The 9/11 pictures would be very inappropriate if they were actual Lego ads. But as a clever and artistically comment on recent events, commercializiation, globalization etc. it's not so bad. To me it's like the artist wants to say 'We now live in a society where such an ad would have been possible'.

I tried it afer I read somewhere that it was something Harry Potter like except with an evil protagonist. I read the first few chapters and decided it was extremely badly written, predictable and uninteresting, and the codes in the margins were way too easy for anyone over 10 years old, so I put it away again... sorry.

What a brilliant idea! I am very much interested to hear more about the tribe shamaness, the unhappy viking and the schoolboy in peril. Off to cast my votes!

Exactly that is why I find this topic interesting. Of course I pronounce 'ufo' like a two-syllable word. Everyone does. At least, here in Holland... we tend to pronounce acronyms as words whenever possible. I know that English has this tendency to still pronounce them as letters so that's why I had been wondering whether English speaking people pronounce MOC as M-O-C. (I've only ever spoken to Dutch and Germans AFOLs in real life). Yes, I say Mockpages too... I think Burps were called like that intentionally, same as 'poop', so those will definitely be pronounced as words by most people. About AFOL: I pronounce it AY-foll with the stress on AY, so it rhymes with none of the three examples. In Dutch, I pronounce it differently: AA-fol (with the 'British' or European A)

Okay, then I know something you don't know! At 1000Steine.de there are still 1378 of them available for 1 euro each. So actually it's fairly easy to acquire many of these for a low price! Look here... I ordered four of them just so that I can blend in some dark people - I got most of the other heads you mentioned, too. I'm missing the dark flesh one with glasses.

Just to be sure... is being signed up for Eurobricks enough or do I need to sign up seperately for Classic Pirates?

Are you familiar with Bricklink? The Fire nation ship goes between 46 and 67 dollars. The Air temple set between 35 and 54 euros. It does depend a bit on where you are - some sellers don't ship to all countries (though you can always ask politely but if you are a new buyer it's unlikely they will change their policies for you...) I managed to get both sets through Bricklink for 105 euros including postage from the US to Holland. (I think 65 euros for the two sets and 40 for shipping)
-
I'm a bit confused - under your name here it says you're in Belgium but on Ebay it says you're in the US and don't ship overseas? Or aren't these yours?

Rather like bending air. Not pointless at all! Mirandir , I think it was a failure because the sets were never available in the first place except here and there in one or two countries. The target group of Avatar is more or less exactly Lego's target group for playsets, they could have made much more out of it then one stunning big and one mediocre little set.

Hah, you noticed! Bonus points! No, I did not... in the first picture, the silvery claw piece is supposed to represent the fish in the basket, just like the red scala flower is the flowers in another basket and the lime green round plate is the apples... or if you mean the black headlight brick + cheeseslope in front of the smithy, that's the anvil...

So, my white pigtails arrived! Some are slightly yellowed but for 5 euros I'm not complaining at all... and they make great UFOs! What shall I do next? A Virgin Suicides MOC?

Flickr I made a remake of the Medieval Market Village set at about 1/3 of the regular size. Here are some detail views - first the tavern, with some furniture inside: And here is the smithy: Here are a few close ups of everything thats going on outside - the blacksmith, the table and the market stall: Finally an image of all the animals (two cows, a horse and carriage, three undefined brick built birds) and the tree, and a picture that shows the houses when they are closed with the hinges:

Lego has just signed a big deal with Disney and Megabloks with Nickelodeon - now I don't know if the live action movie of Avatar will still be a Nickelodeon producion or not, but it looks like chances are slim. Of course I would run to the stores if there were new Avatar sets - even though that will be little use if they use the same marketing strategy as last time with Avatar (only two sets, release them in only two countries and take them out again soon after release -wonder why the sets weren't a succes!).

It looks great thus far - I'll look up the song lyrics (I only know one line...) so that I'll know what it's all about. edit: looked it up. Now I know what that gun is for! Why are all those lovers in black and white? Why glue, by the way? You can use traditional tap pieces to put those wheels on.

I just commented on MOCpages. I forgot to say that I like how the kiosk looks is orange shaped but still looks like a kiosk.

Brilliant little MOC!

Just Starwars? 65 euros... 55 for the Sandcrawler without Minifigs because I wanted all those brown pieces. 10 for the Yoda etc. magnet set because I wanted the dark face, the torsos and the Dooku hair. I'm not much of a Star Wars fan at all...

I don't have them in my hands yet, but I just found an ad on Markplaats (sort of Craigslist, Dutch version, E-bay owned) from somebody selling off his entire Lego collection per piece, but apparently he hasn't heard of Bricklink. I ordered 5 white pigtail hairpieces for 79 eurocents each... He said they were a little yellowed but in the picture he sent, they looked alright to me! And no, he was not that cheap with everything. Red pigtails go for 3,99.
-
Okay... but is that still relevant for an old set? I have seen it available for 80 to 100 euros in Dutch webshops (except they don't have them, they forgot to take them off their site!)

Hinckley, I see what you mean, I certainly agree on the chimney that should stand out. Actually I quite like traditional sloped roofs but I will try some less traditional the next time I need a little house. BTW, the interior in the first pictures is not the same house... the first house only has a kitchen, two walls and a roof, so I could put in a lot of details. For granny's house I wanted an exterior and interior and I needed a lot of 'action shots' there, so that's why I didn't put much detail in the interior... in a house that size there's not much room for stuff and a too busy background would distract from the action. Matn, well thanks! And I'm happy to say it does work well to tell the story... I have told the fairy tale to my children (age 2½) with this series of pictures and they loved it!

Asuka, It is a normal place in an old fashioned kitchen... I think old houses had an open fire to hang a pan over, and later on combined cookers/heaters were put in the same place. I can't find a good picture of and old kitchen right now but something like this: I actually made my kitchen off an internet photo too but I can't seem to find it back.... And that sausage is just lying on the shelf, the headlight is only there to keep it in place....

Very much, thank you.

Oh I love it! Is that another bit of the same track where it comes out of the water in the front? Now that's not a ride for pussies! The thumbnails don't work, by the way.

I had planned to do fairy tales for some time, now here is the first: Little Red Riding Hood! A story in 13 picturs, based on three separate MOCs (the kitchen, the forest and granny's house) click pictures to enlarge: ----------------------------------------- making of: at granny's house the roof and a wall part come off to look inside and take pictures

I think those chassises will be available through Bricklink soon enough, if you really want one. Or the complete cars... Personally I think the chassis is the only okay part but not good enough to really want it.
