  1. Question: Would the 9751 box work directly with a PC (equipped with an old style serial port) or does it need the 9750 interface card? @ Jesse - Thank You, I got the 9751 box ... was hoping/thinking if I can get an RS-232 adapter (to USB), my computer should be able to talk to it ... but now having second thoughts. It appears the interface card 9750 is needed (?) ... or not?
  2. Tagging along, I got a set from eBay (in transit) and curious on how to make it work ... with Win7/64 Bit.
  3. Neat. Reminds me of a visit I paid to DeHavilland in Toronto several years ago. There, I 'learned' that most aircrafts (i.e., Dash-8) had the typical hydraulic controls, but also a back-up system (with wires and pulleys) than ran above the ceiling, as a back-up system just in case the hydraulic system failed.
  4. Isn't white plastic the cheapest to make? ... No dye to add ... no 'stringent' color quality control ...
  5. Found a site with several interesting MOCS. I hope it's ok to post on here, otherwise, please delete/close thread. http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/mocs.html
  6. May have been a mistake of mine, as it was posted in his thread on a 'sister' site ...
  7. He has not stopped from surprising us ... here is another one of his 'marvels'. or
  8. Seems there will be an abundance of those as a tallship is scheduled to reach a dock (lego store) near you ... in a very near future. http://www.flickr.com/photos/neoape/12146195274/in/photostream/
  9. The power puller tires are way too small for such beast ...
  10. Seems u're right as I have not seen that photo. But, from other photos, it appeared that this was a multi-purpose bucket .... No harm done, just another minor 'disappointment' as from the outside, it does look like I was referring to ...
  11. Looking more carefully at the bucket, it is NOT a single piece. It does open. You'll see that the part with the teeth rotates relative to the rest of the bucket. These are called MULTI-purpose buckets, in contrast with the old style, which are called GENERAL-purpose ... NEAT!!! Edit: From the 'limited' pictures I've seen, I thought it was this type of bucket http://www.acs-coupl.../4_in_1_buckets ... now, after seeing other picturs, it seems it was more 'wishful' thinking from my side.
  12. Strictly speaking, in most construction machinery, the large tires (with their plushness) count as suspension. Now, in agricultural machines however, some tractors (Case) do have a Cab with a suspension ... To improve operator's comfort.
  13. Only John Deere makes green engines. Though, in the construction business, various competitors bought engines from each other. I'm not sure if Volvo made their own engines, but next time I have access to a wheel loader, I'll check ... After all, we might be getting a Volvo WL with a Deere power plant ...
  14. I've seen enough 'bad' stories on the news that I'm leaning towards it being 'made up'. After all, western press is all about making the rest of the world look bad, especially in these troubled times where, rather than seeking similarities across nations and cultures, we have 'bigots' exploiting fear and sensationalism ... The paper article does not show any credible 'reference' ... as Turkey is NOT the cradle of such faith. Just beware what you read and accept, not everything in print (or on this vast internet) is absolutely credible ... Just sayin'
  15. Can't help but think of the several Unimogs that had to be 'sacrificed' to build the OP's original orange version ... BTW, the Unimog is no longer available from TLG ... gab yours while you can.
  16. I have read on multiple occasions that the dark blue panels and other technic parts are exclusive to the 41999 and never to be released again. Is this true? Can anyone confirm the source for such statement? If confirmed, I'd have to open my 41999 at last ... it is still staring at me whenever I walk by it, begging to be put together.
  17. I've had last three for a while, bought them new when they came out, and read many times on this forum that 8880 was on a league of its own ... My favorite has always been the Super Street Sensation 8448. Well, was lucky to finally get a very clean 8880 off eBay ... and must confess, of all 4, I like it most. Not sure yet if it's the 'new' factor, but for sure is one favorite. I just need to make room for it next to its siblings.
  18. I'd guess some forestry machine .... to clear trees/bushes or something alike.
  19. Very nice ... Studded bricks are back???
  20. Take a look at this photo. On the top edge, you'll notice a NEW modified 1×2 plate that holds a round pin ... actually, you can see 7 of them. http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/
  21. Olive Oil works wonders ... I use it in all my GBCs and it makes for smooth and QUIET operation. Not sure I'd try WD40 as it's a 'penetrating' oil with some synthetic additives ... unless I'm willing to sacrifice lego parts...
  22. There are few dominant colors in construction machinery. Yellow (or Orange), and Dark gray (or green). The wheels are a mixed bag, some companies make them in yellow/orange (Case), others in dark gray (Deere). I am not too concerned with the yellow rims. Now, when it comes to pistons as well (LAs in our case), there again, different companies paint them either yellow/orange, or dark gray. Thus, LAs in gray is not too far from the truth.
  23. I'm with you guys in that I like the set ... But at the same time a bit disappointed that TLG is just re-issuing so many vehicles. There are so many other construction type machines and might need to explore a bit more. I've been wishing for a flagship motograder ... In real life, such machine is full of functionality ... The WL will do though, but may end up in the spare-parts bin as the parts appear way more interesting than the whole.
  24. The car battery tends to discharge rapidly. If that is the case, then the car won't respond to the RC's commands. Try re-charging the battery and see what happens.
  25. Well, actually Volvo Wheel Loaders are the BEST in the market. A close second is Komatsu, but Volvo is THE market leader for Wheel-Loaders ... of course, this comes with a hefty price tag, but that's what you're getting with Swedish Engineering.
