  1. I am glad you all enjoyed this review. As for how I got Darth, he was bought off eBay. Just as a special treat I have added some more views of Darth Vader and included a link to the discussion topic as well. May the force be with some guy! Cheers ISC
  2. Happy Birthday Imperial Shadows, hope its filled with M@#$BL*$S Lego goodness straight from the Empire to you!
  3. Great review Mania, This looks like a must have set for me. Great figures and a nicely designed drawbridge add up to a win in my books! Cheers
  4. Allow me to present my most indepth, glamorous, spectacular review ever for Eurobricks! Come with me on a journey of discovery as we see a young slave on Tatooine grow into an evil Sith. Starting weekly I will present snapshots of Anakin Skywalkers rise and fall in what can only be described as a "star spanning epic"! There wont be a dry eye in the forums, be it fleshie or yellow, you will be gobsmacked at how such a lovable character can turn into a force of pure evil. NOT! How about I simply show you the delights of the new rare randomly inserted Chrome Darth Vader in a Eurobricks Review I like to call.... Please No Fingerprints on the Chrome! Set name: Darth Vader 10 Year Anniversary Promotional Fig polybag Bricklink no: sw218promo-1 Set Number: N/A Pieces: 7 Bricklink Not since the release of the Chrome C3PO, has a figure caused such a stir amongst Lego fans. Allow me to show you what its all about. Packaging Front The Evil sith lord can't even escape a polybag without your assistance! It's like he's saying "C'mon, I promise to grant you three wishes, all you have to do is open my polybag." "Oh I have a nice shiny red apple for you too." "Go on say Bettlejuice three times." What could possibly go wrong? On the front you can see the 10th Anniversary logo in the bottom left corner, the staggering piece count of 7, and a return to the original Star Wars Logo top right. Rear Nothing too special to see here, merely the usual copyright information etc. Parts Lets take a look at the parts for this set. All seven pieces are laid out. You can see the lovely chrome finish for the helmet, torso and legs of Darth Vader, sadly there is no chrome lightsaber hilt, just the newer, half-half version that isn't full chrome or light grey just somewhere in the middle. Darth's legs come attached to his torso already. I assume this must make the process of adding the chrome easier. I apologise for the head piece as it has rolled over whilst taking the picture. Here is what it looks like Here is a better picture of the head Complete Vader I decided to feature Darth Vader in all his generations (well the ones I have anyway ) Left to right we have Chrome Darth, New Death Star 10188 Darth, and the older Star Destroyer 6211 Darth. I guess the Lego Company Empire has some more money in their coffers nowdays I love the way the light is picked up by the chrome, very striking! Even though the legs are attached to the torso already they are fully movable allowing Darth to sit, run, dance, etc to amuse most Star Wars fans when building MOCs. He just needs to figure out how to change his pants now when they get dirty Conclusion Swooshability: Well I feel Darth's aerodynamics can only be improved with the chrome body work. Take this picture for example, playtime has never been more fun! Darth: "Take us into Hyperspace!" Stormtrooper: "Yes my lord" The new Tie design was lacking in wings, but Darth's Chrome increased performance 10 fold Playability: Well his arms and legs move, cape swivels, helmet comes off and head turns around, what more do you want people?! Overall: Its hard to put a value on a limited release figure like this, however I am quite pleased with the overall look of the chrome on Darth Vader as it catches the light really well. So I guess if you are a true collector of figures don't hesitate to snap one of these up or you may even be lucky enought to get one in a Star Wars set in the US by chance I can only assume they will hit other countries some time this year. I have heard they were being given out at TRUs in Germany and Austria amongst other countries for purchasing a certain amount of Star Wars Lego. Rebel troops must cower when confronted with Darth Vader in all his chrome glory. Truly the suit maketh the man cyborg/jedi! Hmm, let's see what's next for chroming by TLC Chrome Darth Vader discussion thread Thanks for reading. ISC
  5. A very nice sneak peak there Hinck Are your buildings based off anything architecturally speaking or straight of the top of your head? The blue tiles are held up by this? Or some other way? Good luck, the display looks like a winner up close.
  6. Happy Birthday to my fellow Mystery Castle boys! Have a great one
  7. Only seven posts above yours, but please let us know of any future sightings/sales you see. Cheers
  8. No probs, you have shown great restraint. Stay on target for later this year, that's what KimT would say. Besides just go and buy 6 orc impulses and you have the best part of this set IMHO anyway. It certainly isn't in the same ball park as Brickbeard's Bounty. Screambob signing off
  9. I am reporting for duty! Man I am looking well cool if I do say so myself.
  10. This is a massive undertaking, but you have built a beautiful Fort Z, So many nice features, I am amazed by the work that has gone into it. I second that, most impressive!
  11. My local Kmart has for $35, and this for $70. Cutlass Iz, let me know if you want me to get the ship for you?
  12. A very nice creation, not bad for your first! Well done I especially like the troll riding the orc, or is it the other way around
  13. These helmets are great, well done! Are they a rough finish? Cheers ISC
  14. This is a creation of beauty! I love it, nice details all round! Needs a dust though Keep up the good work
  15. Those poor workers must have repetitive stud strain disorder from lifting/packing our massive order Are you coping alright with the wait? I know how you are always keen to get stuff as quick as possible
  16. Done and dusted before dinner Friday night! I am the man! Also purchased Green Grocer and Cafe Corner (it shipped today) WOOT!
  17. I finally found the new wave of Impulse sets in Australia, and quickly bought 2 Soldier, 1 Pirate and 1 Chef Excellent stuff!
  18. Thanks guys! They certainly did pack a lot into small set quite well, if not for the color scheme
  19. Aargh stop reviewing these sets Svelte! You are going to make me a poor man come August! This set looks amazing, just as good as the last two Indy ones. Better keep saving up for the onslaught. Great photography and referencing make this another top notch review too
  20. Wow this set is sweet, so many good parts for MOCing and excellent unique figures and pieces adds up to multiple purchases for me. Bravo on another detailed review too svelte!
  21. Duke this is moving along nicely, you have managed to show the tower reaching out of the rock really well. Can't wait for the final product. Cheers Not to mention they are made of lego
  22. Review: 6268 Renegade Runner This is a prize from the good people @ Eurobricks for winning first place in the Captains Cabin contest. I thought I would return the favor by reviewing it for you all. Set Number: 6268 Set Name: Renegade Runner Theme: Pirates Year of release: 93 Pieces: 171 Minifigures: 4 Bricklink, Brickset, Peeron Box No box with this bad boy, though I have provided a picture from the Bricklink database. Instructions These instructions come pre-loved, but work nonetheless. No piece call outs or index to be found, just good ol fashioned instructions. Random page of instructions Minifigures Come meet the brothers Ballast, Boson and Captain of the Renegade Runner, quite the skullduggerest crew going around. I understand the Captains torso is a rare one. A slightly different angle front on A rear shot showing no printing on the back of the torsos. Interesting parts/Booty Come check out the spoils of war! A compass, map, firing cannon, treasure and a red blue figurehead (Sly Owl mentioned this was an eBay sellers fault, all good though) Renegade Runner Just a quick shot to show the ship complete before the riff-raff climb aboard. Completed Here is the Renegade runner fully crewed and ready for some pillaging of small unguarded villages. Note the blue rudder and the portholes on the bow of the ship. Not sure how you would get a cannon to fire out of the front portholes though. "Trim those sails ya scurvy aardvarks!" An aerial shot showing the cannon, which comes with six cannon balls and two packers/plungers. The cannon rotates the full way around too. "How should I know where we are going, you're the one with the map and compass!" This Death Star Renegade Runner is fully armed and operational! Treasure ahoy! Thar be a chest below deck with all me booty. "Keep looking men, me floaties have to be overboard." "Ive been thinking of ditching the skull and crossbones look for something in pink, what say ye?" Conclusion Design: 8/10, Some of the colour choices are a bit questionable, but the design is fairly sound. I cant really comment on the price/piece ratio, but some of the pieces are quite nice. Build: 8/10, The build was fairly easy, just the sails which I lost interest on (no studs see) Minifigures: 9/10, 4 very nice pirate figures in a set this small is a definite plus for me!, though the two identical figures save colour swap did lessen the appeal somewhat. Playability: 9/10, With the compass, movable guns, treasure chest, sails, firing cannon, ladder and map this set has loads of playability, sure to keep me amused for a while. Shame I don't have a cat to torment with the cannon. Overall: 8.5/10, Well that's a pretty good score for this fine vessel. I like its design just not the colour scheme. The figures and great parts selection makes it a nice set to own. I am sure those who purchased this set back when released weren't dissapointed, I know I'm not! Hope you liked my review Cheers Capt ISC signing off. (Hey everyone else seems to be a Capt around this forum )
