Technic Fan

I build the Ball factory and it is tricky to get timing right so that everything runs smoothly. I used the 5.5 axle.To assist you, the Rebricker created a complete video on the timing setup for the Ball Factory.

A nice variety of GBC modules and I especially liked the Mountain diorama at 3:10. The use of themed modules and themed minifigs throughout the loop was a nice touch. Overall a very nice GBC loop to watch. Thanks for sharing so others can enjoy and appreciate the hard work and creativity presented in this collaboration.

I see the Zig-Zag Steps module was removed from the list and replaced by the Pinball module. I like the Zig-Zag Steps and was wondering if it's a temporary or permanent removal?

Yesterday, I wanted to order one from Lego online but they were out of stock, so I picked one up from a Lego store at Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge, Virginia (USA), and they had several sets available (when I as there). The Lego store only allowed one set per customer, which is encouraging. Hopefully Lego has the same policy all around so folks won't be able to horde the sets. I'm looking forward to the build.

I use a Surface Pro, which is very handy. It's thin, very portable with a built-in adjustable stand to change screen angles and a detachable keyboard. It also has a touch screen, so you can zoom in on the instructions to get a closer look at certain parts or building steps. Has a video player to watch video building instructions and other software like Word and Powerpoint for other building instruction formats. Another big plus is It also has a USB port, so you can attach an external hard drive or USB stick to expand your memory or access a large library of PDF instruction files. IMO it has advantages over an iPad and a little more portable than a PC.

I totally agree that GBC is (very) addictive. I was bitten by the GBC bug in 2011 and since then I have built more than 20 GBC modules and have been part of several GBC loops at LEGO events ever since. My first Akiyuki module was in 2012, when I built the blue Archimedes screw, from watching the video. I also built the cup-to-cup from photos and the video. Then last year, I followed the Rebricker and built the Ball Factory (my favorite module) and this year the lift triggered by a stuck ball. I greatly appreciate all the effort by everyone who put everything together and for sharing Akiyuki's creations. This forum also adds fuel to the GBC fire

I attempted to recreate Akiyuki's GBC module two years ago from watching the video and using the few photos that existed at the time. I made some progress, I built the input, cup-to-cup ramp and part of the spiral lift but never finished the project. Seeing this post has given me additional reference material and new energy. I'll have to get my partially completed module out, dust it off and finally finish building it. Thanks for the thread and inspiration, nice work David.

There are no instructions for this module. I was able to recreate it using the photos Torso posted on this thread, watching the video and a 3D model of the Cardan Lift posted on Swebrick. The 3D model was made with LeoCAD and many of the parts are not aligned properly, but I was able to create a functioning module from the resources provided. The only tricky thing about it is to synchronize the arm.

With Torso's permission, I built a version of his Cardan lift design and put it on display in a GBC loop at Brickfair Virginia 2015 (July 29 - August 2, 2015). The module ran flawlessly during loop testing and two public sessions. Each public session was about six hours of continuous running time and there were no issues or problems at all during operation. In my opinion this module is designed very well and capable of running very long periods of time without error. Excellent work Torso.

I picked one up at my local Lego Store the other day and am looking forward to the build. From the reviews I've read and videos I have seen, this should be a fun build.

My best bargain has been a complete 8547 Mindstorms NXT 2.0 set (retail $280 USD) for a mere $25 USD.

Neat idea. I like to build GBC modules and can see their potential for use in a module. I have several of these parts and will have to experiment with them. Thanks for sharing.

Hello, For the past 6 years I have attended and displayed GBC at BrickFair Virginia (outside of Washington DC), and can say it's a nice event. Last year we had over 10,000 public visitors. This years event is from July 29 - August 2, 2015 (Public show Aug 1-2). One of the GBC coordinators is Tom Atkinson, I have his contact information if you need it. He does several GBC events each year to include Brickworld Chicago last year. We'd enjoy you joining us at BrickFair too. Ciao, Scott

I bought one last week (Feb 22nd) for $129.99 at the Lego store in Tysons Corner, VA, United States.

It appears I owe nico71 and the rest of this forum an apology. Recent posts on this forum page regarding nico71's Morgan Three Wheeler have come to my attention. So you know, I am a BIG FAN of nico71's creations and admire his work. I truly enjoy the Technic medium and building Technic models. There are some AFOL creators that intrigue me with their creations, and nico71 is at the top of a very short list. For clarification the Morgan Three Wheeler that was displayed at Brickfair 2012 was done with the intent to add more variety to the fairs Technic genre. It was displayed, so Brickfair attendees would have the opportunity to admire nico71's creation, not win a trophy. I never claimed the car to be my creation nor intended to plagiarize/steal nico71's design. Brickfair requires all MOCs be registered in order to get a BrickFair display card. In my haste, I overlooked checking the block stating that the MOC was not being entered in the competition and made an error in not mentioning nico71 as the creator, for which I am truly sorry. I'm somewhat new to the AFOL community and was not aware of the protocol or sensitive nature regarding MOCs. I was shocked and embarrassed to see the car had won a trophy when other AFOLs attending Brickfair 2012 and Paul Boratko (Crowkiller) knew the car was nico71's creation. Had I known my actions would have created such scorn I would have done a better job at giving nico71 the proper credit or simply not have displayed the car. I'm not an artist or an engineer, just an adult who is a fan and likes to build things with Technic Lego. As such, I have sent an email apology to Nicolas (nico71). In addition, I made contact with Todd Webb, BrickFair's coordinator and made arrangements to return the trophy to BrickFair. I apologize for any problems I may have caused. Regards, Scott Anderson
