  1. No I'm not confusing studless with Studs Not On Top (SNOT). However it does sound like Technics builders may have adapted the term to mean using technics bricks without studs verses the larger communities definition of no exposed studs. Like I said no matter what you call it, it's frakking slick. PS: Really love the shot of the undercarriage showing the smooth bottom and the two motors.
  2. If you haven’t yet created an image gallery to put your pictures. There’s tons of options but a lot of the community is Flickr.com .
  3. Time to stop collecting and start designing your own. ;) PS: Welcome back from the "undead", I mean darkages.
  4. I hate to point this out but it’s not stud-less. Both of your RC receivers are exposed with 4 studs each. So you've got at least 8 studs. That being said the haul of the tank is slick! Also these quite a few axel tips that have studs on them. But still awesome tank.
  5. Yeah I was looking for it yesterday and didn't see it. So I thought it was on another forum. Maybe a MOD will move it for me.
  6. Ah I was looking for this thread yesterday and couldn't find it!
  7. So from the moment I saw the lipsticks I couldn’t stop thinking about this.
  8. I think if LEGO goes this route they should consider several ideas. 1. USB Sound Bricks to add sounds. 2. Compatible to current Power Functions battery packs and RCs. 3. They could even provide downloaded a sound free once a month on LEGO.com and after each month archive old sounds that could be puchased for a small fee of $0.10 for a single sound up to $0.99 a pack of +10 sounds like, Farm Sounds, Police Sounds, Star Wars Sounds, etc. Thus you have a customizable sound brick with virtually unlimited battery life. You can’t tell that every FOL wouldn’t want at least 2-3 if not more of these.
  9. The key thing about the first one of curse is number of bricks. This where PaB's will help in getting enough 2x1's.
  10. Yeah that's probably the most recognizable rock face in North America. (Excluding maybe Mount Rushmore.)
  11. A Lego Store Display _Publius_ (from Flickr) and I put up a Display Window at Sherway Gardens Mall (Tornoto) this weekend. This is my part of the collaboration. I still have some minor adjustments and details to attend to in the first few images. _Publius_ is making two small Alien Conquest style fighters and a hover tank/walker body harvester. I went ahead and made my own versions of the fighters and harvester, for the fun of it. They aren't on display at Sherway, but I thought I'd finish the original concept I had. The alternates were also a "plan B" incase _Publius_ was unble to make it last minute. And here's what we finally put up in the Lego Store: Flickr Gallery
  12. Whoa whoa whoa, I'm not over 40. I am young early to mid to late 30's! Though admittedly I got back into Lego when I was about your age. Although the female/male ratio is not balanced in the community wouldn't be the same without the girls. Welcome.
  13. Hello fellow Canadian. If you're in the GTA send me a PM.
  14. I love how it runs into the empty blue box at the beginning. :D
  15. Ah Mia Mia Mia, I mean Mara Mara Mara Jade Skywalker. Yep redheads what can I say. Something spunky about red hair.
  16. Wooley crap! That big one is nuts. Another completely out the box option would be using a contact wheel at the base of the large wheel to turn it. You'd of course have to have the edge of your large wheel flat, so that the wheel would maintain contact. Kind of like the way they shot baseballs at a batting cage.
  17. I actually do it regularly with sets under 200 pieces. I’ve suggested that in a Builders Guild instructional guide, as one the ways for builders to improve their building skills. It forces the builder to think of pieces, their unique shapes, and possible uses. http://www.thecabg.net/t207p30-lego-art-design-principles-101#3358
  18. Very nicely done. If TLG decides to remake this set I hope they see yours. The brick build bottom is a nice touch. My only complaint is the turret/cockpit should be one stud shorter. Looks slightly too big.
  19. Not completely flat chested. VS But you're right I find that "extremist" tend to fixate on minor details. Lego is growing as company. This is still way better than the Belville minifigures: You have to keep mind that females become more image focused than males at that age, and in general. My personal belief is that’s because what society/media shoves down our throats. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think this the most important question: Do you think keeping Friends promoted only among girls toys in store and not with LEGO will reinforce the impression that LEGO is a boys toy in general? I know for marking purposes it would best serve Lego to have the Friends line in amongst other "female toys". However I believe Lego should have them displayed in with the rest of Lego as well. I think they did this with the Toms the Train Theme in Walmart Canada. Made sense, since parents with very small children only would probably not be in the regular Lego aisle for several more years. Same with close minded parents, "Oh I only have a girl, I don't need to go to the Lego aisle."
  20. Good = Two new Lego Stores in Canada! Bad = Glued Magnet Sets. Lego = Fail.
  21. Nice job on the “hidden” power source.
  22. Some great shota there. Love the animal shots. Surprised the fish did eat your minifigure!
  23. Yep sure are from the Queen Anne's Revenge. Thank you TLG. Well TLG can't be prefect. If they were, it would because I worked there. TLG could add a little “Designed by Rook” to the box art or “Rook” sticker to the ship and I’d be happy.
  24. Not sure where in the big red sea you live but welcome to Eurobricks. PS: I'm wearing my Huskers shirt today, are you?
  25. Like the Force, there must be balance. Too many licensed themes starts grow exclusion from Lego. Too few and Lego will be run over by all the tots going, “I have to have what I just saw seconds ago NOW mommy.” I think Lego is fine with the licensed themes as long as remember to not over spend on special pieces and make decals that attach to only one piece. I love the colors used in the Cars theme but haven’t bought single set because they’re over molded and over decaled, and looking at the pictures it looks like a single decal tends to be over several pieces a few too many times for my taste. In general it limits the diversity of the pieces and set. PS: Thanks vexorian for quoting my work.
