Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Mike S replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Ha, I too was going to join Avalonia, but then I read that they weren't accepting any new members so to the south I went. I think I found out about GoH from a Brother's Brick blog post. -
Welcome to GoH! Awesome build! Very original and so many great details!

Nice! I like the logical order you have done your builds in. Food is neccesary for the growth of the town!- 23 replies

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Bishop Jamon has selected and appointed the resident priests for the various towns and cities where an Aslanic temple will be built. The priests are now underway. In fact the enterprising priest assigned to Trifork has already hired builders to construct a temple there and expects it to be completed by the time of his arrival. Bishop Jamon was quite surprised by this unexpected news.... Haha, yes but it is nice to have a change of pace from my Aden's Gate build. As Messahmuk is practically right next door, Bishop Jamon will be sure to build a small temple there in the future. -

Welcome to the Guilds! Interesting group of characters you have there... but I kinda was expecting to see the dwarves you mentioned in your character intro. -
Thanks! I don't mind. You might even give me an idea I could incorporate into the minifig scale build...

Do you have a flickr account where we can view the pics in greater detail? -
Oops... typo . Btw, the zigzag patern you made with the cheese slopes really does remind me of a rug.

Bishop Jamon must think hard on an appropriate representative to send to Shadowmere. This should prove very interesting as well as the design of the temple itself. As Shadowmere's architecture is "darker" than the traditional architecture of the Order, a decision also must be made to either merge or contrast the two architectural styles. -

I would assume that a certain package that Ecc sent Gunman was sent to Gunman's parent's address. There is often Lego trades between different members of GoH as some countries are harder to get certain elements than others. -

I'm going to have to come back and stare at this for a good long time... So many awesome details here! -
I love Kackdaw's character combo! Nice job on the build itself as well! I think however the "rug" itself would have looked better bordered entirely by flat bricks instead of the curved ones. Or perhaps lowered a bit so that the height difference between the floor and the rug wasn't as contrasted. But as I've worked with cheese slopes before, I know it can be a pain to get the desired height...

Genius! Great mechanism and I like how you designed the waves! Really awesome!

Thanks for the comments everyone! That would be awesome! I'm not really satisfied with the gold dome but I was tired and couldn't find anything else that could represent it at the time which is made up of a bunch of these- formed into a golden dome.

I know how it is with lack of time. If only our GoH building could give us the income that our day jobs do and we should have plenty of time then... with Aden's Gate getting closer to completion, Bishop Jamon has sanctioned the building of Aslanic temples in various cities. Ras-El-Ahken shall soon receive a visitor to explore a suitable location to build the Aslanic temple there. Bishop Jamon has always wanted to establish a presence in Mpya Stedor. With his focus now on building temples in various cities, Mpya Stedor shall soon receive a visitor to explore a suitable location to build an Aslanic temple there. Avalonia is the birthplace of the Aslanic Order. Bishop Jamon is thrilled to be welcomed to Trifork. Be on the lookout for Trifork shall soon receive a visitor to explore a suitable location to build an Aslanic temple there. Carn shall soon receive a visitor to explore a suitable location to build an Aslanic temple there. -

Did I miss the Contemplative gardens? I imagine that the small temple should be sufficient as the Order encourages its recruits to mingle with the local populace. Unless there is no inn in Ruadh, a boarding house is not necessary. Since I'm on the topic, is there any other city that would like the Aslanic Order to establish a presence in it? -

Mike S replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
If any of the Golden Masks survive, I will use them in future battles but seeing as they are weak against lightning, I will have to make sure the oliphant driver is a mage able to cast a shield against magic attacks. Also great to finally see the Leander back in action!- 318 replies

Other than the door which as already was discussed, this is a perfect little build! I like the windows and the interior. I try to make all my buildings have at least a somewhat detailed interior as well but I'm not too concerned about hinging the walls to be able to take great photos of them as I consider the interior as just a bonus. I think what you did with the removable roof is sufficient.

Quite ok. In fact Masa seems to be quite unsociable at the present time, keeping to himself for the most part. Don't know whats wrong as he won't talk about it but seems like something is really bugging him. Bishop Jamon is becoming quite concerned since he has changed quite a bit from when they first met. Great to see you found a solution so you can get back to building! Looking forward to a MOC or two from you soon... I was planning on 16x16 similar dimensions as Maxim's build to fit along with in the shop section. The attending priest requires nothing more than a hole in the wall for accommodations as he has sworn himself to a simple life. However if you would like a small garrison for the knights of the order to offer protection to the local populace from bandits and such, the build would require a somewhat larger area to accommodate stables and a boarding house as well as a small armory, and I would probably enlarge the temple as well. -
Pretty much. For now though, I am just working on everything on the left, starting at the end of the bridge over the waterfalls. I have done some prototype work on the great wall in the background as well as the temple but that is a major project I do not expect to finish for several years. I had the great tower and bridge complete at one time but wasn't satisfied with the style as I felt it was looking a bit too modern, so it all got torn down and is in the process of being rebuilt after I did some LDD planning to establish a style I was satisfied with. Thanks!
