^ Yeah this. I want nearly all the new summer wave sets, but the winter wave was a complete miss. Right now it's either buy the sandcrawler at full retail (which I don't want to do), or get the jedi defender (which only vaguely interests me). And I don't really get the people suggesting Revan is an obscure character. Nearly every Star Wars fan I know has played KOTOR, it's pretty much THE Star Wars game of the last decade.

[LDD MOC] 71,000 piece, 13-foot Super Star Destroyer
Thorg23 replied to Fox Hound's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Holy crap. That is amazing. The immense scale is such that on a quick glance at the 3rd and 4th images in the OP, it doesn't even look like Lego - it looks like an actual film model. -
What's Your Favorite Train Documentary and/or TV Program?
Thorg23 replied to Hey Joe's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I watched the first series of Great Railway Journeys of the World about 100 times as a child. Back then I never paid attention to anything in the show that wasn't train related, but having rediscovered most of them on youtube recently, it's really interesting to see the political or historical stuff that went over my head as a child. The episode in which historian Michael Wood travels from Cape Town to Victoria Falls is especially interesting given the political turmoil in the region during and after that time. Also, the inspirations for 2 of the most recent Lego trains were featured in this series, with the Flying Scotsman in the Michael Palin episode, and the introduction of the TGV at the end of the European "Changing Trains" episode. -
Heh, Lego shipped the promo stuff first since my B-Wing was on back order, and the B-Wing finally shipped Thursday. Since the former was snail mail and the latter was Fedex, they were both delivered today. Both came with that Legend of Chima set, and I don't really want one of them, much less 2. Maybe my nephews will like them...

I finally gave in and got the Desert Skiff on Amazon. For $16.15 I couldn't refuse. To keep the order in theme (and get free shipping) I also purchased the ESB OST at the same time.

Wow.

Thanks for posting that video Faefrost; that was really interesting.

Looks good. Man Empire at War was fun, one of my favorite Star Wars games for sure.

Definitely getting one of these. I was in the middle of my dark ages when the last one was out, so I'm perfectly fine with them remaking an old UCS.

Fantastic post BrickieB. This set is the one I most regret missing out on from being in my dark ages, so if I ever decide to take the leap and do this, your post will be a great resource. It's a fun read too!

Hi everybody, I've been lurking on these forums for a while now, and figured I should probably get around to writing one of this hello posts. Back in my youth I was an avid collector of Lego, mainly focusing on the Space (m-tron, blacktron (2?), space police (2?), ice planet, spyrius, i think that's it?), trains, and a bit of city and castle. It's a pity there were no Star Wars sets back then, but given how I treated my Lego sets as a kid, that's probably a good thing. Went into my dark ages in the mid 90s sometime around the end of elementary school, though I sort of Lego'd vicariously through my younger nephews during that time, especially after the first few star wars sets came out. I remember being jealous of their x-wing set (the original system scale version, 7140). As they also grew out of their Lego phase, my collection just became that big group of boxes that took up storage space and were largely forgotten. I vaguely remember seeing a few Star Wars UCS sets at the Mall of America Lego store, but I was so disconnected from Lego that it didn't really dawn on me how sweet they were at the time, they were just sort of a novelty or something for the kids and I largely ignored them. Fast forward to 2011, when out of the blue, a Lego Shop@Home Catalog for someone a few houses down the street was misdelivered to me. Before bringing it to its proper address, I decided to have a look just for nostalgia purposes. Some of the highlights were the Emerald Night and one of the first appearances of the Executor 10221 set, among the other star wars ones. Needless to say the itch had returned at that point, thanks to the completely random event of one piece of misdelivered mail. I didn't want to drop a ton of money into it at first, getting my feet wet with the small Star Wars midi sets of the Millennium Falcon and the Star Destroyer. Itching to get back into the swing of things while waiting for my purchased sets to arrive, I tried my hand at a Star Destroyer of my own with what grey pieces I could find in my old boxes of Lego. You don't want to see it, it looks awful - I sort of ran out of the proper pieces halfway through it and had to make do with what I had left in gray (old gray BTW - at this point I didn't even know the difference between old gray and bley ). That Christmas I received the 7965 Falcon and it snowballed from there. I have mostly focused on Star Wars, perhaps feeling the need to make up for not having the theme during my childhood. It does help that I am an original trilogy purist and am not a huge fan of minifig heavy sets, so the new habit isn't putting nearly as big of a dent in my wallet as it could have, although with the heavy focus on reduxes of OT ships in 2012, my collection has still grown quite quickly. My shelves now have nearly every original trilogy ship released in the last year along with a few other things - 9495, 9493, 9492, 9500, 75003, 10221, and 10225. I also have the 10212 shuttle completed but nowhere to display it . I also have the aforementioned terrible star destroyer moc and a WIP tie interceptor moc based on the 2012 tie fighter which I may post at some point if I ever get around to finishing it to my satisfaction. I also have 2 young nephews (not the same ones mentioned earlier) who are into all things Lego at the moment, so it's great to be able to share the hobby with them. Lately I've begun expanding beyond just SW, as I received the Sopwith Camel for Xmas, I just splurged for a sealed Emerald Night, and I also plan to get at least one Horizon Express at some point. Yep, my dark ages are definitely over.

Wow. Very impressive. The extra details everywhere are incredible.

I got the 10212 UCS Imperial Shuttle on amazon while it was 20% off. Also purchased Jabba's Palace and the Skiff sets as an Xmas gift for my nephews.
-
I definitely plan to pick this up at some point since I don't have an A-Wing or an Ackbar currently, but the ridiculous amount of stickers for such a small set is disappointing.
-
I recently picked up R2-D2 on Amazon. Couldn't resist the $150 price tag.

I've been exclusively a Star Wars collector since ending my dark ages, but I've regretted missing out on the Emerald Night. I don't plan to miss out on this; it looks like an amazing set. The orange TGV is one of the most iconic high speed trains and Lego appears to have done a great job recreating it. The only tough decision for me is whether to get 1 or 2.
