  1. Wow, that was quick. I'm happy that 73 out of 200 parts already have the "AddedToLDD" tag. And I'm also glad that none of the "Remove from palette" requests actually got removed: I consider myself an "includer" and I guess that no part at all should be removed from the LDD palette, at least as it comes to the LDD extended mode: Although some parts look quite similar to other parts, you may easily recognize significant differences; e.g. 93888 has some reinforcements underside that 3007 does not have, 90194 has some additional structure underside that 48183 does not have and 74968 has round reinforcements which neither 87544 nor 2362 has: 2362 has no reinforcements at all and the 87544 ones are not rounded. So I guess all parts should be kept included in LDD, at least in extended mode! Especially since every existing LXF file using one of these parts renders useless when it gets removed. I am however a bit sad that no legacy (raised and non-raised) baseplate at all is included in this list like the different sorts of 6024, 6092, 3097, 2552, 606, 309, 4478 or 6100. I currently also miss 4873 (45 sets, the open stud opposite to 6140), 4627-4629 (either as single parts or completely assembled, 32 sets), 200 (9 sets, maybe with a lower prio), any sort of flexible string (such as x77) and some legacy road signs (such as 80045). And definitely all Friends minidoll body parts must be included here as well: Heads, torsos and legs are completely missing (wigs and hairpieces however are already almost completely included in LDD). By the way, the existing friends parts (especially the cute animals) could use way better decoration support! In my humble opinion the bionicle and hero factory parts on the other hand should get a somewhat lower prio: I don't want to rant and rave, but I don't consider bionicle as "real" Lego, so I don't mind if these parts are not included in LDD, since they are actually not very useful outside of bionicle sets. I hope I won't be outnumbered by the bionicle fanboys, but we don't have Clikits, Primo, Znap, Quatro or Duplo parts here either. But back to topic: Some existing parts should be overhauled as well: 30104, 32200, 32201, 32202, 32235, 30527, 6211, 76324, 76302, 76255, 61356, 76275, 76257, 55676, 62530, 76254, 76277, 57274, 71923, 71986 and 71155 all should get the "Add flex" tag, too. The bird 2546 should get the "Add multicolor" and/or the "Add decoration" tag to get the classic pirate parrot pattern (2546a). 4865 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 4865pb08, 4865pb05, 4865pb04, 4865pb03, 4865pb02, 4865pb01, 4865px9 or 4865p06. 4864 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 4864px16, 4864px6, 4864bp11, 4864bp10, 4864bpx6, 4864bpx3, 4864bpx2, 4864apx15, 4864apx14, 4864apx13, 4864apx9, 4864apx7, 4864apx6, 4864apx5, 4864apx4, 4864apx3, 4864bpx4, 4864bpx1, 4864ap03, 4864ap02 or 4864ap01. 87552 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 87552pb016 or 87552pb003. 2362 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 2362pb05, 2362pb04 or 2362pb02. 4215 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 4215pb025, 4215bpx27, 4215bpx26, 4215bpx18, 4215bpx15, 4215bpx2, 4215bpx1, 4215apb07, 4215apx4, 4215apx3, 4215apb12, 4215ap66, 4215ap30, 4215ap25, 4215ap24, 4215ap19, 4215ap18, 4215ap09, 4215ap08, 4215ap07, 4215ap06, 4215ap05, 4215ap04, 4215ap03, 4215ap02 or 4215ap01. 59349 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 59349pb045, 59349pb044 or 59349pb043. 4444 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 4444p06, 4444p05, 4444p04, 4444p03, 4444p02, 4444p01, 4444pb04, 4444pb03 or 4444pb01. 2345 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 2345p44, 2345p01, 2345pb06, 2345pb05, 2345pb02, 2345pb01. 30562 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 30562px2 or 30562px1. 30156 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 30156px4, 30156px3, 30156px2, 30156px1, 30156pb02, 30156pb01. 2466 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 2466p68 or 2466p07. 2468 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 2468pb03 or 2468pb02. 2408 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 2408p04, 2408p02, 2408p01 or 2408pb01. 30320 should get the "Add decoration" tag to resemble prints [sic!, not stickers] like 30117pb04R, 30117pb04L, 30117pb03R, 30117pb03L, 30117pb02R, 30117pb02L, 30117pb05, 30117pb01, Maybe 2748 should get its geometry changed to round corners (or an additional 16x32 baseplate with round corners should be introduced, e.g. 3857). Last but not least, 2578 is currently included in the towball fitting variant; the hinge fitting variant used to be included but got removed some updates ago. I'd pretty much appreciate if both variants were included in LDD, especially since the now missing part already used to exist. I guess we discussed this issue before: TLG can't cope very well with different parts sharing the same number. Anyway, keep up your good work! A big "Thank you" and "Kudos"!
  2. Seems to be rather an collision error than an attaching error: Using 3062 instead of 3626 attaches quite well.
  3. 57702 is not (yet) included in LDD. You may file a request in this thread.
  4. Please have a look at this thread. And maybe you could elaborate on "totally messed up" by posting some images/screenshots and/or your LDR file.
  5. LXF files are in fact ZIP archives containing a PNG thumbnail and the LXFML file: The LXFML file is sort of an XML file containing the actual model. If you are interested in the XML schema, have a look at this thread.
  6. You are partly right: Although this issue occurs on IE only, it is actually caused by an outdated forum software apparently used here on Eurobricks.com. Maybe the technical staff could update Eurobricks.com to a more recent version of IP.Board where this issue is fixed? Or at least some mod/admin pins some notice to the help section?
  7. Hi Superkalle, since summer slowly fades away and the foggy fall is about to come, do you plan to update the "FansMostWantedJanuary2013"-most-requested-to-come-LDD-parts-list anytime soon? Since this list was posted back in January we got quite a bunch of LDD part updates and a lot of the wishes posted in that file have already been satisfied. So, what are the most wanted parts which have not (yet) been included in the recent 1182 parts update? Some legacy raised baseplates? 4873? Anyway, do you have any insight if TLG will keep the high frequency in delivering parts updates? I guess they are now more quickly in releasing new part updates than in the bygone years. Do you think this is an exception or may we expect even more part updates this year?
  8. Yeah, 2348 and 2349 are finally there . Too bad 4214 is still missing . Has anyone figured out by now which decorations are new?
  9. This issue is not limited to the said hub, but rather seems to occur on almost every part with a technical hole; I've tested so far the parts 90202, 6541, 3700, 32000, 3701, 3894, 3702, 2730, 3895, 32018, 3703, 32324, 32531, 32532, 32555, 32009, 6629, 32271, 32348, 32526, 32140, 60484, 43857, 32523, 32316, 32524, 40490, 32525, 41239, 32278, 42003, 98285, 98286 and 11458: Their technical holes can be attached to each side stud of 4733 but not on its top stud.
  10. Isn't it enough that we feel superior? Do we really need empirical evidence to be elite? Maybe it's all easy: AFOLs most likely used LEGO as a kid as well. LEGO is rather expensive. Kids whose parents are financially better off are more likely getting more LEGO than kids with poor parents. Poor people are less likely to get a higher education as well; I guess one's (formal) education correlates to a great deal with his parents' wealth. So LEGO, education and wealth depend on each other. But I do not want to judge who is chicken and who is egg: Using LEGO helps boosting your spatial senses, thus allowing more success in the STEM fields, thus getting a higher education, thus getting rich yourself and thus getting even more LEGO and becoming an AFOL.
  11. In this thread you may post some bricks you'd like to have in LDD. Feel free to browse the BrickLink Reference Catalog, if you are uncertain about their respective part number. For older bricks not used for a longer time or only used in very little sets (like e.g. 4626) or bricks TLG has no digital models for, chances are less good than for more recent and more common bricks (like the whole Friends stuff). So don't be too upset if your bricks are disregarded: LDraw had, has, and probably will always have more parts than LDD. Maybe you are lucky and some of your parts are incorporated into the next LDD update. Although there is no fixed schedule or roadmap when this update is due (at least no publicly available), in the last years there always was one update in the late summer or early fall and another one in the late winter or early spring. Who knows, maybe we are lucky and get some new bricks in September or October.
  12. Are you sure this really is a bug? Is there an official set that combines 6536 and 32310 in the depicted way? Please do closely compare the parts 42003 and 6536 at the images you posted: At part 42003 there is a small gap or offset between the two pin holes and the rest of the part, so that the pin holes fit tightly into the respective cutouts of part 32310. At part 6536, however, the single pin hole does not jut out and does not protrude from the rest of the part, so that part 6536 will interfere with part 32310. Please put 42003 and 6536 onto the same axle and you'll see that the lower part of 6536 is way more projecting than the lower part of 42003. Taking these facts into consideration, it is quite comprehensible that 42003 will fit and 6536 won't, as (according to the images you posted) 42003 isn't simply a 2-pin-hole version of 6536, but has a slightly different shape.
  13. Well, to give an upper bound: LEGO stored at the attic does not like any sort of attic fire that much, even if that fire burns at temperatures as low as 800℃: Even then it might get slightly out of shape... Although you get some rather unique "bricks" (or rather "baseplates") that way, a whole box of melted plastic is a fairly sad sight. Even if it's not your very own LEGO, it will sure make you depressed for a while having to watch this scenery. So don't try this at home! According to page 9 of this book (and this german website too), the plastic grains melt at exactly 232℃ when they are put into the injection molding machine, so LEGO should not get any warmer than 232˚C anyway. And colder than -232℃ is presumably not good either: If you have some liquid nitrogen at hand, you may try it for yourself (please don't) and see what I mean...
  14. I'm a bit disappointed they didn't use the Official LEGO Movie Maker to make the Official LEGO Movie. Or did they?
  15. In this locked thread the most important tags and rank signs are described. However, I've encountered quite a bunch of special tags not described anywhere: Certain members have plenty of them, although you might only guess what they mean. Sure, the more tags, the more special and valuable these members are - but why they are, remains a mystery. So let's make a collection of tags special to the LEGO Digital Designer and other digital tools special interest subforum and explain its respective intent. Here are some tags I have a vague idea what they maybe could perhaps mean, but I would be glad if someone with the proper insight posted a neat definition what each one exactly stands for and how to earn them. If there are other tags special to this subforum, feel free to post them here as well.
  16. As long as you won't violate TLGs trademarks, it'll be OK to use LDD to create screenshots for educational and other non-commercial purposes. The EULA from LDD 4.3.6 states: IANAL, but as far as I understand "content created through use of the Software" includes screenshots as well, since you can make screenshots via Ctrl+K directly from LDD and without the need of third party products. Writing whole books however might be in another league. Have you already had a look at the TLG fair play brochure? Let me quote from page 10: So I guess to be on the safe side you maybe should file an inquiry to get their Books Policy: As far as I know, they send it only on request but have it nowhere online.
  17. Why do they use PDFs at all? Is there really someone out there actually printing them on paper dead wood? Wouldn't seamlessly zoomable scalable vector graphics (SVGs) do the trick much better, as they are both of smaller file size and of better quality?
  18. Where is the museum where this stuff is exhibited? I mean, this is something you'll share with others, you won't keep it in your hobby cellar, will you? It sure needs some of these badges: By the way: Is it true that the bricks back then weren't made of plastic but consisted mainly of clay and sawdust?
  19. I recently happened to edit some lxfml-files manually: Switching between LDD and Notepad is a bit cumbersome. So I guess it might be a good idea to add some sort of shell console to LDD where the XML-content of the current model is displayed in real-time and can be edited in-place.
  20. Have you considered using the Red Cross Tracing Service to reconnect your family links?
  21. http://ldd.lego.com/en-us/download/ --> If you've downloaded LDD there after 2013-03-08 you already have version 4.3.6
  22. It's a known limitation of the IP.Board Forum Software or rather the CK Editor. According to this post it seems to be adressed in a newer version: The issue has been patched in CK Editor 3.6.5. IP.Board 3.4.4 is running CK Editor 3.6.6, so the problem should be fixed by upgrading your forum to the newest IP.Board.
  23. Dump that MAC and get a real PC . No, I'm just kidding. I observed a similar behaviour on a "real" PC as well. Is that behaviour occuring on any arbitrary file, or just at one single special one? When I failed to save over an already existing LDD file, it turned out it was another program having an open handle on that file so that the file was locked for LDD; if I recall it correctly, it was some antivirus scanner examining that file at the same time I was trying to save it. Closing this handle manually helped; I can't however tell you how to manually close a file handle on a MAC. Do you get any error message? If so, is it always the same error message or do they vary? Can you export / import your model instead of save / load it? Is your computer at work a MAC, too, or was the file that makes your MAC crash originally created at a "real" PC? If so, how do you transfer your file? If you burn them on any optical medium like CD or DVD, they automatically get a write-protect attribute: Even if copied back to a harddrive, you can't alter them until the write-protect attribute is removed manually. This, however, shouldn't crash LDD, neither on a MAC nor on a "real" PC. So if this issue is still urgent, please do provide some more details.
  24. Unfortunately a lot of bricks special to Lego Friends are not (yet) in LDD, even in the latest version of it. Especially the minidolls are completely absent and obviously most of the Friends pets, too. Other accessories are indeed included, but hard to find: Take for example the "Friends Accessories Hair Dryer", Bricklink part "93080c": It is actually in LDD (only in Extended mode), but using the number "96484" and the name "M6". Another example is the LDD part "94724" with the name "M8", which Bricklink knows as part "92355b" "Friends Accessories Spray Bottle with Heart". Several other Friends parts use similar M-names and numbers totally differing from those on Bricklink, so you'll probably find them only by chance. Even if you find the correct pieces, LDD currently almost totally ignores any sort of stickers. And as Friends sets heavily rely on stickers, it currently is a pain in the buttocks no fun building Friends sets in LDD, as they tend to be rather incomplete. That might be the reason that there are so little in the thread "Official LEGO Sets made in LDD". You may however file a request in this thread for additional Friends parts (including minidolls) and in this thread for sticker support. There is no gurantee if and when these requests will be added to LDD, but taking the experience from the last years into consideration, there might be an update this fall which might add some new parts.
  25. Was LDD already open when downloading the LXF or LXFML file? When I try to open multiple instances of LDD, I get a similar (but localized) message: I guess some important files get locked by the first instance so that a second instance won't load properly. Do you get this message even if no other instance of LDD is running?
