What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars minifigures?
Faefrost replied to Darthking623's topic in LEGO Star Wars
For Jedi? I know some don't like the CW figs, but somehow the Ayala Secura fig really works for me. The oversize cartoony eyes just work well with her. I also similarly love the Shaak Ti minifig. I also love the Luke Skywalker from the more recent Milenium Falcon release, with the better tossled hair piece and the training visor. From the Dark Side, I think the new Darth Malgus minifig will be the best of them. (side note from the game. Darth Malgus really is the best boss ever. he is like the only person on the Imperial side that actually listens to you, the player and gives constructive feedback. He reminds me a bit of that James Bond'ish villain that Homer Simpson once worked for.) Second runner up is the Dark Side Anakin Skywalker fig from this years Jedi Interceptor set. I just love the eyes in that one. -

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Faefrost replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Looking at their rough estimates in their review guidelines the technical reviews take about 8 weeks plus an unknown amount of time for business case and licensing issues. So of the four we will probably hear on the Western Town in 2 to 3 months. The other three will be longer since they all involve licenses that Lego does not currently have. Unless of course they get shot down in the initial brand fit review. Which as we have seen can happen fast. For these sets it seems that longer is better news for the most part, as it means the set is winding its way through the process still. -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Faefrost replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
And that right there is why it sadly never had any chance on CuuSoo. TLG's largest competitor is not simply the license holder, they are the owner of the IP., and they have an in house brick company. -
I would so love for lego to put out the Smugglers ship, the Bounty Hunters D5 Mantis and the Jedi ship. (The Republic Trooper ship is Meh! and the Imperial Agent ship would look awful in Lego and looks more like a Mass Effect ship than a Star Wars ship.) The Imperial Fighter would be really easy to do in Lego as well. I think there is a great looking one already on CuuSoo. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/17447

It's about twice the size of the Tie Fighter. Closer in size/weight/mass to Slave 1 or the Avengers Quinjet. Still overpriced, but not quite as bad as it seems when comparing it to the Tie. The Republic Striker is closer in to the Tie Fighter.

Or that nice new Zombie Cemetery Wedding scene that should be coming out soon? That would be a real nice companion to it.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Faefrost replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
How come I keep looking at this and expecting them to break out in a rendition of "In the Navy"? -
Sadly I think we were supposed to get the human ship in Wave 2. If you look on the right side of the Wave 2 concept art that is floating around the internet you can see a large white rocket with white checkerboarding around the top. (from Brikipedia) I also had not realized that AC takes place in the same world/setting and interconnects with Power Miners, Atlantis, Dino's and Pharoah's quest in some sort of overarching story?

ASK HERE MOC-stuck? Ask for general building advice here!
Faefrost replied to mrklaw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is how someone at a large public show addressed the issue in an Alien Conquest MOC. But I think they may have also been trying to make the profile a little more angular to match some of the AC concept art. (I wish I knew who had made that MOC) The thing that hurts with any alternatives is they will cost you those side pin holes, which means you will not have the opening cockpit doors or side door. -
Is Cuusoo too easily taken over by Rabid Fandoms?
Faefrost replied to David Thomsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Interesting. I just noticed that all of the hotly debated My Little Pony projects seem to have disappeared quietly from CuuSoo. I guess that answers that question. -
Isn't his years Winter Village building the Post Office? I'm not sure they old do two like that?

Custom Monster Fighters
Faefrost replied to Writers Blocks's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I love it. Now we just need an Ash minifig, and on the other side a Jason, Freddie Kruger and Pinhead fig -
It helps make sense if you put the Haunted House in the same mental category as the Medieval Market Village and the Imperial Flagship. Both very much AFOL targeted upper end sets for what were otherwise System Themes.

Minifigures Series 8 Guessing Game

I think that is my favorite suggestion ever. A non combat army builder fig. Put together enough to make a full scout troop -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

This might actually be Captain Hook, might it not? This may be more of a faerie tale or literature sub theme instead of simply a pirate. -

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Faefrost replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
There still seem to be an awful lot of Black Pearls and Queen Anne's Revenges sitting on the shelves at mass merchants such as Walmart. I'm betting any decisions on whether or not to make a Flying Dutchman will hinge on full price sales of those two sets. -
That I think is almost perfect. 3 Marines and a nice drop pod. It is a nice tight set using mainly existing elements, and not a theme unto itself. It enhances rather than competes with existing or in development themes. It both has an obvious story behind it, while being broad enough to let the buyers interpret as they wish. And it is a battle pack essentially, so fans can stock up on it and make their own army. Just perfect. I think that is something that they would make without a second thought.

Creepy Modular Fence Expansion Pack
Faefrost replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I really like it. One suggestion to break it up a bit. Add some stud points in random spots on the walls where you can stick on a random mix of vines or greenery, just to finish off that abandoned un maintained look. -
Oh and regarding sand green haunted houses. In both the video and in his posted statent he explained why the house is green without really realizing it. He is a huge Munsters fan. The house is green for the same reason Herman Munster is green. The Munsters was one of those 1960's shows that straddled the line between black and white and color telivision. The original color pallets used were intended for Black and White. So the green was meant to achievecertain grey tones. But when the show started filming in color they had a problem. Most tv sets were still black and white. They could not shift the colors for color tv without changing how it looked in black and white. Hence Herman Munster became green skinned ( and through him pop culture Frankensteins Monster) and the house was seen as a grayish green color instead of simply weathered grey. This is what both designers sought to recreate without realizing it. It's why the sand green color felt right for a haunted house to them.

I just hope we didn't ruin what is probably his best career moment. The unveiling of a truly fantastic set that will sell a gazillion. It's that perfect intersection between the geeky scifi and castle nerds and the more traditional minded AFOL's who live for the modular sets. I don't know about you all, but I can't wait to get this thing!

It will be years before we find out what any redesigned Dire Wolves look like. They don't appear until what will now be the second movie. I think the first one ends after Mirkwood. A new arctic theme would be great. Something that uses more modern and detailed techniques to make less boxy arctic vehicles. Although the geek in me can't help but wish that it involves Aliens found in the Arctic

'STAR WARS DARK BUCKET' project has reached 10K supporters on
Faefrost replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Star Wars
We don't know that one yet. They were able to do so for PotC, so it all depends on the terms of the license, and who other license holders are and what may conflict. -

Lego's license with Lucasfilms does not allow them to sell "action figures" Hasbro has that license. Lego is licensed for construction sets. So they cannot sell sets of simply minifigs. They skirt this in the clone battle packs by making sure that they always have a vehicle or cannon or such of at least 50 or so pieces per 4 minifigs. Contrast that with their non licensed stuff like Alien Conquest or City where they can and do sell just minifig battle packs, or Ninjago where they sell individual minifig packs. So yeah it was known that this one had no chance. The My Little Pony will get shot down as well because of licensing. When their primary competitor is not only the current license holder, but is also the outright owner of the IP, it ain't gonna happen.
