  1. Quite a lot of themes missing from that poll. My vote would have been for Exclusives because those are the really awesome sets. Now I voted for Castle because of the advent calendar and the Market Village (even though that might be a 2009 set officially - I ordered it in 2008, anyway). I don't have any Indiana Jones, Speed Racer or Agent sets but I voted for Speed Racer because I have those minifigs. And those cars look cool - MUCH better than the 'Racers' cars. I have no clue about the film, by the way.
  2. As far as I understand it's a first person shooting game. It may be a smart move of Lego, which is primarily targeted to children, to not associate with that kind of stuff. They'd better focus on family friendly licences instead (and of course there are 8 year old kids playing it. There's also 8 year olds who watch porn and smoke grass but that still doesn't make it exactly family friendly...) If there is no killing going on in Halo, then I take back what I said (I'm not a gamer so I wouldn't know....)
  3. see this topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...465&hl=halo
  4. 80 euros! I'm so happy that I'm not into Star Wars!
  5. They finally decided - and I still can't believe it, I won first prize in 1970s en the 2nd prize in 1990s!
  6. I love the bandana in the trashcan, great! And a very nice chair, too. The paper airplane does not really convince me, though - I didn't know what it was until I read the description.
  7. As far as I'm concerned this site has way too many ranks, groups, statuses, badges and whatnot. To me it's all gobbledygook what's written below those names, I don't even look at it... Just admins and users would be enough for me.
  8. I have never seen that canyon thing before but I agree it's particularly bad because it has no studs, so it simply doesn't integrate with the rest of Lego at all. A bit like the classic cardboard road plans that came with some bigger sets in the 60's and 70's - just cardboard with roads drawn on but not particularly Lego.

    City '09?

Eurobricks frontpage talks about farm sets on the Toys 'r us website. I think this is U.S. only? Our (Holland) Toys 'r Us website doesn't even have a webshop, let alone mention Lego...
  10. Interesting thread. No, I don't like Bionicle because I don't know what those things are supposed to be and I don't care for those parts, but that doesn't really make them bad parts. Now here are some parts that have actually bothered me because they're bad: The nylon hinge coupling. I remember using those as a kid to connect car and trailer and they would ALWAYS fall off during play. And you can't build anything underneath, which is stupid. Not a nice part at all. The 1x6x5 window from the larger Homemaker sets. Brilliant windows on paper, also for minifig scale. But in reality the shutter holders will always break off. You can hardly find one that is okay. Can't think of any more at the moment.
  11. Eurobricks is the only web forum where I've turned siglines off because they are way too big. Makes me scroll forever...
  12. I hadn't heard of this competition before - is there a link to previous rounds so I can find out what it is all about? for example, am I alowed to vote?
  13. Cool! Except eh... the houses will have bricks, slopes and windows and doors, nothing else. There is an astonishing lack of detail in those cartoons - on purpose. but it would look like crap in Lego. And eh... how are children going to PLAY with those sets? Kill Kenny in many creative ways? Good idea... Won't happen, though!
  14. It's awesome - exactly the kind of stuff that Lego builds into their sets. I esp. like the fissure because it's so simple and it just works. The other one is nice even though it's not all that simple - I don't see how it works because I don't know what a 'spring brick' is? (I'm not very technical I must admit)
  15. The question 'how old are you to watch that' strikes me as odd... after all, how old are we all to play with Lego? I could imagine Lego doing licensed sets on this kind of shows unless it's extremely bloody and violent (don't know this series - I'm not into anime...) but it would have to be current and popular. Since they are making a live action film, it could be possible. But I think Lego shouldn't and wouldn't redo an idea they already used for a HP duel... it would have to be something new. Your background looks cool, though (even I don't like drawn on bricks much)
  16. I just ordered the DVD box of the first season, because I find it quite entertaining once you get into it (and it isn't that complicated after all... somebody just oughta rewrite that Wikipedia page. On TV.com there is a perfect explanation of the basics), and I see a myriad of MOC possibilities in there as future projects, maybe.
  17. sorry but what is MLN?
  18. It hope it will be another one in rare colors. Sand red is my absolute favorite, but a dark green house would be a winner, too.
  19. Price (How much is it?) Of course that's important. If it's 10 euros or less, I must just pick it up because I'm bored. If it's 100 euros or more, it's a well thought over to decision to actually buy that expensive set. Value (Is the set worth the price/piece or other value ratio?) Very important. One of the latest star wars is 80 euros for less than 400 parts. That means I don't buy it, period. Playability (Will it give you some play or fun - swoosh value?) No, as an adult I don't really play with it, and I don't buy sets for my kids yet. Besides, the whole idea of playing with a set never occurred to me as a kid. I built the sets and then couldn't wait to knock them down again in order to build something I could actually play with. I have always considered sets as examples to get you going, never as ends in themselves. Design (How is the overall quality of the design?) I always saying I buy sets for the parts, but I also enjoy sets that have great design, which makes it fun to build. So yes, this is important. Integration (Will it fit within my existing Tabletown or collection?) Huh? All Lego integrates with all other Lego doesn't it? That's the whole point of Lego, isn't it? Oh well, I would not get a Scala dollhouse because of the ridiculous studs. Theme (Is it a theme I value or collect other sets to?) I like certain themes better han others but I don't really care what theme a set belongs to. Rating (How do other AFOL feel about this set?) Don't care. Visual Quality (How "cool" does it look? or does it look like a Classic Town set?) see design - what's the difference? Pieces (Does this set contain special pieces that you need or want?) That's important. To me a set is mainly a box of pieces with a suggestion on what to build, so pieces is what I get a set for. Minifigs (Does this set have minifigs that you want?) See pieces. But cool minifigs are an extra wow factor, of course. Build (Do you prefer an easy or more complex build?) Don't care. Build once and never again. Other Considerations (you may have other considerations when buying a set). Not that I can think of.
  20. Great pictures! It looks very good and has great pieces - I want two. No idea when it will be available in my country, though - it's not even on S@H yet.
  21. I would have liked to see the old Gods (Odin, Thor, and a dramatic Death of Baldur set with Loki as the bad guy...) but I know it ain't gonna happen of course.
  22. I thought they were a duck (green), a hen (white) and a rooster (black). It is clearly a cock-tail he has, isn't it? And turkeys don't tend to sit on rooftops (neither do hens and roosters but at least they can - turkeys don't fly at all do they?)
  23. I eat out almost never but when I do Jasmijn & Ik is my favorite. It is in a funny location outside the city center, but it happens to be in my neighborhood. It used to be a Chinese restaurant like any other (where you can order meal no. 132 with either white rice, fried rice or noodles) but now the daughter took over and changed it into an Asian oriented culinary experience. Artsy trendy decoration and incredbily nice food. Oh, it's in Utrecht, Holland...
  24. Great review. Mediocre set. Its only assets are the cool colors (dark tan) and the hair piece. But the whole thing in itself looks a bit too much like a random heap of bricks that can be bought cheaper on Bricklink (oops, now I am talking about the price anyway... but I missed all discussion about that, only heard about this set yesterday, and 80 euros is outrageous even for a star wars set) I willl get the harpiece, though. And good to see that slowly a bit more dark tan pieces are popping up (even though almost nobody will buy this set so the market will still not be flooded with dark tan pieces...)
  25. Maybe that's because you set Bricklink to US only? Bricklink has about 25 of each kind (interesting, I never knew there was a 3 wide version, I have a number of those in 2 wide in yellow, white and red - red is from the Mickey Mouse sets)
