  1. Actually the face isn't too bad, if the jaw actually hinges and opens. I assume everything black is going to be covered in CGI and effects.I think the mouth we expect will be there, just a little more animated than in the comics. And yeah, the Scarlett Witch looks like an underling of Drusila's or somesuch. Which granted she is in theory supposed to be a little but goth, but still not quite doing it for me.
  2. It wants a login? I would say submit it. But wait at least until the other project is off the first page. It also probably wouldn't hurt to send a pm to the other projects creator. This way he at least knows you are not simply jumping on the "me too! What he did but better!" Type bandwagon. Besides now you have us all curious what it is?
  3. It's not that they don't add Fire Retardent. They are required by law to add certain fire retardents to plastic toys in the US, Canada and parts of Europe. But the chemicals that they use and the amounts they use have changed and evolved over the years. So different vintage bricks and even same vintage bricks from different batches of plastic will discolor to a wide degree of variance. Modern bricks should not discolor as much or as fast. But they will all discolor some. It's just how it goes. And as others have said it is primarily just a chemical reaction. Light and air contact will make it happen faster, but it will eventually happen.
  4. As long as they understood that Uncharted is a Tomb Raider'esque adventure game it should be fine, at least until it hits review. Street Fighter is specifically a "fighting game." 2 players using human'ish avatars to simply beat the Megabloks out of each other. All fighting game and FPS type game projects are outright banned. Now as far as how Uncharted would do at review? Honestly unless the Mark Wahlberg movie does really well, it probably would not pass review. As a console exclusive with no other supporting media it just doesn't have as deep a fan or user pool as they would normally like. And what it has is very narrowly age defined. This is a common issue with Video Game licenses, and it's why we do not see a lot of Video Game toys. And what we do see is either dirt cheap junk, or adult collector targeted. But it's worth a try. If you have a good set in mind post it up there. With the movie looming you never know. Just be prepared to have it get kicked, and have to go back and politely explain that it is not an FPS. Portal had some issues with that. The CuuSoo folks do not know a lot about video games.
  5. There was an official Lego published alt build for 8635 the old Mobile Command Center, that rebuilds it as a building HQ. maybe there will be one for this one?
  6. The Brick Show is typically pretty good in stuff they obviously have deep history with and love for. Star Wars being the big example. Not as detailed as some around here, but more than sufficient to task. The farther they get from their personal knowledge the stranger the pronunciations and such can get. Case in point Super Heroes. While I think Jason and Steven like comics and have read some, they aren't the deeply entrenched comic geeks that some are. I write it all off as part of the cheesy charm. It's still better than someone's 5 year old schrieking at me doing a review. (Hint video reviewers, the kids as co reviewer can be cute, these are toys after all, but it's a gimmick for which a little goes a long way, if you get my drift.)
  7. And the Suicide Squad has entered the DCCU. Or at least the DCTVU. Overall not a bad episode. The Suicide Squad themselves were great. I love Deadshot and Bronze Tiger. I think they could build a great Mission Impossible type show out of these guys. The B story this episode, with whiny emo Ollie Queen was however in a word, awful! It just dragged on and on, and took way to much screen time away from Deadshot and company. Much the same with Diggs Afghanistan flashbacks. They didn't add enough to be worth the amount if time they took up. We got everything we needed in 4 or 5 minutes of the first two. Everything after that was annoying. And honestly do not care for this take on Amanda Waller.
  8. Here's one of our dream licenses that may have suddenly become a possibility. a very very real possibility. Noting that with certain types of Disney or Pixar movies Lego does not tend to dive in until they are on the second movie, and it is an established property where they can leverage prior movies and interest while pushing the new stuff (actually most of Lego's most successful licenses follow this pattern. Star Wars, PotC, TMNT, Batman, Spiderman, LotR, etc.) So with that said, how would an "Incredible's" theme sound? Because it just came out that Disney has 2 Incredible's projects in production. They have the movie remastered for a 3d re-release. Annnd... (Drum Roll Please) They let it slip that Brad Bird is working on Incredible's 2!!!!! Now this would be a fantastic property for Disney. Something that stradles between the Super Hero and Action areas, with Disney thrown in. Kind of that mix between Batman and Agents. I really hope we see this one.
  9. I'm surprised no one has mentioned one of the big reasons for the stickers in a broader range of sets, and less appearance of printed parts. Kids actually prefer them. For kids they view the stickering as a fun part of the build. It is a feature, not simply a cost saving measure. And they are the target audience. The other reason we see fewer custom parts is inventory control. Not so much costs of printing parts. Rather its once you print them, what do you do with them? If you print a part with Alien bug GS paterns then you have to create a special bin in the warehouse to stockpile these things. and unless it is something like printed wood grain pieces or commonly used signs and maps, those parts will be sitting in those cubic meters of warehouse space for a long time. Whereas the stickers have very few downsides as far as TLG is concerned. The kids actually prefer them. By using them they can use off the shelf pieces that are then easier to further use and spread around. And as we have said, it is much easier to do a simple 2d printed sticker sheet than to go through the production step of printing on 3d parts. The only downside is longevity. But while Lego is reasonably accomodating of the collectors and nostalgia markets, it isn't their primary target audience. They make these things to be played with, and play does have an expected lifespan if you will.
  10. It's not so much "in the set" as it is "in the bag or bag grouping. They set up the fill stations for each numbered bag. So they may use a part in bag one, but then elect not to use it again and use 2 smaller pieces to do the same job in bag 2 or 5 in order to simplify the bag filling process. This is why it often seems confusing to we lay people. The numbered bags and assembly sets mean Lego treats each numbered bag as a separate "sub set" for purposes of production and packaging automation.
  11. Do they have the capability to fully print one half of a head? Including half the stud? OK now that looks 1000x better than the Fox X-Men DoFP Quicksilver. It's like I don't feel the urge to slap this one, just from looking at him.
  12. Just a new video from Stuart Ashens making fun of some bargain bin clone stuff. Very educational. But be warned he does drop the occasional F Bomb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hPVNS1oy7w Hilarious as always.
  13. Keep in mind, one reason they may decline a DW project or one thing that may work against it is Character Builders very recent lack of success with the license, and a set that was very similar to the current in review project.
  14. As long as they are real Lego parts there is no problem. The chances of a project based an in production internal theme or Lego owned license like Chima, Ninjago or TLM, passing CuuSoo review are fairly slim. But you never know. And there is nothing that would eliminate them from being considered.
  15. It is in the new upcoming Lair set. Has not been released yet.
  16. I think the biggest thing working against it (and many other DW projects) is it really is somewhat similar to what Character Builder just had on the market.
  17. It just means that they don't pre emptively reject them. The only thing that they confirmed about Dr. who is that there is no longer a competitor holding the license. Any decisions regarding TV shows would otherwise happen in review. Unless the show was something clearly "adult" such as Game of Thrones or Spartacus.
  18. That slide has shown up all over the place. Lone Ranger sets, TMNT sets, etc.
  19. Now now, let's not forget the naked blue chick. Also they weren't old yet in First Class ;)
  20. Well they have Arrow, which would open up possibilities for green Arrow, arsenal, Deathstroke, Deadshot, Black Canary, Shado, Flash, Suicide Squad, Huntress, Birds of Prey, Amanda Waller, Ras Al Ghul, Nyissa Al Ghul, League of Assassins, Dr. Ivo, Merlyn, China White, Clock King, Shrapnel, Bronze Tiger, Royal Flush Gang, possibly Hive Queen, Brother Blood, Blackhawk, Firefly, Count Vertigo, Constantine Drakon, Dollmaker, KGBeast, Jean Loring (which opens the door both for Atom, and for Eclipso), Cyrus Gold (aka Solomon Grundy), with Harley Quinn looming in the next few episodes. did I miss any? Just think how many of those you would love in Lego form? Add to that rumors that next season we will probably see Jericho and Ravager, plus we have seen some teasing of Ted Kord. If nothing else the show is slowly building up a Live Action Teen Titans. Sadly it is mostly ignored by Lego. Probably too dark and adult for the kiddies. (Plus it's like the top rated show on a channel that nobody even realizes they have.) Plus they are spinning off a Flash show next year. Not to mention two of the last batch of season 2 episodes are literally titled "Suicide Squad" and "Birds of Prey". So figure somebody is exploring new show ideas. But anyway, my point is DC does have a stronger media presence with a deeper pool of characters out there than most realize. If only TLG and WB would dip into it. (No really go back and look at that list of comic characters that have appeared in the show. The vast majority of them either dead on perfect for how we would want them, or reasonable live action real world interpretations of same. )
  21. But the weird counterintuitive thing is the B list characters typically make better movies (if out in the right hands). The fans go in having fewer expectations. Starting with less overhyped characters like Iron Man also allowed for more of a build. And more of a brand build. Right now people will flock to see Guardians of the Galaxy because it has "new from MARVEL" right up front of the trailers. The only others where the studio itself can drive the interest are Pixar and Disney itself. WB wishes they could drive traffic just on the DC name alone. This name power will let Marvel farm some of the deeper recesses of their catalog. It lets them do the talking SciFi Racoon movie and have fans fall in love with it. While there is no way WB could spit out a movie featuring their talking supernatural detective chimp and have it do anything but dislodge Green Lantern from their worst list.
  22. While very well done and cool projects, I think the bigger issue with things like the Big Bang Theory and Golden Girls projects is that they really are exclusively targeted at adults. AFOLs and that nostalgia/Peter Pan'ish customer base. Lego tends to prefer things that have a broader appeal that includes their younger traditional fan base. Which these might not quite hit? I also think how the BBT does in review depends a lot on when it hits 10k. Think of it this way. Lego would be reviewing a Dr. Who Project... And a project about a pop culture interpretation of Dr. who fans. The savy reviewer will quickly figure out that pretty much anyone that voted for BBT will buy DW. The less savy reviewer will simply start drinking while lamenting how bloody weird the world has gotten.
  23. You kinda can't blame WB. Right now Cap 2 is generating huge preliminary buzz. The trailers have people really wanting to see it. It looks to easily be one of Marvel's most successful movies. The follow up to it will probably be highly anticipated Whereas Superman Batman, while succesful financially is riding a wave of bad aftertaste and fan resentment from Man of Steel. Batfleck? Frail Skinny Wonder Woman? More Zach Snyder? Anyone else not feelin' it?
  24. I think something of a classical China would work well. The Empire vs the Horsemen. A Nice Great Wall type set. A Chinese style Imperial palace. Rampaging horsemen with Yurts. Just some good possibilities. I think Roman and Napoleanic type themes are a narrower niche that while great for adults would confuse kids. They tested the Europa line with kids years ago and got mixed results. Which is why it morphed into Pirates. As far as Pirates. Here is part of it. Pirates sells fairly well. However Pirates of the Caribbean sells orders of magnitude better when there is a supporting movie. So long as there is a clear indication of a movie in the pipeline Lego will probably hold off on unlicensed. Just because of the huge difference in ROI. Actually Lego loves bloodthirsty historical and adventure themes. It is more modern real world type violence that they have issues with.
  25. Unfortunately you kind of highlight the root problem with the theme. LotR just does not ever seem to be able to find traction as a longer term Merchandise line. Outside of a short period around a given movie really all it sells well is books. (Which it sells incredibly well.) I don't think there has ever been a LotR toy or merchandise line that has ever made it all the way to its planned finale. They all seem to get cut off early as sales between first and second waves drop off. I hope Lego can Buck that trend, but right now it isn't looking great.
