  1. I bought mine during the May the 4th be with You promotion this year, so I didn't pay full price. But I have to say that it is one of my favorite sets. For the $180 USD that I paid, it was an incredible bargain. At the full $250 USD? I think it would still be worth it for me, but I'd have just a touch of buyer's remorse. But only a touch
  2. Zepher, when you said this is set in the '60s, do you mean the relatively conservative early '60s, or the heavy drugs, hippies and communes of the late '60s? Just curious.
  3. I don't think cutting the 1/2 pin shorter is the answer. You need to cut a new set of grooves in line with the length of the pin, and perpindicular to the existing grooves. Think about how you would make a 1/2 pin fit into an axlehole, and that should give you the idea, since the newer astromech bodies have an axlehole type connection on the bottom end.
  4. I received this e-mail from LEGO last night, letting me know that the Brickmaster program is changing. It's very vague on the details. I have a bad feeling that it means that the new subscription rates will be higher, with less of a return. Hopefully this change means that our European LEGO fans can also subscribe. Finally. But with no details, that is purely speculation.
  5. Sign me up, please. I took part in Shadows' PoP game, making it to the last day before getting axed. I've followed Dystopia, Hogwarts and Red Moon religiously. If it matters, I did a lot of Pencil and Paper and Live Action role playing while in college.
  6. DS sent! Now that's what I like to see in an opening round. I don't expect it to last.
  7. For small to moderate sized sets, I will open all of the bags but leave the pieces inside. Then I proceed to build in my easy chair, fishing individual parts out of the bags as needed. For larger sets I'll dump the bags into the box if they are not numbered. For numbered bags, I open only the bags I need at the time. If you really want to have some fun, try building a set you know well by feel only. At one time I could (and did) do this with the Clone Walker Battle Pack.
  8. Even though I was just an observer, I would like to thank Sandy for hosting a fantastic game. The effort you put forth really showed. I find it interesting that for once, metagaming actually would have been a good strategy. Not that I would encourage, or even condone, metagaming. But in this game it actually would have worked. I assumed that allegiences were random, as did all of the players.
  9. Thanks for the answer, Draggy. It never asks to hurt hurts to ask. I'll just try my luck with the future games.
  10. Which is why the Clone BP will have an ARF, a green Cammando and two Bomb Desposers. Wait, what? Overall I like what I've seen so far. I'll reserve final judgement until I see some finalized images. Getting three new Jedi in one set is almost a dream come true. The price will likely put this set out of reach, though, which is a shame. Both BPs look like must haves in my book. I'll probably pick up one Mando pack. While they would make a nice independant army (and they have a history of animosity toward the Jedi), I just can't see myself throwing my limited resources towards a large collection of them. On the other hand, the clone BP looks great to me. I'll find a way to integrate these alternative clones into my army, gladly. And if the vehicle is a good looking BARC, more's the better. Battle of Naboo looks decent, but I need better pictures before deciding on it. I really have no need for more Gungans. I'm not a PT guy, although I love the CW era. Try and work that one out. The V-Wing looks good, from what I can actually see. I'll buy one of those. Not sure about the Halo. The figs are nice, which would make it worth it. But the ship is kind of bland (but better than the T-6). Justifying paying for both the T-6 and Halo is going to be tough. I might jsut have to buy the MF off of BL. Or wait for the inevitable magnet packs.
  11. Why? Where are we going? On a much more serious note, I would like to suggest that someone host a "beginners" mafia. There were a lot of inexperienced, first and second-timers that wanted to get into the Hogwarts game that couldn't (myself included). And with vets taking up spaces in every game, it will be hard for these newbies to gain any experience. Just a thought. Also, I have the foundation in mind for a mafia that I think would make a decent setting. if anyone wanting to host needs a basis, come find me. I have no asperations of ever hosting one myself. Just make sure I get some credit. You could even pay me in LEGO, if you'd like.
  12. sok, I think this is the information you are looking for: Taken from the first post and the Mafia Games Index, respectively.
  13. Congratulations, Pedro! Late October will be here before you know it (due dates are almost always wrong). Just be careful in raising the little one as a KFOL (Kid Fan of LEGO): you'll have to foot the bill for both your habit and the child's Anyway, congratulations and drop in when you can.
  14. Sorry if I gave anything away. I didn't think I was saying anything that wasn't blatently obvious. I've edited my post to take out any offensive material.
  15. To be fair, the T-6 is rather plain looking. It's basically a semicircle, with a conical cockpit in the middle. Although there are rather nice designs on the wings. It doesn't even have any armament to draw the kids in. So it makes sense that LEGO would load this set with Jedi to draw interest. I'm most interested in the BPs. Despite the fact that I disliked the PT movies, I can't get enough Phase I troopers. It will be nice to get a few specialized troops.
  16. Edited so as not to influence the game. I can't wait to read day 10!
  17. I can't believe that there are only eight players left. Things don't look too promising for the Innocents. Being able to take two out at night really skews things into the Hallowed's favor. Then again, if they manage to vote out the Hallowed Killer, then the Time Turner goes with him/her (I presume), and the Innocents will have a little room to breath. Todays vote is HUGE. This has been a great game, Sandy. It's been lots of fun to watch.
  18. I have always assumed that the price was so high due to the Boba, and to a lesser extent Lando. Many BL stores parted out this set to sell the minifigs separately, which dwindled an already small pool of sets. And I would buy it at that price. If I had that kind of money lying around. Which I don't.
  19. Now I feel bad. A few months ago, I dropped my MF keychain, and the upper dish popped off. I thought about doing a quick inventory of parts, or some instructions in MLCad, but ended up just supergluing it back together. How handy would that have been now? I do remember that the center of the design was this 1 x 1 brick with studs on the sides (that should be obvious), but I don't exactly remember what else was in there. Except there was a specialised plastic insert that covered the dishes in the front. The upper dish will be the hardest to replicate. As far as I know, you can't buy the printed one on BL as a separate piece. If you want, I could try and remember how fit together. But you'd be at the mercy of my pathetic memory.
  20. I am not a fan of cubedudes at all. However, that R5-D4 looks fantastic. It's the first MOC in this style that I'd actually want to build and/or own.
  21. Well, at least we will get an ending, even if it wasn't the one everyone expected. It really sucks that Hinckley doesn't have the time to give this game a proper ending. At the very least, all the players (and those avid observers like me ) get to see how far off their guesses are. As a complete aside, this has to be the best line of the game, bar none:
  22. This is the first time I've gotten to see what a Roborider set looks like. The concept is kind of neat, but the idea of launching the front wheel seems weird to me. It doesn't really work as a motorcycle without the wheel. I wonder of Brickthing will be as excited over the first Galidor review.
  23. I own all of the 1999 Throwbot sets, and I don't recall there ever being any "official rules" to the game. I do remember seeing pictures in the instructions of shooting the disks into the case the sets came in. I suppose you could attach some rules to that.
  24. I recently purchased a new computer, and I tried out it's rendering capabilities. Her is the result; This rendered pretty fast, in around 30 seconds (my old machine would have taken 15 minutes before deciding it didn't have the horsepower and stopping), so I'm going to use this model to work on my lighting and camera placement. I should be able to add more images here in the next few weeks. Until then, enjoy this image.
