Heroica RPG - Tidings of Comfort and All That Sh*t
Myrddyn replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Erik writes three more letters. Dear Monk Pretzel. Thank you sir, you are correct, Copper Fox has taught me to be a Shaman. That has occupied a large portion of my time. I'm sure your gift will be very useful. Please accept this Grand Potion. It's unlikely you will need it, with your healing and defensive skills, but you might find a use for it. Merry Grogmas Erik Tyrvarr _____________________________________ Dear Soryx Dourskull. I hope this letter finds you well, and that these Shackles of War help you prevent the escape of any evil necromancers or their ilk. Merry Grogmas Erik Tyrvarr. _____________________________________ Dear Zasies. I hope you have found some more worthy fights since I interrupted your drink. Enjoy this Mead. Maybe we can fight again some time. Merry Grogmas Erik Tyrvarr. Total: Erik: -1 Grand Potion, -1 Mead, -1 Shackles of War. Monk Pretzel: +1 Grand Potion. -
Erik enters the marketplace with 16 gold. He sells one Grand Potion for 5 gold (10/2) and buys one pair of Shackles of War for 20 gold. He leaves with 1 gold.

Heroica RPG - Tidings of Comfort and All That Sh*t
Myrddyn replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
To Mr Maginstra. I hope this letter finds you well, and I'm glad to hear that Darkstar business got resolved. I've attached that spear I got from your mansion a while ago. I've got some better weapons since then, and while I suppose with that staff and your magic you wouldn't really need a spear, it was yours in the first place, so you can have it back. Merry Grogmas, from Erik Tyrvarr. He attaches his Spear (WP:9), and mutters "I've got Z-Mail." -
Perhaps a puzzle they must solve before they can rejoin the battle?
-
Yeah, which often isn't significant to a rogue, but over the whole of quest 69, which had no rogue classes (except Dreyrugr, who is a Black Knight), the total gold income was 628, split five ways. We got some cool items, sure, but MDM wasn't including items in the loot distribution anyway. 50 gold is actually quite a lot. (Unless you're a rogue )
-
I've always thought that a rogue should supply tools.

Erik removes his name from quest 91 Yeah, looks fun but I don't know if I've got time.
-
Yeah, in an atmosphere I'd think air friction would kinda heat you up a bit, if you're moving at the speed of light, but magic Ninja badassery. Point 2, we're heroes, not scientists. How do our characters know what the speed of light is, and how do we know it's the same speed in our universe as in the Heroica universe anyway? That solar system diagram has everything a bit close together for the real world, I think. Smiley faces. Also, I'd think light alcohol drinking doesn't really count, as I'm pretty sure that way back in the past people mixed a little bit of booze with all their water, to kill germs. More smiley faces.

So are the corpses semi-repaired by the darkness magic and then mind-controlled, or does the darkness magic manipulate the corpse like a puppet?

Perhaps it would help things if Emergency Essences were placed with equipped items, so they are easier to find in inventories? Or just have *Emergency Essence* with all the other effects/immunities, next to level?

Erik emerges from the training room and walks to the questboard. "Hmm. This quest already has a bunch of people, and these three don't leave for a while. Plenty of time to think about them." Erik signs up for Quest #91: The Sounds of Music.
-
Erik enters the training room. "Good evening, Mr Fox. M' names Erik. I'm here because, from what I hear, you teach people new tricks once they're experienced enough. Well, I've been adventurin' a while now, and I was wonderin' if you could teach me a bit of how to heal injuries?" "Certainly. That would mean you wish to learn the art of the Shaman. Which gods do you follow, Erik?" "Ah, none in particular. I mean, you hear some people nowadays sayin' they don't believe the gods exist at all, and, well, I think the gods are up there somewhere, but you look at, say, people in the Hovels, barely managin' to survive, and it seems like even the Wolfgang do more to help than these gods. That said, if I need to follow a god to heal people, I'll do my best to find some faith." "As a Shaman, you'll find that faith in a god often isn't as important as sacrifice and knowledge of rituals and herbs. Come with me, and I'll teach you the basics." Erik and Copper Fox leave the hall and take a short walk to a forested area outside the city. They sit down, and Fox teaches Erik the basics of medicine, meditation, herblore, religion, blood rituals, and Shaman dress code. "Do I have to take my shirt off? It's cold." "Kids these days." Erik Tyrvarr (Myrddyn) 19 years old male human Shaman. Level: 16 Health: 32/32 (Barbarian base 8 + Level bonus 15 + Shaman bonus 9) Ether: 17/17 (One per level 16 + Shaman bonus 1)

Erik buys an Amethyst from Elphaba for 100 gold, and has Anwyl imbue it into his Twin Axe for 50 gold. He also has his Diamond imbued into his Titanic Axe for an additional 50 gold. Original gold: 216. Total cost: 200 gold. Remaining gold: 16.

Are you two running dial-up? My sympathies. EDIT: Happy Birthday, Scorpiox!

Transcended: Defensive, as it restores stuff. Trial: Not a positive effect, as it give no advantage during battle. (the advantage comes after the battle). I like it, though I reckon you'd have to do something about Berserkers 'Sheild' roll.
-
I like this idea best, I think. I'd be Ok with an expiry on effects too, though. Maybe bump it up to something fairly extreme, 30 rounds or something, as a reasonable number of battles go for ten rounds, but then Erik doesn't use consumables all that much anyway.
-
Perhaps free hits could have a chance of ignoring SP when targeting a character who took no action that round? Doh, that's pretty much been said. Or just do extra damage, or ignore half SP.

Erik enters the hall and hands his Smoke bomb to Pretzel.

Good quest, Pie. Good characters, good pictures, even though the builds apparently had big holes in them, I couldn't really tell. Good plot, I'm not entirely sure what the deal with the 'Cardinal' was, or what we did to annoy the Crimson Crown, but I get the feeling that will be revealed in a later quest. EDIT: Definitely glad to see Red has (mostly) abandoned her life of crime and gotten an honest job. Good to see Wally back, too. It did perhaps go on a bit long, but I understand that that is hard to estimate. This didn't make it any less fun, though.

Heroica RPG - Quest #69: The Hook on the Other Hand

"Thanks, Pretzel." Erik accepts the loot. "Goodbye, Soryx and Borris! Thanks for your help fightin' those guys, and for your inspirin' music. It was a great help. I'm sure you'd both be welcome in the Hall, if you ever felt like joinin' up." With a final wave, Erik heads towards the hall. -

"Ah, thanks. No worries." Erik scans the lyrics of the song. "Catchy. You wrote it yourself?" Not terribly fussed R:E loot distribution. -
Heroica RPG - Quest #69: The Hook on the Other Hand
Myrddyn replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Thanks. Nice shootin' by you, also." Soryx attacks Disciple, back row. Erik attacks Novice, front row or Disciple, back row. Erik was in the back row last round, so I think the Novice still has 19 HP. -
How do other effect weapons work on AOE? Would a poisoned weapon poison all enemies? I'd have thought Dual-Strike weapons would deal 1x damage to all enemies except the targeted one, which it'd do 2x damage to.

If Erik is healed or Rooted he attacks the Disciple from the back row. Otherwise he does nothing from the back row. If Soryx is Rooted he attacks the Disciple from the front row. If Soryx is not Rooted And If Nessa rolled Special Damage he attacks the Disciple from the back row. Otherwise he attacks the Novice from the front row.
