Same here, I got it mostly for display (and for more electronic parts for MOCs). Though this is lego afterall, and the fun for me now is learning from other builders' MOCs and realizing that the simpler and lighter the design, the better. Looks is just a bonus.

Here's a crappy iphone pic of the crazy Crawler tires on the 41999 wheel. I like the way they look on my modded 9398.

Yes, this is normal. Overload protection coming on. One of the vices against the original 9398 is that it isn't really that good of a crawler compared to MOCs that gurus here have built. Now add more weight, the winch system, and lights, and the performance is even worse.

Well thread title does say "pimp my boss" - so I wasn't talking about "standard", but hey, it's all about preference. Just saying seasider's mod still fits the new trend here in the US for high risers/ and over sized wheels (see pic):

I think that looks great!!! It goes with the new trend I've been seeing here in California for oversized wheels/rims. Instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Tire bead is the edge of the tire that sits on the wheel. It's the rubber sleeve on madjelly's pic (previous post you commented about) that he was trimming for better fit around the wheel/rim's outside grooves.

Yeah. Those would work too. Just which ever is your preference. I am actually excited to see who in these forums got the lowest production # (who has 00001-10), 20000, and the different ways to numerically spell out BOSS.

No gears were replaced. You just interchange (switch the 2 gears around): the tan 20t gear with the black 12t gear.

Those are cool but I prefer not turning numbers upside down because of how the plate displays "xxxxx of 20000". I think the best number is 13055 for BOSS. I wonder if anyone here got it?

That look's great efferman. It kind of looks more like a 70's Ford Bronco instead of a station wagon. I may go with that look after I enjoy the muscle look in a few months.

You won't have to alter your Crazy Crawler tires. Just a little of fanagling to get the beads fitted perfectly. They even fit the new BOSS wheels I tried it yesterday. Maybe I'll post a pic later.

Not trying to pick a fight or stir up an arguement but I certainly did not say to cheat the system. I was merely stating my belief that "how people spend their money is their own business" and if the system allows it, buying multiples is fair game because any of us (despite moral values) can do the same if you have the means to do so. I was just stating "my opinion" that complaining about people buying multiples and flipping it is pointless and using the "unfair" card is trivial... I am merely identifying the fact that the real world we live in is "not fair", and it always will be. In addition, the "loss" that you are describing is minimal, when in reality we are just talking about toys or as you put it a "hobby". I apologize if I am misundertanding you but I just want to remind you that if your item doesn't ship, your credit card doesn't get charged - so what is it that you lose since there is no exchange in currency? The only loss is the enjoyment that one feels they are obligated to, but again it is still trivial in the overall scheme of things. I won't be posting further about this...

Thanks for the clarification Blackbird and sorry for the misundertanding. Just a little paranoid about RM8's claim that no third party tires can fit on these new wheels.

New 6 hole rims at 42000 and 9398
GDomino replied to rm8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm curious if TLG is phasing out the 44772 wheels/rims to discourage the use of 3rd party tires. Not playing devil's advocate, but maybe it's time to horde those old 44772s... Demand could go up for them due to the fact that most 1.9 RC tires fit on it. -
I'm glad you folks down-under are getting your shipping notices. It seems S@H websites all over the world just took a beating with so many orders in the first few hours after midnight Aug 1st and it has taken them this long to figure out who to prioritize first. Obviously the first purchase verifications and " manually" checking for multiple orders and mult creditcards per household added a lot more to the chaos.

I just read this in the 4199 review thread (which confirms Blackbird's post above) and am disappointed that the white wall wheels can't fit third party 1.9 tires. Has this been confirmed by others on other 3rd party tires? I guess I can always use the old 44772 wheels but I was really looking forward to using the two face tires (tire on the left and credit to dluder and 3rd party tire thread) on these new white wall wheels/rims:

I don't regret anything yet. It's still early and I just came out of my darkages a few months ago... I got all the parts I need to build crawlers and offroaders from buying multiples of 9398s, 8081s for panels, 9395s, and a 8110 and a 8297. Most are still fairly easy to obtain. I even butchered a used 8466 for parts (mostly for the tires) so I'm fairly satisfied for now. Tracked and construction vehicles don't interest me yet, but will cross that bridge when/if I get there.

Lol. I was hoping not to let the cat out of the bag too much. These are the best tires I own and I wanted to get 2 more pairs. I hope you didn't get to all of em on RC4WD. Here's a pic of my crawler (zblj inspired) with them on:

Mine just shipped also. Separate from the freebie which shipped on the 1st. The wait begins. Oh joy! Based on my experience and people above, I have every confidence that all y'all that has a status of "in process" will be part of the first batch and will get a "shipped" notice shortly.

Along with changing the gear ratio in the portal hubs, there is an instructional video on youtube to gain more speed (for the 9398 but same concept): .Unfortunately, if both are adjusted for speed, the torque and accelaration is so compromised that it's just not fun to drive around.

Call me a capitalistic pig or whatever, but I don't have problems with people buying however much they want to buy. IMHO, how people spend their money is their own business. It's their own business to turn their money/investment around for whatever gains they hope to get from it. Also, I gotta say that scalping/flipping/middlemen/crime/investing/whathaveyou has been around since the beginning of time and there's no use complaining over it, because it's never going to go away. BTW, I'm not a reseller and I only ordered one (and at midnight on August 1st). To me, the motivation for my effort is for the enjoyment of having one in my collection... And that was the gain I was hoping for. Would I feel victimized, if I didn't get one? Probably, but I'd get over it quick. Afterall, it's over a toy. I could care less about why so and so bought more than one and whatever their reasons are. Because if I really wanted to, I could choose to do the same, but I choose not to.

You can get them here: http://store.rc4wd.com/Crazy-Krawler-19-Tires_p_671.html They are actually on sale for $12.99 USD. I love these tires. Performance wise, they're pretty light, perfectly balanced in other aspects i.e outside diameter, width, weight, and grip.
