  1. There are definitely some amazing deals out there - it's just a matter of diligently searching eBay every day to find them. Now, not everyone has time for that so hopefully these "highlight" threads I've been created are of some benefit to these people.
  2. Which book are you referring to Cardinal Brick? It could well be a useful reference for us all.
  3. SlyOwl why are you so talented? You've crammed a lot of brilliance into this creation! The decomposing Imperial Guard is a macabre yet demonstrates your high level of ingenuity. This MOC must be frontpaged!
  4. Do you have the auction URLs for these still? I've created a thread called Buy ships for your own MIGHTY fleet!! to track ship auctions. I'll still add your data but the links help to get the smaller details. Well for 120 days at least... You don't need to sleep! Your bed will provide you with plenty of space
  5. Very nicely done indeed! I never would have guessed that you used paper. I've noticed you've put some work into the presentation as well, I realise you can download border graphics and such, but did you create your own graphics?
  6. Do you plan to buy anymore sir? There's a Skulls Eye Schooner on eBay looking for a new Captain but I suspect by the time you read this she'll have been sold.
  7. Thank you for your encouraging words Mr Norro! With fan communities such as ours expect we can provide the necessary feedback to allow Pirates to over take castle and become the number one best theme! And I'm sure many here would like you to regularly contribute to that feedback.
  8. That's great BatBrick! As for everyone else - are the ads working properly? Are there any problems? Are they showing the sets you'd like to bid on?
  9. 6242 (Imperial Base) What I like The Imperial Guards have returned but haven't been removed from their original identity. The original flag insignia remains yet there's been some innovation by making the larger flag material based. The brick patterns on the walls. The rat is a nice detail. Plus the monkey and alligator are great inclusions - the larger Imperial Guard sets (Imperial Trading Post and Treasure Outpost) lacked animals so its good to see there are three in this set. The features like the crane, cannon and cell door - these are nice details and add to the playability. The Imperial Guards finally have wooden decks! By that I mean the set uses brown plates instead of black. The bridge seems like a simple but clever construction The black/navy coated mini-figure - very mysterious because we don't know who he is yet What I don't like The structures seem a bit "blocky" although not too bad. The earlier Imperial Guard structures seemed a lot more elegantly crafted. The one piece palm tree trunk - that's aweful! Bring back the original system. The middle structure - it doesn't seem all too much and looks like it could use a few more pieces to flesh out its design. If this is base then there are not enough soldiers. A couple more would be ideal.
  10. Well Wes! You're certainly a dark horse - I never realised you had so such Pirate LEGO! Awesome collection! I like how you've made the Caribbean Clipper into a decent sized vessel, your blue coats have something comparable to the Black Seas Barracuda and Skulls Eye Schooner. The other thing I like is your abundance of cutter sized vessels which is something the LEGO Group should really consider basing some sets around.
  11. We don't mind having old threads revived in the Pirate forum so long as the author has something worthwhile to say - and you most certainly have! It is indeed an honour to have the creator of this fine MOC among us! Ramble as much as you like - it's the good kind of rambling! My suggestion is keep us updated when you add more to your port. Create a Work In Progress thread if you like!
  12. Awesome! We've reeled in another one! Glad we could be of assistance to share the love of Pirate LEGO!
  13. Welcome aboard BlackBrit! You have quite a collection of MOCs there but unfortunately we can't see them until your Brickshelf Folders have been moderated. This may take a couple of hours to a couple of days. May I suggest you read our How to Deeplink and Post Images Tutorials as this will teach you how to link directly to your Brickshelf images. This way you don't have to worry about whether your Brickshelf folders are moderated because your images will display regardless. Also, may I recommend our How to perform a batch image resize Tutorial. Threads with an image in their first post usually get more attention so this is something you might want to take advantage of. Bare in mind we prefer the images to be in .JPG format and no larger than 800 x 600 pixels so as not to burden those with slower Internet connections and smaller monitor. Those Tutorials should help your MOCs get plenty of responses!
  14. What is an interesting point - how did you achieve Tobiasz? The sails look quite professionally crafted.
  15. Thanks for that response Asuka! And thank you for not disrupting the cleanliness of the other thread otherwise I would have moved your post here anyway And now to practice what I preach: Moose in the thread wrote. Historically the red coats should be marines or infantry (i.e. "ground forces") and therefore you'd expect to see them with backpacks more so than naval forces.
  16. It's been noted that I've been neglecting to present Australian eBay Auctions. In the interest of market research/bringing auctions to the users I have created a thread for Australia auctions. 17. Most likely the same admin who removed them. It appears you can display them, or at least for now...
  18. 6241 (Island) What I like The "Robinson Crusoe" mini-figure - this fellow encapsulates the whole stranded on a desert island image perfectly. The beard and torn cloth legs are brilliant touches! The fish and campfire pieces. These are great new pieces which could easily be used in other sets or MOCs. The inclusion of the Imperial Guard and cannon. The set uses the more recent plant pieces introduced after the pirate theme was discontinued What I don't like The base plate. It seems far too big for the number of pieces included. The set would work better if the island was constructed from a flat base plate which was built up with bricks and plates, like 6254 Rocky Reef . The structure aplomb the island housing the treasure chest looks far too flimsy. A BURP covering the back would really strengthen it and make the entire structure seem secure. The Fang pieces at the front of the jetty - maybe suitable for Castle or Viking but look out of place in pirate The pirate flag - the skull looks almost alien.
  19. Lets if a picture in the first posts helps move this thread along a bit...
  20. Well I'm shiverin' in me boots Mr Tomato! Here they be: I think your parrot would work better in profile, so perhaps bare that in mind for Round 2...
  21. I've found an eBay seller with "Buy It Now" MISB eBay Auctions. I'm not sure if the prices are reasonable but I thought I'd share it anyway. Click here to view his eBay Store. He's got items like: 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer at US $148.00 CLICK HERE to place a bid! 7518 Orient Expedition Scorpion Palace at US $142.00 CLICK HERE to place a bid! 10036 Pizza to Go at US $75.00 CLICK HERE to place a bid!
  22. The price at which sets sell on eBay is something that fascinates me. I like watch auctions to monitor how much attention they receive and record their final price. This way I can accumulate some statistics to compare. Located in USA currently at US $60.95 CLICK HERE to place a bid!
  23. Here's a link to the Red Beard Runner's sail in all its glory. Would it be too outrageous to suggest the sails on this MOC would be a much better choice for the upcoming 2009 Pirate ship?
  24. $64 - a price like that was to be expected. But you've done quite well considering the piece available, for instance your resourcefulness to create cannons:
  25. I have upgraded the eBay Advertisement code. This means if you previously disabled the eBay Advertisements then they may appear gain. Quite simply turn them off again and if there are any problems, report them here.
