  1. Come on guys... Please at least have a quick look at the last few pages of this post before you post "new stuff", because chances are, it's already been posted 6 times.
  2. Very nice little collection you have there! They're all hilarious, and I always enjoy seeing these crazy mutants of yours.
  3. Now it seems to be just Erdbeereis. Don't worry about it, I'm just a big tease. Perhaps you should wait 11 months to post this? It's looking very nice, is that the beach house?
  4. Hmm... I didn't have trouble with the Pirate sets. Two of the white slopes in the Soldier's Fort set were ever so slightly discolored, but nothing too noticeable.
  5. The jungle is quiet but for the noise of birds and insects.... Slowly a noise approaches, sounding somewhat like propellors, then, from the distance, comes a small brown plane with an unshaven man... Why is he here? 5925 Pontoon Plane Set Info: Name: 5925 Pontoon Plane Theme: Adventurers Released: 1999 Pieces: 67 Minifigs: 1 Original Price: $6 Current Bricklink Price: Around $6.50 Brickset Bricklink NOTE: Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced the trans-clear 1 x 2 panel, so I have used a white one in this review, until I can replace it. Sorry! Now, let's hack through the jungle! Instructions The front of the manual shows the Pontoon Plane about to land in a river, surrounded by trees and vines. Inside, you can see the vibrant green color of the paper, which gives it a great jungle feel. On the back are some alternate models. Minifig Here's the brave pilot, Harry Cane complete with a pilot's hat and stubble! I like the minifig quite a bit, especially the brown jacket with fur lining. Some interesting parts Two brown propellors, black window frames, a nice printed dynamite piece, a shovel and pickaxe and a few others. Here's a comparison of the different dynamite pieces. In my opinion, the new one is far superior. Building up the plane The base. Now we're getting there! The finished plane And now it's done! It has a very nice design for such a small set. The proportions are a bit strange, seeing as the minifig is almost as big as the wing. You can't expect much more from a small set though. The wings are pretty well designed, and serve their purpose well. I especially like the little detail pieces under the wing. I think the brown piece on the nose looks excellent. This tail piece fascinates me, mainly because it looks like a little section of it broke off in the corner. Here you can see the shovel and pick axe storage. Just 2 little clips. A close-up of the propellor. Simple, but effective. The set has a great sea-plane look to it, without using a gigantic amount of pieces. Now for the ratings! Price: 9/10 (67 pieces for $6 is a good value, especially since there are quite a few large pieces.) Design: 8/10 (The proportions are a bit odd, but the overall design is excellent.) Playability: 6/10 (You can swoosh it around, but not much else.) Minifig: 7/10 (Nothing too special, but not bad at all.) Build: 7/10 (Easy, but not redundant.) Overall: 37/50 What kind of mechanic does this guy have?! Conclusion This is certainly a very good small set. Well-designed, sturdy and overall just fun. Of course, you can't give it an ultra high rating because it's pretty small, but as far as small sets go, it's excellent. You can buy it from Bricklink at a very reasonable price, so I would definitely recommend it. Thanks, and happy building! Stay tuned for part 4, Mummy's Tomb!
  6. Very nice SlyOwl. I simply love the trans-green globule at the front, how did you make it exactly? The pilot is hilarious! That troll head makes a great alien. Good work!
  7. What a fun idea Brickster! I'm having a lot of fun following you and WhiteFang on your adventures. The postcard style pictures are brilliant.
  8. Could you please re-size those pictures to at the most 800 x 600? Pretty nice vignette!
  9. You can pick any set you want, and there's no time limit in which you have to write your reviews. There's really no pressure. Hope that helps! Feel free to ask more questions.
  10. That's fantastic, especially the Capitol. The dome is incredible, and I loved the minifig versions of politicians. Nice find!
  11. Credit for the background actually has to go to Matteo Kenobi, because he did it for me. But thanks!
  12. I smell some Thrash-talk brewing! Although I must admit Team Beta seems to have the upper hand. This will give me some good motivation to finish... Down with Beta!
  13. Thanks for the pictures! I'll skip comments on the Hoth and Endor sets, because we already know I love them. The tank droid looks like a very nice small set, with good design and decent minifigs. Separatist Shuttle also seems like a pretty good small to medium set, with a hopefully great new minifig, and a relatively smooth design. While the Y-Wing looks nice, the minifigs are no good, and I imaging that the price will be very steep, considering it has over 500 pieces... As for the Venator, I'm still pretty undecided on it. I wish we would get a few more minifigs, and it still looks very exposed with all of the technic beams showing. On the other hand, it has a possibility of a good interior, and it doesn't look terrible, plus the (senate guards?) and Palpatine are tempting. Summer 09 looks rather promising!
  14. Only TRU, LEGO shops and LEGO Shop at Home.
  15. Now that's funny. One time at Target, I heard a mother tell her 7 year old son that he couldn't have a set because the recommended age was 8-12. I often find myself helping people out in the LEGO aisle at Target, especially after the holidays when everything's sold out and they wonder why there's nothing on the shelves.
  16. Februrary 15-18 New York Toy Fair. I always love Toy Fair day on Eurobricks.
  17. Not your fault CopMike, but I have to agree with KimT, that didn't help much. To me, a promotion is not much of a promotion when you have to spend $100 to get it... He didn't really say why the shipping prices are so high. Most online shopping websites offer free shipping on orders over a certain amount always, not just during certain times.
  18. I think if we were to get more sets in the summer, we would have heard by now considering we know of the summer sets for most of the themes already. We'll probably get new Pirates in December just like last year.
  19. One problem, that one's not the "crispy golden brown edition".
  20. Tough choice, but in the end I had to vote for: "can't decide because I like them all". I have always loved the Adventurers, and I'm sad that I never got any except for a few of the smaller desert ones, as they all came out in my dark ages. The desert sets have some great parts, and you have to love the fact that they are the original. Jungle looks pretty good, but I think it's probably my least favorite of the bunch. Orient Expedition had some fantastic sets, especially the larger ones like the Scorpion Palace, and had quite a few unique pieces. I haven't looked at Dino Island much, but I don't really like the Jurassic Park idea.
  21. ISC, you have to honor of being the first thing I've blogged on Classic-Pirates, congratulations!
  22. Those pictures are lovely. They look very real, yet still have that LEGO charm.
  23. I won't be able to go this year, but I definitely hope to in the near future. It sounds like a blast. Have fun whoever is going!
  24. I'm pretty sure that I have enough dark bley and light grey for the kitchen, so I'll start on that soon. Are there any certain things that I might want to include, especially for the interior?
  25. I couldn't find it on the canadian website, sorry. I'm sure it will be there soon enough!
