  1. Well, you certainly have a lot of spare time! Great haunted castle, I really love the dead trees made from arms and whips. The sloped rock formations are great! The scaffolding is nice too. Great arch work on the castle too.
  2. Well he has already submitted it and entries close tomorrow, so I guess its too late to change
  3. Colour me impressed Sir Dillon! and indexed so quick too I hadn't seen any of your creations before, so I am very surprised that you kept your abilities under wraps. As you say, it isn't very secretive, but I love all the details from the drawbridge, roofing, hut, landscaping using lurps and the photography. Can I ask you how you get a pure white background when taking these pics? Also, have you used bley and grey in this?
  4. 1.SlyOwl 2.Hinckley 3.Captain Greenhair 4.Phred Great stuff all round, always tough to beat Sly though.
  5. Looks great so far. The blue is very striking and works well with the white windows. Can't wait to see the final interior. Cheers
  6. I'm not sure about your review structure, but I like to bold all of the relevant set information when I review. Cheers on good content. I like the dark orange torso's but the ship looks a little underwhelming, must really rely on the stickers as you said.
  7. Good for you! Honesty has a place in society, ill gotten gains are just that....
  8. Otherwise it would be called "petty destruction defender". I have noticed a few of these damaged lately too, must be the three figs in small set syndrome Seriously, you could have bought the set for the 10% discount and then ordered the replacement parts of TLC
  9. Trouble on the high seas! No not pirates, Breakjaw, one of Dr Inferno's Henchmen has captured Agent Trace. Breakjaw intends on feeding her to the terrible cyborg sharks! Will Agent Chase rescue her in time? Set Description Set Name: Agents Mission 4: Speedboat Rescue Year of release: 2008 Set Number: #8633 Pieces: 340 Minifigures: 3 (5 if you count sharks ) Price: 40.99 Eur/29.35 Pound/39.99 Dollars US/ 59.99 Au Dollars Brickset Bricklink S@H Box I must admit I really like the box art for this set, and the Agents Colour scheme is very eye catching (without haveing to be lime green) This is Mission 4 out of 7, with Dr Inferno's base not being a numbered mission. All out action is seen on the box, showing all the characters in the midst of good ol fashioned spy action. Instructions The instruction cover is the standard copy of the box art, I assume to make matching up sets a lot easier. Stickers In order to make these Agents sets really stand out, TLC has used stickers. I don't usually like the dreaded sticker sheet, but in this case I feel they serve a purpose in adding flair to this set. Minifigures A standard Agent Chase is included (hey, he's the man!) Token Damsel Agent Trace, and Breakjaw. Agent Trace features a double sided head, one losing her cool spy exterior, and the other in control of herself. There are also 2 great sharks in this set, which were a nice inclusion and spice up the ocean action nicely. The evil Breakjaw and Dr Inferno have fitted these sharks with radio collars and lasers (Dr Evil would be proud) Release the "Laser" sharks The Build The build starts off with the detachable mini boat, piloted by Agent Chase. This is a sleek, well designed vessel. It looks even more impressive with the cockpit on. Next up we have a progress shot of the twin-hulled speedboat. Rather than overlapping plates on top, the hulls are connected by technic pins. You can also see the placement of the steering wheel on the right side. This only allows a minifigure to stand when piloting the speedboat. A closer look at the speedboat shows my hand pushing down the docking mechanism release for the smaller boat. Next up we have the small oil rig beacon platform. It has Breakjaw's jet ski safely stowed inside. The side of the rig is ejected out using a technic push rod on the other side of the platform, also propelling the jet ski out into the ocean for a quick getaway. From another angle we get a better look at the side of the rig with the very nice ladder detailing using 3 of this piece , as well as a great look at the smooth styling s of the jet ski. Nice use of cheese slopes maintains the low profile of the jet ski too. The completed rig, shows the hanging Agent Trace in a whole lot of trouble. The top of the rig has a nicely constructed beacon light as well. Complete There is a whole lot going on in this set with the large and small speedboats, rig platform, jet ski, and two radio controlled sharks. The complete speedboat boasts a winch on the right side attached to the anchor/harpoon, and a net gun on the left side, which fires out a net nicely capturing the target. A missile is also able to be launched from the left side of the boat. This is a flickfire missile. A closer look shows that Dr Inferno must have a great dental plan, besides Breakjaw, his sharks have pearly whites! To finish, I present a picture with a nice ocean backdrop to situate the action appropriately. Conclusion Design: 9/10, A well designed set with lots of moving parts. Price: 8/10, Lots of great vehicles included as well as figures and sharks. Playability: 9/10, You will get a lot of play hours out of this set. From the sharks, minifigures, boats and the array of weapons. Overall: 8.7/10, A well deserved score for a great set. In closing, let me say I had a lot of fun building this set, with its many nods to James Bond and other spy movies from my youth. If you feel the same sense of nostalgia towards these movies, I suggest taking a look at the Agents Lego sets, you wont be disappointed! Thank you for reading. Cheers ISC More pictures here
  10. Let me start by saying this is a beautifully built siege waepon and castle. Great use of angled walls and stain glassing. I do have some minor concerns though. 1. As Sir Dillon mentioned, not enough figures. Perhaps take the Crownies and place them up on top to create a crowded aspect. Then also stack the Dragon Knights behind the battering ram, pushing it closer to the door. 2. The top of the Castle seems a bit too bulky. This to me shows the crownies can't get a good enough perspective on the battlefield, with which to rain down weapons or oil on their enemies. 3. If you move the Crownies back into the Castle consider filling the grass area with crops or a large brick tree etc. I know time is running out, and you don't have to take my advise, but I would like to see you win Cheers ISC
  11. Castlestrike666, I was looking through the map of creations and thinking your staircase has to go up two levels to reach the Throne room. So we can safely say that each floor will be 7 bricks high + a baseplate for each floor. So 14 bricks and 2 plates high on a 32 x 32 baseplate should give you plenty of room to deliver another masterpiece. Oh and the Dungeon module you made was on a 32 x 32 plate, I apologize about that one, though I wasn't sure if you included an exterior castle wall or not? Does anyone have any more ideas on Hallway designs? I may tackle the Throne room next.
  12. Very nice and detailed review KimT! One thing I found distracting was all the busy backgrounds in the photos. I can see you attempted to cut as much out as possible, though I prefer a couple of pieces of plain cardboard. This helps to foocus the attention on the set instead of surroundings. Otherwise a sweet set. Cheers
  13. Whitefang, its fine if this isn't my 9th review for grading purposes, as it is quite a small review. It will probably be better to judge it off another larger review, where I will have a lot more content to discuss and photograph. Oh poll added as well.
  14. Well he is on the Senate I think, so money isnt a problem LOL I would like to include this in my grading, but if you feel the set is too little for this purpose let me know. As for the Agents set, I have finally dug up my Agent Trace fig and will take the last shot, as well as complete the review in the next couple of days. The Agents review is number 8 and this review is number 9. So I guess if im able to submit this as one I may just become a teacher. On another note, I have acquired Sandcrawler and will soon have Motorized AT AT, and i will review one or both in the next month or so as time permits. Cheers I scanned through most of the countries on Lego.com when compiling this review, adn USA was the only site that offered it for sale. I agree, perhaps this was an incentive to get people into Lego stores. Thanks for all the comments, Merry Christmas.
  15. Were losing him! where is that Dr?! Here I am! what seems to be the problem? Welcome to my review of the Doc and patient set. Set Name: Doc and patient Set number: 4936 Parts: 18 Price: US $2.99 Exclusive Figures: 2 S@H Bricklink Brickset Box/polybag Lets kick this off with a look at the front and back of this polybagged set. First of all the important front picture, detailing the set contents The rear picture showing a smaller picture as well as all the text we wont often bother looking at! Instructions Lets take a look at the one -page instruction sheet. On the front we see the simple construction, and on the rear we have a advertising poster for all the current city themes. Parts Minifigures The patient comes with the standard flannelet printed torso and crewcut hairstyle, whilst the Dr comes with a stethoscope torso and nice ponytail hairpiece. Unfortunately no printed rear torso's Parts Lets examine the 18 pieces in all their glory. Nothing out of the ordinary for my collection but maybe there is something there for you Complete Build For obvious reasons, this build took all of 1 minute to make, so I wont show progress pictures. Here is the completed hospital bed, with bedside table and drip stand attached. On the side table is a cup for the patient. The drip does have me worried, as I don't think I would be too keen to have that green substance put into my body Next to the bed are the two spare parts found in this set. Complete with figures. Here are a few shots showing the complete set up with figures. Though this is a City themed set, its uses are open to all themes, be it battlefield medic in some far off space mission, or medieval witchcraft this Dr could be doing right by her patients. Here is a selection of likely candidates needing her skilled hands! Conclusion Design: 7/10 I like the blue pillow, white bed end and drip stand. Including a cup is a nice touch too. Playability: 7/10 Not a lot of moving parts in this set mean a lower playability score, but you still get minifigure interaction. Pricing: 10/10 Great for the minifigures and parts included. Overall: 8/10 Though this is only a small set, it has two minifigures in it, which is a bargain in anyones books! This is a great little set for the pricing. It comes with two figures, which I'm sure most people would love to get in any other impulse set! Dr you've done it again! All in a days work Thank you for looking. Cheers ISC
  16. I will not taint my beautiful hallways with doors! preposterous notion. That would have sorted out a lot of the murders in mystery castle though Anyway here are 3 more, though im running out of ideas. This one should obv be 7 high. I cant be the only one with ideas out there......echo echo echo
  17. Ok, I have started on the hallway layouts. Any more ideas are welcome. Cheers ISC These are all 6 x 16 These are all just basic, we can add fancier stuff later on.
  18. 1. 29. Exotrator - The Pirates of San Pedro 2. 36. Lord King of Everything - Die for the King! 32. SirNadroj - The Pillaging of Neptune's Noggin Lagoon Just all awesome entries.
  19. Looks good so far Buttons, though I would take the slopes off the top of the castle wall, as no one else is using them on their wall Yer like 2 days is giving us enough time!
  20. Well Im not sure about other Kmart's but I just layby'd AT AT for $140, oh baby, thats like $110 saving. How lucky. It wasn't advertised, just thought I would scan it and see. Merry Christmas Aussies, may all your Sales be cheap!
  21. Welcome aboard stenertje, I will put you in Beta (my team, yah!) and feel free to post up to five pics in that thread of your physician, no bigger than 800 x 600. Cheers Thanks for the thumb Thrash. Thanks for all of you welcoming stenertje while I was asleep in Aus The only problem with the hallway is the lion brick will be stuck inside a room, so it makes no sense having it on the outside wall of a hallway to me. I have some ideas for tile patterns that I hope to get up soon, but feel free to post yours here too. I really think the staircase should be at least 7 height obv to reach the next floor. Let the ideas flow people, we can make a voting topic for keep dimensions if you like, aaarrrr nuts I will do it anyway. Just need some time tonight. Off to work now. You all have a day from now to submit ideas for floor patterns, hallway designs etc. I will then make a poll topic for multiple voting. Cheers
  22. So many curves! Lego is meant to be square, man i am tripping out! I will have to take a closer look at all the details on this outstanding MOC.
  23. I have some ideas for the hallway that I will present soon, then maybe we will have a vote for the best. 32 x 32 please Kenny That will be a grand entrance hall. I would like to see the hallway too if thats cool, see above for how we are heading with it. If you have layout ideas for the hallway feel free to post pics in this thread. Cheers ISC
  24. Thrash that is a sweet barbershop/pie shop, I love the tilting chair mechanism too. I think Strawberry is right, you deserve a title like 'Single handed community builder' Or 'I AM the team' LOL Im glad he is in Beta 3D, as for the banana, there was no reference to Monty Python, as I have only seen a few of their movies and struggle to remember the details etc. I just thought he would look annoyed as the only thing on the menu was bananas and soup. The same reason I put the scared face knight at the back of the line for dinner.
  25. Buttons, its a bit hard for us to tell you what to create when you are already half way there. Though you may want to try Physician or Bakery etc. See how you go, but consider adding some colours to lift the whole thing. Cheers
