  1. Nice set, good to have some new elements and some one-shots like that lattice net coming back. I would rate the whole thing "above average", since it's far from outstanding. The biggest surprise to me was the studless design of the big truck, while I can't really understand why did they need to make that 6x2 plate with studs on one side, when they could have used a regular plate and one bracket.
  2. It looks a lot better than this year's basic sets. And, a lime baseball cap!
  3. Maybe because they want to sell them out before the new Firestation surfaces. Plus, how many ordinary Lego buyers do know that there is a new one coming out?
  4. "Hard to find", but "Available now" on S@H for Italy. Still at full price, 240 Euros. And still around in local toy shops., for even more Euros.
  5. I changed region 4 times, still no result; on the other hand ben10.lego.com works, and I couldn't care less. Edit: it still freezes on IE7, it works perfectly on Opera.
  6. The official site is on (and slowly loading). Credits to Brickset for the heads-up. Edit: loading stops at 70%

Box measures 140x94x36 mms (5.11x3.12x1.10"); Polybag measures 138x133 mms (5.7x5.5") Box and polybag rear: It's funny to read on a 36-pieces set box "Designed for easy building and instant play". Polybag has the same words you can read on any other Lego polybag ("Contains small parts" in 20+ languages) Box and polybag content: Leaving minifigs aside, 13 pieces are exactly the same, 3 more just come in a different color. 7246 instructions: double sided A4 sheet. Including 2005 city overview on rear bottom. Click to enlarge. 5627 instructions: double sided 198x132 mms (7.14x5.03 inches) sheet. Including 2007 city overview on rear (yet this set is listed in 2008). Click to enlarge. Minifigs: Same helemt (a tradition in construction sets), same torso and hands; both color choices look good. Building (halfway): Boxed model looks bigger and more colorful. Building (complete): This surely was a fast building! We're ready for instant play! Front and rear views: 7246 outranks 5627 in length, heigth and accessories. Side view: An even better comparison shot. Off to work (with a special guest): Hey, look who's back from the nineties! It's the Landscape loader! Review: An everlasting classic over the first thirty years of the modern Lego minifig, the Digger/Dozer has regularly been updated; mostly a yellow vehicle, it can be also found in blue or red, and the front bucket has been larger or smaller in different models. 7246 is a "regular model", which means higher expectations from the fans, and they are mostly met. A seat, a couple of accessories, a siren, a curved slope brick. As massive as such a small model could look (and still a 4-wide in world turning to 6), it obviously looked tiny compared to the 7248 Digger, which some -including me- would call oversized. 5627 is a polybag promo, and if it's free, it's got to be cheap. But, as many other of its kind, this small set is not just a bunch of pieces put together; it looks like a compact version of the "main" set, with really few pieces missing (clipped 1x1's to hold accessories). A little modding using other sets' leftovers will solve the problem. The driver's twin brother works in the construction site too, he is the Builder in 5610. Both featuring big wheels and a large bucket, this duel gave me the idea that 7246 is essential to all City fans, while 5627 is just essential. The former has been around for cheap from 2005 to 2008, the latter being free for few and ending up costing as much as the cardboard boxed larger self (but still appealing to online buyers). In case you didn't find out... 13 pieces common to both sets are: Pieces that come in different colors are Rating: Color scheme: 7246: 4/5. Yellow has always been the main choice for Lego construction sets, and smaller sets need fewer colors. Maybe yellow and black with no gray could have been an even better choice 5627: 4/5. See above. Minifigs and accessories: 7246: 5/5. When the minifig comes off his digger, he has two different accessories that in the real world require both hands to be used. 5627: 5/5. See above. Plus, it was a nice choice to keep the jackhammer and change the other tool. Pieces: 7246: 4,5/5. A small set that doesn't come a piece short. Another "Hinge Brick 1 x 2 Locking Double" would have made it score 5 out of 5. 5627: 3/5. Ok, it's a promo, it has to be really cheap. But it doesn't even have clips to hold tools or a cone or round brick as a siren. Playability: 7246: 4,5/5. Very good for such a small set. 5627: 3,5/5. A bit more than basic, but it's got for wheels and that's already appealing to kids, isn't it? Design: 7246: 4/5. It reminds me of the Fire chief's car, (which came out in the same year), because of the raised cockpit. The "roll-bar" on the rear has been there since the early 80's Bucket loader. Still, should the Digger tip over, driver's head would be in danger! 5627: 2,5/5. As basic as it could be. Good for a free set (for those who grabbed it for free) Overall rating: 7246: 4,5/5. Nearly as cheap as an impulse sets, but with lots more! 5627: 3/5. Good for a free (or very cheap) set only. Average if you bought it for the price of an impulse sets (since it should have been free!) The final words: A serious town collector must own at least one of these.
  8. I read it like that's the date the official Atlantis site will be launched.
  9. With all the money coming in, Brawn could give so to Janson, that's for sure. Ferrari had another "what are we doing here?" race, but the big trouble was that Raikkonen was alone for the last third of the season (Fisichella ended up being as disappointing as Badoer). And, I knew that Toro Rosso looks a lot lik Red Bull (colors and everything), but Alguersuari should know the difference. Finally: hats off to Kobayashi, a Japanese driver who seems to belong in Formula 1.
  10. Italy again (Christmas sales are starting to surface) IPERAL (RRP) 7637 City - Farm 55 (72) 8707 PM - Boulder blaster 27 (30) 8964 PM - Titanium command rig 60 (85) 8635 Agents - Mobile command center 60 (90) 8263 Technic - Snow groomer 30 (40)
  11. That giant lava monster looks great (so do mini lava monsters).
  12. This set looks oddly "tall" to me. I like the 4992 firefighter promo a lot more.
  13. No more Indy? that's a bit sad, but it could be expected since Prince of Persia is coming in. No more Agents? One of my least favourite themes, I don't own any set yet and I hardly am gonna miss it. No more Bionicle? I should be happy, if not for the fact that as much as I hate them, they seem to have helped Lego rising from the ashes.
  14. This set is great beacuse of quality and quantity of minifigs. Plus, I bought it for 17 Euros and RRP was 30. And the firing system is awesome. That's why I consider this set "oustanding" (and lastyear's Troll assault wagon a ripoff)
  15. So can Europeans that are not in the UK or Germany. Still, watch out for "selected Lego shops"; I have heard of Swiss and Italian places where Lego board games are already available.
  16. Thank you for all your words (yet I'd love to forget Agents )
  17. The first time I looked at this set, I asked myself: is the doctor a pilot too, or is it the tie guy piloting and collapsing after the landing? Seems like I found an answer. I rated it "above average"; if it wasn't a buried treasure (limited edition promo set) it could have been outstanding.
  18. That stomping thing comes back again. That should me kids like it. Let's hope Tiny Turbos look good.
  19. I love most everythin from this set, even the odd head piece. My rate is "excellent". And thanks for the review.
  20. I rate it poor, this set makes very little sense to me. Still thanks for the review.
  21. Nice review. I'm waiting for these board games to be available in Italy (Jan. 2010, yet some very expensive shops seem to already sell them). I actually hoped for the new heads to be used in main themes.
  22. Earlier today, a friend of mine asked me: "Since in 2010 there will surely be no Pirates and probably no Castle, is there gonna be one Advent Calendar only?" I fear the answer could be yes (and the theme would obviously be City). That's unless Lego finally comes up with a multi-themed Advent calendar.
  23. Best: Medieval market village. No need to explain. Worst: Minifigs collections and packs. SW packs for being more expesive each year (and toy shop exclusives, so that htere's no chance for a shopping mall sale), Castle and Pirates packs for high cost and low quality. Vintage minifig collections for being hardly available and overpriced. City minifig collection for it was a wasted chance (if TLC didn't want to put 2 female heads, they should have at least put one female and one neutral!) Plus, most everything from Agents 2.0 and SPIII.
  24. There should be a topic in the main forum: "How do clone brands get away..." or something like that.
  25. Do you mean this piece? pic is link to the Peeron page.
