Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
Marvelfan120 replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
anyone else starting to wonder if forth civil war actually happening? -
Love the trailer, like the new suit... The eyes threw me for a moment but they seem to be a nod back to the early days when his eyes were smaller... Cool.
-
Nice. I'm glad they're not cutting it down too much.... I get sick of the bite size culture that wants every film to follow the same formula, be 2 hours and have the the same plot elements... okay, getting down off the soapbox now.
-
personally I feel like marvel needs to kill a big character. Killing Coulson didn't have impact because he was never a major character before avengers and he came back... The death of Quicksilver had less impact because he was just introduced... I think it needs to be Cap, I think it would give the film what it needs, IMPACT. It would also give people a reason to stop and think about what they are doing. I think killing War Machine just makes Iron Man and company angry and stirs things up further, Cap's death on the other hand would make Stark say, oh (expletive deleted) what have we done! BTW: In other, sort of, news, http://nerdreactor.com/2016/03/04/exclusive-agent-carter-to-be-renewed-for-season-3/ Perhaps take this with a grain of salt but (hopefully) agent carter will return for a (most likely final) season 3. If this is true I think they will try and find something else to fill in during the hiatus after next season. I think they want a marvel show to fill in during the break... It's the only reason I can see them renewing such a poor performer (although I liked both seasons of the show).

Batman v Superman v Captain America Civil War
Marvelfan120 replied to Marvelfan120's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I'd like to echo some of few things and add to them. I love to see characters philosophical/political ideologies challenged. At the same time, I feel that CA TWS challenged cap more than some think. He was forced to realize that the group he trusted was not what he thought. I feel this sets up Civil War nicely. Just because a government or international body is policing superheroes does not mean they will be used properly. Governments and international bodies can make mistakes and be corrupted. i do hope to see more of the political side in BvS as well. As for the tonal differences, I feel that if DC copied marvel's tone, or vice versa this is the copying that would bother me, as far as some plot elements being borrowed, everybody does that. I enjoy marvel's movies and TV as well as some of DC's offerings (like Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow) part of what I enjoy about the DC offerings is the fact that they are different... If it were otherwise, I doubt I'd give DC's stuff a second look... If all I had to eat was my favorite food, I'd get sick of it pretty fast. -
Batman v Superman v Captain America Civil War

I can see your point. Part of the reason i started the thread was to learn more about DC in general. I think accusing DC or Marvel of copying the other is pointless at this stage... Have both copied a ton of ideas from the other YES, does anyone really care enough for it to matter... i think the the answer is a resounding NO. I don't know who planned their next movie first and don't care, i personally like that the two movies are in some ways similar. It's kind of fun for a geek like me to get to see how the two companies express conflict between their heroes :P -

This is what i wanted to focus on. I think any conversation about MCU VS DCCU is silly. You're really can't compare the two and if you do, it's rea;lly more about opinion than anything else. I'm more interested in comparing the next film from each DoJ and CA:CW. I mean it may be premature because the films aren't out yet, but we do know some things because of the comic versions. As stated, I feel the biggest difference is that the CA:CW starts out with a wider vision. DoJ seems to me to be more of a personal battle between Batman and Superman. Both have their qualities and appeal to different people. It seems to me that, at least in the comic universes, this is a central difference between the two (correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not as well versed on DC). You have DC which seems to focus on individuals and marvel that seems to tend more towards social issues. -
I've been thinking about why I like marvel over DC, especially in the case of Batman V Superman and Captain America: Civil War. I think that while the two films have similarities (heroes battling heroes), the interesting thing is there differences. Admittedly I know far less about DC than Marvel, so I invite DC fans to correct any mistakes. The way I see BvS is that two heroes who don't like each other's style have a grudge match that ends when a larger threat arrives and they must work together. Civil War on the other hand is more a political tale wherein two teams face off over ideological differences. I'd like to know why DC and Marvel fans like the stories they do. Let's keep discussion 'civil' and not let this defend into a our company is better cause yours sucks debate... As for my own opinion I have always liked that Marvel, seemingly more than DC (forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong) ties their stories to real world issues... How do you deal with regulating weapons when the weapons are people? To me is a fascinating question, while is one guys method on good or bad or better or worse than another. To be clear I plan to see both movies and hope to enjoy both and if I like BvS over CA:CW I will admit it.

Xbox vs PlayStation: Why are the debates so heated?
Marvelfan120 replied to xboxtravis7992's topic in Culture & Multimedia
While I will admit that some of what I said (the used game thing for one) may well have been rumor. The bit about defective games or games just not working comes from what I consider extremely reliable sources. I will say it is possible that the local store just had a problem because of a few bad batches of games or consoles... I suppose that is possible. In the end I think the most important thing is which system someone likes as they are, at least as of today, largely even in terms of quality and reliability. -
I'm frankly a bit disappointed with the sound of Most Wanted... I mean I'll give it a whirl but it sounds a tad bit contrived to me.

re: the new daredevil trailer... Oh... My... Gods!... this promises to be positively awesome in the truest sense of the word! I absolutely can't wait! In other breaking news... http://www.ew.com/article/2016/02/25/finn-jones-iron-fist Finn Jones is to play iron fist... Had hoped for an Asian American Danny Rand but here's hoping Finn is as good in Iron Fist as the others netflix stars have been in the shows already out!

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
Marvelfan120 replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
Was able to grab the black panther set at the Walmart here in Rhode Island today :D. Gonna put it together Sunday. None of the other sets were there but I honestly didn't expect this one... I was doing other shopping and poked my head down the Lego isle... So stoked! -
For me DOFP made the first 3 obsolete as that whole time line was nuked. Also, I loved DOFP but I feel like deadpool surpassed it so... 5. Wolverine Origins 4. the Wolverine 3. X-Men First Class 2. X-Men Days of Future Past 1. Deadpool While we're at it, here's my MCU list 12. iron Man 2 11. the Incredible Hulk 10. Thor: The dark World 9. iron man 3 8. Thor 7. Captain America TFA 6 Avenger AOU 5. Ant Man 4. Iron Man 3. Guardians 2. Avengers 1. Captain America WS I'm hopeful I'll have new number ones for both lists come may... I am really excited for Civil War and Age of Apocalypse! oh, and, it looks like we're going to have a new inhuman from comic roots on MAOS http://marvel.com/news/tv/25737/marvels_agents_of_shield_recruits_natalia_cordova-buckley_to_the_secret_warriors Sounds like a good addition but i wonder how they will do her speed and how much considering the lower budget but dc pulls it off nicely with flash so... It's nice to see them bringing in more characters considering Bobbi and Hunter are leaving for most wanted...

Personally I feel like a second marvel thread for fox would be a mistake. Maybe I'm wrong but, while I'm sure there are a few, I don't think there are a ton of people interested in only fox or marvel studios offerings. Also, where would we discuss fox/marvel relations? I mean we could have a third thread but then we start getting into dangerous waters. In the licenced section I swear we have a thread for every type of post there is... I'd hate to see that happen in culture & multimedia. As for the subject of the R ratings, I am overjoyed. Diversity in a genre is the lifeblood of any genre. Start getting repetitive and you die. Edit: also, I found this (spoiler link): http://movieweb.com/deadpool-2-cable-keira-knightley-stephen-lang-fan-art/

Future Marvel Superheroes Rumors & Speculation
Marvelfan120 replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
A large number of action figured have been announced for marvel and x-men... http://screenrant.co...civil-war-toys/ I'm not sure where the rights are as of now for the x-men as their have been some dealings between the companies (marvel green lighting fox to produce two x-men shows, the companies collaborating on a film coming in 2018) but as far as I know they are still with marvel. Hopefully this is the first step in a direction that will eventually get us more x-men (and/or Fantastic Four) sets... Also, i see there is a Nuke Figure. I wonder if he may becoming more of a mainstay in the MCU in the future and thus be a figure one day -
Yeah, I forget which website it was that reported that but they blew their reputation and are now the subject of a lot of jokes in comment sections like "yeah, they got their info from the same guy that (insert websites name) got it... the lazy eyed guy at the local comic shop whose always got 'inside info"

Daredevil season 2 trailer tease released... http://www.comingsoon.net/tv/trailers/657039-daredevil-season-2-trailer-tease-released#/slide/1 Can't wait for March 18. This should be great.

Saw deadpool and, as promised... Spoilers... Spock dies, darth Vader is deadpool's father, deadpool is kisar soze and at the end, you find out deadpool has actually been dead the whole time and the kid who 'sees dead people' is the only one that can actually see him... Seriously though, good flick, one of the best origin story superhero films to date IMO. Very funny but, its deadpool, how could it not be.
-
I hope marvel gets the rights to the FF back soon for the team itself but even more so for the supporting characters and villains. As far as the X-Men go, fox has been doing a pretty good job with them so I don't mind them having the rights... Still it would be nice for if fox and Disney relations could be good enough for the to pull off a deal like the disney/ Sony one so we could have crossovers... However, even with relations between the two companies appearing to soften, I'd say any deal of that magnitude is at least 5 years out and that's probably optimistic in the extreme. Anyway, my showing of deadpool imax is about an hour away!!! I'll make sure to spoil it hard when I'm done jk

Xbox vs PlayStation: Why are the debates so heated?
Marvelfan120 replied to xboxtravis7992's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Like many I'm all about to each their own, just like I respect DC and it's fans and enjoy some DC offerings but my heart is with Marvel... In the console wars however my allegiance has shifted. I was all about the 360 (the PS3 had a lot of problems) but when X-Box one/PS4 were getting ready to come out all I kept hearing was how microsoft was trying to stop people being able to sell used games, claiming it was about stopping piracy when the gains that would be made by forcing everyone to by new games would make what they'd save stopping piracy look like spare change. In the Mac vs PC world I stayed with PC for many reasons but a big one was that while Microsoft wanted to rule the world Apple complained about that while showing the same with their own policies. If there's anything I can't stand it's hypocritical companies that try and hide the reasons behind their policies with obvious lies. they assume the public is that gullible and sadly, most of the time, they're right. The used game thing put me off the x-box one but I didn't make my final decision until awhile after the systems came out as I am not enough of a gamer to go out and try to get a release day version or early model. I talked to a lot of local game shop guys and did a bit of surfing on the net getting a variety of opinions (duh)... The big thing I kept hearing was that microsoft rushed to market before they were ready and the system was really buggy, to the point where some games hardly worked for weeks before microsoft could get updates out. (by the way, I'm not trying to start a debate regarding any of this, all I know is that is what I was hearing). It seemed to me that microsoft A: tried to put an end to used games to boost their bottom line and B: rushed a product to market before it was ready because they didn't want the PS4 to beat them by a year because they had to release in time for the holiday season (something microsoft does a lot) I summation I want to clarify that I greatly respect the rights of individual gamers (and consumers in general) to make their choice of systems (and products of all kinds) and am not going to argue the merits of one over the other or put down consumers based on their decisions. We all look at the pros and cons of how we spend our money and, to be fair, their aren't many corporations that don't lie their tales off on a regular basis, I'm sure someone out there could point out a hundred lies sony (not to mention marvel lol) has put out their... Still i will admit to a level of smug satisfaction when I see articles about X-box one being outsold by PS4 at a rate of almost 2 to 1... Sue me :P -
Well, they need to do something to separate it from agents of shield. I think a show where the characters operate independently immediately separates it from MAOS. Giving them a bit more leeway in their tactics makes that separation real. Personally, i think a different tone is the first only way to really make it work... How would you make the separation?

Can't seem to get that link to work but I expect you mean the huge spicky blue hair. Persoannly I hope they keep the spicky blue but shorten the length a lot. Not everything that looks cool in the comics looks cool and on live action TV.
