  1. I never paid any interest on my Mastercard because I set it to pay the bills monthly. I only use it for situations where regular bank transfers are impossible (i.e. for buying stuff outside the EU on the internet)
  2. A picture limit? I didn't know... if I posted too many pictures, please let me know and I will remove a few.
  3. I watched episode nine from the first season - the Waterbending Scroll. I then decided to make a Lego version of the pirate ship. It is not only my first Avatar experience, it's also my first brick built boat hull. Click images to enlarge or see it all on Flickr also on MOC Pages (four screenshots are posted for comparison, copyright nick.com)
  4. Great review, but eh... hay??? What about straw? I don't think grass is mown with a combine harvester... To me the big size doesn't work, even though it is realistic... for minifig scale it looks a bit too chunky for me. For the rest, the set doesn't look bad at all.
  5. Is this the same material that the Dobby head (Harry Potter) and Exoforce hairpieces (aka cabbages) are made of? I never understood why those are rubbery instead of the normal material.
  6. Okay, I googled it - it is an American TV show that imitates Asian (Japanese) shows. Interesting seeing as the Japanese have a reputation for imitating everything from the West... It is very hard to get a basic understanding of what it is about. The Wikipedia page starts the synopsis by telling us that a twelve year old airbender learns that he is the new Avatar who has to stop an impending world war, I am just about completely lost, especially since none of the terms are explained... It's more or less the same effect that Pokemon had on anyone over 8 years old. I found a site of a Dutch tv station that has fragments. I must say it all looks great (much different than, say, Pokemon!). Nice decors, funny looking characters, great colors. Nice artwork over all - only the animation is not really great. well, I got enough to find something to build one of these days - even though it's still funny to make a MOC based on a show you don't know at all.
  7. I just looked at some screenshots and it's great stuff for Lego MOCs or sets. Too bad Lego only ever made 2 sets which are impossible to find... Now the thing is, I don't care about Japanese cartoons at all. Not enough to find out what exactly an airbender is. But maybe one of these days I'll pick a screenshot I like and make a Lego version of it, why not? (and no, I don't have either one of the two avatar sets, but I don't understand why I would need one for an Avatar MOC of course)
  8. There are Lego shops in only 3 countries in the world, look here: http://stores.lego.com/en-us/default.aspx that is 25 in the USA, 3 in the UK and 4 Germany.
  9. It is a somewhat limited interior, though... Your blue version is excellent. It's not a copy but very clearly inspired on it and with these colors it looks like a Greengrocer with all lights turned off in a long, dark night. Nice! Just one thing: Get rid of that yellow door.

    Mega Bloks

15 years ago? I thought Megabloks has only made Lego clone bricks for two years or so. I have never seen them in real life so I can't really comment on them. The only ones I have actually seen are Ministeck. They look halfway decent but nowhere near Lego and when you click the wheels on the holders they don't stand vertically but with an angle. Not a big success.
  11. I like the new map and it's not too IJ specific for me. I haven't seen the IJ movies so I wouldn't recognize it but it can serve as a generic map anyway. But for pirates it doesn't make much sense since it's not a sea map.
  12. I don't care if the models are ugly, it's easy to build a new car on the same base. If they're not very expensive, I will probably get one of those.
  13. Hey, I won! Well , third place... not bad, I'm honored. And it was pretty close too! Too bad that my favorite entry did not win, I think Matn's thin ice was a great MOC that looked just right. Mine was a bit too chaotic, really.
  14. But the guy is so generous. He will pay the shipping out of his own pocket!
  15. Oh wait, now I see. the 'getactive' one is the page the link is linked to, but what I bookmarked instead was the personalized page that I was redirected to...
  16. Oh, I had no idea.... well, there are no extra forums I have access to that I know of, but thanks for the warning. The thing is ,I wouldn't know because that code was just a random bunch of characters.... I'll bookmark the link you gave me. Can that link be found anywhere on the site too?
  17. I voted for Matn too (not even for myself), it's so nice and so much in holiday atmosphere too. And whoever wins, I'm sure we all had fun building.
  18. Almost the only way I ever use the forums is through the 'Today's active topics' link on the front page (the link is oddly missing from the forums themselves, by the way). There are so many branches and I have no special interest in any, I just want to read the interesting (to me) topics from all branches. So I bookmarked the link a few days ago but there's something weird there. It appears to change every day. Today it's www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?act=Search &nav=at &CODE=show &searchid=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX &search_in=topics&result_type=topics &lastdate=0 The one in my bookmarks is similar, except the line with the long code is different: &searchid=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I can't make much sense of that - leaving that line OUT doesn't work either. Does anybody know how I can make a static link to the active topics page? Thanks!
  19. Well it would be nice if non-fellows or whatever those ranks are called could have a flag if they wanted to... and if those guys of high ranking could not have it. But that's just my opinon - love this site but I hate the ranking system. I still will hate when I'm a fellow or vassal or whatever it's all called. I know it's just for fun but I don't think it's much fun, that's all..
  20. Depends on what country you're from. If you're from Europe I might be interested.
  21. Ik keep both buckets and balls in the big container with 'objects', along with shovels, brooms, swords and so on. I found out that that wasn't a smart thing to do. A ball got stuck in a bucket and there's no way I can get it out. It's completely stuck. Stupid innit? Little design flaw from Lego if you ask me... Can anybody help me getting it out? I'd love to be able to use the bucket and the ball again, separately. Thanks!
  22. Shanghai Chase is officially there for 40 euros. (oh well, 39,99). Are they nuts? 40 euros for two little cars and a few minifigs? I'll just get that lady figure from Bricklink and forget about the rest. I know it's a license set (but I haven't seen those movies so little do I care) but 40 euros for 250 pieces is just way, way out of line.
  23. Hey, I'm getting a GREAT idea for a MOC here!
  24. Does anybody have an insight on whether Amazon.co.uk will sell the Market Village, too? I 'm in Holland but I prefer ordering this set from the UK of course!
  25. It's excellent for a set at such a low price! Very nice review too, love that last picture. Baahh!!! It's an old set already isn't it? As per Lego.com it's not for sale anymore.
