    Once again, Eric waved away Throlar's comments and shook his head, like telling a child to keep its mouth and stay out of a grown-up's business. Eric feigned being shocked, playing it over the top, so it couldn't be mistaken for an actual shocked expression. "My, I'm not the first one to ask? So you class my as lowly as all the other idiots who have tried? Hah!" The Nord's grin sled into a smile which then turned into a chuckle. "No, I understand, even though you are wrong. I am the first classy one to ask you, though. I'm not some drunk passerby merchant or sad soldier. I'm Eric of the North. You wouldn't be the town harlot with me, you would be my queen, girl."

    The party paid for their stay and were led upstairs by the innkeeper. After a first good night's rest in a couple of days, the party woke up fully rejuvenated and eager to work on their lead on the missing servant of Ennoc. At the break of dawn, after a sturdy breakfast (which was included in the price), the party set out, leaving Farrech and 'civilized' Dastan behind them. Around midday they no longer found any trace of people or habitation around them. In front of them, there were but endless seas of grassy plains, covered with a small patch of snow here and there.     "So, you guys want to get some sleep, eh? Sure, no problem. I'll inquire with the innkeeper about some rooms and then we'll head out tommorrow. I hope we can find the priest. The steppes seem terribly large on this map." With a troubled look Orell lead the way towards the bar where the party waited to head upstairs to their rooms. "If you want to sleep in my rooms, it'll cost you 3 gold pieces per person, please, per person it costs 3 gold pieces if you want to sleep here."

    "Peculiar fellow he was. I had an interesting conversation with him about the gods of my people. The priest had come here to spread his faith, but it seemed liked he was starting to favour our gods more. He said he wanted to know more and abandoned his mission here in search of his spiritual self in the steppes. He wanted to live among the Polkung for a while, I think." The old man gestured towards Orel, noting the Eagle emblem on his shield. "You people here to retrieve the priest, perhaps?"

    Eric accepts the card and puts it away after glancing at it briefly. "I guess I'll want a room for the night, even though I kind of like the cold outside. Still, I feel my companions would prefer some decent shelter from the elements. How much is it for a room?" He then whistled at Saskia, trying to get her attention. "Where will you be sleeping tonight? I think I can make some room in my bed for one person. Especially one as lovely as you are."

    "Whaaat? Who are you people? Why would any of my dealings concern you? If it really matters, thought, I did have some words with a missionary a while back. Interesting fellow he was."

    "I don't really know all the details. I hope you find your guy. Sadly, I doubt I can be of help anymore, I told you most I know. Like I said, I didn't really know the priest or have talked to him. Maybe you want to speak with the guy with the mustache over there. I think he shared some words with the man you're looking for."

    Eric calmly sipped his Mead, largely ignoring the shouting tone of the man's voice. "If I'm not deaf already, your shouting sure as Hel'll make me. Calm down, farfar. What's got you so riled up?" "Oh, we're just a jolly band of merry men wanting to play some cards, so we came to Bric'lin to find ourselves a fourth man to play." Eric pulled closer to the bartender and said in a more hushed tone. "Between you and me, the dwarf over there really sucks at playing cards so we're looking to replace him." The Nord regained his posture and smiled. "Or the Paladin just wanted to bring the light of his god to this place and brush up on his ego. I don't really know what we're doing here. I'm just a simple man from the cold North, nobody tells me anything."

    "A follower of Ennoc? Many people follow Ennoc, but a while back there was some preacher kind that visited these parts to spread the word and Light of Ennoc. I didn't really pay him much attention. I found him kind of weird." "I guess it's all a matter of perspective, really... If people try to push Ennoc on the Polkung and they resist and rather keep their own gods. Who's causing all the trouble, then? Those who remain true to their gods or those who try to force their way upon others, even if the intentions are good?" "There are troublemakers. Every society has its rotten apples. Doesn't mean the entire people is rotten. They're just different. I might've mentioned it before, but I don't believe they would stood between the Empire and VIking invaders for such a long time if they didn't at least feel the slightest loyalty to Dastan." "Nope, like I told your armored friend here. Raauwtch! I came here from southern Dastan, in the footsteps of my family. My father is in the army and he's stationed here."

    The paladin was sweating quite profoundly again. He pulled his collar and gulped. "Euhm, yeah, sure, I guess...? Whatever helps us in our cause. I hope it brings us closer to our lost brother."

    "I'll have a Mead", Eric said and tossed the bartender some coins. Turning around, leaning against the bar with his back towards the bartender, he spoke: "So, quiet night, eh? Not a lot of folk in your otherwise fine establishment."

    The Nord simply ignored Throlar's comment. The dwarf was taking all the fun out of it. Instead, he went to the bar. "What do you serve here?"

    "They're quite rare. You can sometimes spot them during the winter in the northern steppes. Their fur makes for some warm clothing." "I actually meant the south of the Empire. Never left Dastan in my life, but I have heard of Eubric. I mean, who hasn't? Kind of weird that some Eubric folk come all the way here for some business with the steppe barbarians." "You need to talk to them? What's so important? Rooms can be rent here, by the way. Just ask the bartender."

    "The Sorceror is still in charge, but perhaps you missed that part when you lay knocked out on the floor again. Don't worry, little one. It's all going to be fine." Eric nodded and smirked. "See, you heard him. He's the 'leader' of this merry band." The Nord made sure to use air quotes when saying 'leader', just to spite both Heckz and Throlar in a childish way.

    "Can't really give you any pointers. They're all about honor and horses and stuff, you know. Do you have business with them?"

    "Well that was a lousy performance. Let's not talk about it again." Eric said as he scratched his head. He narrowed his eyes to take a look at the sign in the fog, but he still couldn't make out what it read, so he went closer to investigate.

    "About five years, I guess. My dad's an army man, so our family lives here, too. I did like life in the south more, though." "I've been north of Farrech before. The Polkung aren't so bad as people make out sometimes. Many of them are actually okay, it's just like with everybody that you sometimes have hardliners. They're descendants of the Vikings alright, but they've lived as a part of the Empire for so long, I can hardly believe they'd actually turn their back on us." "It's not the people I'm afraid of, the steppes are just a dangerous place in general for a girl like me. You need to be used to living there if you want to survive. Of course, there's the occasional marauder, too... I'm afraid I'm not being much of a help here, am I?" "Yeah, but not as good as the final cries of dying sabretooth cat, though. Damn, music to my ears that is."

    "Gee, looks like I'm talking to a bona fide slayer here. My name is Katerin. What's yours? Liking Farrech so far, armor boy?"

    Yeah, leaving Throlar would probably be the most RP thing to do . But then Lord Duvors would most likely not see the end of the quest again, which isn't really fun for him.. But yeah, we should've let him rot! :devil:

    Whoops! I read my inventory over multiple times, but I never saw I have a Phoenix Essence, too. I'll change my action and revive Throlar, so we can get out. The cloak was cool loot, but other than that it's not worth the resources we'd have to spent to deal with these guys. Eric grunted and looked pitiful at the fallen dwarf. Over the last quests, the Nord had seen the dwarf laying face-down on the floor than he had seen him fight. Reluctantly Eric took out his one Phoenix Essence, remembering how Throlar stabbed the party in the back last time they had stuck out their neck for him. "Here", the Nord said, "Get up. And you will pay this back, dwarf" Eric uses a Phoenix Essence on Throlar.

    "Damn it! Curses!", Eric grunted under his breath as his clenched his side with his hand. "We're not really having the most of luck here, have we? Anyone has any ideas?" He shook his head as the dwarf went down. "The stunty was the only one with a Phoenix Essence, I take it?" Erics uncorks one of his Grand Potions and drinks it. You forgot to add the Confused-effect to the horse's stats, I believe.

    QM Note: Actually, the captain of Farrech told you you could ask around for more information at the inn, to find out if anyone knows more about the missionary . So the goal of the inn is to question townspeople (but you can sleep here, too, if you want, just ask the innkeeper. Sorry if I wasn't clear .
