  1. Or a rubbery head - technically, Lego has already released an elf (well, Dobby the house elf), and that one had a rubbery head.
  2. Personally, there is no way I would associate a crossbow with elves. But I'm not a Tolkien fan and I don't know what exact mythical creatures 'elves' are - it can be pretty much anything as long it's got pointed ears, right? It's very much culture and language defined - the Dutch word 'elf' is normally used for a little fairy like Tinkerbell (or Millimy, in Lego terms). Something a bit etherical, anyway. So if Lego is going to come up with 'elves' and that's all way know, they could basically look like anything (and minifigs don't even have ears to make pointy!) PS the bow is not avialable in my country so I won't order it...
  3. I did vote bionicle but that's basically because I think it's horrible - I know TLC made a lot of money with it so it's probably a good thing they made it after all. I really don't understand how kids can like those ... eh... things? People? Robots? Monsters? I have no clue what they are or why they're all called Rahgrk etcetera. I couldn't have played with them as a kid. I wonder if they couldn't have made something similar but recognizable and good looking that would have been an equally big success. I don't mind the 4+ series, actually. The figures look okay, it's just a bit unnecessary because my kids, who are two, already master the concept of changing hair pieces on actual minifigs, so it's not like 4 year olds can't handle those. Bigger chunks for quicker build is not really bad for the attention span of a four year old, even though they went over the top with parts such as this: That's an entire wall! It's the same mistake they made with Fabuland - when those complete houses appeared, the Legoness wore off. Maybe they should have continued the Mickey Mouse series - those were great except for the unpractical figs. They were great for easy play AND creative building.
  4. I think it would be nice to have the Avatar MOCs from the raffle thread in the index, too. Should I start a new topic for my entry first to get it in the index?
  5. That's a great MOC, very good rendering of that scene! I just ordered the avatar sets from the US, I'm also planning to make some avatar MOCs in future
  6. building is playing to me. browing lego related websites is playing too, as is visiting lego events. oh, and taking pictures of my mocs and putting them online, that's playing too. so I play a lot - but I voted 3. (I'm a moc'er) because i don't play with it in the traditional sense of the word.
  7. Those were posted all over the internet last summer. Lowlug.nl had them on the front page, and other sites too - even regular news site picked it up. The story was that Lego made these in order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the minifig but they would not be for sale to the general public. It was soon dismissed as a hoax - don't know who made them but certainly not TLC (in fact, if they're ever going to do pop or rock stars, I doubt they will use Amy Winehouse as a role model...) They were well made, though, and I would love to have some of those hairpieces - but I'm pretty sure the images are graphic renderings, not photos of actual custom minifigs.
  8. Looks a bit like a random grab from a random person's bin of minifigs to me... it does not give a good impression of how the minifig evolved in general. Now if they put a lady with white pigtails in one of these sets, that would be something... well, who knows, maybe there will be an all female minifig collection???
  9. Now it fits that farm set perfectly. Great work! As a MOC I would normally say it lacks a bit in detail (well, after all the cafe corner stuff...) but combined with that farm set it just works great. Except, maybe you should add, like, 12 more cypresses? Just to make us all jealous....
  10. I haven't even seen one episode of Sponge Bob (after five minutes I'm bored and zap away... sorry) but looking at these pictures I agree it looks like a fabulous set to me. Gotta love all that orange! Lots of nice features. Only thing I don't like is how it appears to rely on stickers. Even stickers over several bricks - the horror! I normally don't apply stickers but that would take much detail out of this set.
  11. I'm not much into Sponge Bob but this does look like a cheapification to me. It could be a bit tricky to compare prices, though - how does 30 dollars 3 years ago compare to now? If sets have gone up in price in the meantime, this is a relatively cheaper set than the old one.
  12. Tintin is a nice idea, even though I never read those comics, somehow. Lego should have done Asterix ages ago - when the first live action movie came out.
  13. First impression: This is what they left out. If they added something like this, it would be a credible top end farm set. Even if there were not 3 cypresses in the set... Actually, it could be a bit smaller if those stables and tractor were all just a tad smaller too, just to not push the part count up too much... but this style just fits. The awning looks better in the last picture, and I agree raising the house by one brick might work.
  14. Okay, when I started building some three hours ago there was no rock climber in this topic yet... now there is, so I've got the second rock climber. He's less successful than Majek's one: He almost reached the summit but just below there was this angry ibex that did NOT tolerate intruders in his territory.
  15. I don't think you'll get new Avatar figs...

    Farm House

Nice house. Cool interior, love the typically German breakfast table (I have a table with a bench like that but I had to order it from a German mail order company - they don't sell them in Holland!) And that meat in the kitchen is hams that are hanging there to dry, right? I would like to see some more detail, though. Some big empty areas on the floors and walls. Maybe some more plants (if you have them) would make it a bit more lively, and some or other detail in between the farmhouse and stable. And those big grey arches over the smallish windows do not entirely convince me either.
  17. I remember finding a pacifier, and a pack of Ibuprofen painkillers.
  18. Do NOT click on that first link. It makes your browser freeze and you'll have to restart it with CTRL-ALT-DEL. If I hadn't had session manager installed, Firefox would have kept opening with that site and freezing again. Very annoying. If it was just a video and some pop ups that would eventually stop, okay, but if it blocks your entire browser it's just not so funny.
  19. I don't think I have ever seen that American remake (maybe some fragment but it hasn't been popular) so I don't recognize the persons... loved the original version, though.
  20. I think he means the ACTUAL camera that came with a studio set. You could film your minifig action and then play it on the computer. Apparently, the quality was so low that it was pointless.
  21. Well, I would have wanted a smaller barn & tractor so that for the same price a living part could have been put in, too (size 1 door 2 windows roof , basically...) As a kid, I could not have played with this without a house (I would have added it, no doubt...) because the farmer would have needed to live somewhere (and I lived on the countryside so I was very much used to farms)
  22. Make a trip to Cologne, that's not that far from Maastricht...
  23. If you use your Lego for MOCs you should be BUYING those old sets, not selling them! I'm sure you can use all those old parts very well.
  24. Thanks for this great review! There are certainly are a lot of nice features in this set. Some very nice details like the birds house, and over all the tractor and the stables look great. My main issue is that it's not a complete farm. It's just a barn. If they want it to be a playset, there should be a house. I'm not sure about all countries but over here a farm building has a house in the front and stables in the back. And it could have been done if they chose a smaller scale. Still minifig scale but a little undersized, as most Lego sets are, instead of oversizes as this one is. I'm also not sure about the choice for industrial crop farming - a set with more animals (sheep, pigs, chickens - I'd love to see those as Lego animals!) and fences instead of the big silos things would make it much more like a play farm. That said, I am happy of TLC's choice for more civilian stuff instead of only police and fire stuff. But I will get the separate red tractor and get this set when it appears halfprice in Sales & Deals....
  25. There is this magnet set - http://shop.lego.com/ByCategory/Product.as...n=282&d=228 Can anybody tell me whether these are normal minifigs set on magnets, or are they all in one piece like the keychains? In other words, can I use those hairpieces and Yoda head etc. separately?
