ended up walking out with R2D2, the X-Wing, and 2 Han Figs.
-
While the B-Wing at 50% off is a nice deal I would have much rather had 10-20% off of sets like R2D2 and or the Super Star Destroyer. I can get better discounts on all of the other sites daily from Amazon.

Very nice work I really like it. When you say it took 2 sets and a lot of Bricklink pieces to build about how many extra pieces do you think you needed to build it.

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
shaggysanchez replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I got an email from TLG today about May 4th minifig, free shipping, and the poster but nothing about any sales or discounts on sets. Any idea when we might get info on that or could they not be doing any discounts this year?
