I love it. Great build. I have a ton of affection for that film, which I saw as a kid. I often quote "wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?" when someone mentions Dr Pepper. No one has any idea what thats about. https://youtu.be/TuQrgk0xLLQ?t=1337 True story. ;-)

Absolutely brilliant. Love it!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the positive comments! Today I added a different view of the scene as the overview in the first post as we finally had a decent sunny day here the other weekend allowing me to take some shots outside (it is winter down under). BrickCurve's feedback was quite helpful. And now, back to MOCing!

Thanks for the positive comments Puvel and BrickJagger! Haha! Would love to build that scene sometime. Cheers mate! How good was Warcraft 2! I played that heaps - loved using the mages, they could be devastating. Invisibility and Blizzard always caused havoc. When I think of that game I occasionally mutter "Farm's ready" to myself... hope that's not too weird. ;-) Thanks for the comment! I've read the Guilds forum since it started and one day might feel up to it - I think its a great community, with some astonishing builders. But I'm extremely unprolific as a builder - I've only built 4 MOCs this year and this is the biggest. And that's after vowing to build more this year, rather than just fill the cupboard with sets! If I manage to build more, I'd certainly consider joining it though.

They look fantastic! I've thought about looking into doing something like this myself. If only I'd known... ;-) Look forward to seeing them in action. I especially like the Dark Red, Dark Green, and Purple ones. Did you have to send the printer the torsos or did they source them for you?

Thanks for the positive comments folks, I appreciate you taking the time to do so. Yes, it is intended to show a transmutation spell being used to settle an argument over who has right of way! ;-) Yeah I agree, that first overview shot looks a bit static. I should have taken a slightly more zoomed out shot on an angle looking towards the soldiers showing the whole MOC as an overview. I had one that was shot looking toward the wizard but wasn't far enough out to capture the whole MOC. When I get the chance I'll do that - I shot this outside using an iphone (not using zoom - I don't have a decent camera but need to get one) and natural light so when we get a decent day on the weekend I'll take some more photos. Kind of like this but further back and from the other angle. Give Way To Wizards 5 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr Tragically I don't have any - nearest PAB wall is a looooong way away from the Antipodes and I haven't sourced any off Bricklink yet. I intend to try that technique at some point though, but thought I'd try this one first.

Hi. This is the first time I've posted a MOC on Eurobricks, and I'm a bit nervous doing so given the high standard on here. But I've learnt a lot from seeing what the awesome builders on this forum create, so here goes. This is something I put together a few months ago. It started as an attempt to build an arched bridge with no arch pieces and grew from there. Hopefully whats happening is self explanatory from the title! ;-) Give Way to Wizards! Give Way To Wizards 7 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr (Edit 17August: Changed the first pic to reflect feedback about the original overview being a bit static) Original Overview: Give Way To Wizards 1 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr Close up of the "action" Give Way To Wizards 3 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr Reverse Angle Give Way To Wizards 6 by Magma Xenoliths, on Flickr No special techniques or anything - just trying things I've seen on here and online. I wanted to build something for the local Lego show as I've never built anything for it before so that will be another first for me. Thanks for looking. Just have to correct you on this - its in The Crab With The Golden Claws. Not sure if this link will work: https://books.google.com.au/books?id=F1GnBQAAQBAJ&pg=PT52&lpg=PT52&dq=tintin+secret+barrel+passage&source=bl&ots=wfk7e6RJT9&sig=5ZdKCXMA7pzQDThihZpqOSfrm40&hl=en&sa=X&ei=MzURVevNKJGB8QXxg4LoCw&ved=0CDEQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=tintin%20secret%20barrel%20passage&f=false The wine barrel is empty and is actually a passage that leads to the catacombs. Oh, and fantastic MOC by the way. Looks great! I really like it.

I have to say in that first pic the display is just stunning - it looks great. And the truck looks fantastic as well, I really like it. The whole design seems more coherent now with the change to the tower colour. This is one of my favourite displays I've ever seen in the Sci Fi forum by the way, and I admire your willingness to take the suggestions on board and tweak it. Its a superb creation.

This diorama is awesome work - I dream of doing something like this for my exo-suits. I'd change the colour - it looks inconsistent with the colour scheme everywhere else in the diorama (more like a Futuron tower than the original CS grey-blue scheme. You could make the tower grey with trans-yellow windows for example... What lights did you use? They are very evocative, and really add a lot to the scene. I'd see if I could get flashing yellow or red lights as well - you know, a warning light when the exo-suits are moving... ;-)

An awesome project! 918 was my first real Lego set that I can remember, my first love as it were, and I still have it after raiding my parents house. But it doesn't look anywhere near as beautiful as your restored one! Great photos, great work. If you restore other sets, please show the results.

Great review with really nice photography. I built this last weekend and it was a real pleasure to build. A nice sectional build - very easily built on the coffee table. Once the main gate section is built its quite impressive to look at. I love the Falcon knight, but I do consider him a disguised Dragon Knight, given the colour of his tent and plume. But if/when Lego returns to Castle after LOTR/Hobbit I hope they'll expand the Kingdoms universe with other factions such as the Falcons. I have a second copy of the set which I might build next to combine them. If I see it on special I would buy more copies. Its a beautiful set.

Brilliant! This really is tremendous. Smaug looks great and the use of the gold foil works well. I really want to build something like this myself. "Well thief, I know you're there..." The invisible Hobbit is a nice touch too!

I'd buy this now, no question. Beautiful work. One suggestion I have though for your set planning scheme wave would be to have the Witchking in a separate set and have in this set as a replacement Grond, the battering Ram they use on the main gate. ("Named for the hammer of the underworld of old...") So you'd then have another different set with the Witchking with the brickbuilt Fellbeast versus Eowyn (and maybe Merry in armour). Maybe a horse for Eowyn and some scenery... But this is a great looking set as is. I really liked all your other waves of sets too.

Utterly brilliant! It makes me want to go play Wolfenstein... Great castle, great town, great train, and so many other little detailed scenes. This is one of the best MOCs I've seen. Its quality all over. You should be proud!

Very nice work. I saw it at the VIP night on Saturday and I think it was a deserving award, it was my favourite display. Which set did you pick as your prize? The burnt out trees near the lava flow are a nice touch, and love the detailing out the back.

Well that is very interesting... I'd say the odds are very high seeing as thats clearly Helm's Deep on the right in that cabinet. (which I have sitting on my coffee table at the moment). (EDIT: I think the final model is slightly different to the one on that shelf, but they are more or less the same design.) But I want to know what those sets are on the left of the cabinet (i.e. on the left of the pillar). That looks like a spider second from the top but I don't recognise any of the others...

I'd be happy if I had built just one of these and presented it... to see several great MOCs one after another is a bit overwhelming! Excellent work, I really like them. The cannon ball in mid-fire is a great touch and its really interesting to see the "brick" pieces in a castle wall.

Review: 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep
Magma replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I share your sentiments - I was a bit annoyed that Kingdoms made way for LOTR but I wasn't going to let that put me off buying some of the LOTR sets. After building Helm's Deep yesterday I've realised that this a really awesome set thats full of useful castle parts, as illustrated in the pics above. And the minifigs are pretty incredible, especially Theoden. The new horse also gets a thumbs up from me. I picked it up for $100 plus shipping from B&N and then picked up another one from the local sales in Australia. Glad I did. Half tempted to man the walls with Dragon Knights though... -
Brilliant! Absolutely fantastic, and the split between how it looked in its prime and modern day is a great idea, and brilliantly executed. Any chance of it making an appearance at BrickExpo in Canberra next month? I'd love to see this up close. ;-)

I received one as well, saying they hadn't seen me for awhile so here's a $10 voucher. I've also got a $20 gift card they sent awhile ago... so it may be a trip to Myer if the sale starts this month. -

You and me both, but then again I refuse to pay full Aud RRP for anything. I would like to see the LOTR boxes in person though, just to see what they are like.
