  1. Nope! Not all NPCs have perma-death either. I don't recall ever saying they did. Yup, totally just misspelled. Yes, it has been added, my apologies I only read Alexis' loot break down when updating. I can't tell you that. There are some things that you just don't know, and that is one of them. I mean, they don't have the Veteran's protection, but in this quest (as in every quest) not EVERY NPC suffers from perma-death. Yes. To be perma-lucky (which some of my foes have been in the past) it would have to be due to a passive special (think artifact v. drinking a nostrum). The neutralizer would function as normal. I did now, yes. That's none of your bee's wax.
  2. Boomingham's head stops spinning and he finds himself on the ground with Karie on top of him. He slides her off him relatively gently, letting her come to a rest on the ground. "Swore I hit the damn tentacle, couldn't figure out what was hitting me but of course it was another hero," he grumbles staggering to his feet. He looks at the severely injured tentacles. "Good work," he huffs to everyone in general, unsure who had injured them so grievously. "Chuck a bomb at them, would be worth it for the two birds with one stone sort of deal. Besides, I've got to give a shot at healing myself." He steps back and Barty pops into existence.
  3. That's always been my complaint with quests. I personally am also more "story geared". I feel that my battles this quest have gotten shorter in general though, there are just quite a few of them.
  4. "I'm sorry you were involved in this mess at all. It is an embarrassment." He looks at the downed bodies of his comrades. "And a tragedy too. It still shocks me that the decisions of one bad men can get good men killed. I see great selfishness sometimes." He goes to unlock the door. But, upon inserting the key into the keyhole, he finds it is impossible to turn. The heroes watch with horror as he pulls the key out and, from the keyhole, a stream of blood pours out. They turn around to see the swaying Avery. Blood bubbles through the stones around her. "The Red Death does not discriminate," she whispers through her trance. Her eyes stay locked ahead. "Fight for your lives." The blood itself wells up and lunges at the heroes! 5. I have given both my Cannoneer NPCs an ability that allows for that. Though, having been the only person to play Cannoneer so far (I think) and albeit as an NPC, I can tell you that it's a fun and POWERFUL class. Also important to note, while the archmage and cannoneer may seem similar there is a distinct difference (one I'm not sure has been properly brought up) - the weapon effects can also be "bombarded" which no other class can do. For example, if Erdy went cannoneer 4 of her rolls would allow for the cursed and poisoned by 7 effect to be transferred to ALL enemies, which is pretty powerful and something an archmage can't pull off.
  6. "Oh holy Hels!" cries Bobby as a man a few tables over from him becomes a giant frickin' monster out of no where. He dives under the table.
  7. OoC: Yeah we seem to be losing steam all of a sudden! Hopefully it's just the end of the summer/transition back into the school/work year and things will pick back up once everything has settled down! Also, if this (or any) battle ever seems a little slow, remember I usually build battles with the assumption that every hero will take about one consumable. They're still (obviously as this one proves) winnable without that, but they may help to speed things up if you ever feel bogged down! The Second Cult Goes to Battle Round Eight > Nerwen v. Thistlethorp - Hit (30+14-2=42 Damage) >Midge v. Avery - Special Damage (Doomed) Ruffers & Pigley v. Thistlethorp - Critical Hit (([16*2]+19+4)*2=110, Blinded) Ruffers & Pigley v. Avery - Special Damage (Doomed) Bert v. Thistlethorp - Shield (Protected from Damage, Thistlethorp KO'd) Samuel v. Alexis - Heal Alexis v. Avery - Fan Blessed heroes regain 3 health The heroes deal some damage to Thistlethorp, but it is, perhaps fittingly, Bert who deals the final blow, driving his halberd deep into the Necromancer's chest. It is a grisly and sudden death. "Oh dear," he whimpers, looking down, and then the life fades from his eyes. Bert may say something about avenging his fallen comrades, but he really just looks sick. The heroes turn to Avery, but she just sways where she stood, pouring blood from just about everywhere still, though it has slowed a little. Her dead eyes are glazed over, a look that may be boredom, sheer fear, or some internal struggle. She looks harmless for the moment, however, and the heroes consider the battle won! 8. OoC: With situations like that, I generally just give it to the players. I'm still learning the ropes with Chi Monk, thank you for the heads up! That makes sense, but I must have skimmed it as soon as I started reading about the elemental bit, having read about mages so many times. "The Order Imperial are fools. We cannot learn from our past if we leave it buried. And if we can't learn from our past, how the Hel are we going to get stronger?" She smiles. "People like that piss me off, you know?"
  9. "Imagine if I'd cut you down when I wanted to. Then we would not be facing them now," says Boomingham - for once not a merry threat, but rather just a stern reminder of what could have been. "They do not belong on Olegaia. Destroying them will be a start."
  10. Boomingham swings at the left Harvester from the front row. He turns to Masson as he swings his sword. "What have you done?!" he demands, having apparently totally missed Masson and Karie's quiet conversation earlier. "You see now we don't let the past go unpunished." OoC: I didn't mean to have Chains of the Pongcanis Chief equipped for this quest. I removed them from my person the previous quest, and forgot to re-edit my stats. Did you take them into account ever last fight? Or can I ask for them to be removed. I should have been paying better attention. If you took them into account last fight I feel that they should remain on, but if not I ask you to be lenient (but of course you're the QM!). If they are removed, I attack from the back row.

  15. Boomingham doesn't respond to the tentacle'd monster as he rambles on and on, though Barty does appear at his shoulder and stare down the beast. Only with the bout of violence does Boomingham spring into action. He rushes to his downed friend. One of his eyes is missing. "It looks good on you," says Boomingham calmly as he heals his friend as best as he can. Barty darts through the air nervously. After the healing is done, Boomingham stands up. "Look, Severus, I was going to say I don't really have that much beef with you seeing as I have no idea who the Hel you are or what the Hel you are, I assume you're one of the mindless servants the mindless Regret was mumbling about before, but now I do have beef with you. Em is a pretty good chap and what's more I like him a lot and I'm sure he was fond of his eyes. So, you've done enough that I'll kill you." Boomingham drinks a mead. "Johon, Punii, Erdy, automaton, you ready? Because I'm prepared to kill this chappo."
  16. Sandy, I believe you occasionally list them as "NOTE:" at the end of a character's explanation.
  17. OoC: at work so I can't post a round yet (a few hours from now I'll be home!) but yes he'll still count as targetted if targetted! He just won't recover damage.
  18. I feel any complaints about Karie in 105 should be leveled at Boomingham as well. Only fair. As for cut scenes, I understand where you guys are coming from and I agree with you, but if that's how a person enjoys playing the game I think they should absolutely play it that way. I for think it's any more fair for us to limit them than it is for them to limit us.
  19. OoC: Chrome, if you'd be so kind as to post a BO and actions for the others, I'd greatly appreciate it! Just in case they don't get a chance to post by the time I can next update, I'd hate to go another day without updating the quest.
  20. "Who's exempt?" Boomingham shrugs. "I'm not sinless. You may judge me as you see fit. If you feel the need to raise a weapon against me, I invite it. I'm sure you will, before all is said and done, and I'm not saying you shouldn't, either!" "Erdy, I'm of a similar mind. Everyone says that the Regret can't die, but how many people have really killed him so far and not seen it work." Boomingham laughs. "He'll fall the same as you and me, I imagine."
  21. "I haven't stabbed you yet, Stealer, so yes, we'll stay away from each other's throats until the Regret's dead." Boomingham turns to the blue specter. "I hear a lot of people fearing the Regret. You, the little Progg, some of my fellow heroes. And yes, I understand he's an impossibility - though me and the Gods don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, namely if they're around or not - but I believe you when you say he's powerful and he must be stopped. The Lifespark, whatever that is, sounds like something we don't want a bad chap eating. So I swear to you, though I don't know I like you and it's not for you, just a swear to you: he won't come out alive. I don't like him. I think he's bad. I think he will cause others harm, others who have not earned harm, so for their sake, he won't leave that citadel of his." "Dearest darling of mine, I am only saying some words. It is actions that count. I think you'll note that I have yet to draw my sword at him, and I assure you I very badly want to." Boomingham chortles. "Credit where credit is due and all that." "I don't hate. But I don't forget either. I see evil, and I stop it. That's not hate. That's just making a choice and acting on it."
  22. OoC: Yes, sorry, corrected myself. I made an assumption on the wording. And no, no Edgar. I swear I want him to appear as badly as you do. Maybe I'll host a side-quest for him taking place within his book.
  23. Passives oddly have no way of being blocked, which is actually pretty cool and nice as long as we don't abuse them. It also makes sense as far as the mirror image of the heroes goes: if your weapon deals poisoned by 15, sealed would not stop that. In the same way, a passive special might make an enemy deal poisoned by 15 on free hits/damaged, and sealed will not prevent it.
  24. OoC: I pinky promise I will never get better at running battles, so at least you guys don't have me as my "worst" just my "average". I guess I just don't have the memory for it. I've even been running it correctly for the last month in the other quest I'm hosting. Needless to say, you're down to one foe! EDIT: Sorry, assumed you had done the math and that walloped and incinerated meant totally destroyed. The Angel remains, but badly injured.
  25. "If you want to work as a ghost to make your amends, I won't stop you. Hel, I'll gladly help you start," says Boomingham with a leer. He turns to Karie before she can tell him to cut it out. "If the Stealer gets to make quips, so do I. Tell him to keep his mouth shut, if anyone." "And I wasn't so much wondering about ghosts around here. Or ghosts at all. Just the spirits of the departed. But I guess some things are never easy." He smiles tiredly. "So be it. And I told you, you have my pardon, if that's what you'll call it. What's done is done. You're dead. You've paid for your crimes. Now you move forward and we move forward also." "Necessity doesn't make something more or less good. You do what you need to do to survive, sure, but the context means diddly. It's there, but you kill someone, you kill someone. That's the fact of the matter." "I'll assume you mean other than that nasty looking front door." Boomingham grins and chuckles. "Sometimes I forget you've got a head on those shoulders. It's good to be questing with you again, Em. Don't know if I said it yet, but it is." Boomingham looks at Johon. "I'm with you and I'm with him - these chaps did something bad, but nows not the time. We set it aside. And they are already dead." "I've got to agree with my darling here. If this whole things already wrapped up with a bow, shouldn't we just let him at it? It seems more fitting than anything that he die by his own actions."
