Thanks, yes I'm really enjoying the build! The cost of a used one is around EUR400 and up. This one costs a lot less with brand new parts so I'm really pleased with it. I will make some modifications, minor for the meantime, like pimp it up with 4 more canons and spruce up the captains' cabin. I'm planning to also put a crows nest, if it fits

Work in progress If you can notice, I replaced the 4x1 tan brick arch with dark brown. The order for correct color is already on the way. The bow. Since it's very hard to find the 4x1 curved part in dark brown (even S@H don't sell them), I replaced them with 1x3 and some tiles and cheese slopes. I think it still looks ok.

Wow, i bought a few months ago 4 sets of those F1 wheels for just $10. didn't know they cost that much now. and why is it the cost for the plain tires without print much higher than those with prints?

So all of the parts have arrived. To sum it up, it was relatively easy to Bricklink this project. 90% of the parts are brand new. It took me two days to hunt the parts. I bought from 8 different shops, including Lego S@H. Most of the BL shops where I bought were located in Germany, cheapest and fastest to send. I bought the rigging and the boat mast in S@H since they have the cheapest price. For the boat hull, I think we can use the updated one (part# 95227 with 5 holes) since it was a lot cheaper and can be sourced easily brand new. There were some substitutions as I noted on my post above. Certain parts that I didn't bought were the technic parts that I already have. So all in all, I spent around EUR240.00, including the EUR40 shipping charges. Here are the pictures of the parts. I will update this as the work progresses...

The parts are arriving! First to arrive are the sails, from the seller in Poland. Brand new and in original lego packaging. Other parts will be arriving soon in the next few days

Thanks Master56! The cost of the blue bricks is much more than the cost of the set BNIB. I'll check if there are cheaper bricklink alternatives Did you also replace the dark red bricks?
-
Nice job! I wonder how much it costs to change to blue? and chrome parts?

Bought this lot from a garage sale for $30. Saw the train rails inside a trash bag and did not know I have the bonus PF parts inside. Duplo for the 3 year old Assorted lego parts, like 3 kilos, no bite marks, just dusty

I got it from a Swiss website just like eBay. (ricardo.ch) Good thing no one bid on that particular item so I got it at the base price what the seller put on it. -
So I Bricklinked the Imperial Flagship. My running total is EUR240.00 including shipping. If I search enough, maybe i can save a few euros. My order does not include minifigs nor the instructions. Substitution was made on the following: Dark Brown Slope, Inverted 75 2 x 1 x 3 Dark Brown Slope, Curved 4 x 1 No Studs Reddish Brown Support 2 x 2 x 11 Solid Pillar I will upload pictures once I received all the parts

I'm a Technic and modulars collector and just discovered the Pirates Theme which is also amazing. Recently bought a used 6243 for $40. With instructions and w/o box, missing a few bits and 2 minifigs but still a bargain. I added a crow's nest after the build -

You can connect the M motor to a PF IR receiver then use a speed remote controller from a train. On this set up, you can actually control the speed as you like even if you use an ordinary battery box

Can anyone determine the size of the gondola's roof? Is the dish 4x4 or 6x6?

Wow, that's a bit pricey now for £120 per set. I bought a set 2 weeks ago from a toyshop in France, just EUR100 per set.

A few months ago, I bought this 60052 in Superpack for around EUR190 (converted from swiss francs) from a toyshop in Switzerland. The box includes the train set, the new train station and 2 sets of tracks.. They were still available on their shop but back in their usual price at EUR270.00. Here's the link on their french site http://www.maxitoys.fr/12238372.html

maybe you mean "patience" :) So I received an email from Lego that my TH ordered last Oct 22 was already shipped today! I ordered it days before they put it under "SOLD OUT" and was informed that it will take 2-3 weeks for delivery. They made good on their promise and waiting time is only 1 week!
