  1. It should be noted that the twin-coloured pre-bent-arms : http://www.bzpower.com/black6/prototype/Piece_12_f.jpg Are for looks only and not building. They have been made in the wrong material, and can't be used for building, unless one does not care about ball cup failure. btw, this is the first Lego element I've designed/modelled.
  2. I don't think Tuma is or will be available in Denmark, other than from "shop at home". But I have no solid knowledge, but your experience match my guess.... I brought one Tuma to Legoworld in Copenhagen in February, together with Axalara and other vehicles, and the kids were crazy about them. Axalara was 50% reduced at Legoworld, and they sold out like very fast, properly because I swooshed one around at the Bionicle area.
  3. Bionicle is doing fine in 2009. On Shop at home new sets are available in Denmark. The vehicles of 2008 was not released on all markets. The same may be true for 2009.
  4. Very creative stuff you put together. Congratulations on winning 1 SW and 3 Exo sets.
  5. I've just built "CLICK", and the set number is 20012, at least that's what it says on the bag and the instruction book.
  6. I doubt that Lego is doing packaging in South Korea
  7. The total number of ball joints are 25 on the Mata Titan. 12 each side and one for the head. Quite a sturdy set, despite the height and weight.
  8. The Titan Mata Nui set contains peices of 10 different colours, not counting the gold/black spike ball. Add two printed parts to that
  9. My pick too
  10. lol, I couldn't help myself, I went and masked out the codes, both for Mata Nui and Stronius. Not that people can't find it somewhere else, or that it matters much.
  11. I don't really know why he has the colours he has. Maybe because the other 5 sets aren't yellow ?
  12. All 8 sets available in Denmark too. I guess they were added like today or yesterday, as I have been on the lookout for them these last days. I may need the big enforcer, but it's kind of big cash.
  13. As a part designer I'm not really designing things, just creating a part that can be moulded, making sure everything is sturdy, safe, and sound. The designer of the set, did let me design the mask based on the previous one (we need to keep the detalis at the front and the shape of the eyes), but we made it smaller and more rounded at the back. So it kind of fits the head better than the old one would, at least that's my view. I also like that the rear edge of the mask is not kind of sharp, like on the old mask of life. Then I made the scarab weapon, but here I merely only changed the designers first drafts, by changing small things theat would make it more sturdy or more safe. A weapons is basicly a 2D design, so it's not that challenging. But the designer that shaped that weapon, did a great job, at least in my view. There are a lot of weapons in Bionicle that has arrived through the years, but this is probably in my top 5 of cool weapons. Front
  14. lol, I probably should not have joined this thread. I wonder why the news aren't more specific on the sets coming, but I guess another press release will be seen soon, showing off the bright new toys.
  15. The ancle cuffs does prevent the "toes" to be lifted high, though preventing him to make long steps foreward. But it's probably not that big a problem. I guess he can lift his toes as high as we human can. The fact that they can rotate freely, helps in how much the feets can "tilt" from side to side. In Mocs, I gues this piece could be mounted differently on other legs, fixing it firmly by using the cross hole. But yes, I don't see those cuffs as ideal. Btw. the close up pictures are made by using 20 second exposures in a dark room, and pointing a torch light from behind through his head, to make the eyes light up. But I've also "painted" at the mask, weapons etc. from the outside, during those 20 seconds. So it's a trial and error, to get the desired effect. I guess the choise of bright yellow lid, may be due to marketing, but I really don't have much idea about what marketing is up too in general. I'm just a nerd drawing bricks :-)
  16. Ok, here is the much anticipated set with Mata Nui carrying the Mask of Life. This character will be the star in the forthcoming movie, Glatorian Legends, to be released later this year. This is not a review, but rather a presentation. It hardly makes sence for me to review something I've been involved in developing, but I would like to present some pictures of and information on the set. Please, if anyone could tell me here who Mata Nui is, and why the Mask of Life is something special, I would apreciate it. Name: Mata Nui Set number: 8989 Pieces: 52 Price: 12,99 US$ (currently 15,99 on Toys r'us in USA) Released: June 2009 Here is a picture of the box (front and back) and the instructions (front page and a random building sequence). As most have found out by now, the top lid on the box, is a brighter yellow than the one used in the actual set. Here is the 52 parts in the set. New parts are 1: The mask 2: The shin protectors (2x) 3: The new 6 module long ball-cup beams with two technic holes and a cross hole on the odd side of the beam (2x) 4: Scarab weapon, yellow (2x) and silver (2x). As usual there may be old parts here, that appear in a new colour for the first time. Here are three random poses I've put Mata Nui in. First a side view, scarab weapons all over the place. Next Mata Nui balancing on his toes. The shin protectors hang in only one 1.5 module bushing each, meaning that the are not firmly fixed on the shin, but may rotate freely. Finally Mata Nui aiming at the sky. As most 2009 sets, he has a life counter. The yellow hip protectors are mounted on the leg with a cross axle mounted ball, often used in suspensions of Technic sets. Let me hear your views on this set. Hope you like the pictures. Front
  17. Let's just say that Lego Ben 10 is something else, way different than what you all are suspecting about here.
  18. So how low is the current rate of £UK? A lot has been lost when the £UK and $US took a dive.
  19. Off course I've built it, but it is a month ago, and I put Stronius back in the can afterwards. After taking him out again, I put him back together (adding arms, legs etc.) and don't really know where I've put those light grey technic extenders (they are listed 3rd in the instructions part list). When you pull of the torso shield, these two extenders are not connected to anything, and may have dropped to the floor.
  20. Thank you for commenting. I should note that I realise that on the photos shown, the chest plate is placed one module too high, and that the light grey technic-hole tubes are actually missing. The cross axles should pass out through the upper two cross holes in the cheast plate (not the lower two as I've used), and there should be tubes behind the plate. Not that it matters much.
  21. I have no idea why it's a thumbs down. There were three parts that needed to be engineered for this set, and it was done by three different people.
  22. Thank you for the information on new colours on "old" pieces. I actually only stumbled over the grey torso, after I took the set apart for photographing. I think a dark red torso would have been great.
  23. I am aware of two things in your list, that is not gonna happen. It might be more, but I don't know.
  24. Here's a look at the 2009 summer set Stronius, 8984, a member of the Glatorian Legends, one out of six sets. Stronius is black and dark red. Name: Stronius Set number: 8984 Pieces: 55 Price: 12,99 US$ Released: June 2009 Here is my favorite of the 2009 summer canister sets, the black and spiky Stronius. I like the looks of Krika and other characters with strong mean looks, but add the black spark-eroded plastic of Stronius' mask and armor, and we are getting close to perfect. Here is the box and a movie add from the instructions. Sorry that I have too much glare in the next two pictures, but hey, it's just paper and a plastic box. The back with the six characters, and the 2009 Bionicle summer line up. The piece count is 55, but a lot of these are small connectors. The legs and arms ball-cup beams are rather short, which results in Stronius not being tall. But this actually goes well with his "fatty" look, that he gets from the wide arms and legs, the two shoulder armors, and the torso armor. The build is ver traditional Bionicle, hardly anything new in this set compared to Skrall and other more experimenting builds. New pieces are the three large black armor plates, the mask, and the two identical spiky club pieces, that connect together to form his large club. I am not sure if any of the leg pieces are in a new colour. Maybe the feet have not been seen in black before ? Stronius is well balanced, his low height means that he carries his club without falling over too easy. I tried shooting him down with multiple spike balls, but he still stands tall, well not tall really I had no problems balancing him in this running posture, but his club is heavy in the far end. Kind of how clubs are supposed to be balanced, are they to knock down the enemy once and for good. Here is his back, with the counter: Conclusion: I am not gonna rate it, but a fellow part designer at work told me last week, that he thinks it's the coolest Bionicle set Lego ever made. After he admitted that he was the one that engineered the mask, I said: Well your view doesn't count then In my view it's second only to Tuma, a set which I've built but haven't got yet. I'm a bit sad to say that the guy that designed this set, left Lego to work in the states again. Fare well. Front
  25. I can't, I brought the set back to work, to give a review to the bio-team. But it's bigger than normal, kind of huge. And I haven't seen a single picture of it yet on the internet. Stronius "review" coming.
