  1. Easy fixed! You could be the guy who focuses on the 2009 Pirates and Soldiers. But first we've got sort out the issue of taking decent photography. Observe the below photo how the lighting is fairly consistent and there aren't any extremes in colour variation:
  2. Consistency is important, as you can imagine, a minifigure with bright arms and a dull head is going to look unusual in the banner! Exactly how many pirate minifigures do you have?
  3. Very well, feedback on the photography is as follows... The quality on the below photo is passable, however the yellow on the arms and hands is far too saturated (I.e. bright). Is that caused by the camera or a light source? And is there anyway to tone that down so the yellow is more consistent with the head?
  4. You look great! I experienced the same issue with my original Sigfig but managed to edit the relection out. Access to the forum you shall have. But remember, we're actulally looking for non-custom minifigures, like they've come straight from an official LEGO set, moreso than the custom combinations. So if you can shoot off dozens of photos of non-custom pirate minifigs in any pose imaginable, that would be great also.
  5. I did, but then I realised he's only auditioning for photography with this photos - is that correct Brickington?
  6. Thank you Sebeus! However, half of those have already been used so I shall just link them in the existing Pirate Minifig Photos thread. Nonetheless, you have proven yourself to be good photographer, so you you have passed the audition. If you wish to contribute more pirate minifigure photography, you shall be granted access to the hidden forum.
  7. Thank you for your audition Brickington, but the background must be transparent so they need to be saved in PNG format. It's better, but still a bit rough in some places. The images are high enough resolution it's a matter of using the right tools and having patience, you're not going to do a good job of it unless you spend 10 minutes working the edges. To demonstrate here's my edit with a green background so the edges are more noticeable.
  8. Thank you for audition legolijntje! Is it possible everyone else post their images in this thread. This first image has too many jagged edges, particularly around the cape of the left most minifig. Sometimes the Magic Wand Tool doesn't cut it and you've got to manually touch up the edge with the Eraser Tool. Also note a Soft Edge on the brush helps avoid pixellation and jagged edges. Would it be possible for you to eliminate those jagged edges and post the result in this thread? These two have minor jagged edges but this should be unnoticeable when they're sized down.
  9. We're looking for seperate photographers and image editors, not strictly people who can do both. Though, we are quite happy to take people who can do both, however those people will need to audition for both photography and image editing. It may be useful to mention the sub-theme to avoid acculuating too many of a particular type of minifigure.
  10. It would be easier for the image editors if they were seperate. Everyone needs to know who is working on which photo to avoid editing the same photo. So if a bunch of photos are in the one image, it makes things more difficult keep track of. But why would you want to group them? You can upload multiple attachments if you switch to the Flash uploader.
  11. No, we want to isolate the minifigures as much as possible so they can be placed into any background environment Here's an example of a group minifigure shot which works - note how each minifigure is 100% visible with no background or foreground elements interfering.
  12. Single minifigs are preferable because they're a lot easier to resize and position than groups. Small groups of two or three may work, but anything more becomes a logstical issue getting the right prospective. It's unlikely your would photo would work with the banner's background unfortunately. It's a lovely seascape with both sea and land which means there is a finite amount of ground space to place the minifigures. Although, having not seen it I can't say for sure.
  13. Excellent! But remember to submit your photos (upto three in each category) in the Special Project Auditions - Submissions thread. I better rename and close this thread to avoid confusion.

  15. Not as yet, when we feel we have enough photos we'll close. But that could come sooner than you expect! Yes, preferably a larger image though which shows the entirity of the the minifigure. Ideally a mixture of both! The more different poses and motions the better, but minifigures standing front-on like in your example are perfectly acceptable.

The blasted Rules The photography must be decent! We will NOT accept low resolution images nor include images which contain artefacts (graininess), aliasing (jagged edges), chromatic aberration (colour fringing), focal defects (blurriness), mismatched impedance (ghosting), oversaturation or any noticeable visual distortion. The image editing must be decent! We will not accept images if the background hasn't been cleanly removed. Each minifigure and any accessories must have a smooth edge with no obvious trace of the background remaining. DO NOT use Microsoft Paint! Edited Images MUST HAVE alpha transparencyThe background must be transparent in PNG format with an 8 bit alpha channel. NO transparent GIFs will be accepted! The minifigure/LEGO elements MUST be shown entirely within the photoPlease do not submit photos with minifigures/elements which cannot be fully seen. E.g. peaking in from the side or from the waist up. If they were to be added to the banner, whatever part(s) aren't visible would simply look cut off in the banner. The minfigure(s) must isolated against a neutral coloured backgroundBackgrounds with multiple colours can be a lot more challenging to edit. The background will need to be manually removed and this is much easier if it contrasts with the minifgure and is a constant colour. You may however, remove the background yourself, but be sure to save the image as a 32bit PNG file to ensure it retains its transparency. No lighting techniques or harsh shadowsPlease photograph your minfigure(s) in consistent lighting. No watermarks, logos, signatures or other brandingPlease ensure your photos are free from visual distractions. No Background Spill“Spill” is the term used in film and photography when a background colour reflects onto a foreground element. For example: a minifigure photographed against a blue background has traces of blue along its boundary. No flash highlights These are when the flash reflects off the minifigure causing white highlights or shines. Nothing too crude or offensive!Keep your minifigure’s anitcs clever and tactful. Our decision is finalWe decide which minifigures and edited images will appear in the skin and how they will be arranged. Acknowledgement Everybody who contributes minifigure photography will receive an acknowledgement in Announcement Thread when the skin is complete. 18. I am NOT a Eurobricks Administrator - I am the Eurobricks Governator!

  19. The LEGO Group had no plans to release a Flying Dutchman set based on the version depicted in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. An AFOL known as Bricktrix produced high resolution images of a Flying Dutchman MOC which some mistook for an official release. This Sponge Bob set is currently the only official LEGO Flying Dutchman.
  20. Thank you for your considered response Brickington! I have perused the 2011 Annual Report and all it offers is the same information as the article, I.e. "Sales of several licence-based product lines were considerably above expectations in 2011. This applies to LEGO products based on Star Wars™, Harry Potter™ and Pirates of the Caribbean™." Indeed, I've not found any official data to suggest poor sales of the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Though I postulate when some people observe Pirate LEGO sets not selling at their local toy retailer, they conclude this is consistent with toy retailers nationally and/or globally. A highly erroneously assumption, however.
  21. Do you have any market research data to support your poor sales claim?
  22. First read about our exciting new project. Yes, anyone who continually submits poor photography or badly edited images will have a voodoo curse placed upon them and receive the Voodoo Doll tag! In more conventional terms that means you'll be blacklisted and won't be permitted to participate in future projects... and possibly contests and other niceties that occur here. However! There are rewards for those who submit good work! Depending on the quality and quantity of your submissions, you shall receive a Jolly Roger Polaroid tag. The more high quality submissions you contribute, the more valuable the tag... Bronze... Silver... GOLD! Some of the benefits include: The next time we're looking for a new recruit to join our crew, those with the Golden Jolly Roger Polaroid tag will stand out the most... If you've been a naughty scoundrel and earned yourself a few warning points, this may help redeem yourself. But only if you continue to behave yourself.
