  1. I don’t know why Lego would be worried. They beat out Hasbro’s Kreons and those are no longer produced. Bridge Direct and McFarlane both have failed lines, especially with TRU gone. Mega Bloks is the only competition and that’s just barely. Lego has no other company that can compete anywhere close to their product or licenses. Lego should pass on a lawsuit and just let these guys take their chances. Then when Lego crushes them, it’ll set yet another example.
  2. Thrilled the non-licensed Brickheadz are still going, since I have all of them so far. I can do without a Thanksgiving one, since I’m not savvy on it as a holiday in the first place.
  3. At least if anything the Brickheadz line can continue in custom builds by the fans. With the exception of some printed pieces, everything else is common enough.
  4. I think the past years have had a better main “Santa” figure that helped. Santa Yoda or Santa Vader were obviously good choices, for example.
  5. I don’t care about leaks so much since Lego sets stay on the shelves so long. There’s no sense of urgency to buy - it’s not like I have to race out and be first in line. So in that regard, I don’t have to be in “the know” or first in line for pics either.
  6. Non-licensed themes means Lego doesn’t pay extra profits into those licenses. Effectively all the profit goes to Lego, which is a pretty good deal. And they don’t have to be focused on contracts that may require them to use specific characters in sets or limited their creativity.
  7. Excellent review! If I can find this set at a reasonable price I’ll buy it. The figures aren’t amazing, but good enough secondary/tertiary characters to warrant a purchase.
  8. It’s not clickbait and the material on the subject did not occur until a couple years after the buyout. Since around 2013, there have been no Slave Leia products.
  9. As mentioned prior - anything with “Slave Leia”. I read that Disney has pulled the plug on all content related to Slave Leia, so toys, action figures, etc will no longer be produced with that imagery.
  10. Star Wars Deathstar 10188. My largest set to date. Really fun to build, looks great, and has a number of good minifigures (and I like their old-school look).
  11. Brickheadz seems to really be copying the Funko product model with these exclusives. Funko runs exclusives for multiple retail stores and I feel like Lego is trying to drum up similar attention in that market with the same collectibles strategy. One problem is that Brickheadz needs a consistent pull, so changing baseplates breaks that up and ruins the consistency.
  12. It’s safe to assume with the hero count in IW that most of the ones on the poster that we don’t have yet are definitely coming. If Lego Batman Movie can get multiple waves, IW should easily be able to get multiple upon multiple waves. Especially with IW2 coming right up next year. IW may be the only sets Lego releases for Marvel for awhile.
  13. I agree that some texture lines on the employee shirt would have gone a long way. While I think it would have been nice to see different/better representation in the microfigures, I think Lego makes unexpected selections in what they promote. The same goes for their minifigure timeline. Still, there’s a lot of start of the year stuff to buy, so this was an easy pick-up for me. And I prefer this set for the exclusive/special pieces over the earlier microbuild promo from Jan.
  14. Just got Sanctum Sanctorum and it’s amazing. Even themough the minifigure count is on the light side, everyone include looks phenomenal. Spidey looks crisp and even though I’m more a fan of the classic red/blue, the new suit is one of my favorites. The back harness is going to work so much better on Venom and Doc Oct. Iron Man is even a nice bonus, because I don’t have one that has the screen printing over the face. I’m not super sold on Dr. Strange’s hair, but that probably my only compliant. Cull Obsidium and Ebony Maw both look incredible. The biggest bonus for me is all the extra bits. I’m really glad Lego packed four copies of the infinity gem in this set and two bags (one orange and one blue) of the magic/powers effects. There’s so many but types to really add to action scene MOCs and display. Overall, I was already going to get all the IW sets, but this first one really drives home how “all out” this line feels.
  15. Great review! It’s nice to see a licensed set with a very reasonable price point, especially given the big draw of Hulkbuster. Granted Proxima could use alittle more work, I don’t yet know how much she factors into the new movie (or even lives through this), so I’m not sure it really bothers me yet. Definitely a set worth getting to complete the Iron Man line-up and the Black Order.
  16. With Marvel really pushing the “First 10 Years” concept, as evident by their books and Hasbro’s Marvel Studios series, I wonder if Lego will do anything similar.
  17. Found an empty box worth at Fred Meyers. The CMF sometimes hits that chain first around here.
  18. The 2014 Sandtrooper AND Dewback only go for $20ish. I just don’t encourage a “buy now quick!” mentality with Lego these days.
  19. I can’t see this being double even on the secondary even a year from now. It’s practically a reprint of the 2014 set with some differences.
  20. I think Chewie has a great cartoony look. The forehead area could use alittle work, just to texture it out. It’d be nice if Chewie had optional weapons from the OT and ROTS.
  21. Is the Pod Vader promo next month different from the current Vader (with split helmet) minifigure?
  22. Target has the Teen Groot (angry face printing) out this week as GWP of $15 or $5.99. Pretty solid deal at the GWP, especially since there are a couple small IW options.
  23. Picked up Friends are Family Harley, Friends are Family Alfred, Vacation Joker, and Surfer Batgirl. The two boxes myself and two other people went through at the Lego store were pretty picked over of the more desirable ones. I’ll go back for the commons at the end of the month during the 60th promo. Thise four though, are really great. I like the double head prints on Joker and Harley and all the extra details - arm printing, double printed legs, etc. Another really amazing CMF series.
  24. Is the 60th anniversary plate in this set the same as in the other “Creator”-like sets? Is there anything remotely Exclusive with this set that I’m not seeing, because it looks like aside from the packaging, everything inside can be made with what you’d likely have on hand?
  25. I picked up Sanctum for $15 at the same Target. YMMV, but there was a healthier amount of Target clearance this year than last year, including some Star Wars TFA sets.
