Vipera flies up to Skrall's shoulder. <They remain watching the spires, but they have not reported anything strange yet. There is a very good chance Wren does not know of the spires there, so we can hope that they will never have anything to report.> Felton turns. "For now, we wait. We cannot figure out where the next few spires are, these notes are skimpy at best. I believe Byblos, or whomever wrote these, purposely made the locations difficult to discern so that those who meant to do harm could not find them. I have suggested that we wait for Wren's next move and try to stop her there.

I liked Haldor! I liked that whole party, actually. Characters change over time, it's true. A fun thing to do, however, is to read back over previous quests and steal the parts that still work for the character. That way it looks like they've changed, not become a new person.

Ellaria and I will masquerade as sellers of scrap metal, and Harkenshire will pretend to be a buyer of scrap metal. That way if this employer is selling the stuff he gets from Spad, he'll come to us, and if he's buying, he'll also come to us. Sound like a plan?" -

At the other Spire, Arthur examines the crown, but finds nothing unusual about it. He also holds his magnifying glass up to the walls, and sees Chaos squirming around behind them very faintly. Perhaps this Chaos is the reason for some of the prays in the temple being answered, and some not. Luck is, after all, very much reliant of chaos. Skrall leads the party back to the Hovels City Watch barrack Felton and the Gray Wizard pour over more tomes, and Johnny Everyman sits in a corner. Bennetton scowls at him good naturedly. When the heroes arrive, Johnny jumps up. "Shhhh, be quiet, they're studying." Everyman's sarcastic tone shows his thoughts on that venture. "Guess you guys did pretty well, am I right? Bennetton clears his throat, and Everyman rolls his eyes and chuckles. "Fine, fine, Alexis, this came for you. I like your taste in books. I've been trying to get my hands on one of those for a good long time, so, ya know, if ya don't want it... I've got friends on the Black Market." Everyman slips Alexis her book quietly. "Gnash, we got the normal haul." Everyman laughs again, and the Gray Wizard shushes him. He continues in hushed tones. "The City Watch here, under Bennetton, only gets socks every year. Probably because they barely make the nice list." "It's all I ever ask for because it's all we ever need. Besides, I'd probably make it onto the nice list if I put you in jail from time to time, or better, let you hang. Was just rereading the opening of Quest 30. 30 and 19 both had great parties, I'm glad so many of both returned. It's interesting that the parties, divided, have 3 of the 4 Haddon folk on the Quest in the Shrine Party, and 3 of the 3 Dastan people in the other party. Cool dynamics and role-play, I love Haldor and Dyric and Skrall's poking fun at each other. EDIT: Re-reading some pinnacle scenes in Quest 30 right now. The hospital scene after losing U'Stus had some awesome role-playing from the heroes, and Nyx, Tarn and Poletad are still one of my favorite couplings when they went to save Mallelio, some real great stuff there. Just a reminder to re-read old quests from time to time... because some of you guys write really awesome stuff that deserves re-readings. That's my favorite part usage. It's that villain from Star Wars... whatever her name is... really skinny and creepy... well it's that head turned around. I love it. There was one found in Dastan as well. Sadly, I only have one of those heads, so there can only be one at a time. Perhaps they'll pop up in later quests. They do have some weird stuff that will be explored a bit in this quest - they've already explained they have semi-collective memory, and can survive for years without food/water by retreating into that collective memory. They're an all female race like the norns, and no one knows how they reproduce. They're actually somewhat like the norns, and I think they were conceptualized by Sandy and myself at about the same time. I will also have to develop Daneeka's race eventually. Guffington quests will probably feature lots of weird races because he's a weird guy.
