I would imagine a Doctor Who convention or something like one of the London Comic Cons (or other names) would have a higher density of Doctor Who fans. Apparently the HQ was being designed before they would have known about the sales of Ecto-1. I doubt they ever saw follow ups as feasible for the Doctor Who IDEAS set. They already did the Tardis.

Concerning the quality, they are fine. Similar to genuine LEGO and to brickforge and brickwarriors. The downside for me is that they only do modern/sci-fi and not historical so I tend to favour the other two brands.

Best way to make small quantity reusable decal designs
MAB replied to meepinater's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Something else to consider is that what looks good on the screen might not look good at all once shrunk and placed onto a torso. Some people put way too much detail into a design then it looks very un-lego like once shrunk down to minifigure scale. -
I think they look better as molded heads rather than regular. The noses and ears on regular heads don't look right to me, but look fine on the molded ones. If they are going to go down the route of doing it as cheaply as possible, it is probably best they don't do it at all. It wouldn't fit in with previous Simpsons sets, so it would possibly alienate people that bought in first time around and they would still need to mold specific hair pieces anyway.

If the acquisition does go ahead, I imagine Disney will have a lot more to push than The Simpsons.

That's right. Polybag has umbrella, original doesn't. The torso has (and still is currently) been available on bricks and pieces, so it is easy to get hold of one even if you are not in London.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think those are the only two (still) at the moment. If anyone does spot others, please post! -
I don't think there is much hope for it now. It is a shame they missed some important characters for whatever reasons - Moe, Barney, Lenny and Carl, Skinner, Otto - when giving us other lesser ones. I cannot understand why they did Edna Krabappel but not Skinner.

I'm expecting to see a lot more exposed studs. If this is really going to have 36+ nanofigures, then they are going to need somewhere to stand and so the landscape won't be smooth and stud free.

It is still not clear if they are. If they used the James Bond link to get people talking and it turns out that it is not James Bond branded, they have probably shot themselves in the foot.

Some will. And for the builders that prefer architecture that don't want minifig scale part builds, they have something. For the ones that prefer play sets, they have their version. The same subject can be aimed at different sets of people. Lego understand that not everyone want minifig heavy play sets. Understand that, and you understand that it is not ridiculously stupid.

If you can get hold of cardice / dry ice pellets you can put drop some those down the chimney into a small dish of water. Although it is heavier than air so the "smoke" falls to the ground unless you have decent movement to make the smoke move as it dissipates.

Creator Expert Cars - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation

That is what I thought after that tweet, but it seems not now. -
It appears that LEGO doesn't even know the correct release dates, so it is anyone's guess.

While they are British made, there is a lot of American money behind them. And of course, a lot of American (in fact, worldwide) interest at the box office which is really the key thing for LEGO sales rather than where / who makes them. Whereas Doctor Who is firmly British with much less American (and worldwide) interest in it. Yet owned by Americans, which is where the confusion comes from.

They had both #4841 Hogwarts Express and #40028 Mini Hogwarts Express out at the same time. So there is history of having the same subject at two scales at the same time. Not that The Great Hall by itself is Hogwarts. Plus sets that are primarily architecture with less play features and minifigure scale with more play features are aimed at different audiences. There might be some overlap, but I imagine most kids won't be interested in the microscale set if it is primarily display rather than play.

And given the speed that the James Bond group replied, there was clearly some pre-planned marketing going on. Without the James Bond license / link, it will put some off. I was hoping for something along the line of the IDEAS BTTF or Ecto-1 sets.

Considering extra pieces when selling used sets
MAB replied to InvincibleEagle's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Also the standard for used sets on bricklink is that extra parts need not be included. So I wouldn't worry if they have not been kept with the used set. -
I highly doubt any of those sets would make much money today, at least compared to modern sets. Yellow Castle may have fans in the AFOL community, but I don't think kids would want it. If they do a new castle, I think a modern design grey one would sell better. Space Cruiser - again kids want something with a more modern design, not a view of space from 40 years ago. Barracuda - a similar one was done in 2015 (Brick Bounty), but I didn't see it rushing out of stock. Monorail - parts are likely to be expensive to produce and while some people (AFOLs) want monorail to come back, it is not seen by many (especially kids) as a futuristic transport system any more. Nostalgia for those sets might seem high, but that doesn't mean they would sell better than modern sets if reproduced. I think LEGO does know what makes them money, they have plenty of data as to what sells. And it is fairly obvious they care too.

Not much, they tend to focus on buildings rather than interiors in microscale. But this a one off set, so it could be anything.

Yeah, with the context given by the crosses, it looks perfect for a priest.
-
Occasionally they do. I have picked up the Ewok Village Leia torso and legs but not head, and had a few different fleshie heads. But it is quite rare that they are in there.
-
I was going off the monk / friar style than the brightly coloured catholic ones. Maybe the robes from the judge over a plain tan torso and legs. To make it look priest like you will need accessories. Get a big book for a bible and make a cross using one of these on a light saber hilt or telescope.

Not really. The UCS D2C set would probably be worse if it was a 2-in-1 at different scales. Multiple builds from one set are always a bit of a compromise, the second model is often not quite up to the quality of the first, and probably more so if different scales. Microscale builds often need smaller parts to create detail. If they have to include larger parts to convert it to a minifig scale set, the build is compromised. It is better to do one build well than two builds adequately. Especially when the people wanting play sets are getting a series of play sets anyway. There is nothing to stop you buying the D2C and MOCing it into another building if you feel this can be done with the parts supplied for the main build.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I had wondered what that seat was. If you are building that tractor, silver or tan or even black would probably work fine. In fact, the all grey is a bit drab, and most colours would give the saddle a nice pop.
