Heroica RPG - Quest #136: The Sorcerer's Stone
Zepher replied to Purpearljellyblob's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: Sorry for my inactivity. Hope you saw that my computer has been taken out in the discussion thread, probably should have posted it here too. Hope to have it up and running soon, borrowing a friends but inactivity may continue for a while more. Bobby helps Kiray finish the job. He's a little nervous about the rumblings himself, but they had already started... even though he wasn't so sure why they were doing it if they had the key, he figured that the more experienced hero knew best. And it would have left him feeling funny, to only move half the rocks. -
I'm very disappointed I was without a computer for a spirited debate about the Baltarok trilogy. I would have loved to come to the Kingdoms' defense. I do hate seeing my quests being called lose-lose, though! They may just not be as much of a win-win as some other QMs, but I don't think they're always the worst possible endings either. As for 139, you guys can keep discussing it all you want, but I'll keep my commentary for the end! I have hosted simple get the treasure quests before, though! 84 and 92 both, and I was pleased with both of them.
-
Computer is with IT. It seems likely it will be at least a 24 hour fix, but I will try my very best to get my hands on a laptop today to continue the quests, albeit without pictures.
-
My problem is the deepest down the rabbit hole of a compute I've ever gone. Trying to back up my files so that I can reformat my disk... whatever the hell that all means. So probably no update until Monday when I can get this to my schools IT. Unless I become a tech genius. I'm really hoping my files aren't gone, I have all the pictures for quests on this!
-
Will throw my hat into the having severe computer troubles ring! My laptop flat out won't turn on past the boot up screen... so I'm hoping it gets better but if not we might have a bit of a pause in these quests. I just got it fixed last year. Bah.

"Very well. I value your concern for my peoples, Hoke. But as a leader, I have a duty to lead. So I do. I must lead my nation in some direction, and I would never have a clear conscience if I lead it in a direction that oppresses a whole peoples. We shall meet again, I'm certain. I will tell you then how things have gone." She bows to him. Lady Felix, Elba, U'Or and Guffington wave a final farewell to the palace as they and the heroes follow U'Voros and U'Daras to the ship. Elba quickly fires up the propellers and soon they're waving farewell to the U'Kin as well. In the air, the party finally has some time to relax. Vipera flies into view at the bow of the ship. <Follow me, Captain," she says to all, but mostly to Elba. "Hel of a day and a night, huh?" Elba says to Hoke as they follow the little dragon. "Hybros," Guffington call as he approaches the imp. "Thank you for keeping a cool head. I can tell you honestly I did not expect the political turmoil, but as I said, once we were involved, that was that. I'm glad you were all able to flex your true heroic muscles." He coughs. "About the relics. You feel under informed? Allow me to enlighten you! What would you like to know, my little friend?"

"No one wants to die. But think of the danger if we never died. There would be no change." David bows his head. "The Lord of Light is Ennoc." The party gets a night of sleep, and after a few more days of search stumbles upon an old ship, parts of it missing, frozen to the shore. They're able to climb aboard and stand on the deck. "This seems right," says David as he looks around. "But surely there have been many wrecks over the years. Still, this ship feels magical in some means to me. I imagine if there is any treasure it is below deck. Are you prepared?"- 603 replies

Wifi is down again. I'm hoping it'll be back up later this evening. Sorry for the delay!

OoC: To be fair, I was teasing a little. I don't know why people jumping around spatially bothers me so much with role play, but for whatever reason that happens to be my pet peeve. I will have Ella respond to you in earnest then! As soon as I fix that last post... "Thank you for your words," Ella says with a sly smile. "Where and how were you brought up, Mr. Abelsword?"

"Thank you for your service, Mr. Abelsword," Ella says diplomatically as he flies into her study, berates her, and then asks for supplies. He blows out to go visit Victor just as quickly, apparently. "Only by a small violent sect. Most of Dastan has handled the transition fairly well." Tarn bows to Hoke. "Thank you for your help, Hoke. It is always a pleasure to see the heroes of Heroica. And whatever the political environment, it would be wrong to not stand beside the woman I love. And it is her vision for this nation and its people that makes me love her so." "Fear not, hero fear not. Victor has been a mentor to me as I have prepared to ascend Victor has mentored me." She smiles at the imp. "We are similar, he and I. We both embody the flame of Dastan is embodied in the both of us. Which means you must also never count him out." "Of course. I have not forgotten how Heroica works, my friend. You have your employer to look to." Tarn hugs his friend again as he gives him the mask. "It warms my heart, truly, to see you all once more. Tell the others hello for me. Tesni, Ellaria. And Atramor, of course. See that he doesn't cause too much trouble, I beg you. You are as welcome in Dastan as I in Eubric. And my bride-to-be seems confident I shall see you all again. Her hunches are oft right." "When you are prepared, U'Voros and I will accompany you back to your ship," U'Daras tells Hybros and Guffington. OoC: Just want to let Arthur respond. I have no classes tomorrow, so should be able to update again in about 14 hours!

Heroica RPG - Quest #139: Around the World (West)

"You know you have my trust." Daneeka nods curtly to Guts. "I didn't want to put you in a situation you would rather not be in. And I will keep an eye on myself. I always do." "Best of luck, heroes, son. Come home in one piece." The heroes and their companion set out swiftly. First cutting east so as to circumvent the small jut of sea between the western lands of both the Red Lizard and Four Boulder, they eventually move north. They run into two patrols of the Four Boulders, but Prince David is able to prove himself with the royal seal, and they continue north unimpeded both times. A few days later they arrive at the southern shores of the Helventian Sea. At the dusk of that day they break for dinner. Prince David assists in starting a small fire and cooks some dried vegetables and salted meats into a hearty stew. He serves it to the heroes. "The Fountain of Youth," he ruminates as they eat. "A strange relic for heroes to search for. What do you suppose to do with it? I believe the Heroes of Heroica are already near immortal, if my understanding serves." OoC: As I said in the other thread, please let me know if things are too slow! I like kind of leisurely role-play, but I understand that it can be a little slow for others! I've been having a blast so far.- 603 replies

That's the sort of thing I usually just don't respond to. You're not screwing him over, you explained how to get them back! Don't let outsiders break the flow of your quest. If the questees complain, it becomes a discussion. But if not, let it ride. Everyone runs their own quests a little differently.

"I'll hold you to that," she says simply. With a curt nod to Guffington and Co., she disappears back into the palace. "Thank you, Purpearl. Our nation is in constant turmoil, we can only hope to move upwards within that. Maybe that does not sound hopeful to an outsider, but I promise you, my nation has grown in the years I have been alive in ways I never knew possible." The heroes move to Victor's Quarters, and find Mallelio and Tarn outside the room that Victor lies in. "I've given him an elixir to help him sleep," says Mallelio. "But you may speak with him swiftly. Each time he acts that way, I fear he shaves months off of his life. But I'm sure you're able to imagine how difficult it is to keep him on bed rest." "I take it you will be on your way shortly?" OoC: This is just a small role play interlude! You may say farewell to Victor, Tarn, Mallelio, and then go to Ella's study if you so choose! You don't have to move as a pack. I will try to update quickly so that those of you who don't wish to role play for long can move swiftly to the next stage. It is a little self-indulgent, but I'm probably not going to use Dastan again so it would be best to give some of my characters a send off. Let me know if things are ever moving too slowly!

"Polly first. Probably in the prison too though, so that shouldn't be too tough, yo!" -
"Not entirely sure how much royalty knows about our loan," says Lady Felix as she beams next to Purpearl. "So maybe keep our lips tight for a few more hours." "Hybros," Phil grins. "Mighty long time since I last saw you. And I apologize. Back in that accursed arena, I was but an ambassador. But lady fortune has since piled on me great fortune." He takes a step towards Hybros, but then stumbles. He catches himself, but looks suddenly pale, and the heroes are able to spot sickly bags under his eyes. "I fear I am not as strong as I was then." Mallelio and Tarn rush forward to support the Emperor, and help him back towards the palace. <Never fear, hero. She is but exploring.> "We did. Our best leaders were killed trying to do something about it killed some of our best leaders." Sven's followers disperse relatively rapidly, and Sven is dragged away by two soldiers. If he is alive or dead, it is impossible to tell. Returning back to the palace, the heroes are greeted by Ella and Natasha. "Thank you for interceding, heroes. I know that it was not part of your schedule, but I hope the nation has once more been nudged in the right direction. It seems we do a lot of that... subtle and slow nudges." She shakes her head sadly, but a hopeful smile remains on her lips. "Tarn and Mallelio are helping Victor back into bed. Those of you who know him... perhaps it'd be best to go say farewell, just in case. It is sometimes impossible to tell when paths will cross again, if ever. I am sure Tarn would like to say farewell as well." She looks to Guffington. "Once the heroes have said their good byes, Vipera will lead your retinue and the heroes to her homeland. There you shall find what you are looking for." "What's the good bye we prophetesses give?" Natasha asks Ella cheekily. "Oh, right. We'll be seeing you soon enough. I know it." Ella blushes. "That's true, heroes. Do not forget to come say a final farewell to me as well before you leave my palace. I will be up in my study."

Heroica RPG - Quest #139: Around the World (West)
Zepher replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
The heroes are led by King Valentino to some sleeping corners, where they pass the night in their bedrolls, excluding Guts who ends the night with itchy red eyes, but otherwise totally safe. The next morning they meet the King and the Prince, who has a different wagon loaded up with supplies. "It will be a long trip. I have a general idea of where the ship may be, but we will have to walk along the coast for a number of miles to make sure we shall not miss it. If it is already snowing down here, the coasts up north are most likely already frozen. That will make progress slow. I have enough rations to feed the four of us for a fortnight." "Very wise." Daneeka turns to the heroes. "I ask you leave to remain in the city and scour the Prince's books, and learn of this land. Any further leads I can find on the Fountain would be good, and as you know I am useless when it comes to combat. I don't want you to feel abandoned, but it strikes me as the most prudent course of action." Daneeka stares down Guts. "Are you comfortable with this?" And, quieter: "will you have trouble with the Prince?" "Whenever you're ready!" calls out David as he fiddles with some supplies.- 603 replies

At my hand! You will be responsible for their deaths!" "No!" Victor's voice rings out. "You have lost the Right of the People. You know what your wagered upon issuing the challenge. The loser must go into exile. No more will Dastan allow its own people to weaken it through negligence. No. Not negligence, through their own maliciousness." Sven begins to walk away. Heroica RPG - Quest #139: Around the World (West)
Zepher replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I believe it is in a inhospitable part of Baltarok known as the Wastelands, far to the west. That is where most expeditions attempt to find it, at the very least." "The wreck is on the northern shores of our northern brothers, the Kingdom of the Four Boulders. It would require scouring the coast, but it should not be too difficult to find. It may take some time, but it would be well worth it - without the map, you will be doomed to wander the desert with those who have looked for the map before you, and many of those people are lost for eternity." "We will not have the assistance of one like Talligard in Baltarok. Our leads are not of the best sort. There are many towns in the area called the "Broken Tribes" that borders a great wastelands where the fountain is said to lie. Many of these towns, more outposts, sell supplies and advice, and many have maps for sale, as well as guides and adventurers. It seems likely, even with this lead, that the Fountain may prove the hardest relic to place physically. For the others we have a fair idea of where they may actually be - even the fact that the Fountain is in Baltarok is trusting very old tales." "Whatever your decision, you may rest here tonight and set out tomorrow."- 603 replies

Heroica RPG - Quest #136: The Sorcerer's Stone
Zepher replied to Purpearljellyblob's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Ready to rock and roll." -
Actually, re-reading Baltarok, Dyric brought Wren up right before the final battle. It's been nearly 3 years since Wren died, and I think she's brought up plenty, which makes me grateful. I'm also extremely happy whenever I host a bunch of old questees. So much shared history makes for crazy complex but informed party dynamics, and it only gets better over time. Thanks for sticking with me over all these years and making it a richer experience to host y'all each time.

"Please, Hybros." Guffington smiles meekly. "I feel you have known me long enough to realize I never shirk a good debate. Daneeka and I have always made greater strides butting heads than patting each other on the back. If I did not expect Heroes to challenge me, I probably wouldn't have invited them along at all." He plays with his mustache a little. "That being said, and despite my more care-free manner, I do think it is best we focus on the matter at hand. The artifacts can be discussed when this fight is over." "Mr. Abelsword, I know as little of you as you do of me, so I cannot blame you for your questioning of me and my attitude. I have seen more years than you, and have seen a great many wondrous things. Many things that were horrific too. When I was much younger, I was taught a phrase that has stayed with me for many years. 'It is either funny, or it is tragic'. And while I can't argue that the current moment is funny, I will impart this advice upon you as well." "I believe this 'Right of the People" would have happened, regardless of our arrival. Look at the man Sven, with a dagger still to the throat of one that he holds as inferior, simply because he is a different race. I did not come here with the intention of championing the U'Kin peoples, but I am not sorry your fellow dragoon has chosen that route! U'Or has been a trusted friend for many years - am I to support those who wish his people harm and oppression, even if I am a foreigner?" "So I relish the fact that we can be here to defend my friend's people from one who wishes to deny them rights." "When Wren came to a village I was an ambassador to, and asked for a tribute, and the people saw they could not stand against her, I was the tribute." Victor shrugs. "The only thing required for evil to triumph is for good men to stand aside." Right of the People Round Three-Five >Arthur drinks a Nostrum >Arthur drinks a Mead Arthur v.
