  1. Hex is good. Special Mirror makes it so that damage is the only solely "bad" roll for a witch. Because of that, the witches rolls are all a little underpowered... but the chance of getting a roll that somehow benefits the witch is 5/6. That's pretty good odds, and considering the fact that they ALL lend themselves to strategy (piling on a hexed enemy is an excellent strategy, and picking who to target for special mirror/poison adds strategy) I maintain that witch as is is pretty damn powerful and one of the most fun classes in the game. That being said, there are ALWAYs scenarios that some classes aren't good in. Witches aren't great against big groups of enemies... but that's just not something witches are good at. That's why we pick different classes.

  4. I don't recall saying that, but if I did, that was misleading and untrue. Perma-KO is Perma-KO. The heroes may still TALK, but they will not be in combat. That might be what is confusing you. You're telling me brother. SP nerfing for free hits is essential for balancing. Trust a QM, it was a necessary and genius change. Sandy, I don't think I've ever commended you enough for that solution. It's really perfect. SP still applies for normal damage and the first bout of free hits, so it's really still useful, but makes balancing possible. I tried desperately to figure out how to give it as a drop this quest. I promise you, SOME future quest will have them, they're a really great item, lots of fun, really useful, and beautifully pictured. I think someone should become a genie wizard. You know, it's funny, because hosting you has made me way more certain that Mystic Knight is a class I would pursue and play as.

Though the NPC index is getting very large, and I'm afraid the hyper-links in the first post are going to get to be too much... anyway, point is, a handbook would be fine in a topic. It shouldn't be too large either, or else what's the fun in that? Let people learn through playing. Good intro quests should always be hosted, and that will certainly teach people the mechanics they need to know. The Awards are something I'd like to help with too. I really did pitch them to Sandy. I can't recall her specific response, but it was something that essentially meant wait on it. But what y'all are proposing are essentially what I had in mind. A voting process for "best quest, best NPC, best roleplay, favorite moments, etc." I'd still love to see them and have a hand in them if possible.

  13. It's funny you say that. I went over the free hit calculations like five times last night before posting them, because I thought they looked fishy (and radically different than you predicted) but couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong. But that would do it! Fixed!
  14. No. People who flee may not return to combat. That would make fleeing basically a "never die" ability. I'm letting you use your once in a life time QM life-line right here and now and giving you some advice. Smelling salts are a blessing, especially with the mulled wine. Smelling salts will let you MUCH more easily control who takes which free hit. You also have two healers, one of whom counterstrikes. And if worse comes to worse and you need another ally... I hear Pogs are particularly scared of genies...

  25. Triad is a whirl, her single blade spinning out into her shuriken which she used as a shield, and then twisting it back to a blade, cutting and moving through the Pongcanis. When Atramor reaches the stairs he sees another Pongcanis coming up them, somehow bigger than the others, his fur more ratty, burns here and there. Before Atramor can act, he feels a hand on his shoulder. He spins around and there, splattered with purple blood and red blood, stands Triad, tall, strong, solemn. "We advise you go out the window," says Triad. Atramor doesn't have a chance to respond. Triad, with the strength of an Acerpusculum, with the strength of a whole ancient race, hauls him to the window. "We know you are good, Atramor. As long as good stays strong and fights-" she fends off a Pongcanis. "-evil, evil will never win. As long as one person defends one other person-" she cuts off a Pongcanis' hand, "we will die happy. We die proud of our life, Atramor. That is the only goal we have. To die proud of ourself for ourself." She tosses him out the thin slit of a window. He finds himself balanced on a gargoyle, also used as a spout for the gutter. Below him is another, and below that a ledge... the climb down is long, but he can (and must) climb fast. He spins back to look through the window. The huge Pongcanis bursts into the room as Triad sinks her blade into the stomach of one of his fellows. The Pongcanis falls she struck falls and takes the blade with it. The new Pongcanis laughs a deep guttural laugh at her. "You are one of the heroes? I've met you heroes before. You are weak. Pathetic. You have no honor." "No, Pongcanis. You have no honor. Give us our blade, and we will gut you." The Pongcanis slams her down into the wall. "I fight those who challenge me. You will die, and then to be sure you're dead, my men will eat you, and we'll snap that blade of your's, and we'll shit out your remains. We will have the honor of killing an Acerpusculum. But if you want to fight..." The Pongcanis raises his huge blade before kicking over her thin one. It skitters next to her... too far to reach. Triad sits stock still. "You will never have honor. We look down on you. We do not pity you. You do not deserve that. You will die a pathetic being, and you will know that-" The Pongcanis brings his blade down and splits Triad clean in half. Sticky purple liquid bursts forth and covers his blade and face. He licks it and growls with pleasure. Atramor begins his descent quickly.
