  1. Rule update: Fort construction Forts can only be built in settlements you control. This can either be your own settlements, or an occupied settlement. The rules differ between the two. Limits on number of forts by settlement size still applies. Own settlement This is a settlement you have established on your own lands, or won in an official treaty. Here you can build forts as always with one stipulation: The same turn you build a fort, you cannot raise troops. (As troops are raised for the fort garrison) Occupied settlement This is a settlement you have taken in war, but which has not yet been officially transferred to you in a peace negotiation. Since you cannot raise troops here, you cannot build a fort either, unless you have the troops available to man the fort. And as a fort is a massive engineering feat, one cannot raise a large fort from scratch. Hence: Any fort building in an occupied settlement will deduct the manpower from forces present to man the garrison. (5 men per crew point) First turn of occupation, only a small fort can be constructed, second turn: a medium, third turn: large, fourth turn: a royal. NB: Each turn, the total footprint must meet the requirements, but the fort can be upgraded consecutively. So the first build adds minimum 16x16 for a small fort. Next turn adds enough to reach a total of 32x32 and the fort is upgraded to medium, etc. Technically, 100x100 studs could be built the first turn, and the fort would only count as a small first turn, medium second turn, etc. However, each turn must still include a build to progress the upgrade, even if just a vignette. NB: Please do not license the fort until the final stage has been completed. (For accounting purposes) NB: A fort cannot be constructed in a settlement under attack, unless posted at least 18 days before the tMRCA deadline (or four days earlier than the attack deadline), or before the attack build is posted. This is to avoid forts being constructed in response to an attack.
  2. Bowing his head respectfully, Montoya replied courteously: "Monsieur, it is my honour to make your acquaintance. With regards to ceasefire, I assure you no hostile action will be taken by Corlander nor L'Olius' forces during these talks." "Nonetheless, I observe that we are at war and that my military countrymen will continue planning for this contingency. However, if by early April a treaty of peace between our nations has been signed, I have the means and authority to call off all offensive operations before they commence." Montoya paused shortly and looked from one to another before carefully continuing. Someone had to take the first bite of this bitter apple, he thought to himself. "As for terms for peace, we appear to be at a standstill. L'Olius has grudgingly conceded that should the people of Nola Mar agree, he will be willing to consider some form of self-governance for the settlement, under Oleonese protection..." "However, the Grand Admiral and her Royal Corlander Majesty wishes to make it clear that any ambitions towards Westface and Eastern Terraversa are out of the question. In addition, the Atwi native to these lands must be ensured freedom to maintain their villages in the interior and be free to travel the island as they please." " Likewise, Oleonese forces must depart Kings Port at once to allow Archduke Oldis to be immediately reinstated under his own rule. Any, and I emphasise *any*, future military action or build-up to threaten the agreements of this peace will be met with the fiercest response." " To this, Corrington adds a number of minor requests related to ships interned under taxes due and similar, but I shall not bore you with the details. I will pass a list of requests to a clerk later.. . "
  3. I seem to keep getting my characters stuck in some odd and somewhat precarious circumstances, but luckily, I can normally count on someone to rescue them! Hopefully, Cooke will be able to repay Allcock with some victories at sea I am certain Cooke will be heavily disappointed if the war ends before he has had the chance to burn, sink, or take some bluecoat ships! I really like the landscaping here - the subdued colours work really well. The star of the show is the ruin, though - the roof rafters really give it an awesome touch. Well done, and thank you for saving Cooke!
  4. I have some rules set out, but is waiting for last feedback from other court members. I will chase it.
  5. Excellent tent, Evan. It would be fun to see more experiments with this type in a fully enclosed version as well, perhaps (i.e. with sides). And now let's get back to our plans for world domination... erhm, I mean, the liberation of Terraversa!
  6. @Bodi, @KotZ, @Capt Wolf Having observed the somewhat awkward silence for a moment, the latent hostility almost palpable, Montoya took a step forward and bowed, first to Oldis, then to the Oleonese delegation. "Allow me to impose myself upon you all with a short introduction..." With a token pause as if awaiting approval from the dignitaries, he continued boldly, presenting first in full Oldis' group. "Archduke Miro Oldis of indisputable fame, hero of the *first* Terraversan War of Independence" he began, before in turn presenting advisor Count Navarro, army general Rizzo, Prio's Commodore de Pernica, Eslandian Admiral de Flynt, and Eslandian Lady Condora. "As you may certainly have noticed, Grand Admiral L'Olius is not presently among us. He much regrets this absence, but as you may conceive, he is otherwise occupied in defending his homeland, and the trip to Pamu was not to be contemplated." Sending a discreet glance towards both the Oleonese and the Terraversan delegations, he quickly continued to preempt any outbursts. "Hence, I have been bestowed the great honour and duty to represent the Grand Admiral in these talks, although any agreement will be subject to his final approval. Additionally, I represent the Crown of Corrington, which stands with L'Olius throughout this conflict. In this, I am joined with the honourable Lord Spud and the brave Captain Brickleton, both knowledgeable in the military sphere." Lord Spud and Captain Brickleton both bowed and murmured their agreement, and Spud then spoke, gruffly as ever: "Corrington did not want this conflict, and considers these incursions upon sovereign territory a transgression against the established order of international relations, the freedom of nations, and peace in the Brick Seas. While our entry into this war was caused by the attack on our squadron off Nola Mar, we shall stand with Terraversa till the end of this infamous war." Captain Brickleton then took over: "Corlander arms in Westface, and throughout the Brick Seas, Army and Naval, stand ready for offensive and defensive action, and I can assure you that if no agreement can be passed, we shall pursue our interest in full. L'Olius further bid us inform you, that in the unlikely event Terraversa should be lost, he is committed to pursue victory in cooperation with Corlander forces elsewhere until such a time that he can return." Montoya turned his face from an approving sternness to more accommodating folds. "Allow me to emphasise that while Corrington and L'Olius stand ready to fight to the bitter end, our goal here is to achieve peace." "And as such, Grand Admiral L'Olius, and in turn Corrington, desires the Oleonese delegation to present the terms of your offer of peace. It goes without saying that the Grand Admiral will never bow to Oleonese masters, and that his people, the brave Atwi, must not suffer a loss of rights nor freedom on this their native island." Stepping back, the Corlander diplomat bowed his head to the delegations and awaited patiently.
  7. Agreed. I find I get rather stingy with the nice waxed modelshop thread, while cheaper options look almost just as nice. Some thick sewing thread might be the cheapest option, and still work very well.
  8. Good idea and great execution. The little cottage is nice,. as are the various implements for the trade. I enjoyed the description too. I'd definitely say this qualifies for a medium property, btw.
  9. Agreed. Building ships, for instance, I often uses plates rather than bricks. They give both a nice texture and a stronger hull. And then they are great for landscaping or buildings too. Typically, when placing a BL order, I check if they have any relevant 1 by X plate colours in bulk. (Well, I used to, now I have quite a lot!) EDIT: I forgot to ask: Excellent tutorial! I agree another base colour for the road might have helped it blend in less, but it turned out an excellent build!
  10. Cooke was tired. Having escaped Kings Port and later been part of an Atwi ambush near the city, he had been looking for a friendly settlement. Avoiding patrols, checkpoints, and the nosier locals was exhausting, and his sea-legs were not suited for the hard, unforgiving land. Everywhere he went seemed to be occupied and swarming with bluecoats. Finally, he had found a track leading to a farm where he could rest his weary body under a tree, shaded from the burning sun. Quickly dozing off into restorative sleep, he left his worries behind - being taken up now would most certainly see him executed as a spy, regardless of his explanations. He *was* out of uniform. Suddenly, he felt the prodding of a musket butt and the insistent orders in an accented Terraversan. "Papers, now! What are you doing 'ere? This is Oleonese territory, and I shall see your papers - Are you a spy, per'aps?" The young soldier's arrogance was false confidence, but Cooke had no time to think. He had no choice... ____________________ Nothing major - just a small build to progress Cooke's story - I somehow need to get him back on the deck of his ship Also, no bluecoats were harmed in the making of this build...
  11. @Mesabi: Where is the link to your latest adventure developments?
  12. @Maxim I and @Mesabi It is on my list - but as Ayrlego rightfully says, there are other things on the court right now. We have had to invent many new rules, and also content with some very... enthusiastic players regarding our new and existing rules, and we have to gm it all as well. Some of us even have to run NPC's too, and to everyone's surprise, some of actually like to build and progress our own stories too from time to time... (Then there is the whole ridiculous side-activity of jobs, families, other hobbies, and other annoying distractions...) We will try to get to it, but I do hope your most recent posts on the adventures are clear and makes it easy to GM. It will take a lot more effort if we have to go back and re-read everything, AND then have to guess at and interpret what you are trying to do.
  13. Good artists create, great artists steal! Where are the red shakos from? Also, I forgot to say the picture is very small - I am certain you are allowed to post them larger (Or I need stronger glasses... )
  14. Wonderful troops and great landscaping. The hussars are great, particularly the small capes and the hats - the golden visors are inspired - do they stick by themselves, or are you using foul tricks?! I am also enjoying these warfare builds - and recon in force is a great aspect to include. Exciting times!
  15. I am always snooping in your Flickr account! But no, I hadn't seen you had uploaded a fort. This is a general discussion based on current events in BoBs to ensure we keep balance.
  16. *NOTICE* The court is currently discussing the rules for fort building in occupied territories and will soon come with a clarification of the rules. In the meanwhile, please do not post any forts in occupied territories(TER settlements held by OL, OL settlements held by COR), as this may have an impact on your plans. Thank you.
  17. By August, you can apply for forgiveness - it requires a royal build and a 6000 word essay, and processing time is 5 years... (No worries)
  18. Exactly what I said was that Mesabi (assuming he was in command of the troops) would gain 1 point of commander skill.
  19. Commander skill is applied for the commander of the troops, not the navy. That is why both Oldis and OL started last turn with a skill of 2 (baseline plus first round of the battle for Kings Port) I will see if I can clarify it in the rules.
  20. The Corlander delegation is meeting with Oldis in Pamu.
  21. In the mayoral hall in Pamu, Archduke Miro Oldis has called the Corlander delegation and his own advisors to discuss the second Terraversan war of independence. After introductions, Lord Spud handed over a sealed letter from L'Olius to Oldis. After a short aside to read the contents in private, Oldis asked the Corlanders: "Are you informed of the contents of this message?" "We are informed of the headlines of L'Olius' objectives and demands, but do not know the exact wording of the message." Montoya responded with a bow. Prio's Commodore de Pernica leaned in with a discreet advice for Oldis, who nodded. "In mutual respect, I shall share with you the demands we have received from Oleonese negotiators. Take your time to read this." He said, handing over the Oleonese letter. Build by @evancelt The Corlander delegation discussed for a moment, then Lord Spud spoke harshly. "This is preposterous! Surely, they must be mad!" Montoya added: "And your position on this, mylord..." "We shall demand their full withdrawal from Terraversa before negotiations for any special considerations for Nola Mar and the socalled Loyalists can be negotiated." Shrugging, he continued: "Naturally, they will not accept such demands, but they are no more absurd than their own." General Rizzo broke in: "The occupation of Kings Port must end and the city be brought back to full Terraversan control. This is a matter of principle." "L'Olius, unsurprisingly, shares this view, as does Corrington." Montoya said. "It would seem we are much of one mind. I wish only to add one thing. L'Olius absolutely will demand to be treated as equal to the Archduke, and feels justified in this considering the current situation, as well as the arrrangements made after independence was won." Several of Oldis' advisors gave anxious looks to the Archduke who held back his initial response. Eslandian Admiral de Flynt took the word. "Gentlemen, I believe positions are now clear. But neither Oldis' forces here, nor L'Olius' in Westface can stand alone against the blue tide..." "Indeed, and as I believe we are in agreement of overall objectives... More or less..." Lord Spud harrumphed "You may consider our purpose here to coordinate efforts. Consul Montoya is authorised to represent both Corrington and L'Olius diplomatically, and can be considered council in all such matters." Montoya bowed, and Lord Spud pointed to Brickleton. "And Captain Brickleton here, and myself, will support any military coordination." "Excellent, sirs. Now let us get to work - there is much to do."
  22. Excellent and very stately office, Kotz! Apart from the drapes, my eye is instantly drawn to the decanter and glasses at the side. The letter is well-written too, although you are playing for high stakes here!
  23. Much improved with the new lighthouse - I really like the weatherbeaten look, with the various greys and the nougat (?) masonry bricks. One thing I will suggest for the future is stocking up on 1x1, 2x1, 3x1 plates when possible. When interspersing them with the bricks, you can get even more elaborate wall textures. Genaro, Ayrlego and Evancelt to mention a few utilise this to great effect.
  24. Sold to @evancelt! I will keep you all posted, should new opportunities arise!
  25. For the record, I am looking for a depiction of an official meeting, not a group of spies in an alleyway That said, some of Thomas' ideas are good for depicting characters you don't have the parts for in general.
