  1. Boomingham nods grudgingly at the mage. "Thank you, Nur. I wish that we could have double teamed him... when this is over, I'm coming back, and if he's still here, I'm fighting him until he either cuts my guts out or he's dead." Boomingham shoves his way through the other heroes and tries to look through the keyhole. "The last man we were supposed to talk to was inside his rug. These blokes might not be better off. Everyone stand back. Here's hoping this inn is as poorly built as they claim it is." Boomingham slams his shoulder into the door with the whole of his weight against it.
  2. "Coward?! A coward would have left you frozen. This is a gentlemen's bet! If I lose, I get to walk away and we get a rematch. If you lose, you explode. Seem fair?" "That's a very revealing mark, Nyx. Just 'cause I'm not officially part a' your merry band doesn't mean my life is worth any less. I'm here as a volunteer. You're here for gold."
  3. You're right, I actually didn't apply the final x2. Critcal hits for Barbarians are WPx3+Lvl. Then I should have multiplied that by two to for the mead, which I did, and multiplied that by two for the elemental damage, which I failed to do. Again, first battle will be rocky, I'll improve.
  4. Boomingham lumbers behind the other heroes quietly. Barty hovers around his head, in a more protective manner than normally.
  5. OoC: Right you are! Sorry, it has been a while since I hosted. Round 2 Bombs in the Market Battle Thothwick v. XX - Miss Hans v. Bombster B - Special Damage Tarn Valco v. Bomb A - Critical Hit Tarn Valco v. Bomb B - Damage William Harkenshire v. Mini Bomb B - Miss William Harkenshire v. Mini Bomb B - Damage Free Hits Bombster B v. Thothwich (-10) Thothwick charges at XX, who redirects his forward motion so that he flies past him. Hans raises his sword, but before he can do anything he is engulfed in flames. Tarn Valco rams his Helbaerend into Bomb A, decimating it's side as sparks fly from the weapon into the Bomb ((10x3+14)x2x2=176). The bomb starts to smoke, and Tarn must step back, afraid of being caught in it's now minor implosion. William Harkenshire tries desperately to load his crossbow, but XX walks up to him and punches him, hard enough to knock the wind out of him, but not hard enough to do any damage. While William collects himself, the first Mini Bomb explodes, showering all the heroes in flames, and dealing 5 damage to all people in the market. The second Bombster takes advantage of this moment to slash at Thothwick, doing an additional 10 damage. Luckily for the heroes, their resident Witch and Battle Mage appears in the smoke, Chicken perched atop one of their heads. Hans takes two damage from his burns. There is an ominous click as all the bombs' dials fall once more. Enemies - Bomb’s dials decrease by 1 at the end of each round. When bomb's dials reach 0, they explode. 6. 1. You know them, I think... 2. Nothing what so ever! 3. Once I claimed to not be a werewolf. It didn't go over well.
  7. Round Nine is says I tried to heal myself, but took damage. The damage I took was 14. It should have been less if I was in the back row healing myself, yes? I'm sorry, not trying to be difficult, just trying to work it out. Anyway, I don't even know if it matters, you can precede to Round 10 as it is, if you so choose! Sorry, just figured it out. You wrote "heals/free hit" when you meant to write that I attacked, I think. Sorry. Yes, go to Round 10 with me healing myself, thank you!
  8. No, I know, you did it correctly, only Round Nine I would have been back-rowing it, and I don't know if you had me in the back-row or front-row.
  9. OoC: I don't know if you remembered (or if it makes a difference) but for Round Nine, I would have healed myself in the back row. "Dear Ennoc, that stings..." Boomingham leans against the wall. "Just a moment, if you don't mind. I just need to detox, you know." Boomingham heaves and pukes on the floorboards. "Someone clean that up, alright? Barty, want to try to heal me up again?" If I'm healed, I'll continue with the King of the Desert from the front row.
  10. Thank you for that assumption, I actually forgot I had a choice in the matter and thought I might be playing a little closer to the edge than I did. Boomingham retreats to the back row and attempts to heal himself until he is successful or KO'd. Once he is back to full health, he charges back to the front row and wails on Natnail until he falls under 10 health again.
  11. OoC: Would it be okay to play multiple rounds one after another, or do you not want to do that? If so, allow me to go through all the following actions (free hits will go between each of them, I know. If not, I'll just do these over the next few posts . It's a lot of actions. I'm hoping Boomy will win. Boomingham shakes his head sadly. "I need a drink," he mumbles before reaching into his knapsack and retrieving a nostrum, which he mistakes for mead and downs. He then tosses it aside, smacks his lips, and reaches into his knapsack, downing his Grand Potion. He belches impressively. "Now, then..." Boomingham then attacks his opponent with his King of the Desert from the front row.
  12. Barty buzzes around nervously. Boomingham sloppily tries to swat at him. "What have you done?" "I'm saving a fair maiden. I thought you'd be proud of me," Boomingham wheezes. His eyes droop. "Oh well, here we go." Boomingham swings from the front row with his Frozen Saber.
  13. Boomingham is conflicted. An orc... well, they're supposed to rot. A human conducting themselves poorly, particularly towards a lady, of any race... the alcohol is still pulsing through Boomingham's veins. Boomingham's hand flies with surprising agility to his sword, and he both unsheathes it and rams the butt of it into the man's nose in one clean motion. (unless, of course the man blocks it...)
  14. Boomingham peeks his head into the room to try to see the lady inside. "Were you having a little bit of an issue with this little gal? Maybe we should take her off your hands."
  15. "We could cover more ground. Many hands make light work," Boomingham suggests before walking over to the second door and banging loudly. "Hello in there! We have free drinks for Doctor Jiivni!! Is he in there?! Hello!!!"
  16. You're going to enjoy reading it when it's time, I think/hope. Lots of your old buddies are floating around! And thanks for the heads up, RPGer! Panick, hope I picked a satisfactory action!
  17. Boomingham stumbles over. He still is overly careful as not to make eye contact with the Ogre. "Are we done here? I doubt they know anything. Let's go see who we're here to see." Boomingham turns to the werehounds. "Pleasssse go tell your, erm, distinguisheshed guests that Boomingham, erm, no, that a group are here to see them. The Lucky Toids or whatever they may be, them. Tell them that Lord Boomingham would like to have a word with them, and tell them no funny business!" Boomingham leans on Haldor and Nur for support and rubs his forehead. "I'll be at the bar," he says before staggering back to it.
  18. I believe it's been more than enough time for VolcanicPanick, and since I (think I) know the smartest action would be, since I designed the battle and all, I'll help you guys out. Round 1 Bombs in the Market Battle Tarn Valco - Takes Mead/Smelling Salts Tarn Valco v. Mini Bomb A - Special Damage (Hit) Hans v. Bombster A - Critical Hit Thothwick v. XX - Critical Hit William Harkenshire v. Mini Bomb B - Hit Free Hits Bombster B v. Tarn Valco (-10) Tarn Valco downs his mead and smelling salts and after a start, he attacks Mini Bomb A, dealing more than enough damage to render it useless. Hans sees that the Bombsters prepare to double team Tarn, and so draws one of them off by slashing at him. Blood trickles down the Bombster's arm (25x2+15=65). Thothwick throws his shuriken, which XX seems to laugh off as it skims his shoulder (5x2+14=24). William Harkenshire uses his Hand Cannon on the second mini bomb. The bomb seems to be dented by the impact. (16x2=32). Bombster B makes his way successfully to Tarn Valco and spews flames at his face. Tarn spins away in pain, his face seared. Enemies - Bomb’s dials decrease by 1 at the end of each round. When bomb's dials reach 0, they explode. 19. And forgive me, I failed to label Bombs A/B. They are fixed now!
  20. "Thank you, darling," Boomingham beams, and then leans in and whispers: "If Haldor wasn't here I'd give you a nice sloppy thank you kiss." He winks at the elf and saunters off. Barty turns on her. "Don't encourage him," he admonishes before darting after his ever hopeless case. Boomingham hands the gold off. "I was hoping to slip some of this into my own pocket, but if fifty gold is what you need, fifty gold is what you get. My name is King Lawrence Boomingham, General during the Orcish Wars, decorated for bravery on three separate occasions." Boomingham leans in and hisses. "So don't cross me." He then roars laughter in poor Roland's ear and sags back into his bar chair. "Just joking, you seem like a nice enough chap. Send the funds to Heroica hall, I'm sure there are plenty of people there who will look after them for me if I'm not back in time."
  21. Boomingham examines his own measly coin purse, and then walks over to Jess, who has an astoundingly larger amount of money than him. He holds up a hand to the occupants of the table, and is careful not to make eye contact with the ogre. "Say, Jess, do you want to do me a favor? Could I bury fifty gold until the end of the quest? I'll pay it right on back to you as soon as the reward money trickles in." Boomingham quietly hopes that will be enough. He calls back to Roland. "How much were you thinking, chappo?"
  22. "You seem to have a smart head on your shoulders, Roland. Can you tell me a thing or two about Lucustoids? 'Fraid I haven't run into them yet in my travels."
  23. And we're just getting started!! I'm equally excited. Reading the other Dastan quests has already been exciting. I won't tell you how carefully we planned together - I think that will become apparent over time, but I can say that a number of NPCs have already surprised me by existing . I'm excited to read along.
  24. Hehe. Wouldn't be a Wren Quest without it! I hope that those not reading the other quests Dastan are both confused and interested right now. They'll have so much to catch up on when they're done, and it will the suspense will be so nicely built up.
  25. The heroes split up. Nyx and Atramor walk down the dark passageway as the other heroes make their way onto the surrounding roofs. William has to leave his pony behind. Nikolai's speech begins. "The Dastan Empire has always stood strong. Today, I have come to you to assure you that that strength will remain for years to come. The rumors you may have heard are true, I will not deny them. The Lion Knights have landed on our shores, and they do plan to defeat us in combat. But do not fear, citizens. You have three Emperors, united, prepared to defend you. To my right stands a noble Dragon Knight. The Dragon Knights have fought- Nikolai freezes. The heroes try to bolt down to him. They cannot move. The entire crowd is frozen. The heroes' hearts race. Their muscles do not budge. There is a sudden deafening crack. "Oh my, all these people, just for me?" Wren giggles. "You should have... you know what? I hate hogging the stage. I'd like to invite up one of my dearest friends... XX, come up here, would you?" "Certainly." A man with bulging muscles waltzes forward, literally pushing the frozen crowd aside. Behind him he drags a huge glass ball. Colors and mists and liquids swirl and splash around inside of it. The heroes recognize him instantly from the slips of paper they were handed the previous day. His orb's function is also clear to the heroes - it is a magical explosive. Behind him come two other men, each lugging two more bombs. The heroes can only watch horrified as they set them up around the marketplace. Wren's voice rings out in a place that it is all too comfortable. The normal gentle and high pitched pierce that sends a shiver down their spines appears in the heroes' heads. "Hello heroes. Thothy, my dear, they just keep sending me such lovely old friends to play with. And Tarn of Valco... hello. Forgive me, you seem boring, I won't talk to you. Mr. Harkenshire, we'll see about you as well. Thothy, you didn't pick very nice friends to play with. Hans, of course, dull and persistent as always. Lovely to see you here. Is Felton feeling under the weather... oh, and Thothy, honey, you've gone and locked your two most interesting friends out. Oh dear, good luck without them. Oh, here I am rambling... let's get to business, shall we?" "XX will know that you're coming. He's a reasonable man. I'll let him fill you in on himself when I'm done here. He likes a good challenge. He really just loves his work. He's a joy to watch. Anyway, here's what's happening. This explosion will decimate the marketplace, and sour the public opinion of the Empire. I know, I know, we're the ones blowing it up, but there are only a small number of assassins, and where was the Empire when it should have been defending its people? And of course Nikolai will be dead as Draco." "But I've decided, and XX has agreed, to give you a fighting chance. When I leave, you four lovelies will be unfrozen. The bombs are on timers. You must disarm 3 of the 5 to save the marketplace and Nikolai. Good luck, my doves." "You've get everything covered here?" "Yessir! Are your friends around? "Yes." "Fantastic! Let me do a quick little intro! Name is XX, I love explosives. I work for money, so if you folks and I both end up alive at the end of this whole shindig, you should look me up sometime. And before you try to dig deeper, that's all I work for. I don't give a rat's megablocks about who rules what. Wren has given us this lovely opportunity to go macho-de-macho. You folks ready?" "Good luck." "Don't need it, but thanks all the same!" "I wasn't talking to you." Wren leaves, and the heroes become unfrozen. They rush down to face XX, who grins at them. "Le's get to it, then!"
