I think it was sort of sideways mentioned as "those other things we don't like to talk about." I think one of the graphics was for Galidor.

It's a decent price on the set. Pretty much any Castle set is great at MSRP. And Kingdoms is generally felt to be the "crowning" sub theme of the line. While the King's Carriage Ambush is not the best of the line up. It is a neat set. The carriage is a bit big, in much the same way that the LR Stagecoach feels a bit large. But it is great. 2 horses. The King. A nice mix of the Red and Gold Lions and the Green Dragons. And even some fun trees. It feels like a whole complete little story. And seems to really tell the tale of the noble Lion Knights and the more down on their luck Green Dragons who have been pretty much reduced to banditry better than just about any other Kingdoms set save perhaps the Mill Village Raid. (and if you are lucky enough to see that set at retail at Barnes and Noble GRAB IT IMMEDIATELY)

Discontinuation of “Grab Bags” in LEGO Brand Retail
Faefrost replied to Bricksan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I heard a rumor of one of the real reasons that they discontinued the grab bags. It wasn't really the reselling of possibly used product such as from returns. Apparently it could be too easily exploited at the store level for merchandise loss and internal theft, and they had a lot of problems. or at least enough that it forced them to stop the grab bags. Basically the bags were being filled from badly damaged box sets or opened store returns. A few clever employees figured this out and set up a process to deliberately badly damage sets and part them out into the bags at a deep discount. You will also notice that not all stores have "damaged box" tables anymore. Damaged boxes now go back to the distribution hub where they are bundled up, inventoried and then sent as a block to the stores that offer the damaged box clearance. So the stores do not sell off their own damaged goods any more. -
What is your least favourite Super Heroes set and why?
Faefrost replied to Godtshep's topic in LEGO Licensed
For me it's a toss up between The Iron Man 3 Mandarin Ultimate Showdown (flame throwing ride on mower piloted by a homeless dude. Funny how our initial impressions on seeing that fig turned out to be oddly right?) vs the Man of Steel Metropolis Showdown. of the two the Superman set is the most worthless as it has figs that you can get in any of the other sets. But at least the little yellow car is not too horrid and it is loosely something from the movie. if you ignore that fact that they destroyed the entire city in the actual scene. I mean the car is more intact than Metropolis and Smallville combined. Whereas the Iron Man set benefits from having a unique IM armor Heartbreaker, and a slightly different Trevor. But dear god The set is like some weird act of badly hopeful yet highly underwelming fanfiction. It really is a Homeless guy riding a weaponized shopping cart facing off against Iron Man... who is wearing his special heavy artillery suit to meet the challenge. (Hey folks set your calenders for Iron Man 4 Summer 2016. Iron Man dons his Hulkbuster armor to take on the Norwegian Special Olympics Team! It's gonna be epic! Lego sets available for Christmas 2015.) As far as some of the other newer sets? The Joker Steamroller set isn't that bad. The figs are great and the Steamroller is an inventive and unique build. And oddly creepy to display. The bat plane is however pure garbage. The Spider Trike at least benefits from having one of the years coolers figs. Electro. Otherwise it would be top of the list. The Spider Copter only avoids the list for having that truly adorable (and comic accurate) Mary Jane fig. And that really cool Abomination for the hulk to figh... what?... What do you mean that's not the Abomination?... well who else could it be? A super skrull maybe?... The Green Bloddy Goblin! Are you Megabloking me?!?!?! Well at least the Power Man fig is alright I guess... what do you mean it's NOT Luke Cage!?!?!?! -
They are fairly high quality rubber bands, but they are still rubber bands and will behave as such. They will eventually dry crack and break. When that happens simply replace them. They're rubber bands. It's not like Lego actually makes them. Just from looking at the ones that come it looks like Lego does use high quality bands, not unlike those found in medical and dental use, and not the simple cheap ones you get in the stationary aisle.

That is what are known as market forces. Which operate via an equilibrium between informed consumers and morons. This seller is obviously targeting the moron market.
-
Yeah. The safe suspicion is rather than make new packaging and a custom fig, they are just stuffing the Existing Legolas Polybad into the set box with the BluRay.
-
I'm taking that headpiece as a sign we may be seeing a few yearned for yet unexpected figs pop up in the Super Heroes line. If nothing else it just screams Fantastic Four set. And like you I am already drooling over it for use in a few MOCs. I'm working on a Dr. Stranges Mansion MOC, and that nicely allows for a Dread Dormamu minifig. Woohoo!
-
It might be. I have the BluRay, and didn't realize it might not be on the DVD.

If you don't have to read them on their day of release, and just want to pick and choose stories and such, the digital versions of the comics can be much cheaper. Like $1-2 per. Steep but still a lot better than $4. Most of the publishers use Comixology.com

It probably should say "custom", but there does not seem to be anything overtly fraudulent there. As long as the pics you see are the fig you get. It's a weird situation. Benny is by definition a representation of the classic 80's blue space man. And they are selling you a classic 80's spaceman (apparently in quite good shape) as a representation of Benny. It kinda makes your head hurt, but I don't think there is enough there to even get EBay to pull the auction.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Faefrost replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah. Just to remind everybody. This does not mean Lego is actively seeking a Dr. Who license. Just that the property is available. I honestly don't think that this is one that Lego would seek to pursue as a regular license. Still just a bit niche. But it would probably work exceptionally well as a limited project such as CuuSoo. So don't put up a wish list of what a Dr. Who theme has to have. Design it, put it up on CuuSoo and let us all start voting. -
Isn't that the video game release date?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Faefrost replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Is it just me, or does equipping the Foot soldiers with shotguns just seem a tad.. I dunno... Un ninja'ish? The lair looks to be the most versatile set of the bunch. Pretty generic underground secret lair type place. You could probably even make it work as the Batcave if you wanted? And yeah splinter looks kinda awful. Did Chima suddenly come out with a Rabid Gerbil tribe that they borrowed a mold from? -

The gigantic pincer hands could go a long way to explain the lack of nose and ears. (also the lack of urinals in Lego city) -
OMG! I am laughing my butt off. If you happen to pick up the Thor 2 DVD, make sure you watch the "Marvel One Shot" that comes on it,"All Hail the King". It is a rip. And watch it all the way through. There are a few scenes buried in the credits. Not to spoil anything, but it nicely deals with a few hanging threads from IM 2 and IM3. Plus more Tevor is never a bad thing.

I think there was a core user related flaw with using the box top as a build plate. Once the child uses it to build something on, you can no longer use it to keep the remaining Lego in the box. At least not until the child finishes with it. Better to separate the build plate from the Lego containment receptacle.

Because making all figs "unisex" like in the old ways can conceivably be viewed as worse? In most cases when anything becomes unisex, all it is really doing is masking female secondary sex characteristics. You effectively make women invisible or at the least not distinctive. Female characteristics are not something to be shown. In men the waist and hips are the same width and the center of gravity resides at the waist. (Only deviating from this in the occurrences of gross morbid obesity and near starvation) in women the waist is higher and narrower than the hips, while the center of gravity resides at the hips. (Once again excepting the far extreme reaches of obesity). This is not "gender". This is biology. There is nothing wrong with designing representative figures to reflect both of these core physiological body types. Lego actually has gotten quite good at this sort of thing. They reasonably represent females secondary sex characteristics in a very respectful and straightforward way. "Yes they have breasts and hips, what of it? Nothing to be ashamed of, or embarrassed about or even ask weird questions about here." Fisher Price also used to be very good about this sort of thing back with their 3 1/2" adventure people line. Also what in the end is the better lesson, especially for the young male friends of Lego? That "you can sex select your Minifigs?" Or that "at the end of the day you have to play with girls too, so deal with it?" Edit: as far as "Men have curves too". No they really don't. Even when men put on weight, their waist will be the thing broader than their hips. ( ). Whereas even when most women put on weight their hips remain wider than their waist. ) (. The only real exception to that is pregnancy. And I don't think any of us are quite ready for a pregnant minifig. -
Polybags are considered more Promotional or vendor exclusive items. Notice how you do not see most of them for sale at S@H? They are more their own special category, and probably fall specifically under the license as a marketing tool. I would speculate that there are clear limits on how many they can do per wave, and how or where they can be sold. TLG cannot simply convert them into something akin to a CMF line without it being specified in the license. In this regard LotR's may have lost out by being to early. After the Lego Movie and Simpsons CMF line, not to mention some of KreO and Megablok's licensed series, I would not be surprised to see more IP holders specifically wanting a CMF or Polybag line.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Faefrost replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Some interesting new news creeped out today. We now have a clear example of what happens with regard to CuuSoo, when a previous license conflict that disallowed a project is resolved. (GlenBricker spotted this one and posted it on his blog http://blog.brick-hero.com ) From the CuuSoo knowledge base. http://legocuusoo.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/325064-license-conflicts-and-resolutions Sometimes we have to turn down project submissions that refer to specific brands or licensed properties. We do this to avoid getting your hopes up for something we know we aren't able to make. In these cases, we already know the LEGO Group can't secure licensing rights to produce construction toys based on a particular brand or property, due to a conflicting interest with a third party. If such a conflict goes away, we'll then be able to accept projects based on a particular brand or license. The Fine Print: If your project was previously turned down, archived, or deleted due to a licensing conflict that is now resolved, you may re-submit it as a new project. Supporters from past projects cannot be applied to a future project. Resolved Past Licensing Conflicts We now welcome projects based on the following licenses that used to have conflicts: Doctor Who - February 2014 Last updated February 25, 2014 So at a minimum Dr. Who is now back on the table as Character Builder appears to have lost it. My suspicion is this will only effect projects that were archived or turned down prior to review. I'm guessing that this probably does not apply to Projects that made it to 10k and did receive a full formal review. So the MWT is probably still off the table. -
That was actually in the Frank Miller comic. It was a rather ham handed and contemporaneous commentary on Reagan. It's one of those things that made more sense in the 80's with the Cold War in full swing and really lacks much of the context for it to land as the satire that it was these days. It's why you really should adapt a written property to film, and not simply film it as written.

I wish I remember where the statement was from. I believe it was a written interview from one of the designers or licensing people. Possibly Hispabrick or Brickjournal? It was awhile back. But it was very clear each licensor determines what defines the "construction toy license" for that particular license. And they very carefully define things like minimum piece count per fig, etc. it varies by IP owner. It will not matter if there is or is not an active action figure license outstanding. To WB and New Line that Action Figure license is still an IP product, that may be sold or activated tomorrow. Their IP lawyers will take steps to leave clear separation between it and other sub licenses such as construction, games, plush toys, etc. As for why they don't make more Battlepacks? Because they are hard to predict, at least as far as the Merchants are concerned. Some BP's blow out fast. Some sit as shelf warmers until clearanced out. No one wants too much exposure there. The Merchants want price points and named characters as a sales hook. The Army builders around here are not the typical retail customer. We will nicely pad sales when we take an interest in something, with multiple set purchases. But we are not something that drives their planning or sales projections. We don't really appear on the radar of the people who do the store purchasing.

Or we might simply get a new Twin Pod Cloud car in the $20 price range, and include a Lando with it. The Minifigs don't always perfectly match with the ship or scene. Such as Han Solo and Ackbar in the A Wing set.

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion
Faefrost replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Licensed
Very sad news. I am always amazed at how many classic comedies he was the voice and vision behind. We just lost one of the worlds funniest people. Kind of sad the this GB set now will sort of stand as a memorial to him. But it's incredibly fun. Which seems to be in line with everything he created. -
Heck they could really get away with just doing a complete recolor and reprint of Furty there and it would work well for Rocket. I know some would like a custom molded figure. But I would much prefer one that can actually lock into ships and have regular arms for weapons and stuff. Even if he is a little bigger than what we see on screen. as far as the uniforms. I think the Guardians are sporting a semi color matched rust red or orangy red look. Not thrilled about it. I really kinda wish they had gone for the comic series blue with black trim and spats. They actually came pretty close in the movies concept art. I sort of hope something more like this shows up. I think it would look awesome in minifig form. (and Rocket does kinda look like a rabidly pissed off Furty in that concept art, doesn't he?) PS after looking at those pictures, does anyone else hope whatever head they use for Rocket fits inside the SPongebob Sandy the Squirrel's Space Helmet?
