  1. So only people willing to use digital tools can enter/win? I build MOCs with physical bricks for fun, there is no way I would dismantle a MOC, virtually building it backwards brick by brick, just so others can build it (and copy and/or sell on the design). Those would be 15+ sets here ... I've never really understood the obsession about what other people collect. If you go for licensed or character-led in-house themes, then minifigs are usually important. Whereas vehicle and location based themes like Creator and Creator Expert, with the Modulars and so on, tend to have generic minifigures that are not sought after. Builders win in both cases. In the latter, minifigs are just decoration. In the former, if you don't want the figures then sell them for 75%+ of the set price, giving you a cheap build!
  2. Yet people have no issue in believing and enjoying stories about all-female Amazonian armies. It all depends on where you believe the setting of the castle is. If it is not medieval Europe but instead some female dominant fantasy land, then an all female army makes sense. If you are happy to suspend belief about dragons, then why not belief about other fantasy too? Maybe you have a hard time believing fire is cold because yo are used to orange/red flames meaning hot, but what if it is green fire or blue fire. Then it could be believable that it makes you cold in a fantasy world if characters acted like it is cold. Of course the issue is would less people want to buy the set if it is set in a female dominant fantasy land (and I imagine less people would).
  3. In fact, if you think back to the Castle chess sets, Kingdoms, Fantasy Era and the Giant Chess all had one side with a king and queen, whereas the other side had a queen with a wizard so presumably the queen was the ruler for that side. Although that side was the evil side associated with magic and witchcraft.
  4. You also need to replace the dress slope to make it a but easier to fit through doors. Although that problem is somewhat realistic. A plain red 2x2 slope still looks OK. Any red queen would probably do, but the great thing about that queen for this set is the blue/red combo.

  6. You are meant to buy and build not build and buy! Building in the store before you purchase is the sign of a real addict. :-)
  7. You can still get the CMF S13 King and S15 Queen for not too much money. Both are ideal colours for this set.
  8. A knight missing an arm .... it's just a flesh wound!
  9. Yes, could be. And this is part of the play around LEGO, using imagination to make up stories about what is going on. I always preferred the Black Falcons to Lion Knights (although preferred the Forestmen and Wolfpack over those), so my view is somewhat different, that the aggressive Lion Knights king is off attacking innocents to expand their already big collection of castles ...
  10. Maybe that is because LEGO has identified that the people that want a large castle with lots of nods to sets from 40 years ago are adults and not children, and that if they are going to milk the market they might as well go big. If they made a $100 castle instead of a $400 one, would they sell 4x as many? Especially considering that there is already a smaller Creator castle on the shelves right now. That Creator set is not that different to other smaller Creator sets, with or without the Classic Space badge on the torso. If LEGO did a small one off castle type set, it wouldn't really fit in with the smaller Creator range which is very tech / space / vehicle. It would fit with the Creator castle, so if they were going to do it, they should have done it already. If there were no castle sets on the shelves, a one off small Creator set based on castle figures would probably not do too well as it doesn't go with anything. The danger here is if they remake old sets, they do the same as the new Castle set - they aim it at adults through nostalgia and it becomes another multiple $100s set. I think I'd prefer them to forget the past, and if there is a market for it then make sets for today's kids. Include Easter Eggs to past themes, that's fine. But if they go for rebuilds of past sets I agree it has to be more than just here is the old set. Otherwise, they will just be expensive sets aimed at adults with fatter wallets.
  11. The classic smiley was used for both male and female. So if there were no female figures in the early sets it is because you did not view them as female. Take this figure: If you can put a modern female head on it and make it female then why was it a male when it had a gender neutral head? If you hated it, why not just pretend it was female rather than assuming it must be male?
  12. Yeah, I had a load of excess helmets as I replaced their helmets and they normally sold in BL orders with the classic space LBG torso.
  13. You don't have a proper location in your profile, which is why when I posted to say it is in stock I emphasised my location. If you are going to say something is no longer available, give a location so people know where you are talking about.
  14. If they don't have makeup, lipstick or curled eyelashes then some people accuse them of being male and want more female representation. Maybe this was one male and one female after all.
  15. I've just checked. It does for me (in UK).
  16. The knight's helmet is the regular motorcycle helmet in LBG, isn't it? That has been a high value part recently, only coming in the S9 Heroic Knight.
  17. It is the same for the UK, existing but not purchased figures are showing it as out of stock. I've already got the max of 40 per order and another 40 on the way, so that should last me a while.
  18. Surely you could have swapped a couple of heads and been happy? Although if it was done out of principle, I guess you haven't bought much LEGO over the past five years or so since more female representation (in traditional male roles) in sets has been going on for a little while now. Not for the castle. I guess you are confusing it with the promotional set.
  19. I've got two on the way and I was going to go for another. But since the torsos appear in the big castle set, I'm hoping they will appear on PAB online and decided not to go for a third one.
  20. There is nothing wrong with that if they have lots of stock. I have some hard to find printed parts, ~10 years out of production. I have maybe 50 or so of them that I ordered from the replacement parts service over a decade ago and never got around to using. I am the only one in the UK with those parts, very few in Europe or rest of the world. I only ever list them one at a time as if I list them all at once, someone will buy the lot then sell them on. Every time I list them I increase the price as it helps me judge the price I should sell at. If I only had one of them, I'd over-price and slowly reduce it. However, with bulk it is easier to under-price, get a sale for one, then increase the price for next time and see how fast it sells.
  21. I don't know if it is possible. The traditional way is to redraw them them.
  22. I go even further for moderate historical accuracy. I swap the heads and hands for fleshies.
  23. Minifigs are important especially in licensed sets. What do most peoplecthink about when they think of Avatar? For me, it is the "blue cats". Without them, it is not really Avatar. I was a bit on the fence before the reveal, and against after the reveal. I don't mind the legs, it is the heads that have put me off. They look like some cheap clone brand, not LEGO. They are not traditional heads but also not as good as the 3D moulded heads of The Simpsons or Disney. They just don't look right to me, so I'll pass on the whole line. This is what the heads remind me of, although LEGO didn't make the nose 3D.
