Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis: Discussion
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Of course I had to forget an important thing from the rules. I guess I just took it for granted that nobody would do it... You must not publicly quote my private messages! It's considered cheating and doing it makes this whole game pointless. Kadabra, I'm looking at you. You're lucky there was nothing in the quotes that could confirm anyone's alignment one way or another. I can't control what you PM to each other, but I'd expect at least some moral standards when it comes to playing fair. Seriously, I did not spend all this time on this game just so it could be ruined by cheaters... -
"Just remember to list the spirits available to you, with the one you prefer to summon automatically listed first!" Copper Fox shouted after the automaton.

No. The Scroll of Sleep only inflicts the asleep-effect, so imbuing it grants immunity to only that effect.

DAY FIVE ~ HASTY DECISIONS Scheherazade wasn't surprised to find another corpse from the main hall when she awoke. She began her day by moving the body of Jeddam Ashenbow to the cellar to be investigated by the Veterans and mopping up her blood. "Another innocent hero's blood soaks these tiles." Suddenly she heard a spine-chilling shriek and footsteps running towards her. She spun around to see her son at the verge of tears. "Mother! You can't believe what they did now!" "Sham, what's the matter? Are you hurt?" "Not me, but my stuff! Those bastards managed to break into my enchanted backbag! Most of the items inside were smashed to pieces! Just think of all the potential income I lost - just like that!" "Sham, you're hopeless! Get out of my sight or I'll make you finish this mopping!" "Eep!" The Veterans then gathered all the surviving heroes into the hall for an important announcement. A disgusting stench filled the room, as Sheherazade descended the stairs carrying a tray-full of steaming cups. "May I have your attention, please! We fear that time is not on our side, so Scheherazade will be serving some special drinks for you today. Everyone must drink, make no mistake about that. These drinks will make you quicker, allowing you to take two actions each day and night from now on. However, the two actions must be different from each other, so you cannot take the same action twice in one phase. You also have to perform them at the same time. If I've made myself clear, please drink up!" The heroes had no choice but to obey. As they gulped down the smelly liquid, the Dragonlord spoke once again. "That's right, no more slacking around! From here-on out, if you don't state an action every day and night, I'll feed you to Smaragdea without a warning!" The heroes were then called to the Library once more. It was a lot messier now, with piles of books all over the room. "Sorry about the disorder! I was so busy last night that I would have probably passed out if I didn't have my secret stash of *cough* bananas. I did find an interesting passage from the Annals of Ennon, but its been tampered with magic as well. What's wrong with these books of mine nowadays...?" ***** BYBLOS THE LIBRARIAN'S CHALLENGE #4: Fit the words from the list to the sentence below. Send your answer to the host. You only have one try. angels bottom continent creator cultists demons Elven Ennon x2 evil forces Free guardian hordes immortal Islands kingdom Mercution x2 Moon Moone Nephilim x2 ocean paladins priests war wizard RULES: 1. ALIGNMENTS: There are two sides in this game, trying to beat each other. Heroica wins if they manage to find and kill all of the Nephilim. The Nephilim win if they outnumber the heroes loyal to Heroica. The Nephilim know each other, but the others don’t know who the Nephilim are. There are also neutral players, who have their own special victory conditions. 2. PHASES: The game is played in two alternating phases - "Days" and "Nights", both lasting up to 48 hours - during which the players can use their abilities on each other. All players can use two abilities per phase, but the abilities must be different from one another. During the Night-phase, the game is played through Private Messages between the host and the players, and all actions are private, revealed only to the target. During the Day-phase, all actions are public, and are shown in the Day-topic to everyone. Ranged attacks and spells are an exception, their performer is never revealed. You must send both of your actions at the same time, as you only have one turn per phase. If you fail to send in an action or do not state that you do nothing, you will be killed off. 3. RESULTS: The results of the abilities are tallied at the beginning (for Night-actions) and the end (for Day-actions) of the Day-phase. When a player’s health is completely depleted, they are killed off from the game. The player who delivered the killing blow will get all of the victim’s gold and items, and gain experience (see Leveling Up). The alignment of each killed player is revealed when they die. Anyone who kills a Nephilim will gain 50 extra gold from the Veterans. 4. STATISTICS: Level signifies the player character’s overall experience. Health is initially equal to level, and attacks reduce it while healing restores it. Ether is equal to about a half of the level, and is used for spellcasting, healing and scroll-reading.Defenseis gained from shields and most artefacts, and it reduces the damage taken. WP means weapon power, while SP means shield power. All statistics except Level are kept a secret from other players. 5. ABILITIES: All player characters have their own sets of 3-6 abilities they can use during the game, related to their job classes. These skills include (but are not limited to) attacks, spellcasting, healing, tracking, stealing items, blocking, buffing, debilitating and using items. To best make use of these varied skills, the players should consider forming alliances. 6. ITEMS: All players start out with 10 gold, a weapon with 2-6 WP and a random array of other items, such as restorative potions, artefacts and tools. Like the statistics, these inventories are kept as a secret from other players. During the Day-phases of the game, upgrades and more items can be bought from Sham Poo in exchange for gold. You are free to discard items or trade them with other players, but you need to notify the host whenever you do that. 7. LEVELING UP: Gaining a level increases the player character’s current and maximum health and ether by 1. When a player kills another player, they will gain experience according to this chart: - Level 1-9: a full level - Level 10-19: 1/2 of a level - Level 20-29: 1/3 of a level - Level 30-39: 1/4 of a level - Level 40 onwards: 1/5 of a level 8. ELEMENTS & EFFECTS: There are five elements in the game: fire, ice, lighting, light and darkness. Elemental spells and attacks are twice as effective as normal attacks, but consume ether. They can also be blocked with the right piece of equipment. There are both positive and negative effects in the game as well, including encouraged, enforced, stunned, poison, sleep, blinded, sealed, confused and enamored. These can be inflicted by certain abilities and scrolls. Negative effects last until removed by a Remedy or a suitable ability. 9. BEHAVIOR: When you play this game, you are bound by honor to your alignment – even if it changes mid-game. That is why you must not discuss the game outside of the topics and PMs related to it, under the threat that you are instantly killed off if you do. Sharing information via PMs and forming alliances between the players is allowed, but must be done by knowing the risk that the other might be lying or deceiving you. Things will get brutal and cut-throat in this game, and you can get killed off at any time, but any of that is not to be taken as a personal insult. Please post in-character at all times to ensure that your player persona is separated from your real self. Remember that the dead don't talk, so once you are out of the game, you must not speak of what you know to anyone until the whole game is over. You are free to roleplay with your character, and most of all, have fun!PLAYER CHARACTERS: Brienne Deercourt (Brickdoctor) ~ 29 years old female human Paladin Capriccia Gianpaolo (Capt.JohnPaul) ~ 123 years old female vampire Cleric Corelin Moordog (CorneliusMurdock) ~ 282 years old female dwarf Warden Cromeo Nightingale (Chromeknight) ~ 22 years old male half-elf Harlot Ein Surefoot (Esurient) ~ 397 years old male dwarf Cleric Emmanuelle Janus (emjajoas) ~ 33 years old female human Knight Fleyra (Flare) ~ 29 years old female Rito Winged Warrior Geosmos Phiephyrphoe (joeshmoe554) ~ 52 years old male cyclops Infiltrator Heron Jujube (herrJJ) ~ 19 years old male human Cleric (killed on Night One, raised as an undead on Night Two but perished again on Day Three, then resurrected on Day Four) Jinnipher Buchaire (JimButcher) ~ 71 years old female elf Knight Kharybdis (Kadabra) ~ 26 years old female Octopial Beast Warrior Lorth-Anoob (LordoftheNoobs) ~ 42 years old female Pantanan Witch Luridan Voros (Lord Duvors) ~ 53 years old male gremlin Alchemist O’Blix (-obelix-) ~ 27 years old male goblin Regulator Pallas Thaddicus (Palathadric) ~ 103 years old male Lucustoid Druid Panduin Oreheart (Pandora) ~ 148 years old male dwarf Barbarian Percival Montmartre (Peppermint_M) ~ 24 years old male human Ranger Piro the Visionary (Pyrovisionary) ~ 227 years old male wereturtle Battle Mage (killed on Day Two but resurrected on Day Three) Sir Rubinstein (Rumble Strike) ~ 47 years old male human Skirmisher Scamander Taurros (Scubacarrot) ~ 34 years old male satyr Minstrel Swinehurst (swils) ~ 31 years old male porc Berserker Theodor Legion (The Legonater) ~ 73 years old male human Cannoneer Usharnam Madima (UsernameMDM) ~ 38 years old male Naga Chi Monk Werther Brickton (Waterbrick Down) ~ 49 years old male zombie Assassin Weyrdág (Wedge09) ~ 341 years old female Nôrn Hunter Zarissa Curie (Zakura) ~ 58 years old female gnome Sage Zelphie (Zepher) ~ 815 years old female fairy Artisan Zpilf (Flipz) ~ 85 years old male ogre Black Knight DEAD CHARACTERS: Kob (Kintobor) ~ 21 years old male orc Mage ~ Heroica (killed on Day One, raised as an undead on Night One but perished again on Day Three) Pauline Jillian Boyle (Purpearljellyblob) ~ 18 years old female Mopag Mage ~ Heroica (killed on Day One) Eris (Eric Su) ~ 26 years old female orc Sorcerer ~ Heroica (killed on Day Two) Ezeal (Etzel) ~ 28 years old male werelion Barbarian ~ Nephilim (killed on Day Two) Skrupp Oxstrong (Scorpiox) ~ 30 years old male norseman Raider ~ Heroica (killed on Day Two) U’dargan (Darkdragon) ~ 29 years old male U’kin Dragoon ~ Heroica (killed on Day Two) Calico Meatpie (CallMePie) ~ 16 years old female halfling Rogue ~ Heroica (killed on Day Three) Doranee Grandeur (Dragonator) ~ 44 years old female elf Ranger ~ Heroica (killed on Day Three) Retak Ysp (PsyKater) ~ 2013 years old male Fenarian Necromancer ~ Nephilim (killed on Day Three) Enya Dorgamel (Endgame) ~ 23 years old female human Evoker ~ Heroica (killed on Night Three) Fernandu Elysiam (Fred Daniel Yam) ~ 36 years old male minotaur Shaman ~ Nephilim (killed on Day Four) Maxi Ebdul (Masked Builder) ~ 35 years old male Asteriad Rogue ~ Heroica (killed on Day Four) Shadir Oswain (Shadows) ~ 466 years old male elf Mystic Knight ~ Nephilim (killed on Day Four) Jeddam Ashenbow (Jedi master Brick) ~ 25 years old female hobgoblin Ranger ~ Heroica (killed on Night Four) SHAM POO’S EMERGENCY SHOP FOR HEROES IN NEED: "Boohoo! Heroica RPG - Quest #77: Your Elves are Better than Ours
Sandy replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Ellaria makes her decision. "Sirs Abarbar and Zigzag, let us go kill some Pongcanae. They have made life in R'kilf hell, killing people, raiding our wares and blocking trading routes, and it is high time someone put an end to that. Alexander seems to be with us, I hope Ahvialyn is as well." -
The Marketplace quest will be hosted some time in October-November, since I want Elphaba to be around for it. I have a quest or two coming up before that, though, I just don't have time to host anything while C.A.T. is still going on. For the record, I did not have a say in that item.

Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis: Discussion
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Day Four has ended! Thanks a bunch to Shadows, Fred Daniel Yam and Masked Builder for playing! And we get another returner, herrJJ! -
The Library was again filled to the brim with heroes enthusiastically helping Byblos. Zpilf, Fernandu, Scamander, Zarissa, Corelin, Sir Rubinstein, Pallas, Swinehurst, Ein, Kharybdis, Theodor, Cromeo and Werther all did their part to solve the scrambled sentence. "Ah, now it makes sense! The Dark Angel Lucifuge had the frightening power to manipulate the minds of those he came into contact with. He gathered a personal army of brainwashed warriors that obeyed him without a question. He called them the Nephilim. That must mean that the ones behind this are not acting out of their own will. How tragic..." Sham Poo had his share of customers as well, as Swinehurst and Fernandu visited him at the Gallery. "Money money money, must be funny, in a rich half-orc's world..." Elsewhere, a soothing song resonated in the air. Scamander Taurros' lullaby put Zplif, Maxi, Zarissa, Jeddam, Percival, Corelin, Weyrdág, Pallas and Fleyra fast asleep, preventing them from doing anything else for the day. With almost half of the hall asleep, the other heroes had to become more active. Four heroes banded together to tear Shadir Oswain apart. Five more took on Fernandu Elysiam, who quickly gulped down one of the potions he had just bought. The refreshment was short lived, though. Three others attacked the sleeping Corelin, but she did not even stir from her deep sleep. Three more heroes did in the untrusted Maxi Ebdul. After the carnage was over, Luridan Voros sneaked to the backrooms to revive another slain hero, Heron Jujube. Once more the corpses of the fallen were gathered to be investigated by the Veterans. This time the ominous light came from two bodies; those of Shadir and Fernandu. That left Maxi as the only innocent person killed. "Well, that's certainly great progress! I'm just afraid we're not done with these maniacs yet..." "There's always the option to feed the lot of 'em to Smaragdea. But let's just see how things advance from here-on out..." Another sinister night falls upon Eubric and the doomed heroes. Host Note: You can send in your actions for the night now.

THE DAY IS OVER! Please wait for the day's conclusion before posting your night actions.

Heroica RPG - Quest #77: Your Elves are Better than Ours

"Oh, you're such a spoil-sport, Sir Zigzag! I'm all fired up for a battle already! And if we don't do battles, we won't get enough gold to buy any magic keys. There's a magic shop in town, I have high hopes that they sell those in there." Ellaria knew that the mead made her act irrationally, but she couldn't be bothered. She looked enthusiastically at the knights and Alexander and Ahvialyn. "What do you say, just one battle against one of those pesky Pongcanis patrols? That'd be our good deed for the day!" -
Heroica RPG 2nd Anniversary Building Contest - Voting
Sandy replied to Dragonator's topic in The Heroica Archive
You can read my reviews and personal scores for each entry from the discussion topic, but here are my votes: Eubric Freeport by Emma Temple of Ennoc by Fianat Honorable mentions go to Etzel, MstrOfPppts and Cara, great work everyone! I wish I could have voted for each of you! -
Alright, with the contest closed and voting under way, it's high time I said a word or two about the entries, as the creator and manager of Heroica RPG. First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you who participated in the building contest! It was exciting to see so many entries from people who have not played the game themselves (at least yet), since it gave me a perspective of how the game and it's world looks from an outsider's perspective. I admit that the condition of making the entry fit the world of Heroica RPG must have been tough for non-players, but many of you prevailed even despite of it. Here's my thoughts on each entry, again from the point-of-view of the game manager. They will have no bearing on the results of this contest, as the winners will be chosen purely by voting. I'll mostly evaluate how well the entry fits the game world, but also give building skills and techniques appreciation where it's due. I'll rate both story relation and construction skills from 1 to 5, with the total score being up to 10. ***** Ambush on Castle Fortaan by mandrakesarecool2 Story: 3/5 Construction: 1/5 Total: 4/10 Thematically this is a retcon to the events depicted in Heroica RPG, since in the game's story there was a small group of heroes that invaded Fortaan and killed the Orc King, but your group is obviously different from those in the game. I see the different classes well represented, though, even though the pictures aren't clear on whether there's five or six of them in your MOC. Build-wise there's not much going on, but I do like the birch trees. Attack upon Kezinbricks keep by Kez Story: 3/5 Construction: 3/5 Total: 6/10 The mismatched army comprised of different factions is actually not far from how it goes in Heroica RPG as well. You obviously did some research on the game's different factions, and the minifigs are true to how the factions are represented, even though the scene itself has nothing to do with the on-going game. There's a lot of things happening in the creation, and it could have used a more subdued and cohesive color scheme. The ruins themselves look the part, and they kinda remind me of an official set from an old Castle or Harry Potter-line. Built interior is always a plus! Shrine of the Blessed by Etzel Story: 5/5 Construction: 5/5 Total: 10/10 This is not the first temple of the Paladin Order we've seen from you, but by Ennoc, it's certainly the most immaculately beautiful one! The cohesion of the colors, the symmetry of the patterns, the little intricate details... Even the minifigs fit perfectly! I have to grant it to you - you own the Paladin faction in this game. You have to give us a picture of that angel statue that's blocked by the columns once the contest is over, though. Attacking the Lion Lord Outpost... by Balthazar Story: 1/5 Construction: 2/5 Total: 3/10 You used the minifigs from newest Castle-line to represent Dastan and a unique faction, posing the Dastanese as the bad guys, which has no real connection to the game's story. Construction-wise, the castle is nice, if a bit unfinished, but the natural rockface is a bit wonky, going all zigzaggy up and inside the wall. This is just a Castle MOC, in my eyes, there's not enough that fits the theme of the contest. Orc Tombs by Zepher Story: 4/5 Construction: 2/5 Total: 6/10 You took the storyline about the Orcish Wars and expanded it with a touching tale of rivals who came to respect one another. It's a nice, tranquil scene, but I do wish there was more going on in it. Especially the tombstones could have stood out more. The Ruins of Fortaan by Wedge09 Story: 3/5 Construction: 4/5 Total: 7/10 Like Zepher, you took pre-existing information and expanded upon it, essentially building the world of the game more with your creation. I personally would have loved to see some sort of action in the ruins, maybe a ghost of the king walking in the staircase. Nevertheless, the construction is beautiful, serene and shows a forgotten place well. Burning House by Rumble Strike Story: 3/5 Construction: 2/5 Total: 5/10 I interpret this as an origin story for Tarn, your game character. If it's not, I have a hard time finding other connection to the game world (besides there being a cleric, of course). It's a tragic scene, and your dramatic photos really captured the essence of it. Construction-wise there could have been more to the house, and there was certainly room for more details in the yard as well. Peep's Sheep 'n' Livestock Co by Tazmaniac Story: 3/5 Construction: 5/5 Total: 8/10 This creation's story feels like a pitch for a quest like the ones we have in the game, so kudos for calling us all into a new adventure against your terrifyingly terrific monster! Building-wise, the scene is dynamic, fun, and colorful. It don't mind that it's out of scale for minifigs at all! The call of adventure by Harton Story: 5/5 Construction: 4/5 Total: 9/10 This story captures the essence of why I think most characters join Heroica - the call of adventure is that strong for those who are tired of doing the same mundane labors day in and day out. That's why this creation fits the theme perfectly, even if you hadn't written some of the known locations into your flavor text (which is great that you did, anyway - shows that you did some research). The little house is wonderfully crafted, I love your attention to details. Defending the Tower of Bellasur by Hench Story: 1/5 Construction: 1/5 Total: 2/10 Well, you chose to write a completely original background story for this, which unfortunately disconnects it from the theme of this contest. Your main picture isn't showing, either, so it's impossible to evaluate the creation. Eubric Freeport by Emma Story: 5/5 Construction: 5/5 Total: 10/10 I'm awestruck! What would look like a hodgepodge of weird small houses to an outsider is an amazing trip to a miniature Eubric to those familiar with the game world. I'm even more honored by the fact that you were not familiar with the game, but took the time and the effort to search for references of the houses and their general looks. I can definitely spot all the important landmarks - Heroica Hall, all the headquarters of the Six Houses, the Theater, the Academy, the temples, the Hovels, the fishmarket, the cemetery, the Triad Park... Your entry really stands out for being such a unique take on the theme of the contest. Exquisite work, I'm totally in love with it! Dastan Empire Dragon Tomb by Kumpelkante Story: 4/5 Construction: 4/5 Total: 8/10 Ooh, what a menacing tomb! I can picture this scene being one of the countless adventures that members of Heroica have gone through. The creation is well-made as well, with the intimidating dragon's skull as the clear center-piece of the entry. Fortaan Abyss by MstrOfPppts Story: 5/5 Construction: 5/5 Total: 10/10 Now there's what a good quest is all about - tough situations, fierce battles and loads of loot! I love the variety of the heroes you have in your "party", it's great that you've used some of the races exclusively created for this game. The built is superb as well, I really like how the action dynamically follows the winding staircase. The use of the tiles from Heroica boardgame's tiles as decoration is a nice touch as well. I have to commend you for the crisp photography too. I'd love to see more shots from different angles for this creation when the contest is over! Dwarven Flying Ship by mkjosha Story: 4/5 Construction: 3/5 Total: 7/10 You've certainly made an effort with writing a proper background story for this creation. The story adds a great sense of adventure to compliment the built scene. You just got one detail wrong: Newharbour isn't the best place to find people to go on crazy quests, Eubric is (since it has Heroica Hall). The airship you've built looks great, but the mountain ruins look a tad incomplete. Derlin's Home by Legonardo Story: 1/5 Construction: 4/5 Total: 5/5 What a great house! I love the color scheme, the rockface looks superb, and even the smoke rising from the chimney looks authentic. Too bad it's not complete. However, apart from the Heroica-tile on the druid's wall, it has no connection to the storyline of the game. A shame, really. Ragarr's Tower by insomniaart Story: 1/5 Construction: 1/5 Total: 2/10 I'm sorry, but neither the storyline nor the construction makes any sense to me. Thanks for participating, though. Guarded Inn by Chromeknight Story: 2/5 Construction: 3/5 Total: 5/5 A nice nod to an old set, but I wish there would have been a more distinct connection to the game, especially since the entry is coming from a player. The reds and yellows really make the building, but I would have loved to see more details in the surroundings (and many of the bricks aren't pushed into place well enough). Agleon Erigeon, The Paladin Order Quarters. by Niku Story: 2/5 Construction: 3/5 Total: 5/10 While the gates are impressive enough, I fail to see how they relate to the god of talking frogs. Maybe the building would have worked better as some sort of elven fortress. The Swamp Witch (With “Flick-Fire” Guardian Swamp Toad!) by Ragnar_Deerslayer Story: 2/5 Construction: 2/5 Total: 4/10 The background story has a nice fairy tale feeling to it, but the connections to the game world are a bit slim. Instead of a lone adventurer, maybe the Swamp Witch (loving the minifig, by the way) could have faced a party of heroes of Heroica. The construction resembles an actual set quite closely, down to flick-fire missiles. I don't think TLG has yet added a frog to their flick-fire features, though. Arckhasan siege by Mikisajlo Story: 1/5 Construction: 1/5 Total: 2/10 The pictures are too small to make heads or tails of this creation. The story's connection to the game escapes me, as well. "Say Hello To My Little Friend!" by ShaydDeGrai Story: 4/5 Construction: 5/5 Total: 9/10 This is a scene I'd love to see in an actual quest. Great humor, great action, great dragon chihuahua! The Stone Hammer, Strivvian Blacksmith. by Scubacarrot Story: 5/5 Construction: 4/5 Total: 9/10 I have an inkling we will be seeing this building in an upcoming quest by you. The building and the color scheme fits perfectly to the city of Strivvi that you've created for the game, and the use of some "familiar faces" among the minifigs is commendable. The stonework on the building is lovely, although I personally wouldn't have minded to see a few windows to break the pattern. The Magic Fountain of Waldurk Forest by vecchiasignoraceppo Story: 2/5 Construction: 3/5 Total: 5/10 You took a different approach to the theme of this contest by making a reference to the boardgames rather than this forum RPG. It doesn't matter that much, since the boardgames were where all of this began. It's nice to see a feature from the boardgame in a different scale, but I personally think the scene could have used some minifigs or other type of action. The old outpost by Jippon Story: 4/5 Construction: 4/5 Total: 8/10 I've been thinking if I could incorporate the dark druid from the boardgames into the HRPG's world somehow, and your entry is an interesting option for that. I really love the menacing minifig, and the ruins look great as well. Very inspired by the LotR-sets, I figure, but I don't mind since the sets are great, anyway. Etheric Windmill, Xu Peninsular by Cara Story: 5/5 Construction: 5/5 Total: 10/10 Whoa! Such ethereal beauty! I wish I had your skills of making otherworldly technology like that! Despite being highly advanced technology, your etheric windmill does not feel out of place in a fantasy world at all! I really appreciate the research you made for this creation, and the fact that it expands on what's established. Perhaps we'll see that fishing girl join Heroica played by you, one day? Temple of Ennoc by Fianat Story: 5/5 Construction: 5/5 Total: 10/10 This is insane! I never expected to see anything like this in this contest, but I'm thoroughly pleased to have been wrong! The fact that the creation fits the game world perfectly makes me even more awe-struck, since it's not just a great creation with the theme tacked on it. The statues and the tympanum of the temple are pure awesomeness. The minifigs bring the creation to life. It's a true honor to get an entry like this. Dock by Evillemur Story: 1/5 Construction: 3/5 Total: 4/10 It's too bad you did not really tell anything about the creation, but I can imagine the dock fitting the game world. The water looks nice, although maybe a bit too pure and textured to belong a city dock, where the water is usually murky and still. ***** That's all, I think! Five entries got a full score of 10 out of 10 from me, with three others coming close, which only tells of the absolutely high quality of the entries. Thank you again for participating, everyone, and a thousand thanks to Dragonator and the rest of the staff for organizing this! It's been a great two years for Heroica RPG, let there be many more great years to come!

Hey! Stay in line! Just a note to everyone incapacitated by the "Great Sleepmaster" there, you're not excused from making a bolded action (or stating that you wish to do nothing). Failing to send in an action for two phases in a row will get you eliminated automatically. And just so you know, Scamander's songs work only as long as he lives. -
Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis: Discussion

And Day Four is up! Sorry to lose you, Endgame! And welcome back to the game officially, Pyrovisionary! -
DAY FOUR ~ DESPERATE BATTLE For the third time, Scheherazade checked the main hall for any night-time casualties first thing in the morning. As she gazed down the staircase, she let out a deep sigh. "Poor lass... Beauty doesn't bring you happiness, that much I've learned in life." The Veterans investigated the body of Enya Dorgamel, and she showed no signs of being a Nephilim either. As the other heroes got up, a heated argument sprung up immediately. It seemed the previous day and night had been very revealing. Meanwhile, the Feathered Serpent challenged the Copper Fox to a sparring match at the Training Room. "You're right, Kukulkan, we better be in shape when the push comes to shove." "All that talk will leave you open, Jacq! Ha!" "Whoa! Take it easy! We're just training here!" "You think the Nephilim will 'take it easy' on us? Be prepared for anything! Ho!" At the Library, Byblos thought he had gotten one step further in his research, but had hit another obstacle. "As literate as I am, even I have a hard time unscrambling text that has been mixed up by a spell. It's a shame, this Mercutian parchment seems to have a reference to our adversary..." ****** BYBLOS THE LIBRARIAN'S CHALLENGE #3: Unscramble the words on the sentence below. RULES: 1. All players can use one ability per phase. During the Night-phase, the game is played through Private Messages between the host and the players, and all actions are private, revealed only to the target. During the Day-phase, all actions are public, and are shown in the Day-topic to everyone. Ranged attacks and spells are an exception, their performer is never revealed. If you fail to send in an action for two phases in a row, you will be killed off. You are free to roleplay with your character, and most of all, have fun!PLAYER CHARACTERS: Brienne Deercourt (Brickdoctor) ~ 29 years old female human Paladin Capriccia Gianpaolo (Capt.JohnPaul) ~ 123 years old female vampire Cleric Corelin Moordog (CorneliusMurdock) ~ 282 years old female dwarf Warden Cromeo Nightingale (Chromeknight) ~ 22 years old male half-elf Harlot Ein Surefoot (Esurient) ~ 397 years old male dwarf Cleric Emmanuelle Janus (emjajoas) ~ 33 years old female human Knight Fernandu Elysiam (Fred Daniel Yam) ~ 36 years old male minotaur Shaman Fleyra (Flare) ~ 29 years old female Rito Winged Warrior Geosmos Phiephyrphoe (joeshmoe554) ~ 52 years old male cyclops Infiltrator Jeddam Ashenbow (Jedi master Brick) ~ 25 years old female hobgoblin Ranger Jinnipher Buchaire (JimButcher) ~ 71 years old female elf Knight Kharybdis (Kadabra) ~ 26 years old female Octopial Beast Warrior Lorth-Anoob (LordoftheNoobs) ~ 42 years old female Pantanan Witch Luridan Voros (Lord Duvors) ~ 53 years old male gremlin Alchemist Maxi Ebdul (Masked Builder) ~ 35 years old male Asteriad Rogue O’Blix (-obelix-) ~ 27 years old male goblin Regulator Pallas Thaddicus (Palathadric) ~ 103 years old male Lucustoid Druid Panduin Oreheart (Pandora) ~ 148 years old male dwarf Barbarian Percival Montmartre (Peppermint_M) ~ 24 years old male human Ranger Piro the Visionary (Pyrovisionary) ~ 227 years old male wereturtle Battle Mage (killed on Day Two but resurrected on Day Three) Sir Rubinstein (Rumble Strike) ~ 47 years old male human Skirmisher Scamander Taurros (Scubacarrot) ~ 34 years old male satyr Minstrel Shadir Oswain (Shadows) ~ 466 years old male elf Mystic Knight Swinehurst (swils) ~ 31 years old male porc Berserker Theodor Legion (The Legonater) ~ 73 years old male human Cannoneer Usharnam Madima (UsernameMDM) ~ 38 years old male Naga Chi Monk Werther Brickton (Waterbrick Down) ~ 49 years old male zombie Assassin Weyrdág (Wedge09) ~ 341 years old female Nôrn Hunter Zarissa Curie (Zakura) ~ 58 years old female gnome Sage Zelphie (Zepher) ~ 815 years old female fairy Artisan Zpilf (Flipz) ~ 85 years old male ogre Black Knight DEAD CHARACTERS: Kob (Kintobor) ~ 21 years old male orc Mage ~ Heroica (killed on Day One, raised as an undead on Night One but perished again on Day Three) Pauline Jillian Boyle (Purpearljellyblob) ~ 18 years old female Mopag Mage ~ Heroica (killed on Day One) Heron Jujube (herrJJ) ~ 19 years old male human Cleric ~ Heroica (killed on Night One, raised as an undead on Night Two but perished again on Day Three) Eris (Eric Su) ~ 26 years old female orc Sorcerer ~ Heroica (killed on Day Two) Ezeal (Etzel) ~ 28 years old male werelion Barbarian ~ Nephilim (killed on Day Two) Skrupp Oxstrong (Scorpiox) ~ 30 years old male norseman Raider ~ Heroica (killed on Day Two) U’dargan (Darkdragon) ~ 29 years old male U’kin Dragoon ~ Heroica (killed on Day Two) Calico Meatpie (CallMePie) ~ 16 years old female halfling Rogue ~ Heroica (killed on Day Three) Doranee Grandeur (Dragonator) ~ 44 years old female elf Ranger ~ Heroica (killed on Day Three) Retak Ysp (PsyKater) ~ 2013 years old male Fenarian Necromancer ~ Nephilim (killed on Day Three) Enya Dorgamel (Endgame) ~ 23 years old female human Evoker ~ Heroica (killed on Night Three) SHAM POO’S EMERGENCY SHOP FOR HEROES IN NEED: "You can visit my shop any time during the day! Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis: Discussion

Sorry for being late with the results, we had a parents' evening at work. I'll start sending in the results of Night Three now, so Day Four will be up either in a couple of hours or then tomorrow, depending on how long it takes for me to write the PMs. -
Heroica RPG - Quest #77: Your Elves are Better than Ours

"I don't think dead Pongcanae can talk, Sir Zigzag", Ellaria says with a wink. "Let us go, good sires!" Ellaria steps outside the warehouse and introduces the two knights to Alexander and Ahvialyn. "These are Alexander and Ahvialyn, fellow members of resistance. Oh, one more question before we depart: you don't happen to have a key that fits the door of that locked warehouse, would you?" If the knights give a negative response, Ellaria quickly goes around to check the corpses for the key. OoC: Sorry to put so many things into one post, but I think it's about time we get things moving again. -

"Sounds... lovely", Ellaria, smiling widely as she gulps down the chicken and bread. "Killing Pongcanae sounds great. It's due time their tyranny will be put to an end! In fact, I have a couple of friends waiting outside who would love to help. Do you think the five of us are enough to take out the beastmen?" -
That someone will instantly commit suicide because they cannot live with being so damn deadly.

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Sandy replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
The class has several issues; the job traits need more work, the Shield-skill is broken, Taunt does not match the effects it resembles (potentially causing confusion), having Counter in place of Damage is overpowered... No, the class certainly has not been approved yet. -
Stupid maths! I never intended the multiplication to be 0 if there are no undead raised. Maybe I need to rephrase the skill... But yeah, the base damage is WP + Level, and the number of undead multiply the WP (ie. with one raised the WP stays the same, with two it is doubled etc.).

Heroica RPG - Cruel Angel's Thesis ~ Day Three
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
That day, Byblos had many helpers in his library. Zpilf, Swinehurst, Sir Rubinstein, Werther Brickton, Enya Dorgamel, Scamander Taurros, Pallas Thaddicus and Kharybdis (still in her octopus form) all successfully aided Byblos in the translation work. "The work is complete! Let us see: King Haeresias was the last ruler of the Moon Elven Kingdom of Mercution before it sunk into the Crystalline Ocean. His closest advisors were Sorceress Ambergaze of Babeleth and a dark angel called the Lightshunner. Oh! So it seems that Lucifuge had his wings on the matter of the cursed kingdom of Mercution as well! The legends tell that a thousand years ago the Moon Elven kingdom got overrun by demons, and the Wizard Priests of Ennon had to sink it down to the bottom of the ocean. If historians are not mistaken, the Free Islands could very well be the only remains of Mercution. As the saying goes, the plot thickens... Thank you for your help, everyone! This gives me another lead to work on." Sham also had visitors during the day, as Fleyra bought a potion and Ein Surefoot a tonic from him. "Thank you for your patronage! Ka-ching!" At the main hall, things got heated again. Panduin Oreheart and Scamander Taurros enjoyed their refreshing drinks together as Fleyra took off on her wings again. Shadir Oswain got ganged up against by Werther Brickton, O'blix, Zarissa and an unknown arrow-shooter. Theodor Legion made Doranee Grandeur explode, with her artifial leg flying against the wall with a loud clank. Sir Rubinstein in turn drove his sword through Fernandu Elysiam's shoulder. Kharybdis in her bestial form wrapped her tentacles around Shadir, Enya and Retak Ysp, and flung them all across the room. As the three tried to recover, Kharybdis reverted back to her humanoid form. "That was fun!" Calico Meatpie was blown to bits by a bomb, just as Brienne Deercourt was rushing to cover for her again. Maxi Ebdul looked at Brienne through his magnifying glass. "Very interesting..." Ein Surefoot healed Emmanuelle Janus, while Corelin Moordog blocked Capriccia Gianpaolo's attack. Geosmos Phiephyrphoe continued whispering around, this time to Scamander Taurros. Zelphie just worked on her weapon without anyone stopping her. Meanwhile, Luridan Voros had dragged Piro the Visionary's body to the Training Room, where he applied the Phoenix Essence on him. Miraculously, the wereturtle Battle Mage sprung back to life! Then Luridan returned to the main hall, where he joined Usharnam Madima, Enya Dorgamel and Swinehurst in their effort to slay Retak Ysp. As the necromancer fell to the ground dead, so did the two corpses he raised. Heron Jujube and Kob were gone once more. As the final number for the day, Jeddam Ashenbow got an arrow to her hip. When the bodies had been dragged away, the Dragonlord then gathered the surviving heroes for an important announcement. "Listen up! We haven't made progress on the case the way I expected to, and much of it is because of cowardice and indifference riddling some individuals among you. Let it be hence known that if you don't take action for a consecutive day and night, you will get to meet my dragon, Smaragdea. And let me tell you that the meeting will not be pleasant! She does not care whether you're innocent or not, so either do your part in this ordeal, or become her snack!" The horrified heroes retired for the night, thinking if the Veteran was being serious, or simply out of his mind. Again, the Veterans examined the corpses that got left from the day. This time, the horrendous vision of the dark angel appeared over the body of Retak Ysp, revealing him to have been a Nephilim. In a blink, it was gone. Calico and Doranee were apparently loyal to Heroica all along. "A second Nephilim defeated, but who knows how many of them are left?" Host Note: The Day has (finally) ended. You can now send in your night actions.- 343 replies
