  1. Personally, I very much dislike ninjago and chima concepts and universes (especially the latter), but I am often tempted by the interesting parts and techniques in the sets. I've managed to resist to the temptation so far I would eat up a ninjago-similar samurai theme (without the 'mechs') tho
  2. I build them, display them as is for a few weeks, then play around in LDD to improve the set. Once I'm satisfied, I buy the needed bricks and build the improved model. I tend not to have a lot of models on display, since i dont really have the room for it. Currently there's the UCS Imperial Shuttle, the improved version of Queen Anne's Revenge, and an improved version of vampyre castle
  3. You're absolutely right, and that's the part of the model I'm least satisfied with. I'll have to think of something to fill up that space when I'm redesigning the cockpit Yea, there's a reclining chair and a control panel, but it's impossible to photograph while inside cockpit, I'll take a picture of it when it's disassembled :)
  4. Yeah, the cockpit does come out a little to small in respect to the wings, and it's one of the things I'm going to work on when redesigning the model. For the last few days I've been toying with the idea of using the bottom of the death star from the planet sets as the rear half of the cockpit, I'll have to get my hands on one and see how it goes There is, and there's also a tie pilot in there, but it's impossible to see in the pictures :)
  5. The TIE Interceptor has always been my favorite ship in the SW universe. One of the fastest fighters of it's time, it's deadliness went hand in hand with it's beautiful, menacing design, intended to provide the pilot with increased visibility and decrease overall targeting area for enemy fighters. Lacking heavier armor, the TIE INT pilots had to rely on speed and maneuverability to outgun the rebels praised X-wings Over the course of LEGO SW history, there have been two attempts two capture the iconic TIE Interceptor, both falling short. The 2000 UCS version failed on wing design, both with dimension, proportions and silly part usage (grid panels??) The 2006 midi size version was part the worst LEGO TIE lineup ever, with unexplainable blue color scheme and blocky, uninspired design. I believe we will get a revamped version of the Interceptor soon, probably in line with the latest TIE FIghter, but until then, here is my version in minifig size: I am not 100% satisfied with the cockpit design, and will probably be making some alterations to it in the future. Of course, all suggestions and comments on improving the design are welcome :) Cheers!

  8. Beautiful work! May I ask how you made the clock hands? Is it a sticker? From which set?
  9. Wow, now that's thinking out of the box
  10. Awesome and inspiring as usual. I have one question though. What parts did you use to make that window on the tower (the one that looks like a cross)?
  11. This is a brilliant moc, good job
  12. I was looking through some local used lego listings and came across this set: http://www.brickset....ail/?set=7572-1 Its a 7572-1: Quest Against Time set from the prince of persia line. While I'm not a fan of the movie, or the lego line for that matter, I found it to be a perfect parts pack for castle/history mocs. It can be had for around $30, and for that price you get 500 very usable bricks (including a light brick, and those great looking lion head bricks) and 4 great minifigs. What do you guys think, and can you recommend some other good value part packs?
  13. I would very much like for the fell beast to be brick built, as i feel the large molds diminish the overall feel of ''lego''. Any toy company can go ahead and make a plastic molded dragon, but making large creatures come to life in brick built form is what makes the magic of lego. Also, with the countless new brick molds and colors, it is possible to make it look real, smooth and organic. Something like this smaug:
  14. That's all well and good, but anyone who's into lego knows better than to shop on ebay. The prices there are totally dubious. I see sets still in production being sold for 3x their value.
  15. This is just awful. From the ''waterfall'' design, RGB colors, unnecessary vehicle molds and forced gameplay. I can definitely see how this theme can appeal to kids, god knows i had goofier toys when I was a kid. But how can anyone over 16 find this ''awesome'' is beyond me.
  16. This, for me, is one of the best mid size SW set. Very accurate representation, great display and swoosh value.

  19. I tried that, but it's just to oval and doesn't really flow right with the rest of the cockpit. Also it's 2 stud too small so it ends up sticking out from the middle awkwardly :) Yeah, I'll probably go with that. Do you have any examples I could shamelessly steal from?
  20. Hey all! I'm working on a UCS size TIE Interceptor MOC, and I'm looking for an alternative for the very rare (and expensive) original windscreen: I was surprised to see there was very little alternative for that piece, only other transparent colors it comes in are trans blue, trans green, and trans neon green: There is a part that comes with some aqua themes, but also in trans blue and trans green The only other available and cheap part that would fit the description is this: But I'm just not very satisfied with it. Can anyone suggest any other alternatives?
  21. A man is truly a funny specimen. We have a habit of adding fictional value to products, and even entire industries revolving around it (branding, marketing, auctioning...) We create artificial sparsity so we could market stuff to people too vain to use/wear the same stuff as everyone else. In my opinion, a toys value is equal to amount of happiness it brings to you, and a sealed box of legos brings infinitely less happiness to me than an open box of legos which i can build, play with and display. I can somewhat understand the higher price on REALLY old sets, as i can justify it as wanting to own a part of history. But the prices on sets as recent as few years ago (imperial flagship, or sw ucs's) being as high as they are, is truly baffling and saddening at the same time. (especialy since you can build them from regular lego parts available from other sets or bricklink) I almost feel as tho the people that are collecting and reselling MISB legos are ruining the fun for the rest of us, because they're making people feel guilty opening sealed sets (as with the OP). It's similar to the online gaming, where a number of people incapable of enjoying the game the way it's supposed to, just play for the sake of collecting an hoarding valuables, often destroying in game economy and ruining the fun for other people (see diablo 3 :D )
  22. I think it's one of the most beautiful castle designs lego has made. I'm not quite fond of the whole ''monster fighters'' story line, so i intend to turn the castle into something more medieval, add some evil knights and dwarves and perhaps shelob as the castle guardian :) The car is great tho, great colors, but the net launcher is a bit bulky and unnecessary, will probably replace that too.
  23. Sorry about that. Here's my latest:
  24. It should lower the shipping charges, but the best prices will still be in the US, and US stores generally dont ship lego to europe. Plus, our customs charge additional 30% of the total price of the package (including shipping), and they are not going away for another few years... So, no happy times I recently had an impulse purchase of a Whitecap Bay set from Barnes and Nobles, price was $58, which seemed like a good deal. But then came the $12 shipping (VERY reasonable shipping for a box that size) + $25 customs. $95 total for a rather disappointing set.
  25. I created an account just to let you know how lucky you guys are in the US. In my country (Croatia) helms deep goes for 1159 kuna, which is $200, and we NEVER have a discount.
