  1. I always had a soft spot for this one, and its cousin the Legoland california one. I could never decide which I liked better... Nice review! God Bless, Nathan
  2. I'm not an Exo fan at all, but you've done a great job capturing the feel of the line and your box art is very well done. A robot base would be an interesting addition to the line... God Bless, Nathan
  3. A little late... I didn't use this program, but the tutorial did inspire me to try batch treatments, so I would rank it as a huge success. Remember every time you help an under-educated computer user... God smiles ;-) God Bless, Nathan
  4. And you call yourself a Lego enthusiast... X-D :-D ;-) God Bless, Nathan
  5. No... As Brickminer pointed out, just a joke... God Bless, Nathan
  6. Sorry, don't have any off hand. But you do notice parts in colours they weren't released in... God Bless, Nathan
  7. I don't think this one is so outlandish, from what I sw of the pics a lot of these figs were from the 90s and the BL average price per fig is well over 50c. But a better mass discount probably should have applied.... God Bless, Nathan
  8. Welcome! Always good to see the MOCer as well as the MOC ; ) God Bless, Nathan
  9. I'll never look at the lego logo in the same way again... that should have been the ad by itself. Thanks for posting this! God Bless, Nathan
  10. Most people accept their authenticity, I have a few myself (not this specific one), and the lego logo and serial number are correct. There is a 'museum' thread on cc to show most of the known variants. Most of these are believed to originate in test runs/un-used parts. Seeing as Lego admit their supply line works by running off pieces in a colour, storing them, and then designing a set, I can readily imagine a lot of left-overs. Also if you look closely at mini-land a lot of 'unproduced' colours are in evidence... God Bless, Nathan
  11. Welcome! I know it isn't a full rig, but this pic always inspired me: Lego catalogue link... God Bless, Nathan
  12. Thanks a million! And as noted on your site I did visit your layout at the 500 Festival two years ago... But I still haven't tried my hand at a ship... though this one is so gorgeous it really has me thinking... I normally post here first (or Lugnet on occasion, depends which I'm browsing while finishing up the rough post) so I would assume so. I then relay castle specific items to CC... I also preview my MOCs a long time in advance on EB if you know where to look ;-) ... God Bless, Nathan
  13. Current strategic focus group sessions reveal a niche for primo pirates as it was their absence which ruined the duplo effort, which in turn ruined the 4+ effort... X-D X-D God Bless, Nathan
  14. I was only waiting to respond until I had looked it a couple of times, because while I love constructive feedback, it really should refer to something specifically... As to the too boxy; I put this down to one of those invisible groupings of lego fans/builders. I fall in the caricature camp that appreciates realism but realizes ('thinks' ;-) X-D ) that the only way to fully achieve this in lego is via caricature, to imply something rather than copy it exactly... I think you fall more in the pure realism camp*. For example when I go to build a fence in my model it may not look very like a real fence (perhaps less posts, perhaps a very different height) but I hope that in the total context of the MOC you look and say 'that looks so real'. That's my artistic liberty. The same liberty would add some sleek curves to the stage coach (unlike the picture) but try and keep people saying 'look at the stage coach'... *Although you're a hybrid X-D as most of them use piece counts far greater than lego and would MOC in a similar way to mini-land (which I don't care for on the whole). For a specific fix suggestion (I never do this, but I know you are mature enough to take/leave/enjoy/hate) I would keep the box (realism) but perhaps in only one colour, then add a second colour trim complete with one of my faviourite pieces mounted outside about half way up the box: Then you have a box, that doesn't look like a box, unless you want to see a box X-D X-D God Bless, Nathan
  15. No... I don't think it is the same child (probably a lack of clarity on my part). I think it is a different consumer who buys the licenses... Nathan
  16. It was the figurehead on the SES... And this ship is another nice find. The standard seems to be improving dramatically lately... God Bless, Nathan
  17. Sounds exciting (the zeppelin that is ;-) ) I would also like to congratulate you on finishing your story! God Bless, Nathan
  18. True, but when you are building a creator house or old school lego set a lot of kids' next thought is building furniture/something to go with it... It could be argued that SW/liscenses work more along the lines of "now I have an x wing, I guess I'll have to wait till lego makes a tie..." God Bless, Nathan (who thinks lego just exemplifies far larger trends and that you can't adequately compare the different age ranges response to lego stimulus as other cultural influences have changed so dramatically...)
  19. I somehow missed that the engines were those viking wheels in red... odd. Thanks for the review and God Bless, Nathan
  20. I have to admit I'm not sold on this one... Love the concept, love the box art, I even like the attempt to conform to Lego's piece count/style in this scenario. But the stagecoach itself doesn't work for me. It seems too tall and boxy as well as looking like a few components in different colours rather than a blended whole... Also if lego made this I predict there would only be one bandit... ;-) EDIT: I forgot the main suggestion I intended to make... The horses are attached to the stage in a very strange way. If you replaced the white bricks on their backs with black (as lego often did) it would do more to imply a harness from the side... Thanks for sharing and God Bless, Nathan
  21. In a thread on cc someone has been planning to sell off an old lego collection. I didn't pay much attention until I saw this photo. Thought you lads may be interested. The cc thread... Just thought I would post a heads up in case anyone wants to charm this guy ;-) God Bless, Nathan
  22. A very nice ship, one of the best I've seen but it has an awful big rear :-$ God Bless, Nathan
  23. Hey and welcome! Finally an introduction not requiring a castle plug.... X-D God Bless, Nathan
  24. No! I'm going to have to insist that EB bucks the trend of alphabetical discrimination and starts at z... God Bless, Nathan
